Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ssmile · 27/02/2012 19:50

candr I'm using a beaker from Tesco I think its got mixture of soft &hard spout and two handles my Lo won't take a bottle but she likes to hold the handles swing it around and occasionally get it in her mouth :) most of the nurseries I think just use the really simple hard flip up spout beakers. easy to wash and cheap. gd luck finding one your Lo likes.

Minkyjj · 27/02/2012 23:16

Wow. Away for a couple of days and so much happens! Feral - hope you are feeling tons better, alot to cope with hun. Sebs, well done on own room - I feel further from that than ever with lo waking hourly through the night for food. I have now got him onto formula all day and am just feeding at night but I think that may be the problem - my milk doesn't seem to satisfy him for long (probably got lazy at bf after having easy bottle feeds and not having to work at it so not taking enough at a time.) really wanted to keep going with the bf as I love it and it's such a special bonding time but I'm on the floor with lack of sleep now and really ill from being so run down - on anti depressants for anxiety now and another load of antibiotics. I also hope that we can develop a new bond now he's a bit older - tonight when he was trying to fall asleep he was smelling my face and almost sucking my cheek - sounds gross but it was so adorable at the time as I could tell he wanted to be really close to me and it was as if he was giving me a kiss on my cheek like toddlers do before they learn not to dribble on you!
Aching from head to toe as I decided to walk the school runs today - one and a half hour round trip to schools and home. Lo slept the whole way in his pram and I wondered if we would actually make it home but felt better for the fresh air and exercise.
Well, off to sleep (after kicking the tooth fairy as she is blowsy useless in this house and liable to forget to collect said tooth and leave cash ! Night all

feralgirl · 28/02/2012 16:18

Hi all,

Minky, poor you, I really hope the ADs start to do a good job ASAP. That is v cute about DS getting right up next to you in bed, DD has started crawling over to me in the night but I think it's just to wake me up to feed her rather than for a cuddle!

Candr we've just got DD a Tommee Tippee tip it up cup as she won't take a bottle either. It's got a really nice soft spout but it's quite big though. The Dr Brown trainer cup looks good too so if DD doesn't like the TT one then I might try that next.

DD's been having lots of tastes of stuff, like Ssmile's DD she's not too fond of being spoon fed so I tend to dip the spoon in porridge or weetabix and let her suck it off. She has sucked a scud load of hummous off breadsticks today though so I am a bit scared of what's going to materialise in her nappy later! Mango and watermelon have also been big hits.

Yes please to the cake Loves Grin

100years · 28/02/2012 17:11

cake, yeah I had someone tell me my LO should be sleeping more now, well as far as I am concerned every baby is different, I deal with her wakings quite well and most of the time I'm soon back off to sleep again, I'm not struggling with it, although I would like her to be sleeping more, I'm doing OK at the moment. Grin

Loves have you heard anything yet? I keep failing making banana cakes, the banana seems to sink to the bottom of the cake and leave a stodgy mess there.

feral, I hope you are feeling much better now. Is DD better, was it a one off, or is she unwell? Talk to your DH about the BF/FF and how you need more help. Soot is horrible to deal with. Hope your oven is fixed soon, if not already. Flea bites, yak, I moved into a place once and the previous tenant had left their cat fleas for me! Hire a cleaner to sort out house, sometimes when things are 'too messy' it's harder to sort out. Runs can wait. Hammer on your neighbours house in the middle of the night. Can't help about the money situation. Do what you feel is best about the interview. kick your car, it won't help fix it, but it will give you a bit of a anger vent. :)

ssmile, indeed, we wouldn't have things to moan about and moaning is good isn't it! LOL at 10 hour naps, in our dreams.

sebs, not yet got anything planned, can you get to chester? I could catch a train there and we could have lunch or something in chester. Glad you have had a few decent nights sleep there :) I find talking about sleep seems to jinx anything for me, so I try not to talk about it much.

candr, I know what you mean about dreading being up all night in another room. I'm still feeding LO a lot through the night, and I'm reluctant to put her through yet.

Minky, my LO sucks my face too, in fact I have a mini love bite on my cheek from where she sucked with such vigour last week! I think it's very cute, although I'm never sure if she is hungry when she does it.

Well we're still not weaning, next friday is weaning day! Or rather the start of it. I kind of am counting down to it a bit, which I don't want to as that's wishing my life away. It's a totally new entity entirely for me. The rest of the stuff I've seemed to have winged it and got through fairly unscathed, but weaning, well that's a whole new ball game. Going for the BLW approach, so I'm currently reading through the book with much enthusiasm to find out how to go about it. Can't believe she will be 6 months next week. Time has flown by far too quickly.

After her illness we've started to have a few struggles getting her to sleep again at night, we had only just got her sorted after the cold and getting her settled again, then she was ill again, so things went out of the window again. Never mind, we will get there again.

Well LO is crawling more and more, she's also taken to gong on her hands and feet, as opposed to hands and knees occasionally! OMG. But she still takes to drag herself along too as I think it's quicker and easier!

QueenRunningGeekMum · 28/02/2012 22:03

Argh thought I'd lost you all - I haven't posted for a while and so you disappeared from my 'I'm on' list!

So a quick post to mark my place. Just a few comments:

Completely agree with babies being individual - my LO is still waking 2-3 times a night despite weaning and high calorie milk. In my nct group it varies from 0-5 times a night.

Cups - I tried a tommie tippee cup, LO wouldn't take it. However he's quite happy to drink his daily dose of prune juice in the morning out of a normal glass. Milk has to be out of a bottle though. I think he's already a fusspot!

Better go, just had a hectic week with property viewings (and arguments with DH!), illness and doctors appointments, think we're back to normal now... Confused

feralgirl · 28/02/2012 22:23

Ooh, any nice houses Queen? House shopping is the fun bit of moving imo (especially spying on the people who live in the places you're viewing Grin) I like the image of your very sophisticated DS drinking his breakfast juice from a glass too Grin

Who was it that asked about cups? I forgot to mention about doidy cups earlier; they're great as they don't tip so far. DS still drinks from his sometimes, I particularly like the one I got for him as it's purple and sparkly Smile

DD crawled all the way from the living room into the kitchen this evening, I think she was a bit put out that we were all in there and she was left by herself. She stopped once her knees hit the kitchen floor tiles though: too cold and hard I think! And she sat up without falling over for a good couple of minutes today as well.

100 I know what you mean about time flying. It's so weird how quickly it's gone. And that a lot of us have known each other for well over a year too. DD is getting so big and grown up, it makes me quite Sad in a daft kind of way.

sebs71 · 29/02/2012 13:50

100 - Yes, it's not fair to Chester - but that's a big distance for you for lunch? Just wondering when you were visiting your friend in Mold? But, if you are coming up to Chester then it would be lovely to meet up. And, I'm sure a sleep pattern will return to your LO soon, and glad she's over her illness.

QGRM - I agree with Feral - in fact, I'd love to be an Estate Agent - just to go around snooping in other people's homes! Good luck with your house search.

Feral - know what you mean about time going so fast - can't believe how big she is now. But loving this phase - every day they seem to do something new and loving weaning her. I've got a couple of friends with newborns, and I can't believe she was ever that small, let alone only a few months ago!

Well, back from the Doc's and LO is taking after her Daddy - eczema :( Lots of moisturising for her - but at least she gets lots of mini massages!

Can't believe it's 1st March tomorrow! And for the first time ever, we've actually got daffodils out in our garden for St David's Day!! Normally, we don't get them flowering until April (as it's so cold up here)! Think I'll head out for a hilly pram walk with the dog in a mo, it's so sunny!

cakeismysaviour · 29/02/2012 14:25

Hi! Hope everyone is ok today. :)

We have had a scan and everything seems well with baby. We have an EDD now and its (don't laugh) DS's first birthday - 6th September. It is quite funny I suppose, but I am really hoping I don't labour on my due date. Imagine if I missed DS's first birthday? :(

Anyway, I'm now going to kick myself for being stupid, I need to concentrate on the fact that the baby is healthy and that is all that matters.

ssmile · 29/02/2012 14:35

Wow many congrats cake hope the pregnancy continues to go well

feralgirl · 29/02/2012 14:45

Yay Cake! Wow, September's going to be an expensive month for you with both DC's birthdays! At least you might be able to get away with one massive joint party though... DS won't mind if you miss his first b'day, honestly I look at the photos from my DS's first birthday and he hasn't got a clue what's going on!

Sad for the eczema Sebs, hopefully she'll grow out of it.

QueenRunningGeekMum · 29/02/2012 15:10

Cake congrats on healthy baby! It'd be great to have the birthdays together - one party or trip covers them both and only one date to remember! Get them new school uniforms every year for their birthdays Wink

cakeismysaviour · 29/02/2012 15:14

Thanks everyone. I admit to being a bit over sensitive about birthdays, its a result of being a Christmas day baby myself!

sebs71 · 29/02/2012 16:28

Congrats on a healthy baby scan, Cake and just remember, only 5% of women actually give birth on their due date, so I'm sure there'll be a few days either side of your DS's birthday. If you're early, you'll have two in the same school year!

LO has just spent 15 minutes absolutely howling with laughter at her big DSD outside on the trampoline!!! It was hilarious... So now she's doing her own bouncing inside in her jumperoo!

Thanks feral - doctor said they usually grow out of it, and even OH said he grew out of his (until his mid-30's and I guess stress has brought it all back)

Such a gorgeous day - I really hope we get a good Spring and Summer this year and we can all enjoy being outdoors with our LOs! Except I hope it cools down around August in the region where Cakes lives!!!

Minkyjj · 29/02/2012 22:30

Brilliant news cake. Sebs - I find aqueous cream great in the bath.

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 01/03/2012 07:06

Cake - wow congrats!

Here is the banana cake dd and I made, very, very easy and the banana stayed all the way through.

I've splashed out and got ds one of these cups. Not tried it with anything in it but he likes sucking it do might try today.

Ds has fallen into waking at three times during the night and then gets up at 7am. I am dreading tomorrow night, going out and he won't take a bottle. If I go I just think I'm gonna end up getting a taxi back furious g tge performance Confused

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 01/03/2012 07:08

Don't know where furious came from, it was meant to be Confused

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 01/03/2012 07:08

No meant to during

ssmile · 01/03/2012 19:17

I've had one of these days:
"no mummy don't think you can put me in the chair whilst you do the washing up I will pull All the toys off the toy bar in 1min and hurl them on the floor for you to pick up again and again. No mummy you can't leave me on the playmat as I will wiggle around 360, and hit myself in the face with the rattle whilst you hang out the washing. No I will not have a nap because I'm tired I will wait until its 10mins to the school run then I will fall asleep sparko in my cot and scream when you insist on putting me in the buggy to run to school. Don't even think of trying to spoon feed me yogurt, give ME the spoon and I will hit myself in the eye with it and rub it all over your tshirt along with the humous you gave me earlier, and yes I will pooh all over my vest if I want too....."

I could go on but I'm too shattered so lying in bed ready for my first attempt at two hour sleep block. Had enough today.

Hope your days were better

QueenRunningGeekMum · 01/03/2012 19:57

Hugs and sympathy your way Ssmile, some days just seem to be like that don't they?

Think our offer on a house today is going to be rejected, because the other offer on it is a cash buyer and we've not put our house on the market yet. Sad C'est la vie, maybe another house will come our way soon.

I hardly got any sleep last night, not due to lo but worrying about houses! Need to switch my mind off!

jojo1983 · 01/03/2012 21:15

Hello ladies

Still no luck re a house to live in slowly giving up the will to live.

Hope everyone has a great night sleep babies and mothers

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 01/03/2012 21:36

Jojo I'm so sorry about you and dp. Yes you must cry and let it out. If it really is for tge best that is still no reason that you can't be upst about it.

My ds has a very similar pattern, 10pm, 2am, 5am and up at 7am. Of course it can be anything up to an hour either side as well.

Minkyjj · 01/03/2012 21:49

Jojo -sending you a really big hug -really hard but if you are meant to be together it will work out and if not I am sure it's better to move forward than be stuck in a bad situation - still doesn't make it easy for you and I hope you can reach out to friends and family for support at this time. Thinking of you x
Ssmile - I laughed my socks off at your post and so did my 9 year old dd - you are hilarious but so spot on the mark it was funny! Michael McIntyre does an amazing sketch on small kids and being a parent!
Well my lo was up on and off through the night and then wouldn't settle from 4am - gave him banana yesterday and it bunged him up big time, he was so constipated today - luckily he unblocked himself on dh - mwahahaha! Hope tonight is better !
Thinking of you all in your ups and downs and hope that more ups on their way Smile

100years · 01/03/2012 22:27

Gosh I don't get on the computer for 2 days and loads of posts appear. It's like this at the beginning of the week isn't it.

Geekmum, I love the idea of your LO having prune juice out of a cup! How cool, not cool that he needs it, but cool all the same. Hope the viewings go well.

feral, yep, my LO is getting 'big' now, although she's still only around the 14lb mark, but she's obviously twice as big as she was when born, and now feels a bit like a toddler, although she's not toddling yet if that makes sense, she's moving round so much and getting into mischief now!

sebs, thanks :) I'm a tad busy for the next week or two, but a day out would be ace and chester is a lovely place. sorry to hear about the eczema, one of my nieces had it bad when she was little, huge tubs of cream were always on the go. I think she still has it now, but it's not as severe, unless I just don't hear about it now.

Cake, that's fab news that all was well on the scan :) You aren't stupid at all, and like loads of people have said having birthdays together will be fun for them.

Loves, thanks for the recipe, I shall have a try of that next week. I just need to convert cups to grams.

Oh ssmile, I hope tomorrow is better for you. Some days just seem to be all against you.

jojo, hope LO is better soon, it's horrid for them. Sorry to hear about you and your OH splitting up. Must be a difficult situation to be in, being apart from someone when you are with them with a child, and big un-MN hug for you.

Well my LO has still not settled down into sleeping well at night. I'm very tired at the moment from it, last night I was in and out of the bedroom from 8 till we finally went to bed at 10:30 and she then woke at 11, 1 (till half past) 3:30 (till 4:15) 6:30 and 8ish. She seems to go down for a while then wake up and have a whinge, feed some more, then sleep, then wake then and so the story goes. I think I might have managed one 2 hour stretch of sleep last night, it's been like it a while now. But I know she has been ill.

And my nipples hurt again, I think the tie may have rejoined up a bit, in fact I mentioned it to the HV when I got her weighed 3 weeks ago, I can still see the white bit under her tongue and if I run my finger under her tongue it won't go from one side to the other without stopping because of that bit in the middle, and she still doesn't stick her tongue out at all, only when she's coughing and that's an involuntary thing, so I rang the doctor we saw (or rather his secretary) and I have arranged a review of it which is on Tuesday, although now she is very nearly 6 months it means we might need to have anything done to it with anaesthetic, which is a bit of a bummer. Will see what he says.

I'm also pre-menstrual and feeling it! Although it's just over 4 weeks since the last time the evil witch visited, so I've done a few HPT, which have been BFNs :( definitely feeling broody now, although LO is enough and it's not like I'm not happy enough with her, but I would like her to have a little brother or sister. Grin

Right that's enough from me right now, see you soon.

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 02/03/2012 10:03

Yes Michael McIntyre is very funny...
