Well here it is our brand new thread

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Darciesmum · 24/05/2006 11:08

I actually slept for most of my labour, without drugs! MW said would of been shorter if i'd walked around more, i walked round the house for the first 5hrs!! my legs were aching for a rest lol!!!!

Do you know what you want this time round!

aprilmeadow · 24/05/2006 14:36

Good afternoon ladies,

Welcome & congratulations Happybebe. I am not sure i would be ready to have another baby right now, Jack is such a handful i dont think i would be able to cope. Although if i could be guaranteed that i would have a similar labour 2nd time round (i didnt have any drugs - and it was ok), and that this one would be a good sleeper then i could have my arm twisted!

Jack is doing really well with his walking, he seems to fly past! He even got a smiley sticker from nursery!

My tan has faded much to my disappointment!

We are hoping to be moving house fairly soon - we have an offer on ours but cant seem to find one that we like.

hello everyone! i'm not sure about having another one yet either, not sure if it's because i know exactly what i'm letting myself in for, or because of the birth side of things lol

hi hb, love name of summer and congrats on new pg. i'm sure you will be fine x

RubysmumX · 24/05/2006 19:52

Hi All, promised myself that I wouldn't consider having another until I'd had at least a full years' worth of unbroken sleep and so far we've had a few nights!, but saying that it's funny how you start to change your mind once they start walking, like you say HB, it does kind of make them grow up quickly and seem less like babies.

fransmom · 24/05/2006 20:03

rubysmum, at the moment i would love a months woth of unbroken sleep, let alone a whole year - what a luxury that would be!!! but yes, i do understnad, my friend in rl has a week old newbie, so sweet and tiny compared with my dd! i couldn't think of having another at mo cos of pnd etc, bit worried about it happening again tbh.

hb, when is dd2 due? are there books for toddlers that may help? hth

leggymamba · 25/05/2006 15:15

Hello,

Not been on for a while as now back at work and never seem to have any time to myself at all - don't tend to eat tea until 9.30 and then straight to bed! Strugling to stay awake to see big brother (brings back loads of memories of watching it through the night last year!).

Bebe - your dd will just take the new baby in her stride - my dd was a bit shocked when I brought ds home but he had a noddy balloon tied to him (from the hospital florist on the way out) - once he had given her that he was allowed to stay. She's turned into a right minimummy now and wouldn't let anything happen to her brother at all. The first 12 weeks for me were hell (new born and toddlers are a tiring mix) - I spent most of it wondering what the hell I'd done but am really glad now that I had them pretty close together as they play really nicely together.

Saying that I can't beleive how naughty ds is - mainly egged on by his sister - his new game is flushing stuff down the loo - so far lost 2 toothbrushes, a fire engine and a tv remote! If I say no - he completely blanks me and carries on - when I pick him up he has a complete hissy fit and tries to hit me. I only got this when dd was about 2 - not looking forward to terrible 2s with ds!

aprilmeadow · 25/05/2006 16:38

Hi Leggy, good to hear from you. I know what you mean about BB bringing back memories. DH and i relied on that heavily for the first few months of Jack's life and when it ended we really didnt know what to do! Sorry, but i had to chuckle at the lost items down the toilet! Jack is also stong willed, although he only seems to post things through the catflap at the moment.

OP posts:
Darciesmum · 25/05/2006 21:11

Hi Leggy nice to hear from you

Darcie hasn't got to the stage of flushing things down the loo, shes not allowed upstairs.
Shes finally cut the one tooth just waiting for the other one now!

fransmom · 26/05/2006 10:40

hi leggy noce to hear you again. i can't laugh too loudly at the flushed items as we are tenants in a flat at moment and they haven't fixed the bathroom door - hence a little visitor when you're trying to go to the loo, and ooh sounds when - well you know when! Grin perhaps you could get a toilet lock if there's one available that would fit your loo, think they come under safety products.

francesca's quite a strong willed girlie too, not entirely sure about the terrible 2s ...lol. am trying to head them off at the pass! Grin

dm, am glad that the tooth has finally come thru for darcie, it can make them a good bit miserable when they cut their teeth. all go now!

hope everyone else's little ones are ok. fm x

happybebe · 26/05/2006 17:51

hi everyone, sorry i havent been on for a while!

lets just say this new baby came as a suprise! thankfully summer has always been an angel sleeping through the night from 12 weeks unless she is ill, self feeding with her spoon now etc, all these things have helped me get used to the idea of having another baby. if summer wasnt doing as well as she is i would be a lot more worried!

this time round i know how i would like my labour to go and feel much more confident about putting my views across to midwives! hoping for a water birth, last time i had to get out right near the end, as summer was distressed. this time i am hoping to actually give birth in water with gas and air!

thankfully i have my Mother in law living with us so she will be on hand to offer some help! my due date is the 28 june so only 5 weeks left to go!

summer is quite mischievious these days, but i am very firm with her sometimes probably a little too firm but i found it really helps he rto learn if she has consistent strict boundaries. for example she is allowed to pull out all her toys and explore them etc, but once she is finished she has to tidy them away. i do this with her but encourage her to do the majority. she is really good to be honest and i am very lucky to have had such a star for my first baby!

:)

toytownmum · 03/06/2006 21:56

Hi Smile
I'm new to mn but ds2 was born Apr 05, so thought this thread was a good place to start, hope you don't all mind????

aprilmeadow · 04/06/2006 10:15

Welcome toytownmum :)What date was your ds2 born on? My DS Jack was 24/04.

Gosh it has been quiet on here recently! Hope everyone is doing well. Jack has just got tooth no.7 and no.8 is on its way as well. Will be weird for his to have an even smile, although i will miss the cute little 4teeth/2 teeth smile.

Jack is into everything, there is no stopping him now that he has definately found his feet! HE is sooo cheeky and has got a few more words.

We have just bought a new house - woohoo - and we are able to sort all the paper work out on Wednesday - fingers crossed. It is a little bigger than we have now. 3 bed (currently in a 2bed) and ensuite to our room plus a garage. This will mean that dh wont have to have his officew in our bedroom anymore!!

I hope that you are all enjoying the nice weather and that those of you who have older children ahve had a good half term.

hi toytownmum, course we don't mind - the more the merrier! was going to ask really silly question then - how old's your ds2?!!!!!!!! Blush

it has gone a bit quiet on here. i was beginning to think that the thread had closed! i know what you mean about cheekiness am! frans is finally getting her own back on the tickling thing, if either me or her dad have slippers or bare feet, she will come along, quite innocently, then bend and tickle our feet whilke saying tickle tickle tickle! Grin also a few more new words, hiya, dress (well, sort of!) kiss/no kiss - i can't remember now! she has started this morning blowing proper kisses, not just screwing-up-her- mouth-and-making-a-smacking-noise-with-her-mouth-type-kiss. it was really sweet a lovely thing to see/for her to do unprompted.
i think i'd better go, she has awoken and needs feeding! ttfn x

Darciesmum · 04/06/2006 14:34

Hello everyone,

OMG how hot is it!?

Jack is doing really well, we now have 8 teeth and he is very confident with his walking. He has a very nasty bump on his head after climbing into a buggy at nursery whilst holding a toy rake and then falling as the buggy lost its balance! DH is v.annoyed as he wants to know why they a) let him climb into buggy and b) why no one was watching him! and c) why it took 5-6hrs for them to call me to say he had hurt himself. Poor little thing looks like he has a purple/green egg growing above his right eye!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun - and not melting too badly!

Hello! Not been here in aaaaages. How is everyone doing? DD is doing fine - almost walking but not quite - still holds on to hands/furniture etc. Keep finding myself VERY glad it's not this time last year... really enjoying this year in comparison, which is quite sad, as last year should have been so good, but with all the complications and everything...

blah blah blah! Sorry! Hope everyone is well.

Verso · 10/06/2006 21:46

P.S. Great Björk impression, fransmon Grin!

Evening all,

ds2 is growing up more by the day (where has my baby gone?) He is now walking confidently and has 12 teeth - ds1 only had 6 at this age!!!
He is wanting to feed himself at every meal time now - why do they grow up so quickly.
OR IS THIS ME FEELING VERY BROODY?!?!

Hope everyone is well

TTM xx
