cheshire Sorry didn't want to make you feel you were doing too much, but reassure you that you were doing enough. :o It's typical of being a Mum, whatever you do your questioning whether it's right.
I don't do any regular activities, we always seem to be too busy with other life stuff. I've still got friends who haven't met Seth. Plus I do like my days at home baking and trying to make things.

Having said that I've agreed to start running one of the weekly NCT groups. The local branch is a new branch. It used to be part of a much bigger area, too big an area, not many people from round here joined so we've split off to form a separate group. The group I'll be running is at the local Ikea cafe. It's a great place for a group as there's a kids play area free hot drinks and a cooked breakfast only costs 99p. It's worth going just for the food :o

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 12/01/2012 21:35

I only go to one mother and baby group per week too ATM but I am going to add another and it's really more for DS and myself than M.
I'm being much more sociable this mat leave than I was with Christopher. I have swapped numbers with a cpl women from Aquanatal classes and we'll be meeting up soon and I'm meeting up with some women from the NhS breastfeeding class next week too. Feels like it's been forever since I've met so many new people. (I usually stick to my very few close friends or my mum but I do now think it's good for me to get to know a more "diverse" group of friends!

Mark has gone out to poker tonight, he had done the housework before going to work this morning, my only jobs for today were ironing and cleaning the oven, I have done NOTHING Blush he will actually come home to a much messier house than he left oops! I'll at least pick up the toys etc from living room and dishes before going to bed.

Anyone have any tips on getting motivation to do housework?
I basically spend every day looking for an excuse to go out lol

GroovyRach · 12/01/2012 21:41

ed I'm the same. My house is a riot!! No idea how it gets so bad!! Might have to sweet talk my mum into taking S for a few hrs tomorrow so I can blitz it all. Hate doing bits here and there, much prefer having a few hrs to do it all at once!

I really need to meet some new 'mum' friends. Starting to spend waaaaay to much time with my mum Hmm

No tips from me ed, if I do any housework I spend the rest of the week day congratulating myself and reminding dp how great I am Grin

There are ponies on our yard just waiting for a little jockey, can't wait! Also can't wait till he's feeding less often and u can start riding out more, I'm lucky that I get practically free full livery on the expectation that I'll ride the owners horses once C grown up a bit.

Me and c in bed now, had a late one so not sure whether to dream feed or not. Night all!

P.s. I'm originally from n.yorks, lived in Durham, and spend a lot of time at dps family all at Trafford (mancs), so you can't out northern me sassy ;) only moved to Derbyshire last summer for dp's job, but as he has a season ticket for utd we go back every wknd.

sassy34264 · 12/01/2012 21:47

scheh dont bother comparing, they are all sooooo different, plus, i think the 1st and last baby born on this thread differs by 2 months, so you might be freaking out over a baby older than c. x

cheshire there is 14 months between twins and eva. tbh, the twins were a lot harder than this now. i just feel like the 1st 6months was a fog. i look at eva and cant hardly remember the twins being that age. the sleep deprivation was horrendous. me and dp were agruing, i was living at my mums cos our house was being gutted and rebuilt but she had to move out as it isnt big enough, all our stuff was in storage and we had to deal with plumbers, electricians, plasterers, builders, roofers etc. all my family work full time and dp is away all week and then he was spending every weekend at the house. how we got though it intact still amazes me, as dp did have a wobble when i was pregnant with eva. we had drifted a lot and he said he wasnt sure he loved me Hmm so told him to leave. he back tracked instantly and we muddled through for a while.
we are a lot better this time, as we are in own home, all 3 babies sleep from roughly 7-7am and we havent drifted. also, despite jacob being a little bugger- they are relatively good, contented babies. ha, bet you only wanted a short answer.

i dont do lipstick at all. just gloss. Smile

Scheherezade · 12/01/2012 21:48

P.p.s. I'm a Newcastle supporter, ha'way mags :)

bilblio · 12/01/2012 21:50

Certainly no baby mandarin here, far too northern round here. That's another reason why the nct has never been very successful, it's far too posh! We're hoping to change people's view of it.

I was amazed to discover someone has set up a buggyfit group that runs twice a week at the local park. It starts next week so I'm going to try to get there.

I'd really like to get myself a babysigning qualification too. I know all the signs anyway because of my job, but the course to be approved is several hundred pounds... hmm cogs whirring... I wonder how much interest there'd be... I forgot who asked, but it was me hoping to start up a business... I've not got anywhere with it.

Scheherezade · 12/01/2012 21:51

Sass-he's probably the oldest out the October babies as he was 4weeks early, born 24th Sept. I'm hoping that with that taken into account he's not too bad! I always worry it was the mountain of custard creams I ate that damaged him in some way!

Penelope1980 · 12/01/2012 21:56

Well I am well and truley southern so have an excuse for all the classes ... southern as in southern hemisphere. Although when I lived in the UK was in West London which is pretty posh as well I guess Grin

Penelope1980 · 12/01/2012 21:59

scheh no point in comparing at all. When the babies are all turning 21 it won't make any difference what baby held their head up first! [pauses to contemplate how old I will be when Amotai is 21 and shudders]

I read Tina Fey's autobiography recently and she had a really good quote on parenting, that you don't know whether you've been a good parent or not until they're 33 and "the personality dust has settled". That idea has made me relax a lot.

GroovyRach · 12/01/2012 22:01

I always forget what age everyone's babys are. I just remember towards the end, it was you sch that was having all the sign despite being a few weeks behind my due date of the 1st of oct, then you went and had ds!! I must have a look at the stats thread again to refresh my tired brain Grin

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 12/01/2012 22:35

One of my friends was talking about that apparently one of the girls was pregnant at 13 Shock if that was M I'd be a gran in 13 yrs time now that is just terrifying and I won't watch for that reason lol.

Saw a really awful thing in the papers today about a woman who killed her baby and left his body in the cot for 8 months it showed pictures of her flat and it was disgusting just so upsetting what that poor poor baby went through! She had the cheek in court to sy that he was the most precious thing in her life! Now can't Get it out f my head!

sassy34264 · 12/01/2012 22:38

penelope my brother didnt speak properly until he was over 2 years old and even then he needed speech therapy.
dp spent a lot of time with him last year as he helped to do up the house and on the 1st day, dp came home and said to me- ' god your andrews a talker' i swear to god, he never ever shuts up! he even out talks my mum and that's saying something. also he used to cling to my mum as a little boy, she use to have a wee with him on her knee and he plays rugby, goes the gym and is a total slobby bloke.
so definately no need to be too worried, if they are a certain way when they are young it doesnt mean it is for ever.

sassy34264 · 12/01/2012 22:42

oh god edward i would be one in 2 years!!!!

i would die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GroovyRach · 12/01/2012 22:44

Yeah 13!! She was drunk at a party Shock

I seen the pics of that house in paper today. Very very sad Sad. That poor boy. My heart breaks to think of children being treated like that. So close to home as well, paisley!!!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 12/01/2012 22:49

OMG I missed where it was can't believe it was so close. They were talking to the neighbours on the news and one of them was talking about the last time they saw the baby and said he was really withdrawn and his eyes were glazed over! Just sickening to think what the poor baby went through, don't imagine the mum will last long in prison! It's beyond belief how twisted she must be to do that to her "precious" baby! She deserves everything she gets IMO

GroovyRach · 12/01/2012 23:02

Yeah very scary!!
