Detective Jonas rolled at 14 weeks and is swaddled - I thought it might stop him crawling (I'm hoping - I don't want an early mover!!!) but it doesn't seem to have hampered his rolling - I think because he's little its easier for him to move maybe? O's clearly working on other stuff.

TheDetective · 04/03/2013 22:10

YW Those things make him worse bizarrely enough. That is one of the reasons I dismissed it as being reflux a few weeks ago, because being flat improved the sickness! The night time when he was lay flat was the best time both for fuss free feeding and no vomiting.

TheDetective · 04/03/2013 22:13

O clearly is. Working on driving mummy potty! I feel like panpipe elf mum 24/7. A one woman band, full entertainment system. With surround sound!

Glad that the swaddling doesn't seem to be hampering the movements!

VQFSA has a ring to it don't you think Wink.

Kyzordz · 04/03/2013 22:21

det I don't swaddle and e still can't roll over. He loathes tummy time though I try to do it daily he manages 3 mins before full on crying ensues :( he can roll from back to side but has only done so a handful of times. Not sure where I'm going wrong with the tummy time tbh, been meaning to ask if anyone had any tips? vq I am going for fat as e's excuse too!

TheDetective · 04/03/2013 22:24

See he has real lower body strength and head control. But not so much arm control. Flailing would be the appropriate word for them! If he did roll, he'd just roll on to his arms like a stranded whale and cry!

I might make him do push ups Grin

PurplePidjin · 04/03/2013 22:28

2 1/2 hours, the first stretch. Bloody hope this isn't it for the night!

Kyzordz · 04/03/2013 22:30

Same here detective his legs have some power to them and he sits well with his head all screwed on right abs he CAN lift up when on his tummy, I have photos to prove it, but he just eats play mat and whines! His arms don't stay in the right place to hold him right, he flails pathetically!

Kyzordz · 04/03/2013 22:31

FC for a longer next stretch pp!

Currently doing dream feed as if you couldnt tell by my over posting!

TheDetective · 04/03/2013 22:37

Kyz That is where I find the breastfeeding pillow useful for tummy time! Or something rolled under his arms! Remember tummy time can be time spent on you too! Any time they are not on their back!

BigPigLittlePig · 04/03/2013 22:38

kyz F is the same - face plants & squawks angrily whenever I try tummy time. She's ok if I wedge a pillow under her, but she obviously has puny arms like her mother which can't support her. Head control is superb though mainly from playing super-baby and swooping through the air

Must go up to bed soon.

PurplePidjin · 04/03/2013 22:39

Thanks, I'm hoping this is a dream feed and he goes down for 4 hours+ now

MummaPanda · 04/03/2013 22:41

YW my Nora has a little knitted elephant that she loves to hug, mainly because its trunk is same shape as her bottle teat! Shes always trying to get it in her mouth. Good for hand eye coordination I suppose!

DETECTIVE cant be much help really, Nora rolled from tummy to back over a month ago and within a week she had mastered both directions, but she doesn't twist she just kinda leans until she goes over. and moved straight on to rolling from back to belly off the bed

Kyzordz · 04/03/2013 22:51

He does enjoy lying on my shins and being an aeroplane! He has good head control for that one :) he's a bit of a daredevil actually and likes if if you pretend to drop him| He has a m&p tummy time cushion, he hates it. He has normal cushions, slightly better with those and he does do a bit every night when I massage him and do his talc so I guess that counts :) he doesn't like being held like a baby much so is always sort of, upright, head near my shoulder kind of thing, does that count too? He must spend at least 2 bleddy hours a day like that!

Dream feed done, land of nod for me! Miss dp lots, but Friday will be here soon i hope

Kyzordz · 04/03/2013 22:52

Oops! I broked my post Blush

Contradictionincarnate · 04/03/2013 23:01

glad I'm not the only one whose lo isn't rolling yet. don't think I'm doing enough to encourage her though!

TheDetective · 04/03/2013 23:02

Yes it does Kyz!

DP was holding O on one of the bed pillows earlier and dropping him about 6 inches with the pillow, for a soft landing. O thought it was great fun!

Oh, I have to ask this! Does anyone elses babies only laugh at new things? Not the things that made them laugh before?! You have to find something new to get giggles from him. You just get the raised eyebrow and disappointed look if you try any of that old stuff that is just so yesterday!

Finickity bugger!

Contradictionincarnate · 04/03/2013 23:07

that's another thing dd has only really laughed once too... 13 wks tommorow!

fruitpastilles · 04/03/2013 23:08

S still isn't rolling either, she will be 16 weeks tomorrow. Glad others aren't either I thought she was behind!

Contradictionincarnate · 04/03/2013 23:23

anyone else Still only feeding to sleep? ... ie. not self settling?
if you are self settling what is your routine and is that in own room?

Elizadoesdolittle · 05/03/2013 00:15

Just catching up on thread. After today's initial excitement of the weight gain not much has happened. Had a visit this afternoon from the in laws and DD1 and since then I've been mainly eating mini eggs. Supposed to be the hottest day of the year here so far tomorrow so I hope to get outside for a bit.

contra re self settling, I used to feed E to sleep whilst at home but since we've been in hospital she's had to do a fair amount of self settling. I've just been putting her in the cot when she's awake but sleepy, putting on Ewan and she drops off. It's funny as I hardly use Ewan at home but he's worked a treat here.

I meant to go to sleep between E's 9pm and 1am feed but I ended up watching one day and it wasn't worth going to sleep by the time that finished. E has been sound asleep since 10pm so im silly really. I'm contemplating going for a cuppa but don't want it to keep me awake. Mind you it's going to be another hour or so yet that I can get some sleep so won't hurt I guess.

Elizadoesdolittle · 05/03/2013 00:24

I went to the parent room and there was a man in there....shock horror! I felt a bit weird in my state of undress and hospitals at night are a bit creepy I think so I bought the tea back to my room. I feel very naughty!

ValiumQueen · 05/03/2013 01:29

3 hours. Ho hum. Was having a really odd dream so quite glad to be woken up really.

A day of just me, J and the housework today. Looking forward to it.

LuisGarcia · 05/03/2013 01:55

Am I too late to join this thread?

Nippercat is 2 1/2 this week and has never slept. Nipperkitten was born 21112 and sleeps beautifully but her favouritest bed of all is my arms so I'm often up late.

Contradictionincarnate · 05/03/2013 02:34

welcome Luis
2 hours tonight! she is now greadily eating like I have been starving her! Sunday night was 11 hours ... will I ever understand this baby?,

Contradictionincarnate · 05/03/2013 02:39

oh and thanks Eliza I have a turtle (as opposed to a ewan) which worked at the beginning.
