As a few of us have popped early I thought I'd start us a post-natal thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Dd is having a growth spurt, I think. Spent another 3 hours this Mornig attached to a boob, is finally napping since just after 12. Will wake her soon. Maybe :p

happyhow · 17/02/2013 16:06

Bailey refused to sleep all day yesterday which was nice seeing him all alert but meant very little got done when I was in the house.

Had a reunion with all my uni friends yesterday. Met for coffee early afternoon so that they could all meet B and then mother in law came to look after him in the evening so that we could go out for dinner. Had a great time and didn't want to come home but I guess that's how life has changed now... Got in just as he was waking for a feed but as I'd missed a feed while we out, my boobs were massive and sore and ended up having to express straight after - couldn't believe how much came out!!

Just back from a massive 2hr walk with B and hubby - knackered!

Creepy - I've tried B with a dummy a few times but he just spits it out. He doesn't seem interested in it at all.

Birdies · 17/02/2013 16:06

How would I know if Xanthe had a stomach bug? She's maybe not having as much milk and just did the most watery poo ever. And sicked a tiny bit. But she seems fine otherwise, not hot and having wide awakey time. Do your babies have watery poos as well?

Birdies · 17/02/2013 16:08

Ps Xanthe not keen on dummies either

BuntyCollocks · 17/02/2013 16:47

Cameron only does watery poo. :)

Re dummies - I have to hold it and sometimes tap the end until she realises it's something to suck on, otherwise she just spits it out too - tongue thrust reflex.

Birdies · 17/02/2013 16:53

Maybe they have permanent diarrhoea?! It's weird cos DD1's were less runny and more yellow. Xanthe's are watery and mustard colour.

Don't you just love talking about shit?!!

BuntyCollocks · 17/02/2013 17:35

Talking shit about shit - it's the shit ;)

Pascha · 17/02/2013 17:37

I'd rather have yellow runny milky poo than squelchy sticky toddler poo any day.

Birdies · 17/02/2013 17:46

Shitty shit shit shit

Birdies · 17/02/2013 17:46

I agree, and bf poo smells better as well

BuntyCollocks · 17/02/2013 17:56

Both my children, unfortunately, reek. Even the breastfed poo is rather rank smelling. :( right from when the meconium passed! Some babies are just honky: mine would be one. I was so looking forward to proper bf baby poo!

Apples - this holiday my older children are going away for five days to visit friends and will then be home for the rest of the time. They are currently away and I cannot believe how easy two children are in comparison to four! They are however much older and relatively independent; they'll sleep, catch up on school stuff, watch dvd's, play on the wii and they do help out a lot with the little children. I also insist (force) that they go out for at least half an hour a day. When they don't get dressed and slob around it all goes wrong!

Although I'm feeding twice a night DS just wakes feeds and goes back to sleep - I am so lucky. I'm actually getting more sleep than idid when I was pregnant. I did have awful insomnia but even so...

Hope everyone has a peaceful night...

CreepyCrawly · 17/02/2013 21:31

Thanks for the input on dummies! I have a feeling Nancy will be a thumb sucker. She settles really well if she has a hand by her mouth. She's yet to actually find her thumb yet though, she always has it in a 'got your nose' kind of way.

Apple I love your posts about your older children's reactions to Ivy, so cute

BuntyCollocks · 17/02/2013 22:20

Still feeding. Boobs are amazing. I can still squirt milk across the room after she's finished on one!

CreepyCrawly · 17/02/2013 22:40

Wow Bunty has it been all day?! Nancy was still feeding a lot this morning and early afternoon but, touch wood, seems to have settled down a bit this evening.

theboutiquemummy · 17/02/2013 23:34

Whoa Bunty that made me smile Grin superboobs

LO poop reminds me of mushy mustard peas n smells bad Confused

Bunny222 · 18/02/2013 03:14

Hi ladies, would welcome some advice.

DS whos nearly three weeks and is combined fed breast and bottle hasnt had a dirty nappy for over 12 hrs. Usually most are dirty, todays have been just wet.

Weve been using infacol for a few days as hes been getting a crampy tummy. Also changed formula to Aptimil fuller for longer 4 days ago, but heard this can cause constipation.

Anyone experienced this? Or tips for getting them to 'go'. He is feeding fine.

salt1 · 18/02/2013 03:27

Anyone bfing and have a lo that favours one breast and how have you coped with it. I am a bit worried one side will dry up

mrsbugsywugsy · 18/02/2013 04:54

how old is your ds bunny? at about 5 weeks dd stopped pooing as often and now only goes around once a day. I think this is normal, so long as he is still having lots of wet ones I wouldn't worry.

Bunny222 · 18/02/2013 06:55

bugsy he is 3 wks tomoro. He has been making awful straining noises and grizzling when he does it. Worrying he is in pain. Health visitor due today so I will ask her to check him

Lora1982 · 18/02/2013 07:24

Bunny try not to worry... Like i did... When i switched to combine feeding he only goes for a poo once every teo days, sometimes its one a day.

Salt careful with the one sidedness, apparently most babies do it but im nowhaving huge issues i will probably be referred to a surgeon to get my boob sorted today... Hopefully i do cos im in agony and i just want it back to normal, theres a massive lump and no massaging gets rid

mrsbugsywugsy · 18/02/2013 08:06

salt dd prefers my left side. I think the advice is to always offer the least favourite side first till things even out. if she won't take that side at all then you can express from that side only.

BuntyCollocks · 18/02/2013 09:00

All day creepy. I think she had maybe an hours nap, and 10 or 20 mins here and there where she was smiley and chatty - other than that it's been boob boob boob.

Think we're on course for the same today. She's out of sorts, v grizzly, had a huge feed at 3 - 5, up again at 7, another massive feed, and I've been trying to get her to nap for half an hour but she keeps howling in her sleep, so she's in the sling so I can pat/rock whilst spending time with DH.

I don't think today will be productive!

DD prefers my right boob, as did DS. Must be the flow on that side suits them better. I think there will always be one boob which gets more use and makes more, but as long as its not drastic I wouldn't worry.

Hormonalhell · 18/02/2013 09:05

Hi all not posted for a while but been catching up where I can....Charlie has totally changed from a laid back chilled out baby to this clingy, grumbly unhappy little thing and I don't know why Hmm I give him lots of attention but the pattern seems to be feed, wind, sleep n crying in between them all. He wants to be held all day (preferably by me) and last night he screamed for 2 hours solid n nothing would help. He wasnt hot or anything so know he wasn't ill but just so scary when u on your own Hmm

lollipoppi · 18/02/2013 09:18

Hi all, advise needed please!!
DD has caught a cold from DS, she is so stuffed up she can't feed as she can't breathe though her nose and suck at the same time!
Anything I can buy from the chemist or is it a doctors trip?? Would feel silly taking her to the doctors for bogies!! X
