Hi to all the lovely Feb babies - thought I would start a new thread as my darling DS's mummy needs loads of helpful hints and advice as she stumbles around with no idea of anything!

DS has just got to that really sweet stage where everything is wonderful, giggling and laughing a lot and giving out kisses to all - really cute - am really enjoying him. He walks around the house entirely convinced that he is the best thing since sliced bread and it is wonderful to watch!

Nice to hear of hugs and kisses
We get cuddles here but often with a bite!!

Just back from a holiday with the in-laws so have tons of washing to get through

dreamteamgirl · 19/07/2006 14:21

Hellloooooooooooooooooooo

Back on line at last. Have moved house, from flat to 3 bed house WITH GARDEN WOO HOO, which is marvellous.
Sam is loving it of course.

Sorry to hear Smashed Tooth Boy kept knocking it, but so glad it isnt chipped.

here for a few days, then in hospital next wednesday for gall bladder surgery -yikes!!

How was the holiday The Blonde?

iPodthereforiPoor · 19/07/2006 14:33

Hello Feb05ers - I always wondered why I never saw a Feb05 thread - I guess you all have had a bit of a break from some of the comments earlier this thread!!

If I may be so bold, I wouldn't mind joining in - I've been on MN since before my DS was born but was in such denial about being pregnant I never got round to joining the antenatal thread!

Have all the babies gone off eaing in this heat? We had sandwiches for lunch and the bread had dried out before I got the to the table - ended up eating half a punnet of strawberries with apricots and plums instead.

i used to be woosmummy.

TheBlonde · 19/07/2006 14:39

Hi dreamteamgirl - Holiday was good, relaxing by the beach. DS roamed free most of the time and also saw his 2nd cousins

Welcome iPod - We had lunch at the gym today and DS tried to chuck the whole lot on the floor
He's napping now and I should be doing the same

dreamteamgirl · 19/07/2006 15:03

hey IPOD, welcome from another newbie!

When was Ds born? My Sam is 20th feb, and is a cheeky little red head. I can relate to the denial. DS was somehwat unplanned, but is a very cool little dude now.

Yes, the food thing -annoying isnt it? Luckily we are still on bottles (BAD MUMMY) and he is drinking about 1.5 pints of cows milk a day and subsisting on that.

TB, holiday sounds marvellous. Did he try and eat the sand a lot? DS does that all the time in his sandpit then sticks tongue out and whioges.

You have to wonder at what point he will finally work it out???

Hi girls and welcome iPod - my DS is a Valentine's baby - he seems to be coping fine in the heat - he didn't have much lunch yesterday but certainly ate anough Chicken casserole at tea for 3 people - on top of it all, the casserole was not the lightest of meals! little piglet! -
Am really glad he didn't chip his tooth again when en fell the second time - he just looks like a bit of a thug -
Counting down to the holiday and I can't wait - lovely relaxing days and no worries -
Dreamteamgirl - will keep fingers crossed for the surgery - hope it all goes well - let us know -

TheBlonde · 19/07/2006 15:52

DS didn't eat the sand but kept chucking it in the air so he was coated in a fine layer
He loved the sea but of course wanted to be in my arms when wet and sandy

we are still on bottles here!

iPodthereforiPoor · 19/07/2006 16:53

Griffin was born on the 26th - I only found out I was pregnant on the 2ndNovember - don't ask!

He still has a bedtime bobo of cows milk - I just can't wait while he slowly sips from a cup, give the boy a bottle and he downs it! I'm convinced that if he doesn't have the milk he won't sleep through the night!! Which is mad, as he doesn't always sleep through since I moved house anyway!! Wakes up wanting his evil, bedtime only dirty-dummy and I give in and give it too him...doh!

dreamteamgirl · 20/07/2006 11:55

Hi Coolmama
A Valentine's baby. How sweet. I wonder if he will be a romantic? DS loves my chicken casserole too- but hates my mum's.... Also loves spag bol, and veggie chilli with chocolate (ala Jamie Oliver). Where you going on holiday?

dreamteamgirl · 20/07/2006 12:00

Ipod, you cant say that and then say Dont Ask! I have to! If you can bear to tell us of course

Poor you, that musta been one hell of a shock, and so little time to prepare everything.

I am glad we arent the only bedtime bottle people. Sam now has his bottle in cot, and we go, and he drinks it then falls asleep. I am too afraid to take it away incase he stops falling asleep....

He also has dummies- 3 in the bed so he can find a replacement himself. i dont think it does any harm if it is just at night/ sleeps, and dentist had no concerns when we saw him in Feb.

iPodthereforiPoor · 20/07/2006 13:01

Haha! just wanted to get you interested!!!
Basically, had dunken unprotected student sex at the end of my course, thought about morning after pill but thought "I'll be ok, its really difficult to get pregnant!!", was working night shifts for two months, didin't miss any periods for 3 months, then started my job in a hospital in the september, was feeling sick but thought I had a dirty hospital bug, put the missing periods down to stress untill I missed in october and then had a slight nervous breakdown when I thought "shit". Went for a scan at what onpaper looked like 12ish weeks, but saw a very developed 23wk baby!!! I swore a bit and had a week off work with stress and to come home to tell my parents!!!! Not much I could do at that point but accept a very nice engagement ring and buy a cot!

iPodthereforiPoor · 20/07/2006 13:04

well, the nice engagement ring was sold in December to pay my rent as exP was a tit and I moved him out, but I came out ok at the other end - after an emergencyCS, loss of my not really started career and life as a single mum I think I can take on the world and win!

TheBlonde · 20/07/2006 13:47

Wow iPod!

iPodthereforiPoor · 20/07/2006 14:21

indeed! I'm sure there is more thats gone on but I'm just getting with it until I get the odd case of the "fuckits" then I have a sulk, go shopping and get back on track!!!

Coolmama · 20/07/2006 15:08

the "Oh-fuck-it-I'm-going-shopping" thing is really good!!

dreamteamgirl · 20/07/2006 16:09

Goodness iPod...

Sorry to hear about the ex-SP (stupid partner)

What do you do at hospital - I work in the Primary Care Trust, as one the (apparantly far too many) managers for Primary Care.

Also agree with coolmama -LMAO at the "fuckits". I still feel that way from time to time

dreamteamgirl · 20/07/2006 16:12

OK, Feb 05 mummies, lets have a quick boast post moment

What silly (or not so silly if you prefer) little thing has LO done lately that just made you go "awww, I am so proud of you!!"

I will go first. Sam has learnt to say "bubbles" this week, and last Friday took himself to bed my finding a dummy and climbing the stairs calling "nun ni" (night night) down to us! LOL. Of course we did have to follow up and actually PUT him in bed!!

Anyone else got a boast to share?

iPodthereforiPoor · 20/07/2006 20:56

Griffin can strip wallpaper!!! thats my boast - it has to be a boast or he's off to social services in the morning for redecorating again!!

I was an occupational therapist - supposed to be such a valued and essential member of any healthcare team - but can I get a job since having a baby, can I f*ck!

dreamteamgirl · 20/07/2006 23:21

Woo hoo Griffin. Just 17 months old and he is already starting his career in interior design!

Bummer about not being able to find work in OT.

I assume you have looked on nhs jobs ?So are you a SAHM atm? I considered it, then realised we a) couldnt afford it and b) I would be the worlds worst SAHM. Envy those who can but I dont have the patience for it LOL

Coolmama · 21/07/2006 15:07

my boast for my gorgeous boy ? - you know those cardboard boxes that you can stack from 1 - 10 in a tower? - well 2 weeks ago, my DS did all 10 all by himself - promptly bashed it all down, but his delighted little face was a complete joy

OP posts:
iPodthereforiPoor · 21/07/2006 16:19

Yeah, SAHM but coutesy of HM Gov. - not too happy about it but can't just rock up to the hospital on monday and say "I work here now!!" Its only been six months since I stopped work, I went back when G. was 5 months but due to the tit of an ExP and tax cedits cock-up I ended up with stress/ probable PND, unable to pay may rent (even whilst earning!) so I had to move 300miles back to my parents. So not what I had planned for my year after graduating but hey ho.

I'm ok about being at home but I'm in a funny head-place about being on benefits and being a single mum which occaisionally results in what I call th "fuckits"!

TheBlonde · 21/07/2006 19:30

Hi folks, I'm afraid I can't think of anything to boast about with DS right now
We've had a rough week!! I'm so glad it's finally the weekend

iPodthereforiPoor · 21/07/2006 21:53

Yay! the weekend!

My boy was very naughty tonight a slapped his grandad in the face and laughed (twice). I thought my dad was going to put himthrough the roof - Griffin's so into throwing, hitting etc at the moment all I seem to be saying is "Gentle hands Griffy, Gentle hands" whilst running across rooms to remove him. I feel so bad, one day there's going to be a thread about him from some women at the softplay I'm sure of it...Anyone else? Been watching the behaviour threads but I just want to know if its a stage or have I got a "ASBO" waiting!!!?

Coolmama · 21/07/2006 22:03

I think the slapping thing is a stage as DS seems to think it very worthwhile to land slaps on mummy, dog, etc - I try not to react and just ignore, but do try to get him to be gentler - can't believe he is old enough yet to know what he is doing -
