BigPigLittlePig · 13/02/2013 21:25

Watching Africa with dh, and there is a scene where you see milk squirting out of an elephants teat as she lies on it. Dh giggles, rewinds it, and announces "it reminds me of you".

I'm still smiling reading Detectives post this morning..it simply says "Morning Fuckers" As already said I think she having tinternet probs.

blonderedhead · 13/02/2013 21:26

Ooh this conversation is timely. Been to docs and he reckons definitely CMPI. Has prescribed Nutramigen which will start in morning. Although L didn't have symptoms pre-formula, he is still mostly bf so I guess I should go dairy free too. If all the symptoms disappear maybe I can reintroduce slowly as it may not be a severe intolerance but better to have a clean slate I'd have thought?

I only have milk in tea & porridge, no cheese etc. But what to have for breakfast instead? Do they make non dairy spreads for toast? Is there milk in bread? Is there milk in BISCUITS?! Oh, this is going to be fun, isn't it. Worth it though if it works.

Any tips from non-dairy-ers welcome.

Hello all,
My nite off, isn't Hmm. DP new car broke down, he he he! Grin I had to recuse him at KFC. He always moans about my brand new car, and the one he's just bought has cost him a turbo, and some other service parts. Now he has to fork out for a new alternator! At least my expensive car works! Grin Grin

My friend and I have both said that our DP belong together, something about not liking change. They would make a pretty couple. Grin

N has reached 13,3 at 18 weeks, I spoke to a HV and she recommended feeding him 2 oz every 2 hoursHmm, and a different winding method. I'm to see them in two weeks if it gets any worse. So far, he dosn't want his milk every two hours. Confused

I've bought a hat for summer, and some sun cream. Just incase.

blonde good luck! most supermarkets have free from sections ... with ibs I did experiment a lot! love alpros chocolate milk its fab think it would be quite good as picnic treat for dd when older as you don't need to freeze... for those avoiding milk in chocolate I HIGHLY recommend their chocolate cups ... a chocolate sauce type thing I think they taste fab and v low on calory so I was using them as a good treat... I must have afters after every meal! Grin

Kyzordz · 13/02/2013 21:34

Gosh evil is he 18 weeks already?!?! Time flies!! :O

DM gave LO a bit of mash off her finger. He loved it. He is 14 weeks :/ too early for weaning, but the tiny taste won't harm him will it? I don't plan on it becoming a regular occurrence. I am a bit worried about him being so transfixed on other people eating though! He stares and chews and drools and then sticks his fist in his mouth and whinges. This is straight after a bottle too! Have made 9oz ones now. Also have said of course he's curious but doesn't mean he's ready to eat yet!

The above got me thinking pr, if in France it's normal to wean from earlier than 6 months, what are these magical signs of readiness? And what is this gag business I keep reading about? Do they not sort themselves out easily before 6 months or something? Sorry to direct q's at you just didn't want to ask DM as I think she is keen for me to start now and I don't want to make it look like I am considering it iyswim

Hope I get tinterwebs later when feeding LO!

kyzordz my mum keeps reminding me how she started me on (sneaky) baby rice at SIX WEEKS! She said I was too hungry, massive (think sumo wrestler) and in desparation started doing that. And I'm fine (wibble).

kissyfur · 13/02/2013 21:48

Have a read of the mumsnet weaning article that stunt linked to up thread kyordz - it's really helpful

zcos · 13/02/2013 21:48

blonde yeah you will have fun especially if you know its just temporary is good that an extremely large amount of babies grow out of the allergies as they get older Grin

kissyfur · 13/02/2013 21:49

Oh and no worries pass, we won't use it so happy to send even if u do get some tomorrow, think of it as back up Smile

YellowWellies · 13/02/2013 21:50

Blonder vitalite is dairy and soy free - the only brand that is.

Virtually all bread has dairy or soy in it. Tescos Finest stoneground brown bread and those white part baked Petit pans are the only breads I can have. Instead for brekkie I have a cinnamon and raisin bagel or some brands of crumpets - check the label - soooo many foods use dairy and soy, and horse as a cheap filler.

50% of CMPI intolerant babies have an issue with soy so don't dash for Alpro it could make it worse. Exclude both then reintroduce soy to test after 4-6 weeks.

Sainsburys have an amazing 'free from' range but, sorry, a lot of the best foods have no substitutes Sad Look out for Mrs Crimbles coconut macaroons (not the chocolate ones sadly) they're the closest to a decent biscuit you can have. Treats now include sorbet. Virtually all crisps are off limits too - other than some flavours of Kettle chips. Quick BF snacks are some brands of pork pie, Scotch eggs, nakd bars and fruit. Fecking fruit! Angry

Bizarrely 'value' products tend to use vegetable oils rather than butter so you can have a few things. Marks and Spencer has basically feck all for me to eat. Barstards.....

Pikz · 13/02/2013 21:56

Yw I know there is lots you can't eat but you can't consume horsey ok...

blonderedhead · 13/02/2013 22:05

Yellow that is brilliant advice, thank you. I was going to avoid soy to begin with as had followed your other posts. Do you know if either oat milk or almond milk is ok?

Sainsbos is my supermarket du choix so I will definitely be checking out their free from range. The news on crisps is a disappointment but I'm a big fan of fruit. I'll just keep it simple for now rather than looking for replacements but breakfast stumped me at first.

Feel so much more positive than last night. Just hope he takes the formula now!

blonderedhead · 13/02/2013 22:06

ps is horse off limits too?

ComradeJing · 13/02/2013 22:06

Hi all, can't read thread just now. Having breakfast in the middle of no where in New South Wales as have gone on a road trip with dh for his work.

Kids both have stinking colds. Dd enjoying seeing all the cows etc in the fields. Ds sleeping and snotty poor lamb.

Last night dd fell out of bed and has a wicked bruise on her cheek bone and a nasty cut on her forehead. Plus loads of scratches from playgroup. Hmm

Hope everyone is ok.

blonderedhead · 13/02/2013 22:12

Sorry to hear about DS's accident CJ. Hope the muthafuckin' cows are cheering her up and DS is sleeping ok despite snot.

YellowWellies · 13/02/2013 22:14

Blonder almond and oat milk are both OK. I use the former on cereal (again label check lots include milk) as its slightly sweet and cook with oat milk - I even made a fucked up white sauce the other night with oatly and vitalite! Both are RANK in tea - I'm onto chamomile tea for the moment. Oh another good or rather naughty snack is the wondrous wine gum - I now luffs them Grin

YellowWellies · 13/02/2013 22:16

Oh and Sainsburys free from fake chocolate brownies are amazing and dairy and soy free Grin

zcos · 13/02/2013 22:17

sorry blonde forgot soy is off limits too! thanks yw for swooping in to the rescue!
I heard milk causes wind so I have been avoiding that and having soy with cereal (had that when pregnant as normal milk not so good with my ibs either) ....
anyone try hemp milk ? really didn't enjoy that ...plurghh!
