This time last year, we were all enormous, waiting for them to arrive - now they're almost 1

Took Harrison cycling for the first time yesterday and again today. We have a big country park near us and they have a family cycle track that is 3.5 miles. We had a great time apart from when we had to get up a steep hill and Hannah moaned the whole way.

Harrison looks so cute in his Fireman Sam cycle helmet. He seemed really happy on the back of my bike, especially going downhill at speed. I took some pictures so I'll get them downloaded and onto the Photobucket.

Hope everyone is having a good Easter holiday.

Pidge, I take my hat off to you starting your day at 5.30. Harrison woke yesterday morning just before 6.30 (an hour earlier than usual) and wouldn't settle back to sleep. When I checked him, he had a dirty nappy so no wonder he was unhappy Blush I felt shattered all day and had to have a lie-down when he had his afternoon nap.

Gosh, I feel old sometimes Grin

Happy Easter to all of you!How is the egg hunting going?
We had a very busy week so i did not have time to catch up. We started a teeth cleaning. After third try Ksenia actuallu liked it.But what she does more is eating the toothpaste and i don't know how to teach her to spit out the toothpaste. But at least with toothbrush she spends twice more time in the bath. And thank you guys for this knowlege coz now Ksenia is the first baby among same age babies here who started brushing her teeth.

I asked you before how do you update the fotobucket? I would love to send a few fotos and to see others.

My mum tought Ksenia a new trick When you ask " who is good here? who is pretty?" she shows to herself and when she does it she claps herself with two hands and ther is so much proudness in her eyes. And today i made two little tails on Ksenia's head. She spend about 10 mins looking at herself in the mirrow. So funny!
So, I hope you all having a great Easter.

jambot · 16/04/2006 16:02

Ukrainianmum - let us have an e-mail address for you and we will send you the passwords needed to access the photos. Ksenia sounds reallly sweet. Glad she's brushing her teeth now. Lauren also sucks the toothpaste off the brush. If you use special toothpaste for children you don't need to rinse.
Had a quiet Easter here. Went to my in laws for breakfast and an easter egg hunt. Grey, chilly day so the new Winter clothes are coming out now. Good - tired of all the same old Summer clothes. Lauren caught her foot in the bars of her cot today. Screamed the place down. Had quite a job getting it out as it was totally twisted. More screaming and then she promptly went to sleep for 3 hours!
Now busy wrecking the house before her tea time. Lots of standing on her own and a few steps, but only in her own time. If you try and encourage her she promptly drops into a crawl. Talking up a storm. Doesn't shut up all day. Mostly gobblydygook, but she has about 6 words she can say now.

JoPG · 16/04/2006 19:46

Yay - Freya is now walking! She can do about 10 steps before she falls over, but she is getting more confident all the time. If she is walking to somebody then she throws herself at them as soon as she gets within reach, but she is definitely getting there. She still crawls if she wants to get somewhere fast, but loves to walk cos of all the praise she gets when she does it - she is a little show off!

Easter Egg Hunt for Ethan today, he has got far too much chocolate - I might have to help him with some of it Blush. Then Sunday lunch at my mum's. DH ran there (it's about 9 miles) - I'm now cooling down before the big one next Sunday so I got to drive there!

Jambot - Freya wore some lovely new spring clothes today. By contrast to yourselves it was lovely to see her out of her winter stuff and not all bundled up!

Swimming tomorrow on the Bank Holiday and then back to school etc. on Tues. I've really enjoyed the hols and will be sad to see Ethan go back to school. We have been very busy though and i don't think I could keep it up too much longer!

ukrainianmum · 17/04/2006 07:15

Hi girls!
Ok,lets see those photos. My Email is "[email protected]". It will be a short catch up coz Ksenia is about to crash the wardrobe she wants to stroke our cat. Oh my god, all my coats on the floor.
see you later

jambot · 17/04/2006 17:36

Tamula - Ava is just too adoreable! Love the curls and big eyes.
We had 5 steps in a row here today. Most yet. Also have a little girl that has decided that her Mummy is her bestest person!:) All over me at the moment, which is the most affectionate she has ever been. Very sweet.

BonyM · 17/04/2006 21:11

Hi everyone, back from hols yesterday, great to catch up on everyone's news!

Have to say, that although it was good to get away, it wasn't a very relaxing holiday, as Grace needs to be watched constantly (she's one of those babies that's always getting into mischief!). Dh enjoyed spending time with the girls though as he generally only gets to see them for about an hour in the evenings when he's working.

We went to the Universal Studios theme park near Salou one day, and Grace, who is usually very wary of strangers, was totally entranced by the "characters" and even let Popeye sit her on his lap! I will put some photos on the bucket.

She is now standing for longer periods, unaided, and will occasionally make one or two steps - she sounds at about the same stage as Lauren, jambot. No words yet though, although she chatters away in her own little language!

Pointing is her latest thing and she will point and anything and everything, often accompanied by a very cute "ooh" sound Smile.

Hope everyone had a good Easter - I've just been munching chocolate egg - must try to find some willpower as I put on 4lbs whilst on holiday. Blush.

busywizzy · 17/04/2006 22:03

Hello everyone - hope you've all had a good Easter break. We've had a lovely few days and have done quite a bit of cycling, making the most of the lovely weather. Cycled all the way around Virginia Waters lake today (about 5 miles) and Harrison chatted all the way round quite happily.

My mum bought the children some summer clothes rather than another chocolate egg (what a star she is) and it's lovely to think that it's soon going to be warm enough to wear them, I hope !!

Harrison's got bored of saying NO (thank goodness), so we're back to no words, apart from T when you give him something. He grrrrrrs like a lion at everything though which is quite funny. Also no standing and no walking - no change there then Grin

leogaela · 18/04/2006 16:07

Welcome bake Bonym! did you have good weather?

I quite understand whenyou say that Grace is one of those babies that's always getting into mischief, Niklas is also one but I never realise how bad he is until there are other people around with their calm, quite, less active babies. However I think its great :o!
Funny that she points!

Aaaah, just realised what hte time is. I have to run but will try to login from home. I didn't manage at the weekend and feel really out of touch :(!

jambot · 18/04/2006 18:17

Lauren points at absolutely everything. Normally accompanied by 'da' - whatever that means.
Decided to give my prize back. Didn't feel right about selling it and the only preggie friend I've got in the UK hasn't got room for it. So that was the frustrating end to the only thing I've ever won!
Got three friends due their babies this month. First one has had a little girl. Next two due next week.

BonyM · 18/04/2006 18:52

Leo - agree that it is great having a mischievious baby, but also hard work! Dd1 was the easiest baby imaginable (although still fun) so it's been a bit of a shock to the system having Grace! No wonder I'm going grey Grin.

Shame about your prize jambot - pity they can't swap it for something else.

Grace has been a right grouch today (think she has another tooth coming) and I'm feeling a bit frazzled, so dh has taken upstairs to read some books before bath time, giving me a few precious minutes to catch up with MN!

Have put a few new photos on the photobucket.

JoPG · 18/04/2006 21:05

BonyM - Grace is very cute! Lovely photos. She looks very smiley in all of them.

jambot · 18/04/2006 21:40

Sweet little Grace - lovely pics Bonym.
PIDGE!! Have noticed the last pic of Iris was when she was 7 months!!! Hey! You can't be that busy at work that you haven't got 5 minutes to put on some new picsShock of your darling daughter.
Now, who else can I have a go at???

JoPG · 18/04/2006 21:53

I'm all up to date Jambot, honest!

Pidge · 19/04/2006 13:26

jambot Grin - you put me to shame! I'm just scooping my chickpea and couscous leftovers for lunch at work whilst simultaneously uploading a couple of new Iris pics to the photobucket. They're up there! Go check it out.

Now, without wishing to bring the mumsnet insomnia curse upon myself again ..... Iris has just done 6 days IN A ROW sleeping till 6am. I can't tell you how fantastic I feel. What a difference that makes from starting the day at 5 or 5.30am. Long may it continue.

On the walking front, she is now regularly taking a few steps on her own.

She talks constantly in complete gobbledigook. And thrills dp by shouting "dadden, dadden" whenever she lays eyes on him.

BonyM · 19/04/2006 16:04

Lovely pics Pidge - both your girls are gorgeous.

So sweet at her saying 'dadden'. Grace will say "dadda" but not really meaningfully!

She has just managed to pull the other shift key off the laptop (the first one went some weeks ago!) and i've not been able to get it back on properly! She is a complete wrecker...

ukrainianmum · 19/04/2006 20:10

Hello mumies and babies!
Pidge and Jambot congrats on your babies' walking progress!
Ksenia is a small runner now. Of course not all the the she gets to the aim.Like today she tried to catch a pigeon and then she saw a stray cat and she completely lost herself on the track and as resalt she felt down, knock he head on the floor. And we had to rush home coz she wouldnt stop crying.
I 've been trying to place some pics on the photobucket but some how only one was a succes.the rest apeeared to be only halfs. will try to do the same one later.
Ksenia is talking non stop.Dispite all that baby language she is trying to say real words.Like "mama", but only when she REALLY needs me. Or "papa" and she points to his photo or when she sees a phone. When she sees any flowers she says "ah-ah" which means that flowers have a scent and you can feel it.And from y'day she says "myao" to any cat she sees.
But i cant get the simpliest stuff like "no" or "yes" out of her.

busywizzy · 19/04/2006 20:44

Oh my goodness, all these babies with lots of hair and walking like little ones - Harrison still seems like such a baby compared to many others. He hasn't got much hair still, isn't walking and has given up standing. We have lots of 'mumumumumum' but not at me and I think he's saying 'D' when he sees his dog picture. Other than that, zilcho but still gorgeous and adorable Smile

Pidge {whispers very, very, very quietly}, long may 6am continue Smile

OP posts:
ukrainianmum · 19/04/2006 20:45

Ok,there is definetetly something wrong with my photobucket album.

I dont want my baby's pictures to be only half. Maybe somebody of you knows what is causing it? Help us please!!!!!

busywizzy · 19/04/2006 20:46

Pidge, peas in a pod springs to mind when I see your two girls Smile

Bonym, glad you had a lovely if not restful holiday Smile

OP posts:
BonyM · 19/04/2006 20:58

ukranianmum - it looks as though there is some interruption to the upload of the photographs - are you maybe leaving the site before they have uploaded completely? Ksenia is lovely Smile.

busywizzy · 19/04/2006 22:30

Sorry Alex, I'm not technical at all so can't offer any advice. The one picture we can see of you both is lovely though Smile

Jo, is this weekend THE ONE Grin Must remember to sponsor you before then. Good luck.

JoPG · 19/04/2006 22:52

Yep, this is the weekend!
Went up to the ExCel centre tonight to get my running number so it is all official now! Still seems a long way off and a bit unreal, but I think that is because I am trying not to think about it too much - it makes me nervous!
Will check out the new photos now, and then off to bed.

Pidge · 20/04/2006 09:03

JoPG - GOOOOOOOOOOD LUUUUUUUUUUUCK! Will be thinking of you on Sunday. Hope it goes really well, and most of all that you enjoy the experience. On a drastically different scale I have just entered my first 10k, can't believe I'm going to have to run for an hour, and you will do another 20 miles on top of that!!! You are an inspiration!

Busywizzy - you are so right about peas in a pod. It is uncanny how similar my girls are. I'm not confident that I would necessarily tell them apart in photos where they are the same age! Fortunately they have very different personalities. Dd1 was exceptionally calm and placid - never a tantrum, whereas Iris is a feisty little character, and will throw an enormous strop if she doesn't get her own way. I find it quite entertaining, having had such a different experience first time. I have to resist giggling when Iris does her 'raging' act. Iris is also physically much more daring, she goes at stuff with enormous gusto. And amazingly, since dd1 was considered very very chatty, Iris is holding her own linguistically and never shuts up!

ukrainianmum - well I work in IT, but I'm afraid I don't know what the problem is either. My best guess would be the same as boneym - something is interrupting the upload of the photos. One option is to try to reduce them in size - but it's not easy to tell you how to do that as it depends what photo software you've got. My digital photo software comes with a "Save as" option, where you can save a file as a jpeg with a lower resolution. The quality is still fine, but the file ends up being maybe 60k rather than 600k. Useful if you're sending photos by email etc. Good luck.
