O hated the liquid but would take the tablets crushed in water clarella

Clarella · 02/05/2013 17:59

fucking brought whole lot up now ffs.

Clarella · 02/05/2013 18:01

thanks detective have rung pharmacy and need to ask doc - sadly I'm on a kit day tomorrow so will have to leave it to dh. Hmm doubt he'll manage that on top of every thing else Hmm Confused

Clarella · 02/05/2013 18:04

oh detective it's so frustrating. my gp friend says it's really really underdiagnosed. hvs are useless

Clarella · 02/05/2013 18:05

read an article by lll last night about reflux and breast fed babies. apparently the no weight gain thing is a misnomer as they comfort suckle which is what G does all night.

ValiumQueen · 02/05/2013 18:31

J comfort fed all the time!

It seems DD2 no longer wants to wear nappies and has done a pee and a poo in the potty since deciding this. Little sod. I knew she could do it but was just deciding not to!

PetiteRaleuse · 02/05/2013 18:36

Little tip for purée refusers if over 6 months: a tiny bit of unsalted butter melted into it, and I mean the tiniest amount, goes down a treat here.

ChasingDaisy · 02/05/2013 18:58

O enjoyed nomming on carrot today. Don't think he swallowed much if any, but trying to remind myself that that isn't important at the moment.

BigPigLittlePig · 02/05/2013 19:12

Clarella I was told that the best way to give meds is to put the syringe as far into their cheek as possible (think hamster) and gently, continuously squirt. Doing this with F, she spits none of it out. It sort of bypasses their tongue apparently. Sorry if that's a bit grandma/eggs.

Papaya was sampled and very much enjoyed today, big gloopy sticky lump of papaya left behind, juice everywhere!

fruitpastilles · 02/05/2013 19:18

Didn't manage to find a chocolatey treat this morning but dp brought me a fresh cream slice from greggs when he went to the butchers to get the meat for the BBQ today, gonna nom on that in a min with a cup of tea, I've done nothing but eat crap and talk about food all day today!

StuntNun · 02/05/2013 19:18

Thanks BPLP I'll feed him papaya in the kitchen then to save the dining room carpet.

Love the way you get butter into everything PR! Did you have an awesome chocolate cake recipe btw? It's DH's birthday next week and I want to make him a birthday cake.

Kyz I learned the hard way that the best thing to do is to keep offering food and encouraging them to eat but not worry too much if it isn't eaten. You get much further chipping away at them slowly than making them eat something. My DS1 used to hate mushrooms to the point of them making him sick. For literally years I would put one mushroom on his plate, ask him to try it but not make a fuss if he refused it or gagged. Eventually he came round and started eating them and now he loves them and has extra helpings.

I've got papaya on this weeks shop for S to try. I've never actually tried it myself so I'm looking forward to it too.

BigPigLittlePig · 02/05/2013 19:28

I'm a bit undecided on it fruit - having had it fresh from a tree in the tropics, I thought it was lovely. But tis never the same when it's had to be flown halfway round the world. Still, all this yummy fruit is doing wonders for my skin!

fruitpastilles · 02/05/2013 19:35

I think someone else said they tried it for the first time when giving it to their LO the other day and didn't like it. I'm hoping I start eating more fruit again now that I'll be giving it to S, I ate loads while I was pregnant and have hardly touched any since she's been born.

PetiteRaleuse · 02/05/2013 19:48

Stunt if you PM me an email address I'll forward you the recipe. It's a BBC recipe that my mum adapted a little bit.

Paed says a 'nut' of butter (so a tiny bit) or a drop of olive oil if they are of slow bowels ie get constipated easily. Works for LO.

PetiteRaleuse · 02/05/2013 19:55

But yes I use masses of butter. It tastes better and I learned to cook in France. My MIL smears half a pat of butter on chicken before roasting it. I'm not quite that extreme...

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 19:55

I looooooooooove fruit. When I was pregnant I was having about 6 portions a day. Yummy! Now I barely have any. No reason. Just laziness. A packet of crisps is much easier to stuff mindlessly into my face than say a pomegranate or kiwi fruit.

Today though p and I nommed some melon. She sooked on a slice while bouncing and watching me nom a big slice. She found it very amusing!

My mum used to really encourage my love of fruit which was ace. On Monday my dad would take my brother carpet bowling. My sister and I would get the equivalent entrance fee to spend on a treat. I would always go for some fruit - pomegranate being a favourite but also kumquats or other delicious things. I really think it is just in you. Neither of my siblings are into fruit at all. Not remotely. I would love p to love fruit too but I will let her decide.

fruitpastilles · 02/05/2013 19:55

QQ what exactly do I do with the papaya when it comes? Do I just mash it or does it need cooking? feeling so thick asking this Blush

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 19:57

But I'll bet it is delicious PR!

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 19:57

Just mush it up fruit

PetiteRaleuse · 02/05/2013 19:57

You wait til it is ripe and mush it up, removing the seeds

PetiteRaleuse · 02/05/2013 19:58

Yeah it's yum :o

BigPigLittlePig · 02/05/2013 19:58

Fruit I skinned it, cut into quarters then scooped out the hundreds of seeds. I think I will try mashing and freezing some too though. F just had a big chunk to suck eat.

fruitpastilles · 02/05/2013 19:58

Ahh nice and easy then, that's good Grin

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 20:03

fruit papaya is like a cross between a mango and a melon. It has snotty seeds inside - just scoop them out and chuck them. Use a spoon to spoon out the flesh and mush with a fork. This is if you want to spoon feed. If you are offering as a finger food just cut into sticks.
