I hope you don't mind me starting a new thread? Lets hope it's a lucky one for me.

debka · 07/08/2012 22:02

reastie that is flipping amazing, be proud of yourself. Half a stone in 2 weeks is brilliant going. WELL DONE. If you and A enjoy her morning bf then why worry? Just carry on as long as suits you. I gave up with Imy at 13mo because I'd had enough. Bean gave me up at 8mo Shock. When Imy dropped her morning feed I just didn't offer, got her dressed and went for breakfast instead. Don't think she even really noticed like her father

DEFO still on for Friday, can't wait- lets do Leeds Castle though, I want to get in for free Grin

wiggles S is like that, she'll climb on/over anything, Imogen was never that fussed. S is also a finger sucker which is fine except when I say it but inadvertently change the first letters round Blush

Weigh in tonight, gained 1/2lb but I wasn't that surprised, I did eat out twice and eat 400g of Dairy Milk over 2 days. Worked out however that I have lost the equivalent now of 204 packs of butter Shock Shock Shock

blizy · 08/08/2012 08:49

reastie Believe in yourself woman, you should be feeling proud!

Another day of doing nothing for me - bliss! well, I say nothing, I have to prepare for my inspection which will be soon- Yikes .

Hope you all have a good day. Smile

OP posts:
archareastie · 08/08/2012 09:04

Good gried deb can you imagine eating 204 packs of butter?! Shock That's incredible. I found my old weight log I used to keep back in 2009 [boring] and I've got 3.5 stone to go. Off to the gym this morning again - I will get there eventually Grin . I'm a bit worried about how I"ll manage to get to the gym when I'm back to work in a few weeks, it's been alot easier this hols to go alot and I'll miss it when I'm back at work Blush

blizy enjoy your day to yourself, hope the paperwork for inspection isn't too torturous

deb half a pound isn't anything unless you lost it then it's alot Grin , especially in the grand scheme of all that butter, plus, I bet you had a nice time eating out.

wiggles sofia for a boy?! Hmm never heard that one before! Btw thanks mucho for the pm - sounds like I'm glad I didn't bother with the other 2 and I'm a bit Shock that it really was more shallow than I expected!

americanexpat · 08/08/2012 10:30

reastie - I think as long as you're happy to keep bfing, it's fine. L stopped bfing at 11 months then we started having breakfast first thing. He can't be bothered with cuddling in bed tbh. Grin He's a bit like Anna and debka's S and "adventurous". Also, a half stone is fab, the other 3.5 st will come off in no time if you keep at it. Another also, I got the smaller size of the Boden dress and it's fab. Grin I still need to get the top taken in but I had a lot of compliments on it.

wiggles - no candy floss? Shock Please tell me toffee is OK. [surprised I have any teeth left]

blizy - enjoy your day off. :)

ILovePonyo · 08/08/2012 20:51

Evening all,

reastie I feel exactly the same about giving A her morning milk excpet its a bottle not bf! I think bf is ok/better than having a bottle with a teat? well done on the weight loss thats fantastic! It sounds like you're enjoying the gym atm so maybe it will be something to look forward to when you're back at work, you might not be able to go as much but you sound v motivated.

american think I may start giving A milk in a cup soon anyway, good idea just need to go out and get one now!

wigs I like your dentist! Grin at A and the goats the little adventurer.

deb Shock Shock Shock at the butter! Wow, amaze! Hope you and reast enjoy Fri sounds nice, think the weather is meant to be sunny too?

blizy when is your inspection?

A was at nursery today and had a lovely tiring day, then was a whinge monster at home Hmm She made biscuits and sucked all the icing off then gave them to me, thanks Anya Grin

Hope fully she'll sleep well tonight as she was up at 4am for another bottle, I think thats because she still wasn't eating much in the day but ate well at nursery today

americanexpat · 09/08/2012 09:35

Ponyo - does she drink from a cup during the day usually? Deffo try that first before you spring one on her at 4am! I hope she slept through last night.

L bit 4 times at nursery yesterday. Shock They said he was chewing his hand a lot too so Sophie la Giraffe went with him today. Grin

I'm liking my gutter-complaining neighbour less and less. I spoke with her last night and she complained about the neighbourhood kids making too much noise. Hmm She also warned me that they were playing hide and seek in our front garden and was a bit Confused when I told her I didn't mind. Maybe they should consider a detached country cottage instead of dense terraced housing if they want peace and quiet? Strangely she didn't complain about the inconsiderate neighbour who has late night parties on his deck and parks his van in the disabled space. Hmm [tired of neighbour drama emoticon]

blizy · 09/08/2012 11:16

American- I recommend a wiggles special- tell get to feck offGrin. Oops at L biting, i hope takes his frustrations out on Sophie!

OP posts:
archareastie · 09/08/2012 12:35

Hi All

american hope the nursery have been nice about it (is he still at the new nursery where has hasn't bitten before?). Re: moany neighbour, just as well you're moving Wink although tbh I would be annoyed if children I didn't know trampled in my front garden to play hide and seek Blush [killjoy] . The neighbours we are attached to are a bit odd and have planted a scots pine and oak tree right on the fence line in the back garden and they are so close to the house in a few years they will give us a subsidence problem and eventually crack and cause a big well in our garden to fall in (taking most of the garden in with it) Shock - it's just DH and I have been too scared to approach them about it. They are old so all I can think is they don't care about long term future of the houses. Oh and glad you like the rose dress btw - mine comes up big in the chest which is odd as usually I have the opposite issue Hmm

ponyo I've been thinking alot re: milk in the morning. I'm getting really itchy as I don't knwo what hours I'll be working from september and may not know until a day or so before I go back to work Shock and if I'm in early there will not logistically be time for me to bf alice before I go to work now her naps and sleep pattern have changed. I'm getting really frustrated as if I need to take out the bf I don't want to suddenly do it when I go back to work, it'll be alot of change for Alice to deal with me suddenly deserting her again and she won't get cuddly milk time in the morning. Not sure how I'll go about that yet.

Well, I did it, I did an exercise class this morning although they really should say when you book it that it's not a dance steps class it's an athletic step class as it was completely different (and much harder) than I was expecting. I wanted all twirly dancey routines and I got hard core lunges and press ups Shock . I couldn't do some of the stuff but I worked up a sweat and I got through the class, although I may not be able to walk tomorrow!

onmehols · 09/08/2012 21:16

Hello all hope you are well i am fat tired and brown which could be dirt. Had a fab time but camping hard work and not very glam. Girls were great apart from dilly running away all the time and burning even with p20 on. We ate swam drank cycled and slept it was lush. Was impossible to have a shag though then i got af the day we got back can you believe.
D is glad to be home she shouted hoorah when we pulled onto the drive Grin she snuggled into her cot last night and has played with every toy she has. She seems so happy to be back is enjoying her food and is generally delighted bless her. We are enjoying the olympics as the only stuff we saw was when the french were playing, i loved the rythmic gym today so beautiful.
Off to watch more now,can anyone summrise for me please.

wigglesrock · 09/08/2012 21:19

american Anna is a biter - we have worked really hard with her the past few weeks and tbh we've seen an improvement in the past week or so, neither of my other two were so it was quite strange to see Anna leading with her teeth so to speak Blush I'm with you re the neighbours, I've been berated many a time on MN regarding my whateverness with kids playing in the street!

reastie mucho respect with the exercise class - hope your legs are still working in the morning Grin

We are off on our holidays on Sunday, we're staying up near the Giants Causeway for a week. The girls are sooooo excited - me slightly less so. I know I'm a terribly shallow and ungrateful but to me a holiday starts and ends with a flight Blush Have stocked up on sticker books etc and have anoraks packed, well its NI Grin - drizzle is always on the horizon.

Still having Olympic excitement here - we know one of the boxers who has a gold medal fight tomorrow so fingers crossed Grin

Oh I picked up a Happyland set in Mothercare yesterday - its the sports day - track one (£20 down to £10), its absolutely brilliant - A is a bit too young to fully appreciate it but we've had so much fun running the figures around the track and awarding medals on the podium!

debka · 09/08/2012 21:36

ONMEHOLS!!!! Welcome back!! I've missed you!!! Glad all is well with you :)

wiggles I must say your holiday sounds lovely, hope you have a lovely time.

reastie blimey well done on class, hope you can walk for our MEET UP TOMORROW!!!

expat your neighbour is a nutcase, I agree with you re children, mine are close to feral anyway Grin as I'm sure reastie will tell you by PM tomorrow Grin Wink

Saw my sis and Chloe today, both doing v well. C has grown a lot but her head seems ever so floppy to me. She's very alert though and smiled at me too

Gained 1/2lb at sw this week Angry, I'm on another drive now for my 7.5st award next week. I also watched that Horizon documentary about fasting- did anyone else catch it? I'm seriously thinking about doing the 2 days fasting a week. I have a v high risk of breast cancer (every single maternal relative I have has had it!), and I think it would do a lot to reduce my risk. Anyone else watch it?

ILovePonyo · 09/08/2012 21:52

deb I missed that docu, sounds interesting. Aww to Chloe, glad she is well :)

onmehols yay you're back! Holiday sounds lovely and Grin at the lack of shags Wink I'm crappy at updates but reastie is good isn't she

american yeah A drinks water fine from a cup, no probs - I will try her on a cup next week I think. Hmm at your neighbour, good job you;re moving soon eh :)

reastie woo to the gym! No advice re: morning bf's, hope something works out by the time you go back to work.

wigs enjoy your holiday, lovely! How did you stop A biting, lots of firm 'no's I'm guessing? Just interested as we need to get a bit firmer with A, I've realised I often say 'no' then give her whatever she is whinging for anyway Shock

We have had a nice day, A is much better now and was in top form today, she also had lots to say and did lots of singing too haha.
dp is taking her to his parents this weekend - Saturday afternoon til mon or tues Shock I am feeling ok about it - got shopping planned on Sat, lunch and drinks on Sunday and nice lie ins too!

wigglesrock · 09/08/2012 22:27

onmehols Grin, welcome back Grin at D snuggling into her cot

ponyo A just bites when she feels like it, I mean its not done through temper or anything - if she was sitting on my dads knee, or standing beside him, she would just lean over and bite him Shock. So I would just lift her away from the person, say No, no biting and set her down away from everyone and walk away from her . Is worked but I'm not sure that it wasn't just a wee phase, I just wanted to get it dealt with quickly because we have Emma so much Grin

debka I didn't see the programme but there was a thread here about fasting yesterday I think. Might see if I can find out more, unfortunately my maternal side also has a huge breast cancer risk.

americanexpat · 10/08/2012 09:39

Ponyo - I do the same as wiggles when L bites: say "no biting" firmly, move him away then walk away. He usually cries for a bit then goes back to playing. He tends to bite in anger or when he's teething.

wiggles - I think it's worse when he's teething as he'll bite anything when his teeth hurt. He'll be fine for a couple weeks then we have a run of biting like this week. His key worker said he only bit once yesterday but she got to him with the giraffe twice when he was showing the signs. Grin Enjoy your hols.

reastie - It's fine that she doesn't want them in her front garden though it's 90% paved but I'm a bit Hmm that she was complaining about the noise. Our front garden is like a jungle though, prob great for playing hide and seek. Grin It warms my heart to see all the neighbourhood children playing together, instead of locked in separate back gardens. They are mostly harmless, not like they are tipping over bins or anything. The neighbour was also horrified when L dropped his giraffe on the ground then put it straight in his mouth, kept saying, "Oh, sweetheart, that's dirty!" [negligent parent]

onmehols - welcome back and Grin at D snuggling in to her cot.

blizy · 10/08/2012 11:40

onmehols, good to have you back! Awww at Dilly being so happy to be home.

american'wiggles I am dealing with a biter at the min too, but mines is my daft cat when he bites he gets put out in the naughty step hall with a firm NO. Grin

Well, it seems I am suffering from depression. I scored 20/27 on the questionnaire thing. My Dr is offering me AD's, but I'm not sure I want to go down that route. I have my telephone consultation next Friday for counselling, so I'm hoping I qualify for some counselling.

OP posts:
archareastie · 10/08/2012 14:39

Just a quickie as Alice actually still asleep in her buggy after falling asleep in the car on the way home from meet up with deb Grin .

Just wanted to say blizy I was wondering if you had depression from some of the things you were saying in the past few weeks. Did you talk through with your GP starting the meds when ttc and what he feels about this?

onmehols glad you had a good hol, bought the weather home with you I see Grin

Well, meet up with Deb was ace - she is a lovely lady Grin . I've put some piccies on fb but mn won't let me put any on my profile for some reason, so will try and do it later. Twas very hot though [sweaty] . Oh and wiggles we went to the gift shop there in your honour obviously not through choice of course only for you and not for our own enjoyment at all oh no Wink Beans and sausage were v sweet and friendly and Alice had a great time - think she's been worn out and hope she sleeps a long time - I'm off to get a cup of tea Grin . deb we'll have to do it again some time and thanks alot for the light up ball Grin

ILovePonyo · 10/08/2012 21:41

Evening,

reastie and deb lovely pics, ahh am jel of your meet up! Good call on the gift shop :)

Thanks for the anti biting advice, A isn't a biter but I need to do some firm discipline now I recks. We went to Notts tots (baby gymnastics) today and she had a great time but when a little girl wanted to share a toy with A she screeched "no! MINE!" repeatedly Hmm Got some sympathetic looks from parents.

Last night she was awake from 3am til 4.30 Hmm she slept in til 9am though - almost seems worth it for that lie in!

So dp is taking her to his parents tomo - might need some virtual hugs by tomo night I think! eek. Am hoping he's ok too if she's not sleeping well - see last nights antics - nothing I can do though I suppose and I know she'll like seeing her cousins.
dp asked what I wanted him to say if his parents ask why I'm not there (not going b'cos of mil's innappropriate behavious at funeral and I know that they'll want to talk about my dad) I said to say whatever makes it easiest for him - don't want him to get into a row on my behalf. I also said to tell them we're splitting up which is why I;m not going Grin

Sorry for post being all me me me, hope everyone is well xx

debka · 10/08/2012 22:03

Hello all,

blizy it's no wonder you're depressed. I hope you can get some help, no experience here but many many good wishes xxx

ponyo ENJOY your time off, A will be fine, DP will be fine, just relax and have a good time :)

Had a lovely time with reastie who is not a hairy handed trucker, you'll be pleased to hear Grin. She was great company and easy on the eye too in a beautiful Boden dress Envy Grin. I think the girls enjoyed it, Alice is a proper cheeky little monkey and we liked her A LOT.

It's my other sister's baby shower tomorrow (starting to get expensive now...!!!) so there's far too much cake rattling round my house now- I will be strong, I will be strong....

have great weekends everyone and enjoy the sunshine :) xxx

onmehols · 10/08/2012 22:12

Wiggs and deb re your family history, did you know i had my mastectomy a year after my cancer as a precaution,it was my best decision ever and im happy to talk about it if you want.
Had a day at the pool today but it was heaving. Ishall be filling the poolhere tomorrow as cant be doing with the crowds.

MizK · 11/08/2012 16:54

Hi all, have had such a busy but lovely week, DD1 and DPs birthdays followed by a little trip to Paris with my mum and DD1 - first time the three of us have been away just us and it was lovely. DD didnt even whine at being dragged around the Louvre or walking endlessly with my mum and I cooing at the gorgeous architecture. God, I love Paris so much, need to win the lottery so I can move tyhere!
onmehols your hols sound gorgeous, despite the celibacy :) glad to have you back tho missy!
deb and reastie your pics were lovely, what a cute group of girls, looks like you had beautiful weather too.
wiggs hope your holiday goes well, despite the fact you arent jetting off to anywhere scorching this year. :)
ponyo enjoy your me-time! am mildly envious as Cass is currently tipping all my make up everywhere, cba to tell her off! Text me when A is back and we'll meet up one day? PS my tip for getting Cass off the bottle was a cup with a straw, its kind of a soft rubbery straw Nuby cup. She doesnt have a morning milk now but has her eve milk in front of In The Night Garden :) PS good call avoiding twattish PILs.
blizy fingers crossed you get counselling, I'm sure it would be a great help. Don't know about ADs but I think lots of the ladies have taken them and they've helped?
Right going to get moving, think an Indian takeaway is in order tonight when the terror is in bed. DP and I ordered Breaking Bad on DVD so going to give it a whirl tonight, hope its good!

archareastie · 11/08/2012 18:50

Mainly popped on to say hello ponyo I hope you're not missing Anya too much and that she isn't getting up to too much mischief with your DH.

mizk enjoy the takeaway and DVD tonight

deb it's so funny as now I can read your post and imagine you saying it in your rl voice IYKWIM not just a random internet person Grin

wiggles I bet the girls will love the holiday even if it isn't in your strict definition a holiday! Think of all the gift shops you can go to and you won't even have to change your money for another currency and get all confused about the cost of everything Wink

I've been DIY queen today - covered a lampshade for Alices room in this pattern (love it!), rewired some plug socket thingys and put up a flat pack play table for Alice's play room which was given to us (which required an allen key and screw driver and everything). Play table is lovely - is all posh and wooden and has a road map etc on it to play trains/happyland but is just sooooo big it feels like it takes up half the play room. And now all her happyland is out on top of it plastic tat has officially taken over Confused

ILovePonyo · 11/08/2012 20:50

Hello, well I'm fine Grin (thanks reastie) I have been shopping, bought myself a kindle Shock and now chilling out and feeling like I should be doing something/have lost something :) Spoke to dp and he and A are fine, she is still wide awake but that is to be expected, they have a massive room full of toys at pil, like a toy shop!

reastie well done on your productive day! Good work :)

MizK ooh gay paree, how nice :) It is beautiful there isn't it, sounds like a lovely trip. Thanks for the advice re: bottles, will keep an eye out for that. A just had her breakfast straight away this morning, its the evening bottles we need to drop now. (and the 3am ones, grr Anya) Text soon for meet up and a cuppa! Breaking Bad is good but intense ooh let me know what you think...

Hi everyone else, I will be having a late night and a lie in hopefully :) Am meeting friends for sunday lunch tomo then being generally lazy...

wigglesrock · 11/08/2012 21:06

ponyo glad you had a good day, I heart my kindle Grin

MizK very Envy re your trip. I daren't tell Mr W as he is dying to get back after we went last year. Sounds like a lovely trip!

Was just being a tad grinchy over the holiday Grin Mr W and I very rarely went on holiday together before we had the girls. We just used to take time off together and spend all day in the pub go for walks, eat nice food, spend all day in bed, watch mountains of dvds and sneak off to the cimema in the afternoon Grin But since we had Sofia we have went away every year [spoilt madams]. House we are staying in is lovely (its a friends) and we are right beside the most beautiful beach and little town is lovely - look at all the positivity Grin Heading off tomorrow - hope everyone has a great week, see ya wouldn't want to be ya xx

ILovePonyo · 11/08/2012 21:38

Ooh wiggles I forgot you had a kindle - any advice for me? From what I have tried (so far) they seem pretty straightforward but I'm a bit crap with technology and I'm not sure I've turned it off atm Confused The screen is light, is that right?!

Ooh enjoy your break (but I did Grin at you being grinchy) sounds perfect as does pre child holidays Wink Have fun!

blizy · 11/08/2012 22:56

Wiggles- hope you all have a fab holiday.

Ponyo- yes the screen is kinda light, to turn it off I think you hold the button in at the bottom for 10 secs. Mine is usually on the screen saver bit. Enjoy your new baby! I lurve mine.
