Rubysmum i love Southend Especially when its airshow weekend :)

fransmom · 25/03/2006 17:36

haven't been to southend for years - has it changed a lot?

dd tried to take firsy step today! Smile she also said "out" when she wanted to get out of her pushchair.
she also had her first bad fall today Sad

fransmom · 25/03/2006 17:36

Blush i meant first

RubysmumX · 26/03/2006 11:00

Haven't been there since the fire on the pier, so not sure whether they have closed it or not, but it's not a bad place to shopping now. Took DD there last Summer on one of the hottest sunniest days and just fretted the whole time about her getting burnt!

We also have the beginnings of step taking, knew something was up when DD lasted from 10am till 8.30 pm without napping the whole day (this is normally followed by some developmental stage) and ended the day taking a few assisted steps.

leggymamba · 26/03/2006 20:39

Hello everyone - we're in the midlands, so no sea anywhere near us. I've been to weston-super-mud but never been to southend or brighton, not really done the south east at all, got as far as London and that's enough!

I'm really really tired - Patrick woke up at 3am and only went back to sleep for 40 minutes before dd woke up at 6.30. Was very releived that clocks had gone back and could get everyone to bed and hour earlier tonight (as also nice to disciver that the whole family was up and dressed for 7.30 am rather and 6.30!). I'm praying that teeth will appear soon as don't think could cope with many more broken nights after thinking I'd craked it. Seem to have less sleep now than when he was born

fransmom · 26/03/2006 20:44

i used to live in west midlands!

fransmom · 26/03/2006 22:21

she took three steps on her own today!!!!!!!!! Grin

aprilmeadow · 26/03/2006 23:04

I know its late in the day but Happy Mothers Day to you all!

Fransmom - thats brilliant, well done to your dd

Darciesmum · 27/03/2006 07:59

Fransmom thats great!

Darcie took a couple of steps on her own yesterday from the sofa to the coffee table.

So getting there.
I'm counting down now, Thursday darcie will be one!
What would you guys put in party bags for the kids?

RubysmumX · 27/03/2006 09:22

Hi Fransmom, well done to your DD. Exciting, soon you'll be buying those first pair of shoes!

Hi Darciesmum, in a party bag we were given recently there was a little toy car which DD loves pushing around.

Darciesmum · 27/03/2006 09:48

Hi

I've got bubbles, so far for party bags.

I could put cars in any other suggestions?

leggymamba · 27/03/2006 11:22

How about some sun flower seeds to plant or some cheap books \link{http://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PaperCatalogView?catalogId=10051&paperCatalogId=16202&storeId=10001&productId=23053&langId=100&pageNumber=4\these are 8 books for £5} or \link{http://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PaperCatalogView?catalogId=10051&paperCatalogId=16201&storeId=10001&productId=22022&langId=100&pageNumber=5\these are 10 for £10} you can never have too many books and they grow with babies. My dd still loves those hooter things that you blow and they roll out (be prepared for a noisy party though!)

Feeling bad as wasn't going to do anything at all for ds - I'll through a party when he goes a whole week without waking up in the night! Still no sign of more teeth and still waking up!

MadameMerlin · 27/03/2006 21:09

Can I just wish all the babies on this thread a very happy 1st birthday - just cannot believe that a whole 12 months has nearly gone by. Hope you all have a fantastic day!

MadameMerlin · 27/03/2006 21:10

oops - sorry I changed my name a bit! BTW - do they magically start sleeping through when they turn 1?

fransmom · 27/03/2006 22:35

thank you from my dd!
great idea about car in party bag rubysmum. we just having small tea party for family and a couple of other people, my friend has a little boy and i was stuck for ideas in putting stuff in a party bag for him so thanks rubysmum! bubbles seems good idea 2 darciesmum.

all our babies nearly 1!

RubysmumX · 28/03/2006 10:54

We did attend another one whereby instead of a party bag to take home there was a big box full of party things like mini water pistols, mini frizbees, whistles with streamers (although, some babies seemed fine just shaking these whislt others wanted to eat them) but I do think they all enjoyed diving in.

Mini portions of jelly went down a treat too - also went all over the floor, but they had fun!

xoz · 28/03/2006 12:37

Hi everyone. It's so nice to hear how all your LO's are doing. I haven't been on to mumsnet for nearly a year now. (you've no doubt all forgotten me) I think my last post was my DS's birth announcement! He is doing great, has started walking this last week and finally changed from 2 sleeps to 1 in the daytime which means he's now sleeping until 7 am not 5:30 anymore!!! BLISS... my 2 DD's dote on him and we're expecting another baby in September (which was a new year surprise), but we're very happy now we've all adjusted to the idea. DS still only has 2 teeth, and I have no idea what we're going to do for his birthday.... that's a whole months away. Isaac was born on the 29th

Verso · 28/03/2006 13:48

Sorry I've not posted in ages. I've been having a lot of domestic problems :( and it's not been very nice. DH and I are booked in to Relate on Thursday so I'm hoping that will help (not least because it's extortionately expensive so I don't think we'll be able to afford more than one session).

DD is doing really well and is a total joy, though, so that helps. Keep getting flashbacks of the (horrible) birth last year though, so am trying to concentrate on her birthday instead but it's difficult. Sorry to be a downer on such a positive thread, but things haven't been easy and I thought I'd pop in and say hello anyway...

leggymamba · 28/03/2006 15:44

Verso - sorry to hear things aren't going well, sounds like you've had a really rough year - I think one of the biggest changes that happens when you have a baby is that you don't have a chance to just sit and talk with your dp like you used to. I knew we go for weeks without really finding out what's happening in the other one's life. Hope relate works for you.

After 3 years with out a social life I've finally found a baby sitter - our version of relate is going to the pub. It's funny feeling like a proper grown up again!

Darciesmum · 28/03/2006 21:28

Verso sorry to hear your having problems, hope all gets better soon.

I've sorted out Darcies party etc, but still haven't got her a pressie, but the dilemma is what do you get the one yr old who has got everything?

fransmom · 28/03/2006 22:02

hi verso, i wondered how/where you were. don't worry about being down on this thread, we all here for each other, which ever thread it is X
darciesmum, does she like fish? perhaps you could take her to a sea life centre?

fransmom · 28/03/2006 22:17

good luck for thursday, will be thinking of you x (((((hugs)))))

aprilmeadow · 29/03/2006 17:25

xoz - congrats on the pg. Wow thats 2 from our thread that are expecting again.

Verso - hope things work out for you, it must be a very tough time for you.

DM - I hope you have a lovely day with Darcie tomorrow celebrating the big 1!!
