I used a cold water steriliser with DD biscuits and just changed the fluid every day, but if you have a microwave one I would just use that before using the beakers/bottles?

I think if you assemble the bottles they stay sterile for a while..... But can't remember exactly as I haven't sterilised anything for 8 months now!

Things going wellhere, thanks for asking! We went out for a little walk today which has exhausted me (ibuprofen needed!) and DS. DD currently throwing her dinner around the kitchen with DH. Ah well!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 15/09/2012 18:59

Welcome Munx! Lovely to see you. Hope the ibuprofen did the trick and you feel better now.

Why is this baby not sleepy? It's nearly 7 o'clock, DH is out at a stag party and M, rather than displaying her usual post-dinner exhaustion, is happily bouncing away in her Jumperoo with a particularly wide-awake face.

Glad to hear that teeth didn't interfere with bf, Jaggy - I plan on feeding M as long as I can, work and nursery permitting.

Scream, hurray for having A back where she belongs!

I must express tonight and can't really be arsed. I'm going to a make-up festival tomorrow afternoon without M, so I must get on with it. It's such a faff and I always end up with milk down my front.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/09/2012 19:20

The wide awake face now Too is because she's going to sleep all night

jaggythistle · 15/09/2012 21:40

have you tried tucking a muslin under your boob while pumping too? i always took one in my bag to work in case of dripping and for a wee dry off! Blush

we've been out to our friend's house (almost out your way too actually) with both boys, they were complimented on being well behaved. Some bribery was involved with 2 comics! DS2 just smiled at everyone, fed and had a sleep in the sling.

we stopped at Ikea on the way and saved a fortune because i stayed in the car with 2 sound asleep boys. i was gutted to not be able to go and buy random stuff!

hope you are all having a good weekend.

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2012 05:19

Well done mini-jags Smile Although Sad at missing the random Ikea purchases and meatballs.

DS2 has a cold and I've been up with him about every 1-2 hours over night Sad. Poor little snotty thing. DH got up once with him which was good of him (mainly that was good because he's got up at 5 to finish his work this morning before we go on holiday tomorrow).

But we're a pretty tired house now. Apart from ds1 who'll probably be full of beans all day

jaggythistle · 16/09/2012 08:35

both boys full of beans since 7am today, despite DS1 getting to bed at about 10.30 in the end. DS2 slept till 4am before first waking, must take them out socialising more often. It's the longest sleep he's had in weeks. up every hour after that mind you...

hope DS2 feels better soon biscuits.

oh and since i read a thread about it on here somewhere I've not sterilised anything, just washed in hot soapy water and air dried. will try to find it if you're interested. i think it was partly because ebm is naturally antibacterial, but can't remember what it said about formula....

RubberBullets · 16/09/2012 09:57

SFF happened last night

jaggythistle · 16/09/2012 10:05

oo impressive. we've still only achieved 1.5 SFF after almost 5 months. Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2012 10:20

Like the .5 Jaggy Grin

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 16/09/2012 10:20

V impressed, Rubber! SFF last happened...umm...I forget. Blush Still haven't sorted out my contraception, either.

Jaggy, yay for the mini-Jags! It's a shame you missed out on the pointless Ikea purchases, though - it's not a trip to Ikea without spending a minimum of £50 on random stuff like a bootjack, pink tea lights, picture frames that turn out not to fit the pictures you bought them for, a couple of new mugs and a fleecy blanket. Oooh, I want to go to Ikea now! We need to get a highchair and a new bin for plastic/paper waste and a new frying pan and a new computer chair. and lots of random tat

Biscuits, sadly M was not gearing up for a full night's sleep - we were up every 1 or 2 hours also. However, she actually slept until 9.15 this morning! I put her down at 7ish thinking I might get another half hour or so and lo and behold, I got an actual lie-in! Thanks M. in the olden days pre-baby a lie-in to me was at least 11am, sometimes noon. Now 9 seems like a treat

No pumping happened yesterday - must do it now. Good idea with the muslin-boob tip, Jaggy, I'll give that a go.

RubberBullets · 16/09/2012 11:11

Well the last time anything like that happened was August last year so it had been a while...

Very Envy of you people near an Ikea. That is something we can only do on holiday as we are hours away from our nearest

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2012 11:14

Rubber we used to be able to nip to ours for lunch from our old house Grin 10 minutes it was.

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2012 11:15

However, the seaside, now that is another matter - we are hours from anything like that!

RubberBullets · 16/09/2012 11:24

The seaside is boring, nothing to do and the sand just gets everywhere. I didn't even like the beach as a child despite our nearest being a 10 min walk away

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2012 11:41

Ikea is boring - just yummy meatballs and plastic stuff you never knew you needed WinkGrin

When we lived in London and bought our first flat (in the Docklands so nowhere near Wembley) we furnished it from Ikea but without a car. We used to get the tube to Wembley Ikea after work and then have our meatballs (for strength) and then walk about a mile back to the tube stop with our purchases (unless we were buying BIG furniture and get the tube home again. It's a wonder we didn't cause an incident on the north circular walking along piled up with shelving units, mirrors and once even a ready built office chair from the bargain corner!

jaggythistle · 16/09/2012 12:33

i had a voucher for £10 off if you spend £60 as well. what a waste of tat buying opportunity.

i nearly got time to express there, but then i had to take DS1 for a wee. then back for a poo...no accidents yet today, although daddy let him stand on his high step for a wee so that resulted in clean trousers. i put him in pull ups to go to our friends and they actually stayed almost dry! i think he had little wee in them when he got really sleepy. i was too scared of accidents on their furniture!

now DS2 feeding to sleep, hopefully for a wee nap. I'm always a bit disappointed when he feeds for ages then suddenly wakes up and grins!

hmm, we're an hour and a bit from Ikea so normally go for meatballs too. we're maybe half an hour to the beach.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 16/09/2012 12:56

It's been crazy here! Yesterday was a mad back-destroying frenzy of packing stuff and shifting furniture. DH was really helpful and I started to feel a little sad about moving back to my Mum's.

Then he sat watching the tv while I was getting DD ready for bed, showing no interest in helping even though he knew he'd be away from her all night. He eventually went home, and has arrived back here 1.5 hours late for the time he should have got here to enable us to get to his family BBQ on time. He's now stamping around like a 3 year old annoyed with me for having to pump before we go, as if it's the pumping and not his late arrival causing the problem. Sigh. I'm soooooooooo glad we've moved out! I just hate living with all of his negative energy! I sound really hippy-ish when I say that, but it's just so depressing to live with someone who's never happy, just permanently stressed and depressed!

Argh, so nervous about the flight tom! DD was in full hourly-wake-up mode last night, and I had visions of doing the same battle on the plane for 10.5 hours!! On the other hand she's so alert and aware now. She's sitting up really well by herself, and can actually use her highchair well enough that I think we can try her in restaurant highchairs on the trip. So I'm really excited about sharing this holiday with her!

Apologies for the me me me. It's been a significant weekend for us so far. Can I say though - I also love buying random plastic tat in Ikea! We're about 30 minutes drive from a couple, and they're so good! So long as you go at random times like late night Friday.

jaggythistle · 16/09/2012 13:24

DH says it was full of students yesterday - freshers week.

scarletfingernail · 16/09/2012 14:14

Brooking for you Scream. I hope you escape the BBQ at a reasonable time and you and A manage to catch some sleep tonight before the mega flight tomorrow. I'm still so Envy about where you're going. Has your DH had depression diagnosed or do you suspect that he is?

Great work Jaggy's DS1 with the toilet. I was nervous for ages about visiting people with DS wearing pants but luckily we've never had any accidents as DS loves visiting other people's toilets Hmm

Grin at the Ikea chat. I can't come away without £20 worth of stuff from the marketplace that never sees the light of day once home. The kids hooded towels are fab for swimming though.

DH and DS have just gone off out swimming for an hour or so. I've just put DD to bed and I now have a huge pile of ironing to tackle. I have a couple of Who Do You Think You Are's to watch so hopefully I'll just steam through it. I'm a bit of a family history buff.

jaggythistle · 16/09/2012 18:07

i watched the Patrick Stewart one on iplayer last time i was ironing scarlet. Grin

DS1 is also quite nosey about new toilets, he's just not very good at asking yet and if we forget to remind him for a long time it can all go a bit wrong. sometimes just a little gets out before he shouts, but a couple of times the flood gates have opened!

i think it makes me more nervous visiting people with no kids like last night. I'm going to see my friend this week, hopefully she can hold the baby if mad toilet dashes are required! she'll have the joy of potty training with her DD this year. :)

have run away to the living room to feed DS2, daddy and big brother were being too noisy and the poor baby kept bursting into tears when he got a fright. he looked a bit tired and is indeed feeding and dozing just now.

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2012 19:54

Oooh nice hooded towels

Biscuitsandtea · 17/09/2012 02:09

Poor baby. Teething (this is tooth number FOUR already) AND a cold Sad

Needless to say, not a good night here....

Good luck for the mega flight and the holiday TeamScream Smile. Look forward to you making us all Envy with the lovely details Smile.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 17/09/2012 08:32

WE HAVE A MIRACLE. M slept from 7.30pm to 10pm, then til 4 am! Shock And then she didn't get up until quarter to 8! Shock Shock Naturally, I woke up at 2.30 wondering why she wasn't up yet and wound up sleeping in a giant wet spot, but hey, these are minor issues. Please, please baby, do it again tonight. Pretty please? I think this miracle was brought about by my going out yesterday afternoon, which means I didn't feed M between 1pm and 7.30pm, when I put her to bed. So she got 1 v full boob at 7.30, and when she woke up at 10 my other boob was so full it was about 3 times the size of the right one. [sexy] So she gulped all that down and slept for 6 hours. 6 hours! I wonder if I can replicate this today?

Good luck Scream, have a marvellous holiday!

Rubber, I would much rather be 15 mins from the seaside than Ikea! I'm maybe 40 mins from the sea...but the beaches near Edinburgh just aren't as nice as the Aberdeenshire ones.

Munx, welcome and congratulations! Hope you're having a wonderful time with your new arrival, and newborn snuggles? I miss newborn snuggles (though 4 month snuggles are quite good too!).

Too, hurrah for M's fabulous sleeping last night!

Re Ikea and seaside, I can safely say I'm quite well situated between both Grin. About 20/30 minutes to either?

Scream, hope your holiday goes well! Good luck with the flights.

My KIT day on Friday went well, with the exception of Massive Boobs! I've never seen them so big. I couldn't properly pump in the break at 11ish - tried but didn't wrk - so just expressed a bit into tissues from each to relieve the fullness somewhat. By lunchtime (1) they were HUGE and painful! Expressed about 6oz then, then decided to leave it until I got home... of course there were then lovely delays on public transport, so I didn't get home until half 5, at which point they were unbearable again :( On the plus side, Iz drank about 13oz at home with DH, and napped reasonably well (all short naps, but still went down ok) - hurrah!

We then had a mega family party on Sat, and a quieter day at my parents' Sunday. Lovely weekend.. but I now have a exhausted baby, seen as she was grizzling for a morning nap much earlier than usual. Need to put her down, but as I had to share cuddles all weekend I'm quite enjoying getting one to myself now!

NinjaChipmunk · 17/09/2012 09:33

Have a lovely holiday scream!!
munx lovely to see you here and many congratulations Grin I do hope everything is settling down ok? How is your dd taking to it all?
Mmmmm meatballs from Ikea , I love the gravy too, tis special. I stock up on it when I'm there. We're lucky we are about 35 mins from Ikea and about just over an hour to the beach ( or an hour and a half to mum and dads who live one road away from the sea Smile). I may pick up some hooded towels when I'm next at Ikea, very useful.
musical glad your KIT day went ok, sounds like a busy weekend too.
too Good luck with M's sleeping! I'm sure she'll replicate it for you on a regular basis now.
Was it pomme or scarlet who had the af from hell? Mine started late sat night and has been the same, pos even slightly lighter than before so far. Thank god, I was a bit concerned before it arrived.
In other news I have finished my mei tai and road tested it on the school run this morning. I will try to take a pic before I pick ds up this afternoon so you can tell me what you think. I've been debating selling them and ring slings online as an extra income so any feedback good or bad on its looks etc would be welcomed! DD seemed to like it but got grumpy as soon as we got home as she was hungry. I went off to make up a bottle, came back in and she's conked out on her playmat. Every now and then in her sleep she does that sweet thing babies do where her tongue starts lapping, I guess she must be dreaming of milk? If she wakes up its here waiting for her!
The flat looks like a bombs hit it and we have our buyers coming round tonight to ask about some bits and bobs from the survey. Best give it a good going over later. Looks like we'll be moving in about a month.
