We get all our Bank Holidays back at the end of maternity leave to add onto our accrued holiday fom while we were off. (I work for a large well known electricity and gas system operator) I realise am lucky and have noticed similar good mat packages in other companies that are engineering based as they Are keen to encourage women into engineering.

Thanks pass - shiny new fire truck worked a treat - 8-2-6-8.
Happy birthday mm - I hope the sunshine continues for you today and you have a lovely day.

I used the term wankbadger to a friend yesterday, and she nearly fell off her chair laughing. Thanks to the quiche, it has become an intergral part of my dictionary - forgot that it isn't that way for non-quichettes.

ValiumQueen · 07/04/2013 09:20

Wankbadger was on a post on my FB last night. I am now wondering if my friend lurks or knows someone from here. She is an island dweller - is it in common use there yw?

TheDetective · 07/04/2013 09:29

It's ok I've heard wankbadger a few times before. I forget it's origin though...

Clarella · 07/04/2013 09:50

have taken a haliperidol tablet. can't take the anxiety any more. I've never had one before. didn't take in pregnancy in the end but was discharged recently from perinatal team with assurance was ok ti take if needed as not allowed beta blockers when bf. hand holding required. anyone ever had? I halved it.

Elizadoesdolittle · 07/04/2013 09:52

Sorry to read of others having toddler issues. We aren't having a great time of it here either, in fact DD1 is on the naughty step as we speak!

I had a lovely time last night. Went out for a friends birthday and drank far too much wine. Has been a long time since I've done that. Luckily I don't have a hangover today.

Happy birthday mm. Hope you have a lovely day x

TryingtobelessChunkyChick · 07/04/2013 10:00

Happy birthday mm

I say the amber anklet is the magic charm ppidj Last night DS woke at 4.45 & 5.45, so I refused to feed him, dummy+doggy -sleep-association-soft toy-ed him and he went to sleep until 7. However, noticed DH hadn't uses a sock-on to keep the anklet on, so it was in his sleeping bag. Load of cobblers? Maybe. Worth every penny for a good night's sleep though Grin

evil BPLP YW et al I've shouted at DD & DS at times of frustration. They still smile at me and run (in the case of DD) for cuddles so I figure I've not scarred them or anything. Cut yourself some slack. We're human not robots.

VQ interesting about BHs etc. As a teacher, I never get paid for BH :( Although apparently I get paid for 28days hols a yr but have to use them in the school hols or something Confused Sometimes I wish I was in a job where AL could be added to ML but swings & roundabouts I guess. At least this way, I'm off work when the kids are. Oh and spot in about chasing/violence...

stunt hope you had a good night.

Have those people that have fussier-feeding babies because they get distracted tried nursing necklaces? Bit pricey, because of the nature of the materials and construction having to be baby safe, but I bought a lovely rainbow tacky one that doubles as twiddle beads and teething ring from (I think, can't find the info) monkey moma. :)

Passmethecrisps · 07/04/2013 10:05

Glad the fire engine was effective Grin

Haaappyy biiiirrrrthdaaaaay MM!

PetiteRaleuse · 07/04/2013 10:07

LO no better. This is beyond a joke. It's all really getting me down now. And I am sick of being told in RL that it is normal to have children ill. Yes it is. But not the series of crappiness we have had this winter. Hr entire life to date has been lurching from one cold to another, to flu, to bronchiolitis, to ear problems, to more colds. It's horrible. Great to know her natural immunity is running out soon. I wonder what she'll be like then.

StuntNun · 07/04/2013 10:39

Wasn't bad Chunky in that I didn't get woken by J but unfortunately I just couldn't sleep well on the air bed so I still kept waking through the night. J had his dream feed at 10:30 but only took 3oz of EBM at 3 a.m. then wasn't really hungry this morning when he woke at 7 so I'm wondering whether to try and night wean him. I don't mind feeding him in the night but I'm not convinced he really needs it. I'm trying to feed him again now and he's not really bothered.

PR I wonder why your kids' resistance is so low. Would you consider supplements? Baby vitamins might help to get some extra vitamin C and maybe iron. DD1 might benefit from vitamin C and zinc.

BigPigLittlePig · 07/04/2013 10:55

pr you have had more than your fair share of illness Thanks
clarella handholds for you sweetheart xx

The gaviscon effect is wearing off, so I'm going to get F to the gp tomorrow for some ranitidine. The poor little sausage is moaning/shrieking in pain the whole time, and back to snacking for 30 seconds then screaming. She's finally fallen asleep in the sling after I paced up and down the ktchen for 15 minutes.

PetiteRaleuse · 07/04/2013 11:05

Supplements are prescribed from birth here stunt even though ther should be everything they need in the milk.

What we really need is some decent weather so we can get out and breathe properly.

In fact what they really need is a complete change of everything.

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 07/04/2013 11:07

Morning everyone, I've managed to almost miss an entire thread! Happy Birthday mm!

Hope you're ok clarella Smile, hand here if you need it xx

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 07/04/2013 11:09

Sorry to hear your LO is poorly again PR, your family really deserve a break from illness xx

Kyzordz · 07/04/2013 11:12

Morning all! Good night here last night, pass your fire truck worked!! Bed at 7:45, df at 10:20, I was back in bed by 11, he woke me coughing at 3:30 but didn't wake up himself, I woke up at 7, fed him and he stayed asleep till 9. I wonder when he would've woken this morning if I didn't feed him when I woke. Seriously considering trying to drop df. Trouble is I'll panic when he is fussy in the day if there's no df to fall back on!

Happy birthday mm!

He did well last night then det :)

Glad you had a good night bplp was hoping you would do

Sorry to read of your anxiety clarella no advice I am naturally anxious and virtually useless but I can do hand holding and hugs

Not tried a nursing necklace chunky but will check them out, thanks :)

Oh pr :( I wish the illnesses would fuck the fuck off and leave you the fuck alone. I'm guessing they keep getting poorly because they are struck down with something when recovering from the last thing. It's so unfair :(

PetiteRaleuse · 07/04/2013 11:23

It's my fault. I thought nursery would be good for DD1 to keep her occupied while the baby arrived, and good for me so I could rest a little. She had had one cold in her life before she went there, and since she started has been ill. And brought everything home to LO too. This should be the end of it as nursery is finished now.

I should have kept her at home.

ValiumQueen · 07/04/2013 11:26

clarella I do not know anything about caring for pregnant or breastfeeding mummies with anxiety. I know of Haloperidol, but my knowledge is of completely different circumstances. It would be wrong of any of us to give a professional opinion of you as we do not know all the history etc. I would encourage you to contact the mental health team to say that your anxiety is at a level that you cannot cope with, and that you have taken it. I am hoping that they would know what is safe etc, and will monitor you closely. Please read the leaflet and look for side effects as they can come on quite quick with that drug. Please make sure your people in RL know how you are feeling, and that you are taking it. Also make sure you and others monitor your safety for feeding, especially at night -staying awake, coordination etc. Remember side effects always make for scary reading, but are often rare and it is important to be informed. Take care honey, and do not be afraid to consider formula feeding if it will ease some of the pressure. You have done so very well. I cannot remember if you mix feed already or if LO even takes a bottle. Remember sippy cups work too. Big hug x anxiety is horrid.
