This time last year, we were all enormous, waiting for them to arrive - now they're almost 1

Hi jambot

Well Her full name is Georgina but we call her Georgie, born 26th March 2005 (after 3 days at home labour and 23hrs 46 mins hospital labour) Born Using vontose as was back to back and face first so looked like she had gone 10 rounds with Mike tyson! Weighed 8lb 8 oz

slept through from 3 months but just recently has started sleeping longer and now sleeps from 6.30 pm to 8-8.30 am. Which is great!!

Has a very very healthy appitite, has been on solids since 4 months as was Bf until 3 months and then was not satified by formula either so out came the food!! She now has 3 normal meals a day and is a proper foody, like her father!!! Grin Only has 2 bottles one at bedtime and one first thing.

She is a character for sure, she hardly ever cries and is always so happy (although she does suffer badly with teething! poor mite) she loves FIfi and the flowertots, loves animals and giving kisses and cuddles.

She says mummy, daddy and baby now and shakes her head for No. She can stand without holding onto anything and walks 6 steps!

She is the apple of my eye (can you tell!)

BTW Im 24, and sadly still have my baby belly!!

jambot · 03/04/2006 11:07

Hi Georgiesmum. Your little one sounds similar to Lauren. She's also a happy little soul and makes me laugh constantly. She doesn't walk yet but think it will be soon. I've also been very luck in having a good sleeper. She doesn't sleep as late as Georgie, but sleeps through wonderfully. We are down to one snooze a day now. From about 11 to 1 or 2. She loves her bed as long as her blankie and 'Pinkie' her stuffed toy are in there with her.
Sure you'll enjoy it on here. Everyone is very nice and friendly and we could do with some more regulars.

Georgiesmum · 03/04/2006 11:17

Thanks jambot

Georgie has two naps, she goes back to bed after about an hour in the morning for about an hour and then has another hour at about 1ish after lunch.

georgie wont sleep without Mr. Bunny, we bought him before ahe was born as he fitted in with the colour of her crib and now she wont go to bed without him, nearly lost him in tesco once, never seen anyone so paniced (thats me not Georgie!) He is only a small briwn bunny from tesco but she loves him, I darent wash im as I dont know wether it will upset her?

jambot · 03/04/2006 15:49

I use a little 'tag' blankie which is nice because it's only the size of a hanky with silky tags on the edges. I've got a couple so that I can wash one whilst the other's in use.

Don't know where eveyone is today. Sure there'll be some more people in soon to say hi to you.

leogaela · 03/04/2006 16:20

Hi Georgie and Mum!

I still haven't managed to get Niklas attached to any nice cuddly toy or blanket. He had a sock obsession for a while and wouldn't go ANYWHERE without a sock in one hand, now he has a yellow plastic fork obsession and always has one in his hand! He does throw it out of his hand just before he goes to sleep though! Keep wondering if this is normal!

He likes his shoes a lot at the moment, keeps trying to put them on himself and when he has the chance he pulls all our shoes off the shelves and distrubutes them all over the place.

busywizzy · 03/04/2006 21:08

I don't want Georgiesmum on this thread, it's not fair to have a baby who sleeps 6.30pm until 8am Grin Only joking Georgiesmum, welcome aboard Smile

Harrison is going through one of his waking in the middle of the night and staying awake phases. Last week or so, he's been waking up although I don't have to get up to him, so it's not so bad. He's so good really as he just lies in his cot chatting away to himself and clapping his hands and then eventually he goes back to sleep. Last time he did this, he cut four teeth in quick succession so wonder if that's whats causing it this time.

Took Hannah to an Aquadome yesterday and had a fab time chasing her around the rapids. It was lovely doing something with just the two of us as we so often have Harrison in tow.

Leo, so glad to have you back Smile and Jambot, well done with your diet.

On top of sleeping like a demon, just read that Georgie goes back to sleep once she's been up an hour Shock Life's just not fair Grin

Hi leo, Hi buzy

Yes I am very lucky with georgie, she is back in bed now actually!

Georgie does suffer badly with teething tho, like Harrison by the sounds of it so we do have the occasional waking moment, very rarly but it oes happen!! Wink

leogaela · 04/04/2006 09:39

Niklas is also sleeping MUCH better at the moment :)!

Has anyone tried the AK lentils with sweet pepper recipe? I tried to make it last night (from my head as I have leant someone my book), I think that the pepper didn't agree with Niklas. He was sick and had diarrhea (sp?).

He was as happy as anything today when we dropped him off at nursery. so lovely to see him so excited and happy with the other children. He has also stopped being such a mummy's boy, at the moment he follows dh around everywhere, and last night (before dh got home) he stood at the top of the stairs shouting 'daddy'. He still doesn't call me mummy though!

jambot · 04/04/2006 19:12

Must say that peppers repeat terribly with me Leo, so maybe Niklas is the same.
My daughter is now Lauren AKA Monkey. She has decided she must now climb onto everything. Couch, coffee table at my mum's (glass!). Of course once she's on the couch she heads to the arm, straddles it and starts bouncing away, all the while being one second away from diving head first onto our concrete screeded(very hard) floors! She's even worked out that if she pulls the cushions onto the floor she can use them as a step to reach places. Will have to develop eyes in the back of my head.
Also battling with giving her finger food at the moment as she just throws it on the floor and then leans over looking for it, all the while pointing and say 'da', which is 'there it is' in Laurenspeak. Hmm. Especially anything eggy, which she has decided she doesn't like. Have tried scrambled, boiled, omlette etc, but she just spits it out. Damn. That rules out half the easy kiddy meals.
Diet going ok. Keep trying to visualise myself in a sexy dress for this wedding. Must say, haven't felt vaguely sexy for quite a while. My husband still insists I am, but must say I don't see it at all! Feeling very fat and frumpy. I'm only 36 for heaven's sake. This has got to end!!!!!

leogaela · 05/04/2006 08:19

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AVA :):):):! Tamula, I hope you and Ava have a lovely day!
How are you doing?

leogaela · 05/04/2006 19:01

Its quiet here today!

JoPG · 05/04/2006 19:59

Happy Birthday Ava.
Hope you have a lovely day.

Lots of love

Georgiesmum · 06/04/2006 09:52

Jambot, Lauren sounds very simular to georgie, she hates egg at the moment too and refuses to get it. She also decides that her lunch is much better on the floor and then moans when there is none left in her bowl! Georgie is AKA Trouble!

I am also still trying to diet, I was 10st before I had georgie (im5"8) and after I had her I was 13 st 6 lb Shock I am now 11st 8lb but still feel frumpy and I get sooo bored with dieting!! That will teach me for indulging my crazing for Mc Donalds Vanilla milkshakes and Lasagna and chips!!

jambot · 06/04/2006 10:29

My Dh hates egg, so she must get it from him. The lady I go to for Lauren's monthly check-up and who has helped me get Lauren into such a good sleeping routine says you have to persevere, as what they don't like this week they may like next.
Weight and height wise at nearly 13 months, she is 80cms and 11.1kg's. I'm in South Africa, so we're metric, Georgiesmum. Don't have a clue about pounds and inches.
Weather is starting to get cooler. Had our first rainy day on Tuesday, so Winter is on its way. Quite nice as it's only getting light at about 6:45 and I'm only waking then. In summer I'm up at 6, which drives me mad. Only good thing about that is that I'm up before Lauren and it's quite nice to have a cup of tea and read the paper before getting her up at 7.
If you let us have an e-mail address we can let you have the details for the March Babies Photobucket account so that you can see pics of all our babas, and if you want to you can put on some pics of Georgie.

Georgiesmum · 06/04/2006 12:59

Hi thats great! my email is [email protected]

Georgie is 82cm and nearly 11kg I think, she is very tall and slim, unlike her mum!

busywizzy · 06/04/2006 13:28

Hello everyone, I'm having a rare quiet 5 minutes at work so I'm wolfing down my jacket potatoe and trying to catch up on MN. Georgiesmum, I have lost a stone since the New Year (5'10" and back to 10st) and have been hugely supported by the Lardy Ladies thread on here. Come and join us if you want some inspiration.

Harrison went to bed at 6.15pm last night and slept until 7.15am - hooray. He woke about 6ish but I just rolled over and went back to sleep, as did he Smile Please, please let him be back on track now as I feel like a wreck trying to work on little/no sleep, after months of being at home and him sleeping like an angel Angry

Yesterday at the childminders, Harrison let go of the chair and stood on his own for about 5 seconds Shock Didn't repeat it for me of course.

Hope Pidge is having a lovely break (Wales I think she said) and where's BonyM?????

Hello to everyone!

Well, I must say that I was impressed that non of you has start a potty training yet. Personally me i was the last here who started doing this when my dd was 7 m.o. Normally mums here start this at the age of 3!!!!!!!! months and i was struggling with each and everyone who tried to prove me the benifits of it. I heard so many scary, horrible stories about how nappies r dangerous.that is good that i have a girl coz for a boy a long time wearing nappy can lead to infertility.and my arguments that people on europe are stiil exist coz men still can produce a sperm that makes babies were not strong at all.
But despite all of that i am happy with the potty. It is not hard as it may seems someimes it is even fun.

anyway, how all you have been. Ksenia y'day made 3

new sounds that really mean somethins. She can buzz like a doorbell, she can say boooooooo that mean a car and she can call a cat. And today we saw a lovely small dog and Ksenia had s much fun with it.She was laughing like never before and she was so happy when she was stroking dog's hair.
we had a lovely day out.hope when she wakes up will go out again.

leogaela · 06/04/2006 15:15

JAmbot, it seems as though your summer has passed by very quickly! Now it should be our turn :o!
However just as we thought we were moving into spring we had 10cm of snow yesterday! Looks as if it is improving for the weekend again though!

We are all doing well, getting over our bad colds thankfully! Niklas had a fall at the nursery the other day :(, when I picked him up he had a nice gash under his eye :(, it looked horrible but was just a bit bloody and actually a tiny scratch. They said he didn't cry when he fell, I was so proud of him :o!

I am so impressed with these discussions of potty training. How please tell me do you get a baby to poo in a pot at 3 months when they can't even sit up yet?????? Niklas usually poos in the morning but i am far too lazy to get out of bed and put him on pot. He seems completely oblivious to his pooing even though we do try to get him to understand what the whole nappy changing thing is for. Ukraniamum - does it really work to start training them so early. What do you do just stick them on the pot when you think they are ready to go? I don't think I would get Niklas to stay on it!

Yes, where is Bonym, its been very quiet around here this week. Also havent seen Popsy around for ages.

Busy! Harry really STOOD on his own!!! Well done him!

Hope he sleeps well again tonight, its so tough working when you are tired (today I know it as Niklas had a bad night last night too!)

busywizzy · 06/04/2006 15:35

Alexandra, I can't believe you were a late starter potty training Ksenia at 7 months Shock Shock Shock Shock Harrison doesn't sit still for a second so how I'd keep him on a potty, heaven only knows. Isn't it funny how different countries have such opposing views on these things Smile That's what I enjoy about MN, having the opportunity to hear such different opinions.

Leo, hope Niklas is OK. Poor baby Sad And yes, STANDING - I just knew you'd be impressed Wink

Not our best summer. Didn't mind really. Hate it when it gets too hot and you can't sleep at night. Lovely mild days at the moment. We have rainy, windy winters but it never gets really cold. I think 12 degrees is cold for us.
Talking of potties etc. They had this insert on CNN on this group of mothers in the US whose babies had never worn a 'diaper' as they call it. Apparently you can learn to ready the baby's wee and poo 'signals' and then you quickly pop them on the potty - from birth this is! They all seemed a bit kooky to me and I must say I have never seen any 'signs' from Lauren to warn me of impending action. Plenty when she's busy though, but too late then! Lots of groaning and straining and red face!!
Lauren's first bottom molar is breaking through - tooth number 9. How religious is everyone being about teeth cleaning? Must say I've been quite slack as all Lauren does is suck the toothpaste off the brush. Don't seem to be achieving much.
Glad Harrison is sleeping well Busy. Although climbing everything in sight, still no standing unaided here.

jambot · 06/04/2006 19:59

Sorry to say but there are some seriously outdated baby albums on Photobucket. Hey Mums - you know who you are - let's have some more up to date pics please!

busywizzy · 06/04/2006 20:44

We're rubbish at teeth cleaning Sad Only ever seem to remember just after I've put him to bed. He loves it as well and will happily open his mouth to have his teeth brushed and will then suck on the toothbrush for ages.

Note to self - must get better !!!

Have put a couple of pictures on the photobucket. I don't think mine were too old but I don't want to get in trouble Wink
