Ignore VQ, let's have the recipe, PR. We have leftover stew (even nicer on day 2), with pastries tonight.

If you read Room on Horsey's suggestion, be prepared to cry. Especially those with little boys. I read it and couldn't stop imagining being in that situation with ds1.

I bought the incredible years on someone here's suggestion, sorry can't remember who, but it's an actual real book and not as easy to read whole BFing as kindle! Need to though, thanks for the empathy from other bfers with toddlers. Instructions are so much more effective if you can get stuck in and manhandle a 2-year-old into carrying them out, can't be done while feeding! And poor Teddy must be getting used to having to feed with me shouting. Not quite the recommended calm atmosphere!

gardenpixie32 · 13/02/2013 19:25

No offense taken VQ.

I plan to do next shop at M&S Grin

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/02/2013 19:28

Mmmmmm sardine sarney.

YellowWellies · 13/02/2013 19:31

Horsey am reading 'Why French children don't throw food' too on the tablet during the night feed. Its fascinating isn't it - I think J sleeps so well because we inadvertantly did 'the pause' during his early days because he was under the photo therapy lights for his jaundice so we couldn't just pick him up and sooth him at night. I'm not into parenting but books normally but am loving this.

glendathefedupwitch · 13/02/2013 19:32

Room is v sad!!! I am an avid reader and used to read 2/3 books a week - books read since 28 August - when I went on mat leave til now???? Big fat zero - I have tried I just can't concentrate or get into any story other than the gruffalo, how much I love you

I'm craving malt easer bunnies and hazelnut kitkats thank fuck dh bought a whopping bar of dairy milk

Love dicksplash snigger snigger

Brockle · 13/02/2013 19:32

I asked DH to get me some chocolate and he brought me two huge bars of fruit and nut. bloody marvellous Grin. he has either seen what a fucking awful couple of days I have had or it is an attempted val day present. I do not csre. I am going to scoff the whole lot. bet he leaves all the washing up, tidying up and kids packed lunches to me tho. nob. I think I am sweared out.

gardenpixie32 · 13/02/2013 19:34

YW I haven't read it but I have same thoughts on my girls. They self settle well and sleep well and I think it is because they were in incubators for the first 9 days of their lives and didn't get picked up as much as they normally would have. Also, having two means you can't instantly pick them up when they are upset etc.

BigPigLittlePig · 13/02/2013 19:37

I got self-settling envy earlier when a 10 week old baby at boob group popped his thumb in his mouth, rolled his eyes and went to sleep, whilst LO squawked and rubbed her eyes. I do love cuddles though Smile

Brockle · 13/02/2013 19:37

I make myself read every night for some semblance of normality. normally fall asleep with my glasses on and the book on my face though! reckon I will read 10 books this year rather than the 50 in the book thread. if we count kids books though I think I have prob read 50 this year already Smile

Passmethecrisps · 13/02/2013 19:37

I've read Room. I hated it for the first 20 pages or so then I loved it. Then actually I thought it went a bit meh. If I remember correctly.

I really must try to read more. I have read about 10 pages of my book since P was born.

I love 'dickspash' and I love the name change cat. I think this is the only time I have ever read a riled post from you.

They have been using wee brushes for smears for ages I think. Certainly in jockland they have. I have a kit I use for teaching. We have an old metal speculum which I try not to show them and use the plastic one instead but someone always spies the metal one in the box. Cue screaming and hysteria. Also cue some boy saying "dinnae worry lassies! It's no as big as ma willie!"

ChunkyChicken · 13/02/2013 19:42

Dicksplashes made me snort cat won't mention how fucking stupid I must be to not work out straight away who bagofwrathfulcats is Blush

DH home & gave me lots of kisses :)

Is it just normal hormones to be up and down like a bloody yoyo emotionally or is that PND? I am much happier today than yesterday but verged on the edge of losing it today with DD. Or rather, think I v briefly lost it; she was busy ripping up a picture from her paint set, I tell her off, she ignores me. So I turn her around to look at me as I crouch down, she literally screams at me. So I screamed back.Blush I did immediately calm right down & explained why it wasn't nice to scream & we got on with a nice afternoon. But its like perma-PMT with the moodswings :(

pikz do you need to have had a period to have a smear?

Had an egg & salad cream sandwich for lunch which is nicer than it sounds, promise!! But think it makes DS puke. Feed after his nap (so 2hrs ish after my lunch) & he seems to literally empty his stomach on me, the armchair, himself...

ChunkyChicken · 13/02/2013 19:46

Since they started using the brushes I don't get a re-call for 'abnormal result' issues that had me going back every 6 goddamn cunty mths!!!

YellowWellies · 13/02/2013 19:47

Dicksplashes and wankbadgers are two of my new favourite words. Grin Thank you ladies.

Corn beef hash for tea sans cheese. Would literally kill for Mac and cheese at the mo. And chocolate - oh dear god chocolate. Once I'm back on it am going to see how long I can persuade Jonas that brown food = Mummy's Grin

So far he's been a little unsettled after I tried soy lecithin last night but nothing screamy and he's certainly not in pain. Will do two more tests to see if the unsettledness is coincidence or my paranoia and then try soy itself and see how it goes. Come on baby Mummy needs a Chinese......

ChunkyChicken · 13/02/2013 19:48

DH cooking dinner = :)

DH complaining he's tired because he chose to have a few drinks, stay up chatting with a colleague & fail to get to sleep until half 3 after they'd gone to bed = Angry

Passmethecrisps · 13/02/2013 20:07

That is annoying chunky.

I was on 6 monthly recalls for smears as well. Back to normal now though.

Went to the chemist today to pick up P's suitcase of medicine to discover that there is a distribution issue with infant gaviscon so they have none. I have constant fucking anxiety about running out of anything for P (Christ only knows what I would be like if she had a full on mega-illness) so had got into a big discussion with the staff in the pharmacy about he best plan for ordering and collecting the drugs and formula. The formula needs to be ordered specially but I was all over that.

Turns out that drugs being sold overseas for higher prices than here mean that there are shortages of certain medications.

I tried one day without IG in P's bottle. It wasn't fun for anyone.

ANGRY FACE!!

glendathefedupwitch · 13/02/2013 20:08

yw awwwww apologies for the chocolate and food porn - you are a legend and your unselfishness to go with out for wee one is amazeballs!!!!

chunky I'm having a fabulous day - total different person to the morose witch I was yesterday!! Sometimes think repeating unwanted behaviour is sometimes the best way to get message across - with ds when he through a major throw yourself on the floor paddy at a friends - I did the exact same thing - he shut the fuck up, looked unimpressed and went to play with his car, same with dd1 when she bit me I gave her a gentle nibble on her hand - but that did t work she just grinned at me witch

Pikz · 13/02/2013 20:08

Chunky yea you do need a period first I think. I was one of the unlucky fuckers that even while bf got periods!

We had beef red Thai curry with broccoli in and jasmine rice. Am eating my way through ice lollies from when preggers.

Pr I want the mac and cheese recipe.

Cat...British gas are all dickwads

Passmethecrisps · 13/02/2013 20:11

I do love egg and salad cream.

When we were little my mum's choice of comfort food for us was boiled egg, still warm, chopped up and mixed with salad cream served in a mug. I have a vivid recollection of my sister at about 4 years old nodding sadly when mum asked if she would like 'egg chopped up in a cup'

BagofFuckingWrathfulCats · 13/02/2013 20:14

I'm better now I've done all that swearing. Saves me doing it at members of my household Grin

YW Just think of me as your sweary dictionary Grin

The bladdy power is fluctuating here. Thought it was a dodgy lightbulb to start with, but then DS appeared, sopping wet from the shower and in a towel, demanding to know what was going on with the lights. DH is cross cos computer keeps restarting. Another virtual slap for him. Had a look on FB though and it would seem it is happening all over North Yorkshire. Doom!

Might keep this name. It's quite CAThartic Grin

Passmethecrisps · 13/02/2013 20:14

I don't know about anyone else but I find myself looking at food quite a bit now and thinking "could YW eat this?"

I was standing in my fridge door the other day eating pepperoni straight front the packet, stopped mid chew and though "hmm. This is delicious. I wonder if YW can have pepperoni?"

BagofFuckingWrathfulCats · 13/02/2013 20:22

pass I know yw can't eat what I am currently troughing... massive slab of Cadburys Caramel.

horseylady · 13/02/2013 20:23

Yes room did end a bit meh like lol

Fingersmith is good and if you want a good solid book try pillars of the earth and world without end. Ken follet just fab!!

Yw - I avoid patent books but I quite like this one!!!

BagofFuckingWrathfulCats · 13/02/2013 20:23

Sorry YW I feel really guilty for eating it now :(

YellowWellies · 13/02/2013 20:23

Aww thanks Glenda Blush. giving up dairy has been for selfish reasons too - I couldn't handle not sleeping and the wee man's colicky screaming when I ate it. My life is much easier off it.

Pass I can't wait to be able to shop without label checking. Eating out is worse as waiting staff just assume you're on a diet so tend to say stuff is dairy free when it isn't because they want the sale grrrr Angry

Its not for long. Would have liked to have lost more weight from it - only half a stone so far - hmmmm I wonder how much I'd have gained if not cutting it with my previous Mars bar habit Blush

Passmethecrisps · 13/02/2013 20:26

See, wrathful I am not a massive chocolate fan. I can generally take it or leave it. Now Galaxy Caramel - that is a definite take. Om nom nom!
