DS is 6 weeks old today. We're just coming out the other side of the 6 week growth spurt. The constant feeding is starting to subside but he's still doing ultra-clingy.

I also have a medela swing, and I'm making a bastard Frankenstein pump - spectra 3 unit, medela flanges and bottles. It's working well.

Having a horrid day. After the trauma of the revision we've had a couple of good days, she's learning to use her 'new' tongue and lip well, and relearning how to latch well and efficiently.

Today, she's been having crappy little nibbly feeds, hasn't really napped, and I've resorted to a sling just now to send her off as she's so overtired. She's obviously getting enough milk as we've had 3 huge poos and 4 or 5 good wet nappies so far since 6am, but the nibbly feeds make my boobs feel constantly empty, and the nibbling makes me nervous!

Argh. Just want the cuts to heal well, not reattach, and to nurse with no issues now. Fed up of worrying. :(

Medela Swing here too, on its second child now and the only thing I replaced is the tubing and valve which had become brittle.

Poo is one a day, sometimes up to three a day with a rare missed day here and there.

Swimming again this morning, off to cook dinner now.

Does anyone else's breastfed baby go a couple of days without pooing? X used to go twice a day but nothing for two days. Shes 9 weeks old. Wondering if it could be due to her jabs? She had them last Monday but otherwise is fine (though has a bit of a rash round her face too).

I've got the Medela Swing which is good I think.

I've got a medulla swing too. It's the only one I've ever managed to be able to use. I guess we have just settled into a routine by accident. I'm feeding on demand every 2-3 hours all day. We go out in the mornings until lunchtime and play in the afternoons and early evening. We have a bath at 6.30 and then he comes to bed with us at 10 ish. I probably feed twice in the night but as we co-sleep I hardly wake up. DS likes his sleep so sleeps on and off during the day. He will sleep in the carrycot and car seat but spends a lot of time in the sling which is lovely.

Tinkle - I'm thinking of you and hope your dd is ok.

I also use tommee tippee - it's quite reasonable. I would also definitely recommend electric over manual - much easier, especially if you are planning on expressing for a while :-)

Ive got two pumps. Medela mini which is so loud its embaressing, i have to sit with towels and quilts wrapped around it. I prefer my tomee tippee one although i wish the bottle was bigger sometimes, it will let you attach a normal tomee bottle thouggh so i do. Easy to use and clean and no need to sound proof.

I also have the Medela swing and would definitely recommend it fit being quick and easy to use. Not that I have expressed very often yet.
Better night's sleep here - after 2, fed at 4 and just woke up now - will aim to stretch feeds further but that's still much better than waking at 3,4,5,6, 7 Thanks ladies

lost there is a calculator on the kellymom site for how much milk is needed for one feed (sorry can't link from phone). it depends how many times you feed a day. however I think they take more at some feeds and less at others. when I left dd she took 5oz, an ounce more than the calculator said .

bunny I have the avent isis which is fine for me. I tried a tommee tippee one but couldn't get it to work for me. :-)

I've got the medela swing electric pump and it's great. I find expressing pretty quick with decent volumes but it is an investment at £130. I've heard the avent manual one is pretty good - will just take longer to express and is around £35.

Had first night out last night nothing elaborate just meal with DD1's school mums, but was lovely to be out and able to eat and talk without the children.

DH did well coping with the two for first time but tbh all he had to do was put them to bed and heat the bottle for 11pm feed. Gosh he really doesn't realise the stress of getting ready to go out, just thinks its like when he swans off with just himself to think about!! (can only imagine if I did) its nearly enough to put you off.

Anyway in baby front still not much progress with the long sleep

Another ? About ebm how much are yours drinking. DD drank 3oz at dream feed last night, thought it would be more at 7 weeks

Thanks berniebennet, my LO is 7 weeks too and is generally a great baby. I find it difficult to keep him awake for play during the day as much as GF suggests but at night he tends to go down about 7pm ish and sleeps till midnight/1am, feeds (where he tends to take about 5oz) and that sees him through to 4am and then we feed again and that tends to see him through to anything from 6 to 8, not really getting consistency. Maybe we should be waking him at 10pm but sometimes feel bad when he is fast asleep? Thanks for sharing your routine!

Hi, I'm new to MomsNet and it seems great - Have a little boy that was born on 21 Jan - so from the sounds of it, he's the same age as most of the others on here - it's great to hear all about everyone that's going through the same issues as me!! Have recently moved to Northern Ireland (from England), have another little one (will be 3 in May), and have been feeling very isolated - so its great being on here and just wanted to say HI :-)
