Ledkr think I'm going to say not put her underwater - she just chokes and cries everytime when it happens. Tbh I hated putting my head underwater when I was little too (I refused to do swimming lessons when I was about 4 because I hated it so much and I can remember the lessons and how much I hated them) and DM is the same with not putting her head underwater . The teacher always asks me before she does it and I give a Confused look and a hesitant nod. I guess I just assume she knows best re: swimming but I'll be more gentle for a while. Love the fact Dilly can swim, there was a girl like that in our swimming class last term - just threw herself in the water all the time - she had no fear!

Ledkr · 19/05/2013 21:07

Yes reastie I agree. I'm a strong swimmer and life guarded as a teen but I hate being underwater too. Always have.
I told the swim teacher I wasn't doing it with ella and we had a but if a stand off. I didn't go again. Hold her close and let her do it in her own time.

wigglesrock · 20/05/2013 08:49

Morning all

Sometimes ledkr I kiss the tv that Anna watches when she gets up Blush , although I'm growing weary of Shaun the Sheep, Mr W bought her a box set but she likes the same 2 episodes over and over and over.

reastie hope swimming is a bit less agggh for you. I'm such a bad parent, I dont do any kind of lessons until they're at least 3. I know feel guilty. Anna is still meh about the pool.

We had a lovely day for Sofias communion, it pissed down but in the end it didn't really matter! They all looked gorgeous, and the boys were beautiful in their "good" trousers and Converse Grin

Sofia in true tradition spent Sat evening counting her Communion money. I did feel like an extra in the Godfather for parts of the day. It's already burning a hole in her pocket and she spent a blissful 30 mins in H&M yesterday Smile

Off to Asda - living the dream!!

Hi all
Reastie, I second Ledkr, I never ducked Ben and have yet to duck Noah in the swimming pool as it just seemed drastic!! Funny you should say that Alice was scared, I took Noah swimming Friday, and he cried and clung to me!! I was so surprised but then it has been months since we last went. By the end though he was jumping in. I di let go of him once to see if he would float with his armbands but he went under, and I could see him almost thinking ' I trusted you, and you let me go!!). We're off to Looe next week and plan on swimming most days.

I pick up my new car later this week, very excited!!

Wiggles, glad the communion went ok. Love Sophia!! Hope you enjoyed Asda!!

Work is blah, but there are cakes!! Have eaten one already and may have to go back for more!!

I can't see too far back to read all your messages so will just say hi to all.

Reastie · 20/05/2013 13:34

ems enjoy the new car. What colour is it ? Envy of the cake at your work.

Wiggles love the communion piccies on fb, Sophia looks very pretty and smart, like a mini bride! Grin at all her money

Off soon to swimming lesson. Wish me luck. Alice hasn't had her afternoon nap so it will probably all end disastrously but guess I should try.

Just had the kitchen shop come to do a final measure up before they make the kitchen . Hopefully should be fitted in a couple of months

Reastie · 20/05/2013 17:43

Swimming update (I'm sure you're all desperate to know how it went!). She was fine (phew) but very certain she was not going to go under the water. DM came too so that distracted her and she got to see her little friend which cheered her up.

Ledkr · 20/05/2013 18:45

Aw that's nice to hear. It's no good terrifying the poor buggers.
I may open my own swim school.
Ledkrs laid back swimming lessons.
No need to even get in if you don't want to and certainly no ducking (or petting of course) Grin

Reastie · 20/05/2013 18:58

Grin to no petting

americanexpat · 20/05/2013 20:16

That's good news, reastie. I never put my head under, as I nearly drowned as a child and don't like bodies of water full top. I do manage to put my head under in the bath though. Grin Do you use those floaty armbands or a vest or anything? The outdoor pool is opening here next week- last year he just clung to me but I want him to feel more comfortable/independent in the water.

wiggles - are you relieved it's finally over? Grin She looked very lovely.

Emski - enjoy your new car!

ledkr - Grin at no petting.

wigglesrock · 20/05/2013 20:28

americanexpat relieved is putting it mildly Grin I wasn't sure about the whole thing to begin with, and schools are a bit different here, there really isn't a choice Smile but it was lovely, the kids enjoyed. It was quite light on the old religion and they seemed really tight as a class, it was really really nice but thank Christ Liv doesn't do hers for another 3 years, tbh not sure how she'll be doing on the religion front at that point. She can't even be bothered to feign interest Mr W is very proud

ledkr petting was allowed at our swimmers. The sign said "no heavy petting and there was a picture to prove it Shock Getting ready for The Fall tonight?

Anna has suddenly become very Daddy attached at the minute. We were together all weekend (a rarity for us) and he took Sofia to the theatre last night as a treat and Anna wailed for about an hour "I want my Daddy back"Shock It was like a re-enactment of Kramer vs Kramer.

OP posts:
Ledkr · 21/05/2013 20:29

wiggs heavy petting in our house is making each other a sand which these days Grin
The fall is soooo good. I'm gutted when it ends.
Sorry I'm going to be very self indulgent now but
DS GOT FULL DLA he is so relieved.
Has been living on a pittance with no money to do anything or go anywhere. I have been helping him with rent and buying his groceries.
He can afford a nicer place to live now.
It's amazing.
Oh and I'm celebrating in the bath while Ella is at guides then its pizza a d dance moms on the bio channel. It's our guilty pleasure.

wigglesrock · 21/05/2013 20:44

Thank fuck ledkr , must be such a relief. I could tell how worried you were. I love a bit of good news.

I'm loving the Fall, I keep getting a bit distracted by the locations and Mr W has been on nights the past few Mondays so he hasn't watched it yet. He's threatening to watch it on catch up and he will therefore be unbearable - "oh that's not how that would happen", "oh we don't do that" Hmm It's called fiction for a reason pet! Yes we haven't had much in the way of heavy petting either Wink

Off to get caught up with Case Histories - I love a bit of Jason Isaacs Wink

Let's hope mr wiggs doesn't meet a detective constable who barks her room number at him then shags him senseless in her dishevelled clothes.
Who was that little boy waving at him when he got shot btw?
Thanks for the good wishes. He's going to be able to enjoy his time before dialysis now bless him. He so deserves it.

wigglesrock · 21/05/2013 21:06

To be fair I think Mr W would wee himself if that situation ever arose.

That was his son, did he not shout "Daddy" ?

OP posts:
Ledkr · 21/05/2013 21:27

I thought that was to his daddy in the house. Obviously wrong cis dh agrees with you.

ILovePonyo · 22/05/2013 08:23

Brilliant news ledkr, really pleased for you and your son. The waiting is horrible isn't it, must be such a relief for him.

Where is your early morning thread? D and A sound so similar, A rarely plays by her self and if she's watching tv I have to comment on everything with her (she knows when I'm not listening properly either!) I got her some colouring sheets and she made ME color in while she dictated the colours Shock

I did Grin at her fearlessness at swimming pool, when I took A she freaked out a bit and clung to me for ages before going in.

Hope everyone is ok, I have my second session of counselling with cruse later, the first was good even though I was dreading it a bit, think I've got a good counsellor who knows her stuff, we ended up going half an hour over time as the clock in the room wasn't working Confused

Ledkr · 22/05/2013 15:26

Ponyo if you have an I phone I have an hilarious clip of her at the pool kamikaze style.
D now beckons us and says "come on then" if she wants to go outside or anywhere else!! Just built a lovely park style play area in the garden but we have to be out there with her
I bought a lush free standing double hammock to lie on to pacify her but I got it out to put together and put it away again as far too complicated to erect (giggles) glad counselling is good for you x
Sports day today. Ella didn't really appreciate me n DIL going with our flask of tea and commenting on the fit teachers.
She's such a bore lol.

Reastie · 22/05/2013 15:48

Ledkr Grin of the fit teacher talk.Envy to your hammock. DM had one of those and it's lovely to lie in and read when you get the delights of a minute to yourself . Great news btw re: the DLA.

No talk of the fall please ladies, I've taped them all. DH wants to watch it in one hit when the series has finished so I have to wait . And in other bad news my series link forgot to work on the apprentice last night :( Might have to catch up on iplayer later

Ponyo hope it goes well with cruse. Grin to the session going over time as the clock stopped working

hobknob where are you?

One more day and then half term . I'm organising a school trip for Friday though involving driving my GCSE class to a fish and chip van (it's educational, honest Grin ) so it's going to be a stressful day I think as I always worry about these things

Have all the IL family over at the week end for lunch so busy tidying and baking to make it look like I'm always a domestic goddess Wink

wigglesrock · 22/05/2013 18:12

ponyo hope your appt goes well. Anna likes to ask to colour in, then she tries to stick the crayons onto her ear lobes like earrings Hmm

ledkr we have the joy of sports day next week. Absolutely no fit teachers at all. The female teachers are gorgeous Envy but not even I can find a slightly yummy note in any of the men.

reastie the girls stopped today until Tuesday - yay

I think you have 2 hopes re keeping schtum about the Fall and one of them is Bob Hope I'll try my best not to let anything slip out but that bit at the end where the aliens lit up the shipyard had to be seen to be believed Grin

OP posts:
americanexpat · 22/05/2013 18:38

ledkr - great news for your DS! I'm also quite Envy of your hammock. I've informed DH that we'll be getting one for the porch and he insists I'll never use it. Hmm Did you ever get your wall sorted?

Bank holiday weekend here too. We're driving to my parents' house Saturday morning to spend the weekend. We haven't seen them since the beginning of March and L keeps asking about them. Hopefully the weather holds as I've bought L a sprinkler to put in the back garden there.

Reastie · 22/05/2013 19:31

Am I the only one Shock and Envy that american has a big enough porch for a hammock?!

Wiggles you'd better be joking with the aliens or we will be having words Wink

Ledkr · 22/05/2013 22:24

Ella told dh that the most embarrassing thing I did was run with the buggy when the bell went to change to next activity! All the kids stampeded so I just did too Grin really fast too. Honestly my humour is wasted I tell ye.
We have just booked for our local festival. Friday night alone and sat n sun with girls.
Soul to soul are headlining for those who remember them!

Ledkr · 22/05/2013 22:26

*reastie+ wiggles is confused I think. There are no aliens in the fall. How could there be with all the zombie activity in the Olympic village

americanexpat · 23/05/2013 14:01

reastie - don't worry, it's not a glamourous porch or anything, just a screened porch at the back of the house overlooking the garden. But I can shove L out the door and lounge on my hammock while he runs circles around the garden. Grin

ledkr - RUNNING?! She must be mortified! Shock Grin

MizK · 26/05/2013 12:21

Hey yall, what a gorgeous bank hol weekend. Wish I had ledkrs hammock righy now!

Hope everyones enjoying the break, am sunning it in Matlock today, bring on the fish and chips!
