Over here!

Wantsnomore · 17/09/2012 10:28

Hi all. Everyone sounds like you had busy weekends! We were at home most of the weekend but I still managed to spend nearly £100 damn you Internet shopping
I am currently trapped in my house as the builders are digging a soak away and have parked their lorry and trailer outside the back door! I could go out the front but it would have to be without the pram as that is in the garage( behind the lorry!)

ReturnOfTheMunx · 17/09/2012 10:58

DS has been napping happily for two hours.

Why why why why can't he do this at night?!

NinjaChipmunk · 17/09/2012 11:02

can you nap too or are you looking after dd? I hope he gets the night/ day thing soon x

ReturnOfTheMunx · 17/09/2012 11:17

DD is at nursery and I stupidly have cleaned the house top to bottom.....

Classic up all night but as soon as morning comes feeling perky hormonal rubbish!!!!!

scarletfingernail · 17/09/2012 11:58

Why oh why did I not get that perky hormonal rubbish? My house (and my DH) would love me to be affected that way. Irritatingly I'm just knackered all the time even though DD sleeps through!

Great that your AF has been ok Ninja. Mine is finally on the way out. I'm brooking that my horrendous one was just a one off and that next time it'll be no problem Hmm

Glad that your KIT day went well musical Grin at the Massive Boobs.

DD now weighs 12lb at 20 weeks. Everyone who asks how old she is comments on how tiny she is. I do worry a bit about that but I guess there's not much I can do. It's not like she's not fed.

NinjaChipmunk · 17/09/2012 12:20

glad to hear af is on her way out scarlet but I would ask gp if it does that again, thats sounded horrendous. I wouldn't worry too much about the weight if she's looking alert and happy etc, she may just be a petite baby. she looks lovely and happy on your pics.
munx sit down and put your feet up. Seriously, thats what dp's are for at this stage! Make a brew, have some biccies and next time he naps, you do the same.

PetWoman · 17/09/2012 13:01

Hello all!

Scream I hope your holiday is wonderful! Looking forward to hearing all about it...

Hello Munx and congratulations! How much sleep (if any) are you getting at night? Defo nap during the day if you can.

I live about an hour away from Ikea and the seaside (in opposite directions though). When i worked in London I used to drive past the Croydon one every day. I love Ikea's 'Billy' bookshelves. And the gravadlax. Also bought a gingerbread house kit there once and loved decorating it last Christmas. Think it might become a family tradition when DS is old enough to help.

Biscuits hope E's fourth tooth emerges pdq and his cold buggers off so you can have a good night's sleep.

Too yay for M re-learning her excellent night-sleeping ways at last! Did she have some food while you were out, or was she too busy to be hungry?

Ninja well done with the sling-making! DH and I agreed that the sling was our most useful baby item (we're using a handed down Baby Bjorn) so I'll gladly give you feedback on your pics.

Scarlet since you know DD is getting plenty of milk, I wouldn't worry about her weight easier said than done and little babies are so cute! She'll get big soon enough. I've decided that I quite like DS being small as he's easier to carry and not growing out of his clothes too fast!

RubberBullets · 17/09/2012 13:33

Just found out that my Uncle died last night so probably won't be around very much. He is the second Uncle that has died, both were 54 :(

scarletfingernail · 17/09/2012 14:06

So sorry to hear that Rubber. 54 is such a young age, how very sad.

Scream I hope you all got off ok this morning. I'm brooking no argument that this holiday will do you and DH the world of good, I really hope you manage to work things out while you've not got the day to day grind interferring.

Ninja I love it when DD does that thing with her mouth when asleep. Sooo cute. You must be so excited about the move. It seems to be happening quite quickly for you.

Pet how is your DS getting on with his feeding now?

I live about as far away from the seaside as you possibly can in England Sad

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 17/09/2012 14:20

Rubber, so sorry to hear that.

Scarlet, I have just been fussing about the opposite problem. M has such chunky thighs that her size 6-9 month jeans dug in painfully today and left red bruised marks after a short walk in the sling! Am terrible mother...I now know why she was so grumpy all morning, poor little beast. She's currently wearing a vest and tights and is much happier. She weighs between 18 and 19 lbs at 6 months and 1 week.

Musical, glad the KIT day went well. My boobs were pretty darn massive when I got back yesterday - one leaked in the festival, but my sister said you couldn't see it (cream dress with lace overlay, so the lace hid the wet patch).

Pet, DH fed M 3oz bm, some apple puree and bits of pitta bread while I was gone. Not sure I can manage not to bf M between now and bedtime, though.

jaggythistle · 17/09/2012 15:19

sorry to hear that rubber :(

going to try and go to weigh in with DS2 this week. he's 5 months tomorrow and well into 6-9 month stuff, so interested to see what he weighs!

Biscuitsandtea · 17/09/2012 15:27

Rubber so sorry to hear that. Thinking of you xx

Scarlet glad AF is buggering off - mean old cow that she is. DD Looks lovely and healthy and happy and that I'd the best judge I think. Although like you say it's easier said than done to not worry about them.

Too glad that M slept well last night. Can she have a word with DS2? I literally must face had 20 mins of sleep between going to bed and about 4am. But the. He did sleep until 7:30 which felt like a treat Hmm. I can't believe the pace of these teeth, poor little thing. And the teething / weaning combo is causing havoc with his little bum Sad

Pet lovely to hear from you.

Well we are on holiday. Don't have wifi or much phone reception so may be a bit AWOL but will post if I can. Blimey I'm sat in Starbucks feeding DS2 and Climie Fisher, Love Changes Everything has just come on. Now you don't hear that much! DH and DS1 are still swimming (ds2 and I had to get out because he got hungry / tired (apparently staying up all night can make one tired - who knew Hmm)). But before I got out I took ds1 down a water slide. I thought, being a terrible scaredy cat, he might not like it, especially plopping out at the bottom, but he LOVED it Grin and wanted to go again! Awesome! Grin he seems to have really come on with his swimming which is fab .

It is SO nice to be away on hols - I feel more relaxed already and we've not been here 4 hours! I do hope that Scream is doing ok with the mega journey and has an equally relaxing holiday.

Looking forward to seeing pics of the Mei Tei Ninja. How much would you be selling them for?

PetWoman · 17/09/2012 15:28

Rubber that's awful news. Thanks for you and your family. So sad.

Scarlet DS is having 7oz formula every evening. I'm expressing once he's gone to bed and getting a seriously unimpressive 2oz or so, so every few days he has that instead. If I go out and he needs a feed, I've let DH give him 7oz formula a couple of times as the one time I left 4oz ebm he sobbed for more. We're also giving him a bit of fruit purée in the afternoon, but I doubt that's made much difference to his weight. He'd just hit 14lbs at 23 weeks, so still not doubled his birth weight, but is gradually heading back up the centiles.

PetWoman · 17/09/2012 15:41

Hello Biscuits ! Your holiday sounds fun and much-needed. Well done to DS1 with his swimming and water-sliding.

Can I ask a stupid question? In what way does teething affect E's bum? I can understand that weaning would, obviously.

Scarlet I meant to add that DS still has fussy feeds in the afternoon / evening but I swap sides and distract him if he won't carry on but is still upset. I'm not as worried about it now I know that he's gaining weight ok.

scarletfingernail · 17/09/2012 15:48

That's fantastic about the waterslide Biscuits. I can just picture his little face bless him. It's so weird that 2 weeks today I will probably be sitting in the same Starbucks having been on the same waterslide! I can't wait!

Sounds like DS is doing well Pet.

Jaggy/Too my DS was a little chubster. But he soon slimmed out once he was on the move. I need to try and build DD up before she starts or there'll be nothing of her.

scarletfingernail · 17/09/2012 15:50

Pet teething causes them to swallow gallons of saliver resulting often in yukky slimy poos and nappy rash.

scarletfingernail · 17/09/2012 15:52

Saliva? Saliver? You know what I meant.

Biscuitsandtea · 17/09/2012 16:02

That is funny isn't it Scarlet - I have another friend too who will also prob be sat in the same Starbucks having been on the same waterside just one week today!

We're trying DS1 with Chinese take away this evening Confused. That's if he and DH ever emerge from the swimming pool. I'm now sat in a practically empty starbucks.....

And yes Pet I think it must be the saliva thing gives them a sore bum but there is definitely a correlation between teething and getting a sore bum. It's one of those things I think that doesn't have a great wealth of supporting medical evidence. Like with ds1 after the third ear infection that arrived with a tooth I mentioned to the gp (just in passing while collecting the antibiotics) that I had noticed this correlation and was told in no uncertain terms that there was absolutely no medical link between the two. So it's just a coincidence that he gets an ear infection with each tooth and never at any time? And similarly for plenty of other friends? Of course it isn't true for everyone but there must be some causal relationship there?

Biscuitsandtea · 17/09/2012 16:03

I really hope ds1 sticks with liking watersides - I LOVE stuff like that Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 17/09/2012 16:10

Blimey, he's been on the fast slide too (the indoor one not the rapids) Scarlet - DH couldn't get him off it Shock 5 times!

musicalmrs · 17/09/2012 16:31

Rubber, so sorry to hear that. Hope you and your family are doing as ok as you can in the circumstances.

Too, glad your leaking wasn't obvious. I took HUGE breast pads with me, which seemed to sop up any leakage thankfully.

Apparently with teething, the saliva also makes urine more acidic, which doesn't help with the nappy rash :( As her teething has got worse, so has the rash (much much worse for the past couple of weeks, when she's been very miserable).

Hope you're having a lovely holiday Biscuits! Waterslides are soooo fun!

Think I forgot to mention that Iz went swimming for the first time on Sunday. She didn't love it, but didn't hate it - spent most of it looking bewildered! Hopefully she'll be less confused next time.

I've had a reaaalllly unproductive day today. I just want to curl up and sleep... all I've done is eat Blush. And go for a walk, but the amount of calories burnt on the walk were miniscule in comparison to the amount I've inhaled..

pommedechocolat · 17/09/2012 16:44

Two teeth for baby, serious separation anxiety and a totally overexcited and overwhelmed toddler means that dh and I are in bed by 9 every night thus holiday! Great to get away though.

Struggling with giving up day time bf though as a just waits for bed time feed. She has 2 oz water and 1 oz formula from 9 am to 6pm and its hot here. Guess her food has a high water content though? How's it going for you biscuits?

Wantsnomore · 17/09/2012 16:52

Thanks rubber

Well, two days in a row now D has napped in his crib for at least an hour!
This is the boy who usually has 20 min power naps during the day! There were so many things I should have been doing but I put my feet upvand read my book instead! :)

Wantsnomore · 17/09/2012 16:54

musical did you put Iz in a reusable swim nappy? If so which type did you go for? I would like to take D swimming soon too.

NinjaChipmunk · 17/09/2012 18:35

Rubber i'm so sorry that. That's so yto hear oung.
