Cheshire lol, mine isn't a class just 'themed' free play (next 6 weeks is messy play!) and singing nursery rhymes at the end which the babies love... The classes are probably aimed at (I don't mean to sound snobby here) 'lower class' mums who don't have much support!

FuzzzyDuck · 23/02/2012 17:51

sp that's great you got app through, though you must be nervous. Will keep you in mind that day Smile

sch I would love my hair that long!! Mine gets to just below my shoulders then doesn't grow any longer Envy. What about googling to see if there is a mobile hairdresser that could come to your house? My friend does mine and comes first thing in the morning. S happy sits in the kitchen in her bouncy chair watching Smile

cheshire iv got a little soft brush for S (tommee tippee). He hair gets really fuzzy at the back from turning her head a lot if she is on her mat.

Well we tried spinach tonight for tea Grin. It was a 'plum' pouch that I had got 1/2 price so gave her some of that while her sweet potato was cooling. Face was Confused to start but then she couldn't get enough of it!! Had her potato then some apple and pear purée. After yesterday when she ate nothing, was glad to be back on track today. Got a little steamer today that you use in microwave which I think will be handy. Was using my mums huge plug in, 4 tier thing but this looks just as good. Only thing with moving onto real food is the dreadful, absolutely stinking nappies Blush !!

MamaMaiasaura · 23/02/2012 18:19

sch mines now down to top of my bottom. I rarely get it cut as can't find time or money. Had a trim for wedding in September and that was first one in over 2 years Blush. I don't colour it tho so no upkeep really. I'd love a hairdresser who did mine and kids at home

MamaMaiasaura · 23/02/2012 18:22

Bugger just fed j off wrong boob, now lopsided and bursting. Trying to get her on right one but no idea what to put her on
Later.

Engelsmeisje · 23/02/2012 18:34

seems that side-effects are fairly normal mama, DH says he had them ;last time (he had depression about 10 years back) but doesn't remember them feeling so bad. Packet says they can affect reaction times (so should be careful if driving) and not to mix with alcohol as well. He's only just started so wants to keep going as they can take 4-6 weeks for the positive effects to start to work, but he says he's already starting to feel a bit better in the evenings.

Have just put M to bed so hoping that'll be it til tomorrow morning Grin

Enjoy your new car ed. I picked up my new 5 door Yaris last week and I love it. Finally a grown up car!

Was just thinking about my hair this week as well. Really should get it cut nefore I go back to work but can't be bothered.

Fuzzzy do not envy you the stinky nappies - am not looking forward to that! Only thing, we were told to steer clear of spinach for a while, I think at least 9 months. Something to do with nitrates. (will go and look it up in my info).

penguin You always sound so wise in your posts. To quote one of my fave rainy day brainless Chick flicks: "How do you know so much, about so much?"

Re: flat head, M has been using a pillow to help him safely sleep on his side for 2 weeks and I can definitely see an improvement. Using it during the day sometimes, but also giving him time to (try to) roll and tummy time.

FuzzzyDuck · 23/02/2012 21:17

eng to be honest it was only a tiny bit. The pouch was 'sweet potato, spinach and pea' so I doubt it had much. That's funny though as in the cow and gate weaning guide (I think it's that anyway!) one of the first weaning tastes is spinach. It suggests to buying a bag and using only that as a purée. Funny the mixed advice eh? She did enjoy it, but what came out the other end was the worst yet!!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 23/02/2012 21:41

Wait till she's a toddler the nappies get much worse as they gat older!

mama so sorry

fd I find it amazing that your lo is eating proper food! J is so far from being ready for that

sch my hair is also desperate for a cut. I don't colour it so no roots, but i feel I certainly don't look my best. I now wear it up a lot as otherwise j pulls it all out!

Big day yesterday, we went swimming for the first time and j rolled from his back to his front! The swimming was great and I have signed up to the lesson for the rest of the term (5 weeks). He just was so amazed at it all. No smiles (but no crying) but he was just so fascinated by the water and the room and the other babies

Rolling was v exciting, he looked v pleased with himself. He has been almost there for a while but couldn't work out how to get over his shoulder/arm. He does end up with his arm stuck under him do I need to then release it. He must get this from dh, I was v late doing everything.

We had friends round for dinner last night. I love to cook and think I am a competent cook. I made the worst meal i have had in a long time! I had to just laugh as it was so do bad. Pilsl round tonight so hopefully I will cook better

FuzzzyDuck · 24/02/2012 08:36

Morning all! em swimming and rolling Grin. That's great he enjoyed it and you've signed up for the rest of term!!

I've not taken S swimming since that first time a while back. I really should as she enjoyed it. We have however, on the nights i give her a bath, I've been getting in with her. I'm loving the closeness and all the skin to skin. I never done any of that when she was first born so it's lovely now. She just splashes away and plays with all her rubber ducks!! It's very sweet to see her starting to take in everything around her now Smile

We are off to 'jo jingles' this morning. It's free for under 6 month olds so if you have a class near you, go along and make most of it! I uses to take one of the girls I watched and she loved it. Gets us up and out the house early!

Bubalie · 24/02/2012 08:43

Morning everyone! mama DH better and gone to work today, thanks!
scheh my hair has never been worse! Since i've been pregnant and after I had L it's all over the place. Roots, dry ends etc. I feel such a scruf most of the time. I have an appointment next saturday so DH can have L while I'm in there, having it cut and coloured the full works!
Fuzzy how do you do your purees are you steaming and then mashing/blending? I have no idea what to do I think I need to buy a book pronto!! Your little one seems to enjoy the food :)
I'm still only doing baby rice once a day, I think I will for another couple of weeks. Does anyone know if this is ok to do (as in baby rice for couple of weeks and then the purees, as everyone is saying baby rice for a few days and then purees straight away?
emmazed congratulations on the first roll! How exciting! L rolled over from his back to his front last weekend, but hasn't done it since so i think it was an accident Hmm!

FuzzzyDuck · 24/02/2012 08:52

bub yes, I steamed a sweet potato then blended using hand blender and some cooled boiled water just to thin it down a bit. I got little trays that almost look like ice cube ones, but are slightly bigger and have lids. Wait I'll try find them and link..

www.google.co.uk/m/search?site=images&source=mog&hl=en&gl=uk&client=safari&q=weaning%20ice%20cube%20trays%20with%20lids&sa=N%23i=4

Can't link as on phone but that's the ones I'm using. I got them in morrisons for I think £1.50! Can't see them listed on kiddicare website

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 24/02/2012 09:02

Fuzzy is it the one in hamleys ur going to? let me know if it's any good I've been meaning o try it for a while.
Off to pick up new car Grin

strawberrypenguin · 24/02/2012 09:18

scheh my hair hasn't been cut since before W was born but it's no where near as long as yours, that's impressive! Am just starting to think about getting mine done too.

em sonds like J had a busy day :o W has only managed to get onto his side so far, not his front. Bit worried about him doing it for the first time overnight when I won't notice, although if he does he'll probably start screaming because he hates tummy time. (I'm a mean mummy and make him do it anyway though)

fuzzy all that proper food sounds exciting :) we are a way off I think

FuzzzyDuck · 24/02/2012 09:32

ed no I'm going to one in Milngavie, there is a baby one in Patrick on a Wednesday morning, but don't think that's really close for you? Not sure where else they are.. It is good tho for the pre school age so I'm hoping the baby one is too! Good luck with your car, such a great feeling!! Grin

Engelsmeisje · 24/02/2012 13:06

just checked all my Dutch info fd and over here they say no spinach til 6 months and then no more than twice a week, but I agree a little bit can't hurt. Sometimes I feel like I'm going cross-eyed with all the "advice" that we get about what to do and what not to do (and then someone tells you something different!). Grin

Engelsmeisje · 24/02/2012 15:08

quiet on here today

I am so pleased with myself for finally sorting out my paperwork I think I shall reward myself with some Wine tonight. Have a good Friday night everyone.

MamaMaiasaura · 24/02/2012 15:10

Well done Engels. I'm on the oh fuck oh fuck thread, partaking in appliance cleaning porn Grin washing machine and dishwasher going. Want to do other appliances but they'll have to wait till later

CheshireDing · 24/02/2012 15:49

Afternoon ladies :)

Well I hosted the NCT Coffee Morning at my house today so that was interesting! Only trouble is there is loads of caramel slices left and I have been eating them alone like a piggy fat person :(

P isn't rolling either yet, congratulations on yours though Em :) I like to think it's because she will just go straight to sitting up or something Hmm. When I put her on her cushion for tummy time and help to push her along she doesn't seem bothered either way, I think she needs stronger arms - obviously has her Dad's weedy arms as Mummy is always moving furniture so very strong (imo) Grin

Wondering whether DH and I and P should eat out tonight, even though I am full of caramel slice. Fancy some nice food though.

Bubalie · 24/02/2012 16:30

Thanks Fuzzy will look the pots up. I did buy some small ones with the lids from Mothercare last weekend, but have heard about the ice cube looking ones. I have a steamer, so I guess I'm all set up!
Cheshire the NCT class I went on while I'm pregnant is still going :). We meet up at each other house every week and it's great. All the babies were born within 4 weeks of each other. I can confirm that there are always lots of cakes and biscuits, I always end up with no lunch as have overdosed on cake!!! :o
I have had to take L out for all 3 of his naps today so i don't have to rock him and get myself stressed with him fighting sleep. This morning we went to collect a package from the post office, early afternoon we went and did the food shop and this afternoon I've taken him for a walk in his buggy although it looked like it's going to tip it down with rain!! All this for a total of 1.5 hrs sleep!!!!

Bubalie · 24/02/2012 16:31

WAS pregnant!! and not am pregnant :o

strawberrypenguin · 24/02/2012 18:50

Apologies in advance for the mostly non baby related post but we got our house keys today for our very own house :o no more renting, the ability to paint W a cool bedroom :) and many other things :)

I would have failed my mummy exams today though, put W in his car seat (on the floor) to get ready to go out. Cat mewed to come back in, turned around to open the door for her, turned back to find W grinning up at me from the floor Shock I hadn't yet strapped him in he must have tried to sit up and fallen out. He didn't make a noise or anything. He's fine thankfully seemed rather pleased with himself too and I have learnt my lesson re strapping into chairs.

Ok more baby stuff than I thought :)

CheshireDing · 24/02/2012 19:26

Congratulations on the house Smile

Whopps about the baby strapping Grin

MrsHende · 24/02/2012 19:50

Hooray for the new house! I can't wait to have a room to decorate for L!

DH's clanger of the day today, while discussing all the events we need to buy gifts for in the next few weeks...

MrH - I think Mothers' Day is ridiculous.
MrsH - Are you actually kidding me?!!!
MrH - What?

I really think it hadn't even occurred to him that I'm now a mother and this is my first mothers' day!

(I know he's probably right, when looking at the big picture, just a money making event by the card makers. But still!!! It's my first one!! I don't care if it's ridiculous, I want a card that says Mummy on it addressed to meeeeee! Grin)

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 24/02/2012 21:04

On my first mothers day we were in Egypt and dh completely forgot all about it! After a lot of not subtle hinting I sai to him that it was mothers day. He bought me a postcard from the gift shop with tuttunkamun (sp?) and his justification was the he's now a mummy Angry & Grin

Sad alert: feel free to skip my post

Not wanting to bring thread down but Sad as just heard from friend re SIL. She had baby yesterday, her and her dh refused to see baby and didn't want to know sex. They are already talking about trying again and view it as "a mc and not a baby" SadSad I had an early mc and it was still my baby. I know people handle things differently but I actually cried when I read that. I know I'm prob silly but I just thought poor baby, as at 28 weeks they are very small but very obviously babies and my friends ds was born at that stage and tho small he was still third baby (now a strapping 12 year old).
