Cake - huge congrats Grin, look forward to updates
Ssmile, hope you had good birthday
QueenGeek, my LO wakes 4-5 times a night too sometmes wants full feed others a snack so hard to know when to try to cuddle back to sleep and when to feed.
Feral, these things happen, don't beat yourself up about it.
100yrs, hope E is recovered, not much fun with a poorly baby and def makes the days feel long
Sorry can't remember the other replies I was going to write. It seems harder to find time to come on here now so always have about 18 posts to read and remember.
LO is doing well with teething, no 2 is coming through now but so far no screaming fits just very clingy and dribble but my neck now has baby teeth marks in it like I was attacked by a tiny vampire, hope he calms down as feeding is somewhat sore now but reluctant to give it up. Food is going down a treat but has been a bit constipated so will try diluted orange juice - apparently there is a fine line between easing the pain and giving them the squits. Off to feed the ducks now hope weather holds.

ssmile · 22/02/2012 14:37

Whoohoo our 4yr slept through the night first time in a week and babe only woke twice at 12.30 and 3am sleeeeeeppp is SO nice :)
Babe made us laugh so much last night she finally found her hands in the bath she splashed me from head to toe I was soaked water streaming down my face sleeves soaked then her sister tried to join in oh dear :o
On food front today she had her biggest lunch yet with avocardo on toast, Apple with baby rice and chewing rice cake. But she hasnt poohed for two days and her little tum is getting rather big. I can also see a tooth very close to the surface really hope it doesn't come through yet as it hurt BF! I'm trying with a sippy cup at each meal with water or formula but she spits out the formula and won't take a bottle. Our first DD was 7.5mths when she took milk properly from sippy cup so I'm really hoping this one will too as I'm getting too the point where I've had enough of relentless BF.
feralgirl hope your Lo elbow is ok, must have been horrid but I've heard its very common with toddlers
100 really hope your Lo is ok. Mine lost weight over Xmas when she was ill but within two weeks had regained again. Hope you don't get the bug too.
Sorry if missed anyone got to go as Lo sounds like she trying to pooh...

feralgirl · 22/02/2012 14:47

Grin at your tiny vampire candr!

Sad Jojo. Fingers Xed that it gets sorted asap. I am so Angry on your behalf that people refuse to rent to you, just because you're getting help from the council. That is just criminal. Seriously, just getting benefits doesn't make a person dodgy ffs. Landlords would do bloody well to remember that it doesn't take much to end up on the other side of the equation; a redundancy, a few missed payments, a repossession. And if there was enough council accommodation then this wouldn't be a problem anyway!

100years · 22/02/2012 19:44

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I'm so flipping tired. E fed loads in the night, I thought ah great, she's getting her appetite back and so is getting better. Then she went and exploded out of her bottom all over her clothes and the rug she was on, then went and did it again an hour later. Thankfully it's not happened since then, let's hope it's on it's way out. She's in whinge bag mode now though again. So it looks like I'll be settling down in the bedroom to put her to sleep. bjuv;be;fbweoi That's what happens when your head hits the keyboard Wink

Minkyjj · 22/02/2012 23:30

Hello ladies, just before I begin the very long night shift of baby insomnia and wakings every 1.5 hours I thought I would wish you all well for the small hours Wink

sarahseager · 23/02/2012 01:47

Hello everyone from the middle of the night. Lo's sleeping is getting worse as the days go by, have been up since 11.30 trying to get her to resettle but no joy, she'll only sleep on me! It's so hard when you feel like everything that you try fails Sad

Hope you're all having better nights xx

ssmile · 23/02/2012 08:08

minkyj 100 sarah I really hope you were able to get bit more rest last night.

My Lo sleep pattern has changed the last week with more wake ups start of night but she been giving me a 3-4hr stretch in last part of the night 3-6.30amish which has been godsend. I am having some discomfort feeding her the last 36hrs its not painful just uncomfy like she is biting the nipple whilst sucking. I keep checking for teeth as she had lots dribble rash on her chin so who knows may be just confusing me with solid food.

Right must get ready got school run x

feralgirl · 24/02/2012 09:09

Agh, first tooth made an unwelcome appearance this morning so I have been up since 5am Sad Managed to get DD back to sleep and I got up to have some breakfast then I was just about to go back to bed when DS woke DD up.

I've got this stupid job application to finish off and it's due in at 12pm today and I just feel so very very tired.

I hope all you other sleep-zombies got a bit more than I did last night.

candr · 24/02/2012 18:01

Good luck with job Feral.
We now have 2 teeth and after one really good night of only waking at 3 and 6 he then barely slept last night and was wet through again. Think is tummy is bothering him as he has not pooed for 3 days now and is teething quite fast. Am just relieved to not have the hours of screaming some people suffer with. Am going to try brushing them very gently tonight and now have 3 hickeys on my neck from bites and he drew blood on my finger - hope he learns how to deal with them soon Grin.
Have a lovely weekend all

cakeismysaviour · 24/02/2012 18:46

I can sympathise with my fellow sleep zombies! DS doesn't do sleeping for more than 3 hours in one go :( and I suffer from insomnia - not a happy combination. We have no teeth here yet though, so I still have the joys of that to come...

Good luck with the job application, feral!

100years · 24/02/2012 19:19

I think we are out the other side :) We are in real nappies again today! Yay. Fingers crossed. She does seem almost right in herself now, if a little tired. But I'm tired from it all, and had a sense of humour failure the other day and had a bit of a cry Wednesday after I had written that message! I went through with her, and got myself ready for bed as I was putting her down, it was 3 hours later that I managed to get to sleep as she didn't settle! Ah well. It's been a hard week, but we've got there.

Aaaw, feral, first tooth :( Hope all is OK now.

Yep, we too haven't had more than 3 hours sleep in a stretch for a LONG time! Never mind, I think I'm kind of used to it :)

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 24/02/2012 19:30

Well I've spent half tge day at hospital with dd and she does not have tge allergy we thought yay. Down side was we left hospital less than an hour before I was due for tge first round of interviewing for a job. I just made it with a couple of mins to spare needless to say don't feel as hopeful as I should.

Anywho wishing you all a weekend full of sleep and without snot!

feralgirl · 24/02/2012 19:41

Gah, haven't managed any more sleep today. DD been grizzly and out of sorts all day so I'm expecting some more teeth in the near future.

Cake, it is so frustrating when you're wide awake and the DC is fast asleep isn't it? I frequently don't get to sleep until after DD's first feed of the night at 12.30ish, I think maybe I need that big hit of oxytocin from the BF to make me drop off!

100, so glad that DD is better now Smile

And Loves that's great about the allergy. All the very best of luck with the job, when will you find out?

100years · 24/02/2012 19:56

Loves, great news about the allergy, glad you made the interview and fingers crossed for the interview.

Thanks Feral :)

cakeismysaviour · 24/02/2012 20:46

100years - So pleased to hear that DD is feeling better now. Also, pleased that DS isn't the only frequent waker - most of my friends tell me that by this age things had started to improve on the sleeping front....

Loves - Good news re the allergy, and I have found that it tends to be the interviews that I think I flunked, that end up being the ones that result in a job offer. Grin

Feral - I don't even try to sleep until after DS's first night feed and usually just lurk on Mumsnet until then, sometimes afterwards as well if I really can't sleep. It IS so frustrating though, it takes me so long to fall asleep that sometimes he wakes up again just as I have begun sleeping. :( I have adapted though, and I do often get a nap in the day.

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 24/02/2012 22:28

Thanks all, cake I hope so..........

Promise I will catch up with everything later/tomorrow

feralgirl · 25/02/2012 12:12

Unnnnhhhhhh.

That is how my head feels today. Prepare for a very self-centred whingey post as I list my woes:

  1. Last night DD was awake from 11pm - 12am, then again from 4am - 6am, then 6.30 - 7.30 then up at 9.30. She managed to get through five nappies and be sick absolutely everywhere, all over the clean sheets on both her and my bed. I had a massive meltdown at about 5.30am. I am seriously considering packing in the BFing as I am bloody sick of dealing with DD by myself while DH sleeps in the spare room.
  1. At 6am I went downstairs as I was hungry and my rayburn had had a big soot explosion ALL over my kitchen (including on two loads of clean laundry). Told DH who said he'd deal with it then when I went down again this morning he had just given the table a half-arsed wipe where DS had to eat his breakfast. It has taken me over an hour to clean up properly. Angry
  1. My oven is broken.
  1. My cats have got fleas and worms as I have forgotten to give them pills etc. DS has got flea bites all over his back because the sodding cat keeps sleeping on his bed as he can't close his bedroom door on his own Sad and
  1. My house is a shit-hole.
  1. I am way too knackered to go for a run today.
  1. My next door neighbour is hammering the crap out of his house so hard that it is reverberating all the way through mine.
  1. We are beyond skint.
  1. I've applied for a job that I'm not sure I really want, I definitely don't want to go for an interview and have to plan to teach an interview lesson. I'm considering pulling out if I get called.
  1. There are bits literally falling off my car but I can't afford to have it fixed.

And I'm done. That was actually quite cathartic and I feel a little bit better as a result. How are all of you today?!

ssmile · 25/02/2012 14:11

Oh dear hope the sun shines today or babe gives you a giggle feralgirl to make it seem alittle better. Sleep is a wonderful healer when you can get it :)

Lo here a bit better but still coughing, DD1 very green &snotty again and my cold has boomeranged again this week with sore throat &lots green snot. But if we were all well, full of sleep and happy what would we talk about on mumsnet :o

Will be on my own M-W again next week with DH away so praying DD1 gets back to better sleep as she has been waking up when babes been settled and DH been settling her, it could be a rocky sleepless ride next week going solo.

Hope your all having good weekends with 10hour naps :o

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 26/02/2012 15:59

Feral - get out and about today to cheer yourself you, a walk should make you feel a little better.

Made banana cake with dd and she said yuck after the first bite, guess after not having banana for over two years it's a strange taste.

Just gave ds a little baby rice for tge first time. That's it there's no going back now. Also hand expressed for tge first time, surprised how easy it was.

sebs71 · 26/02/2012 18:44

Hi All... sorry not been on for a few days... so loads to catch up on, and not much time as dinner nearly done! But, firstly, Feral - hope the better weather today managed to cheer you up and glad writing things all down is cathartic. It must be a really tough decision to make about your promotion at work - it's a difficult time with a LO but then more money... don't envy you your choice but hope you are happy with whichever route you choose. Personally, I can't think about work yet, so I can see what you mean about having to plan an interview lesson... yikes!

Loves - yep! No going back now... I'm having a great deal of fun with my LO's weaning - she seems to love everything - even had success with carrot the second time around (a little milk seems to do the trick!)

100 - so glad LO is better - any news on a trip to Mold?!?

Ssmile - :( to your boomerang cold. And, good luck on your own this week. My OH has another trip in the middle of March... but I'm thinking of using it as an opportunity to visit my brother and SIL in Bristol for a few days as DSD and DSS will go to their Mum's probably.

Well, I'm not sure whether to say this in view of the wakeful nights you are having... but last week I managed to get all 5 feeds between 6am and 8pm which meant she didn't need a bottle in the middle of the night. She started to sleep through but with major help from us - so we got no sleep! However, it seemed to be down to hitting the sides of the crib. So on Friday we thought we'd give her own room a go - I've been dreading it, but I have to say it does feel about right now. And... she slept from 8pm till 5am! We had to retrieve dummy about 3 times but she managed to stay asleep. And it was repeated last night... so hoping this is a new phase. It was very strange having our room back, and felt guilty but as she got a good sleep and we did too I think it must be for the best. She's 23 weeks, so not far off 6 months and that's when I thought we'd do it.

I know it must be easier as she's bottle fed, so I really take my hat off to your wonderful mums BFing. Probably jinxed it now.. but fingers crossed.

Also, god, the Sun out makes such a difference... feels like April!

Hope you all had good weekends...

feralgirl · 26/02/2012 22:24

Thanks all, the sun really did make a difference yesterday and I dragged myself out for a run and felt a million times better as a result.

Sebs well done you and DD, that is really good news that you're getting proper sleeps now. I am so pleased for you. It is such a massive breakthrough when it happens!

Ssmile Sad for the colds. DD and DS are both full of snot too which is totally gross. DD keeps sneezing on me and is snoring her little head off which is a right PITA!

Loves yum to banana cake (my fave I think). Can't believe DD wasn't keen!

I am so tempted to put DD in her own room but I have a horrible feeling that if I do then I'll be spending half the night out of my bed and in the chair next to her cot. I can't decide whether she would sleep better without me next to her or not Confused

Last night was a bit better but it seems that we are entering the realm of early waking as DD was up ready to face the world at 6am this morning Shock which was a pretty grim but she'd only woken twice during the night for a 10 min feed each time so I was just tired this morning, rather than exhausted.

I was still grumpy enough to properly snap at DS when he spent the first 30 mins of the morning yelling at the top of his voice though and, dear god, I felt guilty as hell about it afterwards. Sad I really must learn to try to have minimal interaction with anyone until after I've had my coffee!

ssmile · 27/02/2012 10:38

sebs well done you I'm Envy we don't have a separate room for babe she will have to share with her sister for next couple years. I think she would sleep better too with out me snoring next to her :o I've had a cold it feels like since Xmas and it really bungs my sinuses!
And her big sis keeps getting up at mo :(

feralgirl glad the run and sunshine helped. Exercise always perks me up no matter how crap I feel if I can make myself do it.

Really feel like we have been in change period with babe I'm finding it harder to read her signals as she getting more vocal and her personality is coming out. The BF has settled into more of a 3hourly feeds day &night in a 24hrs period but she gets very grumpy wanting more at breakfast, lunch, dinner times. She not eating big quantities as she very much wants to feed herself so I've taken to putting various things smeared on rice cakes, breadsticks and toast which she sucks :) this morning she grabbed the spoon with weetabix on to self feed. Gd bye cleanish kitchen :o I've not had much success with veg yet only mash potato made it past madams lips and a baby sweetcorn she sucked abit.

How is everyone else doing?

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 27/02/2012 11:30

Fab debs - dd defo spelt better in her own room unfortunately we only have two bedrooms do ds is stuck with us till at least he is sleeping through. We will be having a peppa and George set up for a while.

Feral - I can bring you some cake it would not be at all an excuse to go to Cornwall Grin

sebs71 · 27/02/2012 16:30

Feral - glad sun and run (he he) helped and you felt better, and Grin at needing coffee - know how that feels!

Ssmile - I'm looking forward to getting onto other foods in a couple of weeks with LO... She's loving her food so far (veg and fruit) so wonder what else she'll love... in fact, she's getting bored of her milk now!

Well, didn't go as well last night - knew I'd jinxed it! But we were out all day so her feeds were later... and meant she didn't go to bed till 9.30ish - very late for her, so she had a restless night. Wanted feeding at 3am and ended up in bed with us after that! Oh well... we'll keep on with her in her room though (and she did manage till then, with a few dummy retrieval trips) as she definitely is too big for the crib. I've managed to get her feeds back on track today (which means I'd best go as next one due now!!)

Hope you all having a good day... Where's the sunshine gone?

candr · 27/02/2012 17:17

Feral, that sounds like a lot to deal with - poor you. Well done to those with LO sleeping in own room. I keep saying I am waiting for DS to be able to roll over but half of it is he wakes so much I dread getting out of bed each time as I get so little sleep anyway. Has been a lot harder with DH working 10 days in a row as well (he does not get in till very late and leaves silly am) Made me realise how much harder it must be for single parents and he is really missing spending time with DS (and me).
On the bright side feeding going well although he bit of a huge chunk of banana and had a panicked look on his face when he realsied he couldn't chew it but spat it out and squished it up into smaller bits.
Can anyone reccomend a good beaker for 5m old as he tries to hold bottle but it is slippery from food on it and it needs to have soft teat as hard ones seem to hurt his teeth?
