mopsytop · 18/03/2012 02:47

'a bit' not 'a not' !

hawthers · 18/03/2012 03:53

They didn't answer earlier but have just been outside hula hooping and whooping so I stomped down in my fluffy dressing gown and shouted at them. It's all gone rather quiet Grin

Still I've got to be up for the next feed in an hour....

hawthers · 18/03/2012 03:54

Oh mopsy poor head. Water water water

Xiaoxiong · 18/03/2012 04:55

plu my brother and I are bilingual in mandarin - I do spend some time every day talking to myself to Pirran. Who knows if it's going in but at least he'll be exposed to the sounds and tones from the beginning. And mopsy, chinese is similar in that there is no word for "no" as such, there is a negative particle added to modify a verb. And verbs have no tenses, they are modified by time particles (I talk yesterday/you talk now etc). When I started learning French I couldn't believe how many verb endings I had to memorise! Chinese is much easier Smile

Ok DH is back from changing Pirran who has decided it is morning and is gurgling and laughing - now to try and feed him back to sleep...

Xiaoxiong · 18/03/2012 04:57

hawthers I'm amazed at your restraint - sleep is so precious to me at the moment I probably would have sprayed them with the garden hose! Or played Chinese opera at them out the window

Xiaoxiong · 18/03/2012 04:58

And mopsy hope you feel better soon - water, paracetamol and berocca help?

LittleMissFlustered · 18/03/2012 05:14

hawthers If there's a next time, just ring 101 after midnight. They're breaching the peace. Most students are petrified of the police:o

hawthers · 18/03/2012 05:27

We aleady called the police on 101 but they told us to call the council who could have come out at some point but would need to come into our house to assess the noise. It seems to have stopped although we had an hour if taxis as people left.

Will get my revenge in the morning when I go around to tell them off again discuss why that can't happen again.

Bilingual in any language is very cool but mandarin is particularly funky.

hawthers · 18/03/2012 05:28

Hmm odd choice if word don't think I've used it since 1995. Must be the lack of sleep

LittleMissFlustered · 18/03/2012 05:46

Are they actual wall sharing neighbours? Revenge at half eight would be sweet...

aethelfleda · 18/03/2012 05:48

Unk... Good luck eith the dressing down hawthers, do tell em you need them to be a bit quieter as they upset the baby: the partygoers wont car but the tenants may feel guilty...

OP posts:
hawthers · 18/03/2012 05:56

Not wall sharing so bob only knows why their immediate neighbours didn't say something. I did say screech something about waking the children ad they all scuttled back inside.

Happy Mothers Day Ladies Flowers

rice33 · 18/03/2012 07:57

Good morning Smile

I had an overnight mothers day present of 4 consecutive hours of sleep , I feel like a new woman this morning after it !

Mopsy hope your head isn't too bad this morning , I hate hangovers and get really bad ones if I'm not careful. I loved French and German at school but I just never got into learning Irish , it just always felt like such a waste of time . It's a tricky one I don't think it should be a compulsory subject in school but if it wasn't then perhaps it would die out altogether and I'd hate to see that too.

Tyle I think mandarin is the way to go as a second language for the future . My dd1 was watching a cbeebies programme the other day that was teaching just that.

Mmmm yes we have massive liquid mustard poos here every 3-4-5 days . The last gap was 5 days and so basically Saturday was dedicated to filling 4 nappies to the brim with the stuff ! Total respect to all of you using reusable nappies but on poo days here I know I would just end up throwing some in the bin and my supply would dwindle away !

My own mother is over in Germany visiting her sister who has cancer so it will be a different type of mothers day here today . I'm very close to my mom and see her pretty much every day , she minds dd1 for me and will mind dd2 when I go back to work in October . Dh loves to cook and does all the weekend cooking so I'm sure it will involve a nice dinner anyway Smile

Happy mothers day to everyone !!!! Grin

OiMissus · 18/03/2012 09:44

Happy Mother's Day!
DH brought me rice krispies in bed Grin and is now cooking a breakfast!!! GrinGrin from Alistair, of course.
I am fluent (ish) in French and German, I did a joint degree with marketing. I knew from the age of 15 what I wanted to do. Bob knows how. Am now in international marketing. LO won't be bilingual but I plan to try and introduce languages from a very young age, if I can.
I have no musical talents but regularly subject LO to in-car screeching singing.
Am going to download lots of rhymes and children's songs and play Big Rock Candy Mountain on repeat forever. Grin
LO knew it was mothers day, he only woke once last night - at 2:45 - and them waited until after 7am to wake up. Grin
I got a lovely card and a mug Grin and some flowers. Lovely. Can I admit to being a teensy bit disappointed as they say "mum" and not "mummy"? DH tried his best. Am just a bit silly.
We tried palm prints this morning... Ahem. Feet are easier! But at 3 months Ali's prints are huge! Still, the grandma's will be happy.

OiMissus · 18/03/2012 09:46

Where did that rogue apostrophe come from? Shoo!
Am a bit Grintastic this morning, too.

mopsytop · 18/03/2012 10:02

Happy mothers day!! Feel okayish. Head much better than in middle of the night but think will go get painkillers, juice and coffee. And next time will stop after two ... Although don't you recall my saying that a few weeks ago!? Oops ....

Xiaoxiong · 18/03/2012 10:40

rice we use disposables occasionally when out and about for long stretches or while travelling but when I know that a poo is due, I make damn sure he is NOT wearing a disposable but instead a two-part washable (we use nature baby bamboo nappies under a motherease rikki wrap). Every time he has pooed in a disposable it has leaked - have tried 4 different brands and they are all shit (no pun intended). The reusables have never leaked, so no poo covered clothes which get seemingly permanent curry stains and then have to be stripped off...poo everywhere...eughhh. With reusables I don't even get poo on my hands since his clothes are still clean!

Xiaoxiong · 18/03/2012 10:44

Oh and happy mother's day everyone - DH has taken his lower 6th tutor group up to Cambridge to look round colleges and meet his old director of studies and a few other dons. Oh well - Pirran and i will meet them in chinatown for dinner so I can impress them ordering in Chinese Wink

KateM77 · 18/03/2012 10:51

Happy Mother's Day to you all, lovely ladies Thanks

I had a very nice start to the day when DD walked into my bedroom with a card and a Links of London bag. DH The DC's got me a gorgeous bracelet with a heart charm on it, which has been engraved from them Grin. I got a little tear in my eye because the type of presents I usually get, if any, tend to be gadgets that DH wants!

And in other news, we finally DTD yesterday and it was fine. I don't know why I'd been so worried about it Blush

Hope you all have a great day. I'm off to try and catch up with the thread now.

MissRee · 18/03/2012 11:04

Happy bob damn mothers day... Freya has done nothing but scream every time I go near her and DP is the only one who can settle her Sad

NorthernChinchilla · 18/03/2012 11:06

Well it's been a lovely Mothers' Day here so far. I had my Vintage Tea yesterday, and then had a card and a lie in for today. Like others, my first present, at 6.20am, was a massive poo from DS- it explained why he'd spent the previous 20 minutes wiggling away madly. But, oh, your poor Auntie MissRee, that's hilarious! I'm just waiting for DS to do that... at least she saw the funny side...
But he slept through the evening, so DP had an easy one last night, then woke at 2 something and 6...and at 8 was handed over to Daddy, and I slept til gone 10, bliss!

Had fun last night too- I was boring and just had a one-unit drink per hour or so, over 5 hours. So enjoyed the drink, but wasn't drunk, and there will have been some in my milk but can't imagine it'll hurt as a one-off. My cocktail glasses, of which I have many Grin will be cracked out when I move to mixed feeding/weaning.
Hope you're feeling better soon mopsy, there's nowt worse than children plus hangover

air- your sobriety test made me PMSL!

Hello rice, lovely to make your acquaintance!

Hopefully you can go get medieval on their collective arses hawthers, and do it loudly as they'll be feeling even more hungover than mopsy. Bloody thoughtless bunch, and (she says hoiking her pleated skirt up to her bosom) the crap music as well. Good to see funky being used though, we should resurrect it on the thread!

Don't worry rashka- I too am not blessed in either the musical or language department. I have French A-level, but that's about it. We have other talents, obviously..
< shuffles off taking dunce's hat with her >

NorthernChinchilla · 18/03/2012 11:07

Oh dear, X post MissRee- it can only improve.

seven77 · 18/03/2012 12:51

Happy mummy's day! I got a lovely plate printed with their photo on (the one I put on the fb group last week). I've also had a bacon and egg roll and we're having honey glazed gammon for lunch, then going to see my parents this afternoon.

mopsy hope your head is ok!

hawthers glad you gave them what for!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 18/03/2012 13:07

Some bloody Mothers Day - Darcie wants to be centre of attention Sad and creating a fuss about everything...so much for me relaxing!
