As a few of us have popped early I thought I'd start us a post-natal thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mrsbugsywugsy · 16/02/2013 10:02

dd grew into newborn size a couple of weeks ago [

I also find they are short on the legs and long on the arms. I have one with a ridiculously small neck Confused

today I am going out for lunch with a friend and leaving dp with dd and a bottle of expressed milk. its going to be weird leaving her.

Pascha · 16/02/2013 10:09

I have a really stupid one with a small neck and poppers only on the legs. Needless to say it hasn't been attempted. I have far too much to do to fight with silly impractical clothes for babies.

i Have a horrible feeling all DS1's clothes will fit at the wrong season or be the wrong shape - DS1 stocky 91st centile boy, DS2 is skinny with long legs but sitting just above 9th centile.

Little and large Smile

Birdies · 16/02/2013 10:52

pascha so you had a big quiet one and now you have a small noisy one?! I had a small quiet one and now have a slightly bigger noisy one.... I wear earplugs Grin

DD2 was awake half the day yesterday instead of sleeping all day and she did a 4 hour stretch again....last time she did 4 hours was the only other time she was more awake in the day before bed. So I have a plan!

Pascha · 16/02/2013 11:15

I get the feeling Xanthe and Daniel would be a pair of noisy troublemakers if they got together Grin.

Mr Innocent is now asleep on my chest while I slob on the sofa. Daddy and DS1 are out so its all peaceful here at the moment.

Birdies · 16/02/2013 14:14

We would need industrial strength ear plugs if they got together. Xanthe sometimes sounds like a train pulling out of a station. She can be a noisy feeder too bless her. Apart from both being girls and having tiny noses, my two couldn't be more different to each other!

She is also asleep on me whilst I slob, though DD1 has just woken so the slobbing has ended.

Lostbobbles · 16/02/2013 15:37

Birdies/Marasme - what swaddle did you get cotton or fleece also what size as some review say they come up small. Thanks x

Birdies · 16/02/2013 15:47

lost my DD is outgrowing her small one so I'm going to order a large fleece one from amazon (so I don't need to use sheets on top)

MarasmeAbsolu · 16/02/2013 17:04

I use a cotton one 7-14lbs, but DD (6wks5days - just under 5 kg) is already outgrowing hers too!
I am always worried that a fleecy one won't be warm enough though - so I opted for cotton + light thin cotton alveolar blanket + fleece blanket on top...

Lora1982 · 16/02/2013 18:39

Boast alert.... Ive had sleep. Albeit two hours but still. Dp came in from work and id just finished feeding and changing and i said its your turn to look after him im going bed :-D still woke when he cried for dinz though cos daddy tried giving him cold milk (stoopid dad) so he cried for about 3 mins. Least dp got a taste of my day :-D

Lora1982 · 16/02/2013 18:43

Apparently it wasnt a cold bottle he just forgot to put the lid on properly and it spilled down him....

theboutiquemummy · 16/02/2013 19:23

Whoot to those getting some sleep Grin don't you feel like a different person with some under your belt

Anyone else's LO do big farts ? They are embarrassingly loud

We are getting sleep any where between 4 and 6 hours at a stretch but it really does depend on LO mood before we put him to bed. He's very awake during the day has a little nap after each feed but the little so n so fights sleep Shock

theboutiquemummy · 16/02/2013 19:24

He's 6 weeks and some days

AppleCrumples · 16/02/2013 21:21

Hi all i fell off again! This thread moves way too fast!

Yay to thosr getting sleep. Ivy is ok from 10 til 2 (even 3 sometimes) but then is pretty noisy so whilst she sleeps im up and down like a yoyo...boo. She's had a never ending cold and is proper snuffly from about 5 onwards.

Theboutique Ivy has been known to do some huge farts, my boys seem to think its the funniest thing ever! :)

All madness here! Half term this week and suspect i will be a gibbering wreck by the end. Just going to keep trying to get out so we don't all go mad Confused spring are you about? How do you cope with hols with all thr dcs?!

Pascha · 16/02/2013 21:38

I came across this article on baby sleep patterns earlier this evening. It makes interesting reading. www.parentingscience.com/baby-sleep-patterns.html

Daniel is more likely to sleep well up to about 2am, Apples, and after that anything goes.

CreepyCrawly · 16/02/2013 22:32

My nipples are killing me :( Nancy has been on me almost constantly since 6pm. Last night, she was on me from 8:30 until 2am. I can feel myself going insane :(

Lostbobbles · 16/02/2013 22:43

Thanks Birdies and Marasme, I have ordered both in large. Marasme I was thinking the opposite, thought fleece might be too warm as it says it 3tog. But our room is warm.

Boutique, DD2 is a little wind machine, I'm shocked but the noise and length of them. Very unladylike WinkShock good old infacol and gripe water

BuntyCollocks · 16/02/2013 22:47

creepy know the pain! Dd has been on me almost constantly since 5 pm and is still on now.

CreepyCrawly · 16/02/2013 23:15

How are you coping bunty? She falls asleep on me, as soon as I put her down she's awake and looking for more!

MarasmeAbsolu · 16/02/2013 23:19

I know colief breaks down lactose, infacol pulls bubbles together (for lack of better scientific explanation) but what does gripe water do?

Lost - i am always cold and hate being cold, so i guess i am worried inflicting cold onto DD!

Lostbobbles · 17/02/2013 02:13

Marasme- Gripe water is supposed to break down the trapped air and have an antacid effect.

Bunny222 · 17/02/2013 06:09

creepy have u tried nipple sheilds? Made all the difference for me, without them I wouldnt be breastfeeding at all... Hope ur feeling better soon.

Thought I was getting used to lack of sleep bit feel soooo tired today. And got a day packed full of visitors :-( DH complaining of sore throat, this is no time for 'man flu' behaviour!

BuntyCollocks · 17/02/2013 06:18

creepy a dummy!

If she takes it and goes back, I know she's not hungry and just wanting to suck.

After the marathon cluster session last night she woke at 5:40! Boobs were agony but she's feeding like a champ and feeling much better!

Can't wait to get this tongue and lip tie sorted.

CreepyCrawly · 17/02/2013 06:33

I'm not sure about a dummy or nipple shields just yet, we're still having a couple of minor issues with feeding.

She finally went down at 1:30, and just woke at 6 so not too bad, though 6 hours would've been nice. The problem now thoughts that we'll go back to bed and she'll be down until 11:30/12.

Pascha · 17/02/2013 11:05

Wish I could sort this hourly night waking lark! Dan just doesnt resettle after each sleep cycle.

AppleCrumples · 17/02/2013 14:45

Oh good lord, what a day! Started with Ivy bringing up whole feed all over the place and the other dcs running round going ewwww! Then while fighting whilst putting on a puppet show ds2 elbowed dd1 in the face. Cue massive nose bleed clots and all nearly ended up in a&e but it seems to have stopped and she seems ok.

Frankly i could use a drink now (and i'm teetotal) Shock
Will have to settle for tea :) these kids will be the end of me
