back to bed ... transfer time

Report
Lilliana · 05/03/2013 03:08

4 1/2 hours for first ( and longest stretch) so not too bad i suppose.

Contradiction i feed to sleep. L will not self settle preferring to cry or chat to herself rather than simply shut her eyes. I know i should put her down sleepy etc but it is such a battle (lazy)

VQ we are having a cleaning at home day tomorrow too.

Welcome Luis!

Kyz think all much t time suggestions have been given already.

L doesn't giggle :( she is 13 weeks so a bit younger than some getting worried she just doesn't find me funny.

Hope more people are getting good sleep.

contra I still feed LO to sleep, not much choice , she just falls asleep by the end of the 8pm feed and we then transfer her upstairs. She may stir a little in between and my wake a bit, and if she does we turn on Ewan and more often she goes back to sleep.

Can't remember who mentioned laughing .. detective ? My LO rarely laughs out loud. She smiles loads makes gestures like she's laughing silently but to actually laugh out loud she also needs to see something new... Bloody hard work to get a loud giggle from her! In fact I will post a video of one she made at the weekend on Facebook

Erm I'm sure I has more to say but I still have baby brain and memory like a sieve !

Right , LO is a sleep after first night feed ... Hoping its going to be the only one and the next one to be at 7am !! If so then it seems we have finally clear of the sleep regression we had last week! Fingers crossed !

Contra J feeds to sleep then wakes up when I try to sneak away. He is terrible at self-settling. I managed to put him down asleep yesterday at 7 after an hour of crying and he slept for 45 minutes then woke up crying. I was quick enough to get the dummy in and he slept for another 45 minutes. This time I wasn't quick enough and we had another hour if whinging before DH got him over to sleep. He can't seem to settle himself to sleep just gets more and more upset. Still we got five hours between feeds tonight which was a relief. I hope he'll sleep at least some of the rest of the night.

I'm off to the breastfeeding support group today. I'm not sure why since I'm still thinking about giving up at 16 weeks but it's so painful. I thought J's tongue tie had resolved because he can stick his tongue out now but I'm still getting pain in feeding. May have to invest in more Lanisoh if only it weren't so expensive.

Detective try lifting O up high then putting his tummy against the top of your head and turn your head from side to side. This always gets a laugh out of J although you risk a bit of puke!

Stunt that has gotten a laugh too! First and only time as usual! Contrary much?!

5 hours. Good. On to the right track. Hoping this is the only feed.

Difference tonight? Extra layer of blanket and dentinox on bedtime bottle.

Fucking fucking hell the fucking teat is blocked AGAIN. The only way to unblock is to leave a screaming baby and go rinse it with water from kettle. Arrrrrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhh.

Well just woken E for her 5am feed. God it feels horrible waking her up. She was absolutely sparko, as was I! Still I got 3 hrs sleep in between feeds and hopefully I will go back off for a couple of hours.

detective grrrrr. You're using the latex teats right? You're not supposed to put sterilise those in a steam one or boiling water if I remember rightly are you. How do you sterilise them?

PurplePidjin · 05/03/2013 05:12

1 1/2. 1 1/2. 1. 4the feed of the night, and he seems to genuinely be feeding, not just there for the hell of it iyswim.

Chances of him going back after this? Two. Slim and fat.

TheDetective · 05/03/2013 05:13

They are the silicone ones Eliza :( and steam sterilised.

O has cried himself to sleep before the avent bottle is ready. I'm off to do the same now. :(

Sorry detective sounds very stressful :( hope you are all getting some sleep now.

1 1/2 hours and up again. We seem to get our longest stint at the beginning and then anything goes. If L thinks she is getting up for the day she has another think coming.

Pp sounds like a rough night. Will he sleep better with you? Might be worth it so you both get some sleep. We did this with L when her sleeping was worst. She would do 1/2 hour in the cot but 3+ on me. Wasn't the best sleep but better than what i had been getting. After 4-5 nights we went back to putting her in her cot and she has slept better since. Think she kind of needed her body clock resetting.

Eliza it seems wrong to wake a sleeping baby but at least you know it is working

Another 4 hrs so not bad really. My day starts now. Girls up and singing. J feeding. DH snoring. J has done a poo so will change him shortly. He does not want to start his day yet. He should have stayed asleep then!

Odd dreams continue. Cannot describe, but very odd.

ValiumQueen · 05/03/2013 06:15

detective very annoying! Does the packaging on bottle say anything about thicker milks?

Lil, i can't move for the cricked neck if we co sleep Sad and it makes no appreciable difference that i can see when we've tried.

Report
StuntNun · 05/03/2013 06:30

Detective you could try widening the hole in the teat with a hot needle. It's not recommended because of the risk of leaving jagged bits of silicone around the hole that could detach but if you were careful you could try it.

J is asleep on me, DH is downstairs and there is NO TEA! I want DH to bring me tea and take J away and change his nappy. What are my chances? Considers phoning DH to tell him to get his arse up here but he's probably having breakfast. There's an in-joke in the Stunt household: "I spy with my little eye something beginning with T." "Mummy! Mummy begins with tea."

Welcome Luis

We feed to sleep contra (and she doesn't roll yet either!) I know I need to put a stop to it but when her sleep is so poor anyway I just can't face doing anything that will make it harder

pidj hope you got back to sleep. They have to start sleeping soon right? Right?

detective that sounds crap. That's because of the thicker milk I assume?

Right, transfer time. Might get 5 minutes sleep before DD1 wakes up.

det aw! Sad and grrr Angry big hug
I'm up again so no long stint was planning on going to town like a human! don't want to do this tired alone incase I leave dd on a train or something. As its Cardiff it seems like it must be respected you can't just pop in.
I know that's messed up something from my childhood when I lived further away...trip to the big city was scary and meant planning and being v careful.
text my friend last night to say I maybe coming in and could meet her but now I can't tell her I'm not cos she in effect told me off last time I text her early and said it woke her up. was feeding and text her at 5 thought she would have her phone off.

oh and glad too its not just me feeding to sleep. I'm just still doing what I can to get through day and night - not that I don't have fun.
still can't help feeling - and influenced by lots of books - that I should be more organised with everything -less lazy- and should be putting dd down at certain times waking her up at certain times. if she slept 11 hours every night then it would be easy to start to say right I'm going to wake her earlier every day. how can she go 11 hours one night then 2.5 and 4 the next?
sorry I know no-one can answer this!

Right, I'm going to try mashed up banana today. Have decided her first food should not be carrots, and that is the only suitable vegetable I have in.

Good morning everyone - sweary Wednesday tomorrow. Going to be a beautiful day here again.

Pennie there's loads to do, depends on what you like :) the wine making area by the river is nice, Little Switzerland is good for walking, and the lake at Echtnernach is pushchair friendly. Lux City is pretty child friendly and has some nice parks - the valley in the city is lovely too. If you're arriving today it's beautiful weather. There are a few nice places the French and German side of the border too.
