Over here!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Wants, I'm afraid I can't recommend one as I just used a disposable swim nappy - was in a relative's pool. Will be getting a reusable one for when we take her to a public pool though.

Ninja, it looks great! You're very talented :) I'd not heard of a Mei Tai before, but looking at yours and looking them up they look good. If I didn't have a Moby I loved I'd consider one.

Biscuitsandtea · 18/09/2012 06:38

Ninja the Mei Tei looks great! How clever are you!

Wants / Musical we've just bought a reusable swim nappy. For both DS's we have always used a reusable nappy cover (as required by the swimming lessons we go to) like this Splash About Happy Nappy or this Konfidence Nappicova.

Both have been good. The Splash About one says you can use it with or without a disposable or reusable underneath but I have never tried it without - I'm a fan of the belt and braces approach!

We have also just bought a ed Konfidence Aqua Nappy too though to go under the Nappicova. We went to use it yesterday but chickened out. It is one size fits 3m to 3yrs but I wasn't sure whether it looked tight enough round the legs on the tightest setting. The disposable swim nappies have a double leg cuff like normal disposable nappies do whereas this one doesn't. And I was a bit scared even with the other one over the top. I am going to email our swimming lesson lady though and ask if she's had any good or bad experience with them.

Someone at one of our lessons used to use a tots bots (I think it was) one underneath and seemed happy with it. But obviously I never checked the leg tightness on their child Grin

I think I have period pains Sad. Worried about whether it's going to be an awful awful one or ok Confused.

In other news though for the first time in forever DS2 slept through from about 8pm last night and is still asleep now!!! I heard him sucking his fist about 4:30 and thought he might wake up then as he has been having a feed about 4:30-5:00 ish for the last week but he went back off to sleep Shock. Then more fist sucking at 6ish so I thought I'd just check my emails until he woke up but he's obviously dropped back off again....

Biscuitsandtea · 18/09/2012 06:46

Oh and cutest thing about taking the boys swimming yesterday together was that, although ds2 looks considerably less bewildered by it all these days, the thing that really made him smile was when he was interacting with ds1 and they were playing together / doing the same sort of thing. So adorable Smile

Wantsnomore · 18/09/2012 08:58

Thanks for those links biscuits I will check them out later! We are off out to a toddler group today, first session after the summer holidays. I think there are going to be lots of relieved mummies there!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 18/09/2012 10:01

Attempt to feed M omelette as finger food went something like this. Chunks of omelette: M - 0.25, dog - 6. Hmm

Right, off to get ready for swimming.

Never admit to building control that you have done electrical work when selling a house. You will not get a straight answer as to what certificate you need and it is likely to cost you money, time and stress. That is all.

PetWoman · 18/09/2012 12:51

Ninja I hope you get sorted with the whole building control thing. My DH is a DIY fanatic (his dad was a brickie so theoretically he knows what he's doing) but doesn't finish anything - I hate to think what would happen if we tried to sell. Maybe he'd put skirting boards and coving up at last. Your sling looks great, btw - I like the fabric.

Biscuits reading about your DSs made me sad that DS hasn't got a brother to play with! Then I remembered the dog...

Too we tried to give DS a green bean the other day. He pulled a face and dropped it on the floor, where even the dog turned her nose up at it!

NinjaChipmunk · 18/09/2012 13:08

pet the trouble is if dp had agreed to pay an electrician in the first place we wouldn't be having these problems. As it is he has decided he's not mentioning any work in any other rooms! And it is down to me organise the certificates as I'm at home all day even though I've got to look after an 11 week old (and a nearly 5 year old once school is out at 3). Sorry, it's put me in a foul mood as dp is getting stroppy about the certificate not being issued and remedial work needing to be done before they can come back and issue it which will cost more money. Its not my bloody fault. And building control are wont to change their minds about what certificate you actually need at any given time. They are all bastards. All of them!

PetWoman · 18/09/2012 16:11

Um, help - I think.

Left boob a bit painful underneath. Feel a bit achy (back, legs, shoulders) and hot / shivery but might be making it up iykwim. Is it mastitis? Do I ring doctor or see how I feel tomorrow?

Been swimming this morning with DS and felt fine. Fed him regularly etc. Don't usually get ill (luckily) so not sure what to do...

Paracetamol?

PetWoman · 18/09/2012 16:17

Ninja hope your DH has come through the stroppy bit and is now being helpful, btw. He's probably cross with himself - I can imagine a similar situation in my household!

Biscuitsandtea · 18/09/2012 16:19

Pet do you have a temp? If it might be mastitis I'd be tempted to get to the docs today and get a second opinion. It's so horrid I'd want the ABs ASAP.

Brooking it's not mastitis though Thanks

PetWoman · 18/09/2012 16:27

Will go and check, Biscuits - thanks.

PetWoman · 18/09/2012 16:37

Temp is 36 and boob looks normal. Am probably stressing over nothing. Blush

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 18/09/2012 16:58

Is 36 normal? [clueless] Try paracetamol and see if you feel better. Brooking that it's nothing!

I hate the assumption that because you're at home all day you have ample time to do all manner of chores! Grrrrr! It doesn't work like that.

OP posts:
PetWoman · 18/09/2012 17:37

Maybe 37 is normal? Maybe I'm just cold. DH has lit stove.

scarletfingernail · 18/09/2012 18:49

Anything between 36 and 37.5 is normal Pet. I hope you're not coming down with anything, there's loads of viruses going round our way at the moment.

Ninja I'd be pissed off too. We've recently had building control visit us over our building work and they requested a couple of alterations which thankfully haven't been too difficult, but there were some choice words used to describe them by DH who had all our work checked by a builder and a surveyor at the time. Still, I suppose they have to justify their salary somehow...

Wants we also use a reusable swim nappy with a disposable underneath. Not worth the risk of leakage just using one. Very embarrassing if the pool has to be evacuated due to poo! Splash About are fab reusables and Huggies disposable swim nappies work well with them.

DreamingOfPeace · 18/09/2012 21:23

Sorry, things still a real uphill struggle here.... Struggling to keep up with the thread Shock

My news is still no sleeping here, b not either. Doctor today thought cmpi causing reflux so strictly dairy free (hate it!). Still neglected children, still no rolling/ sitting, 24 weeks tomorrow. Had more time just me vs the children, hence no mn time whatsoever...

biscuits, sorry about beaker confusion, obviously muddling you up with A. Oops. I am a bit tired... Brooking for teeth to come quickly and cold to go. Well done your ds1, super swimming achievements.

scarlet she's a gorgeous healthy looking baby, sure she's just dinky by nature. My friends DD is 10kg at 2- average weight of a 1 year old!! She's just perfect though, very healthy. Mine is 11.8kg on my bathroom scales . Glad af gone.

ninja nightmare bout the certificate crap. Hate hate hate that sort of thing. One month though, eeek!! What would be the best way for me to tandem carry my lumps boys? I have a boba 3G. Another SSC type or a mei tei? Needs to be idiot proof, I couldn't get into my moby...

pet, I felt like that with blocked ducts, had temp too though. I'd do different feeding positions and hot bath too, can't hurt. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Sorry, tooo tired, all quiet here as I'm still on hourly wakings I'd best go... Apologies to all I missed, I did read all your posts with interest

jaggythistle · 19/09/2012 07:37

morning. I'm a bit of a stressed jaggy this morning so sorry if it's a bit me me me!

it's just me and the boys here because DH is in the hospital! he got ill last night and was shivering by bedtime and asked me to call nhs 24 for advice. they sent him to ooh doc, who then sent him to the main hospital for tests. he's been kept overnight to wait for results.

I'm hoping it's just a precaution and he'll not be there long. he got there about 1 this morning so no idea how long he'll have to wait. he did think he felt a bit better when i spoke to him at about 2.

DS1 is awake so I'll have to go and pretend DH has just popped out to the doctor's. :(

was hoping to get a quick shower but DS2 awake and wriggling and i can't be bothered listening to screaming.

DS1 shouting, got to go.

scarletfingernail · 19/09/2012 08:13

Brooking for your DH Jaggy. Is it a virus? Hope he's ok.

scarletfingernail · 19/09/2012 08:16

Good to hear from you Dream. Sounds hectic as usual! I'm sure you're doing a marvellous job with all 3 DC while you're on your own. Thanks for your reassurance re DD and everyone else who said the same.

jaggythistle · 19/09/2012 08:26

no idea yet scarlet! have spoken to him and he says he feels better today, but has to wait for consultant to come round.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 19/09/2012 08:45

Oh no, Jaggy, poor MrJaggy! Hope he feels better soon, and Brooking that it turns out to be nothing serious.

Hi Dream - was wondering what had happened to you! Chin up, honey - you are doing a fabulous job with all three of your littlies.

Bit better on the sleep front - M didn't go to bed until 9 because I had friends round and she was too nosy to go to sleep Hmm, but when she did she only got up 3 times, at 12, 3.30 and 4.45. Then she slept until 7.50. Yay for three-hour intervals mostly!

Hope Scream's holiday is going swimmingly so far and that the flight was fine.

OP posts:
PetWoman · 19/09/2012 09:00

Morning!

Jaggy that sounds scary. Hope the consultant sees your DH quickly and it turns out to be something easily treatable. Glad he's feeling a bit better.

I seem to be feeling better, too. Woke up this morning without a temperature or any aches, apart from still-sore boob. I'd fed DS from it once in the night, and have combed it in the shower and expressed a bit. Still feels sore though. Problem is, the pain is underneath so not an easy area to massage while he's feeding. This whole bfing lark is full of pitfalls, isn't it?

Dream gutted to hear the BBBBs sleep has got worse! Shock sending you big hugs. Well done for managing all 3 by yourself - that's a massive achievement.

Too sounds like things are going in the right direction with M. :)

DreamingOfPeace · 19/09/2012 09:23

Oh no jaggy hope your Dh out soon, poor thing. Maybe it'll be one of those wierd things?

Feeling bad as I hit the wall at 3 or 4am and poor Dh been helping since then. We are both feeling increasingly knackered and burnt out. I've not had more than 90 min sleep in a row for weeks, combined with the relentlessness of the days is all becoming too much.

What can I do to get these boys sleeping?? Off to dig out hawthers sleep consultant sheets she kindly posted to me again...

I reckon blocked ducts pet, hopefully it'll keep improving.

jaggythistle · 19/09/2012 09:36

dream that sounds really hard. I'm feeling a bit pathetic after a few weeks of rubbish DS2 sleep. also being up till 1 last night and then DS2 waking at 1.30, typical! Grin
