Hi to all the lovely Feb babies - thought I would start a new thread as my darling DS's mummy needs loads of helpful hints and advice as she stumbles around with no idea of anything!

DS has just got to that really sweet stage where everything is wonderful, giggling and laughing a lot and giving out kisses to all - really cute - am really enjoying him. He walks around the house entirely convinced that he is the best thing since sliced bread and it is wonderful to watch!

Am I the only mummy left on this thread after that debacle? - I guess it was really just bad timing on my part, as I joined the thread right in the middle of all the uproar and then everyone just up and went. . . . ..

I am still here lurking

Coolmama · 26/05/2006 18:28

thank heavens for that - thought I would have to make up a whole thread all on my own - nice to know you are out there - will happily check in from time to time -

Im still here. Not been on for a while and have just caught up. Not sure really what has gone on but a shame that the others felt it was time to leave. DD is great walking about everywhere, chatting away, hard work though! Smile

picnikel · 29/05/2006 09:14

Hi,
Had a bit of a break - couldn't sustain a total departure though - got sucked back in when DH was on night shifts! It's not the same without the post natal club, though. However I have been doing a fair bit of reading, which has been nice.

Dd is fab at the moment, definitely trying to talk & obsessed with "dog-dogs". My parents' golden retrievers have been very patient with her! Am feeling a bit stressed, DH doing horrible hours and we're not communicating terribly well - need a holiday I think.

TheBlonde · 30/05/2006 08:19

Hello

Hope you all had a good weekend. We went on a rare trip up North for a wedding. So unpacking and washing are my tasks for this morning

DS started walking yesterday. It is as if he just suddenly realised he could do it and now he's off! Grin I knew he would get there eventually

Coolmama · 30/05/2006 10:04

first steps - congrats! - they are so sweet when they start that "stagger-like-a-drunken-sailor" thing - DS has just got his first pair of wellington boots as his shoes are now destroyed from rainy days in the park and he loves them -

Hello!!
Havent been here before, but my DS is a Feb 05 lad. Not sure what happened on the other thread, but thought I would say HI.
Smile

TheBlonde · 15/06/2006 10:02

Hello
How are everyone's little ones?

We are just starting tantrums here!

dreamteamgirl · 15/06/2006 10:19

Hi TheBlonde (TB?)
Wow, are we doing tantrums or what??? I am working on the ignoring tactic, and it SEEMS to be paying off.
Realy struggling with bed times tho. Last 6 nights or so Sam seems to have decided bedtime is optional. It has taken 1hr-1hr45 mins to get him to shut up and go to sleep each night. GRRRRRR

dreamteamgirl · 16/06/2006 13:54

Gosh, this is a very quiet thread isnt it? Where are all the Feb mums????

TheBlonde · 16/06/2006 15:22

Hello again
So how was last night's bedtime?

I am enjoying a child free afternoon as DH has taken DS in to his office. I hope he's not causing mayhem

pjsmum · 16/06/2006 19:15

Hello, have had a horrible few nights with dd. Teething i think. Hopefully settled down now. tantrums oh yes she is full of them. tend to do the ignoring tactic or the distract her with something. Works most of the time. Hope all is weel with everyone. Hope you enjoyed your free afternoon TB.

Coolmama · 16/06/2006 21:36

greetings all - sounds like you are all being kept busy! - things have been fairly quiet at our end of the woods - except DS has decided that eating is overrated and just stopped! - jeez, talk about a panicky mother! -
and then just when I think his little head is going to snap off because he shakes "no" so vigourously, he sweetly opens his mouth and eats for 3! - enough to drive you scatty!
He has back teeth coming in, but is being really good about it - he has those muslin thingies that he chews on in his cot and they seem to work for him -
the only other thing is the sudden fear of the bath and the bathroom in general - he has gone from being a water baby to pitching a complete fit - am sure this will pass, but until then, have a smelly child!

Hi pjsmum and Coolmama

Eating is hit and miss here too. DS refused lunch today and he threw all the finger food on the floor.

I better go, I am supposed to be tidying up and getting ready for bed before part 2 of Big Brother

dreamteamgirl · 18/06/2006 20:23

Hello all, wow hasnt it been a lovely weekend?!

Bedtimes are improving following a new tactic. We are sitting him in cot with side down and playing with some books for 5-10 mins, then saying night night and leaving. Yay to say 10 mins whinging last night instead of 90!!

dreamteamgirl · 18/06/2006 20:27

DOH, didnt mean to hit post then!!!

Coolmama, we did the petrified of the bath thing about 2 weeks ago. I cant be certain it was the cure, but I let him stand in and splash around in a large washing up bowl of water for 2 days just pure playing, and then 3 night instead we put the tiniest amount of water in bath and his dad stood in it splashing and stamping, whilst dad and I laughed. Sam then really wanted to get in too, and played happily in there. Each night we put a little more water in bath and brought temp up to neither bath tem and he has stayed liking it again - till next time of course!!

Coolmama · 19/06/2006 07:17

Hi girls - we had a great weekend and the bath thing wasn't too bad, and then the worst! - DS slipped on bathroom floor and fell face-first Sad absolutely horrendous - chipped a front tooth and the other is wobbly - he also has a lip this morning that makes him look like a boxer! and although he is being very brave, I can only imagine how uncomfortable he must be - I think I may take him to the dentist, although I did get some good advice from Comoveneer, lovely lady. Smile
And he's due his MMR tomorrow - poor thing!

dreamteamgirl · 20/06/2006 22:18

Oh bless him poor little man!!

Hope the tooth is ok. We did similar before tooth came through, and made it break surface!!

Was MMR ok? We did ours late too

Coolmama · 21/06/2006 09:12

Hi dreamteamgirl - DS is much better - we went to the dentist who said that he has actually pushed the tooth back into the gum (every time I think about that I shudder in sympathetic pain!) but the upside is that it will slowly come back out again - in the mean time I have to massage the gum every day and the poor lo does not enjoy that one bit!But he is eating and happy so is clearly not in too much agony. I now just have to deal with the tidal wave of maternal guilt that crashes over me every time I see my poor child on the floor, blood pouring from his mouth!
His MMR went fine, we just have to wait and see if there is any reaction in about a week - the actual shot wasn't too bad and seemed fine this morning.
have a good day!

TheBlonde · 21/06/2006 10:15

Coolmama - glad to hear all is okay with the tooth

dreamteamgirl · 21/06/2006 15:20

Oh I know EXACTLY what you mean about the blood everywhere! Mouth wounds bleed so much dont they? Is he eating again now?

Our MMr was ok, high temp 2 or 3 times, but otherwise fine

Coolmama · 22/06/2006 19:42

Poor thing - I think it's like a sore toe - once it hurts, you stub it on the bed, the door, your shoe etc - because DS tripped today and banged his mouth again - more blood, more tears, more blind-mummy-panic -

  • but he fed himself his tea and had his beadtime bottle, so am hoping that all is okay - jeez - been a helluva week! I think I am just going to start drinking heavily ..........

Just bumping to see if anyone is still around with Feb 05 kiddies

Coolmama · 17/07/2006 09:11

still here - we've been in the park a lot enjoying the weather and just having fun! - "He of Smashed Tooth" fame is doing fine and really sweet at the moment - gives DH hugs and kisses - mummy gets zip, of course, but it is lovely to see the two of them - we are off on holiday in a weeks time, but am still around this week - how are you doing?
