As a few of us have popped early I thought I'd start us a post-natal thread.

OP posts:

Lolli - there is a GF book with toddler! I think it is the contented little baby with toddler.

I recommend the kidopotamus swaddle me thingy. We had a succesful night with dd spending her entire night in her cot, not our bed.
Went down grizzling at 7.30 with ewan, woke up at 11.30, settled at 12.30 in bednest with dummy and sucking noise, woke again for feed at 3.40ish and 7. 20. She is 6.5 weeks old.

Issue is, i think we wen through the growth spurt and i nopw have too much milk which leaks everywhere. I hate disposable pads, and shells are no good overnight...

tinkle i have a babasling too. I love it but it is not great for upright at that age i think... Will check the position guide, it s a bit hard to use but great when u ve got the hack of it...

Welcome snowfedup!

Birdies · 15/02/2013 11:17

Kidopotamus is the best swaddle I've used too.

Hmm maybe I should get the baby with toddler book.....

Well last night was typical.

7pm changed together with DS1 bedtime routine, fed, into sleeping bag dozed on my bed with me
8pm downstairs to cook dinner, into sling otherwise he is awake and crying.
9pm Eat dinner attached to me
9.30pm remove sling, hand over to daddy, asleep on his chest
10.15pm bottle of ebm ready, I go to bed
Midnight DH comes up with sleeping boy, transfers to crib ok but fidgety, still asleep.

Woke at 1.45am, 3.15am, 6.15am with a shortish feed each time and a good half hour of shuffling around his crib. He's so noisy! Until he's in a deep sleep he grunts and snuffles and the dummy gets sucked loudly and little cries but not awake ones... Its me thats the one awake mostly!

I don't follow any one type of routine rigidly, I suppose I loosely work on the EASY principle but whereas DS1 fell into that naturally without fuss and happily, Daniel just doesn't. He is velcro and needy and escalates to upset screaming within seconds. There isn't any leeway to put him down and get on with stuff so I have just sort of adapted life to mean having a baby permanently in my arms or sling during the day. No putting baby down at 10am for 45 minute nap in crib, or whatever. It just doesn't happen.

My Connecta sling is my lifeline right now.

Monster's day Lolli? Wink

Welcome Snowfedup get stuck in, we chat fast Smile

(I just tried to write sleep instead of smile in the brackets for the emoticon. What does that say about my deepest desires right now?)

Snowfedup · 15/02/2013 12:14

Thanks

My main prob at minute is trying to keep ds awake after feed and then get him to go to sleep without a feed during the day (a la EASY routine) I feel like I am constantly fighting against what my lo wants.

Eg woke at 7.15 took 5 oz was awake until school run around 9.

Woke up 15 mins later I then spent half hour with dummy and rocking to try to get back to sleep - gave up put in car and drove round for half hour so slept until feed at 10.30

Then had to strip him and lie on mat to stop him falling asleep - success awake and smiling until just now at 12 has finally gone to sleep with dummy and lots of rocking /pacing.

mrsbugsywugsy · 15/02/2013 15:15

well dd just weed and pood while I was changing her, while her nappy was off so she ended up lying in a puddle of wee and poo. It went all over her baby grow and some up the wall too - her poos are pretty explosive.

thought that would give you all a laugh

she is in a bad mood today, crying more than usual, eating non stop, and doing lots of green poos. I think she has a cold Sad

MamaMary · 15/02/2013 16:21

Leah is doing a bit better at night. 3.5 hours between feeds instead of 3 hours! Well we have to celebrate the small victories!

Tbh I really do need to start thinking more positive as I have been dwelling on the negatives too much, probably because of tiredness, and taking it out on DH which is unfair.

Speaking of positives, we finally made it (me and 2 DDs) to M&S today. DD2 slept the whole time and DD1 was well behaved. Thanks goodness for the double buggy, it's fantastic.

BuntyCollocks · 15/02/2013 16:47

Had a poonami after lunch that resulted in a shower for dd and I whilst DS watched Thomas the tank.

Tv is brilliant.

octanegirl · 15/02/2013 17:13

Poonami! Love it!

Meringue33 · 15/02/2013 17:43

Thanks Spring have downloaded it onto Kindle must read! Last night turned into cluster feeding session til 2am, before resuming regular feeds at 4am, 7am, 10am etc. Think we may be in for another session starting this afternoon, well it is week six. Luckily DP is off work to help as MIL is visiting, she must be sick of the sight of my nipples by now as I'm hanging them out to air dry mid cluster feeding...

happyhow · 15/02/2013 17:51

I took Bailey into school today where he was immaculately behaved and was awake for the most part so he wowed everyone with his big eyes and attentive-ness. The pupils were loving him which was cute.

What should you look for in a changing bag? I bought one in TKMaxx yesterday but not sure if it has what I 'need' or if it's good! Sounds like such a stupid question...

salt1 · 15/02/2013 18:10

happy in my experience ear plugs should be included

Lora1982 · 16/02/2013 01:56

Well how rude, i gave dexter a new bum after his dinz and went for a loo break myself, i come back to find sick in his hair (probably my crap winding) and a nappy full of poo so i start again and he thanks me by weeing all over my leg and finishing off by squeezing out some more poo on his mat :-\

BuntyCollocks · 16/02/2013 03:02

Up feeding. So want my bed. lora\ sounds familiar. Dd projectile shat on my leg as I was changing a poo nappy the other day.

Pascha · 16/02/2013 03:11

Up not feeding here. Got my head buried under the duvet with my phone listening to Daniel snuffle and shuffle around. Finished feed approx 45 mins ago and he's still not settled. If he produces a poo after all this I shall be unimpressed.

salt1 · 16/02/2013 03:37

I am up feeding too. Had first projectile vomiting experience this evening, was surprised a babies stomach held so much.

Berniebennett · 16/02/2013 03:59

I'm up due to DH (after being away for a week) either didn't put a nappy on right or left LO willy up which has meant when I picked him up after him being very grizzly in his Moses basket that he was soaked - I could feel it through his sleeping pod - bless him! But it's now meant he is wide awake after a complete change.

SpringFlowers · 16/02/2013 04:56

Morning, up feeding too. Have had wake ups at 1:45 am and 4:45 am. Thankfully no poos or sick. Does anyone have anything nice planned for the weekend?

MarasmeAbsolu · 16/02/2013 05:24

Loving the exploding poos stories - reminding me dd1 projectile shitting accross the room, eh eh.

Otherwise, as my mother likes to tell me, i, as a baby, used to sleep through by now (6 weeks) Hmm her granddaughter certainly is not replicating this... Mind you, i find the definition of "sleeping through" a bit cunning... To me 11 to 5 is not "through" i expect 7 to 7 at least Grin

BuntyCollocks · 16/02/2013 06:24

Dd has decided her previous 11-4 stretch was not fun, and instead we need to be awake twice. Unhappy. I was enjoying being smug the sleep that came from a 5 hour stretch followed by another 4.

I have to put away all the clothes she got as gifts tomorrow as we have a last minute guest requiring their current residence of the spade bed. Also going to make DH put away the spare duvet which has been driving me mad since Christmas, hang some pictures, return some stuff, and order some canvases of the dc online. Exciting stuff ;)

2blessed · 16/02/2013 07:49

Ds slept 11-7.30! I think he's gonna be on the boob for a while now!

Loving the poonami stories. Not poo wise but ds often does adult sounding farts that we're sure he will follow through with but nothing there..

2blessed · 16/02/2013 07:53

Busy day for you bunty. I keep meaning to sort through ds' gifts but just keep avoiding the sea of gift bags in his room. Have made a start washing and putting away his 3-6 clothes though as he is growing so fast (6 weeks).

BuntyCollocks · 16/02/2013 08:52

It's all very bitty, 2blessed but it'll keep me out of trouble. Dd is still in up to a month and no signs of growing out of it yet (7 weeks today!)

Pascha · 16/02/2013 09:18

Aarrgghh! 2.15am, 3.15am, 4.30am, 5.10am, 6.30am. I AM KNACKERED!

Daniel is 6 weeks today and just beginning to stretch the legs of the
