after a brief hiatus Y guzzled baby porridge this morning. he likes orange coloured foods: carrot, butternut squash, sweet potato. he also loved pear. he doesn't like potato or brocolli.

I bought the organix pots today because they have a book offer on them but also because fresh fruit never stays around long enough to be purreed in this house Grin I have a papaya, parsnips and peas to puree tomorrow.

goodnight ladies and gentleman xx

Wanna, my boy started on solids but had to stop as his reflux flared up. He is 26 weeks today and looks so sad when we eat. I am just waiting for him to settle on his meds and we will start again.

YW thank you for the tips for weaning. Very useful.

Evil (((hug))) I second talking to him about the dangers and how to manage such feelings.

cross post vq but your Dr sounds awful and I think you should make a complaint when j is feeling better and you are feeling stronger.

That GP is a fucking cunt VQ. Nuff said.

We are weaning here, as an experiment first, but it does seem to be helping his reflux, and he is eager. So we are going with it. I wanted to wait. And do BLW. Yet here we are at 5 months with puree. Bloody kids huh?!

My boobs still feel odd even 4 months later. I don't know why. It has like the skin has become thin and incredibly uncomfortably sensitive. I can not bear hands put around me from behind in a cuddle. It actually makes me feel sick. It isn't just boobs, but above them too. Quite weird really. I still get tingles in them, and feel the let down from time to time!

Just to amuse pig and vq : wanna I advise suppository medication. Much easier to give I believe that paracetamol suppository over there needs to be prescribed.

All the formula companies are very insistent on their next stage milk. A month or so late won't hurt if the iron is watched. DD1 wouldn't have stage 2 for two months after 6 months, and I'm not moving to stage 2 with LO til her paed appointment at 7 months. Breastmilk doesn't magically produce different stuff at 6 months (which is why we wean) so formula won't either. That said, your doctors seem to know diddly squat (sorry pig )

BP Grin he is a good GP, but his manner can be a bit off at times. His sense of humour is a bit off too.

Did I say that he said how well J looks? He says that every fucking time. I am glad J looks well, but the doctors just seem to see a fat smiling baby and zone out.

Will stop whinging now.

I am addicted to Bubble Mania.

JJ Shock ! People are bastards.

VQ I am still feeling exactly the same about bf. I think we gave up on the same day if memory serves me correctly? I have stopped crying though (except in the shower becausw my boobs are fucking agony).

Thanks all for your kind words. I feel so stupid for being in this situation. I was only ever kind to the woman Sad . Serves me right for not trusting my gut instinct. ..

VQ thats horrible! Poor him. Hope the meds get him sorted.

S watches us eating but more in a "what are you doing" way rather than actually wanting some.

We have the highchair all ready to go, sat her in it and got really funny photos of her looking so bewildered!

I weaned DD1 at 5 months on baby rice. I want to try BLW with S. Excited and apprehensive all at once.

Is pear soft enough for first foods, or would some roasted butternut squash be better?

TheDetective · 25/04/2013 22:26

I have pureed banana, carrot, parsnip, and carrot and parsnip, with his milk added and all freezered up and ready to go.

I am still wondering what I was worried about!

O got stripped off for carrot.

O doesn't like calpol. It isn't the taste. It is the texture. He was the same with Omeperazole which is gloopy also. He will take the thin liquids like ranitidine and domperidone no problemo!

GT I actually felt really angry about it for the first time last night. I was thinking to myself how I feel like choices have been taken away from me. Like if I wanted two babies close together, I couldn't. The pressure from another pregnancy on my fanjo would be utter agony. And this made me Angry. Yay for the kicks though!

wanna pear should be ok if very ripe. If not chop it, add a tiny bit of water and shove in microwave a few seconds to soften it. Not enough to puree unless you want to of course. Oh, and leave to cool.

PR I am going to say yes. Simply because I actually believe that they will grow at any time. P NEVER follows the typical growth spurt timings

gt how lovely to be feeling kicks. Not so lovely if SPD is starting as that ends up feeling like you've been kicked in the fanjo. We are 25 weeks past birth and I still have pelvic pain :( physio has tried to manipulate it back but I am hypemobile se essentially its fixed at session and then I walk out the door and my stupid lax ligaments let it go back outta alignment again!! Does anyone else still have SPD pain? tits you were quite bad weren't you??

wannabedomesticgoddess · 25/04/2013 22:36

Do you all use your microwaves a lot during weaning? We havent had one since before xmas and havent really missed it. Probably should buy one.

I can stew the pear on the hob for a few minutes if its not ripe enough. Great idea!

Report
MsJupiterJones · 25/04/2013 22:36

Wannabe pear is a good starter as long as it's ripe. Silly Mummy here wanted to do naice organic fruit & veg but soon discovered the supermarkets put the organic stuff on the shelves when it's unripe and rock hard, presumably because it sells slower. Which got several ShockConfusedAngry faces. So we are on the pesticided but decidedly more edible normal stuff!

Report
TheDetective · 25/04/2013 22:37

GT I started having rumblings of SPD around 14 weeks. I started going to aquanatal and it knocked it on the head. Always felt better after a session, and then it just stopped around 19 weeks.

Report
TheDetective · 25/04/2013 22:38

I've steamed the veg, and pureed the fruit uncooked. I've used the microwave to unfreeze stuff, but would work in a jug of hot water too. Or just left out.

OMFG two nights in a row? My house is over fucking run with spiders this is a fucking joke. So my kids get healthy and the spiders move in? To my fucking nightie? I was ready this time and shook it, so the bastard fell out. Those spiders with tiny bodies and long spindly legs. They are taking over my house. Twats.

Weaning was going well until the fucking chicken pox set in and shes refused any food since Sunday. I did see some spots on the inside of her lip and on her tounge so it's no surprise really.

Pre pox she has tried carrot, butternut squash, banana, carrot and pea mix and baby porridge. Also a couple of Ellas kitchen pouches. Next on my list to try are sweet potato and broccoli (inspired by chasings O).

I can't wait to do all the finger food stuff. Only a couple of weeks to go. I find that so much easier than the puree stuff (but I'm a very lazy mum). I'll still do puree with E though as she needs it. Am enjoying the traditional way of weaning more than I thought I would.

wanna I am only weaning as have been advised by the dietician. I waited till 6 months exactly with DD1 and did BLW and would have done the same with E had the circumstances not been different.

You go vq Although it was hard work I'm glad you have finally got some form of result. I really hope it helps.
