milward _ i express in the am whilst feeding the other side and it's v easy. Otherise it can take a while for let down and usually seems to happen when distracted. Also found nipple stimulation can help with let down

Hello all, Quick Q before I finally go to bed, has anyone's hair fallen out BIG time since their baby as born? I know it's meant to, but mine is getting beyond a joke now! When will it end??!

Simplyred · 21/01/2006 09:18

threelittlebabies - yes my hair is coming out - however I've got such a mass of hair - You wouldn't notice. I think its a shock as I do not remember losing any whilst pregnant.

milward · 21/01/2006 09:27

Thanks for the expressing tips. I'll get a breastpump next week - tried yesterday but there were only the hand versions & as I'll express (hopefully) whilst bf I don't think I'd manage to pump & hold ds who is nearly 8kilos!

My hair is falling out loads - with dd3 the amount worried me but then it suddenly seemed to stop. Wish it was the grey hairs that came out!!

Hi everyone, sorry not posted in a while... welcome to the newbies...just wondering... I have started giving Elise some baby rice in the mornings, as she was starting to feed more often + be more unsettled afterwards, plus GP was very insistent I started weaning NOW! ... but she's not that bothered about it. She'll open her mouth for the spoon, but then when it's in her mouth she cries cos she doesn't know what to do with it!! Do you think I should carry on, or wait a little bit longer? she's 18 weeks by the way.

LadyLazarus · 21/01/2006 13:30

PS my hair is coming out LOADS as well... hav eto hoove rthe rug in the lounge really often as it gets hairy with my dropped-out-hair!!!

LadyLazarus · 21/01/2006 15:27

Hmm maybe she is having more rice that I thought, as she just went 5hrs in between having a feed + baby rice + the next feed!

Simplyred · 21/01/2006 15:54

Hello!

LadyL - lovely to hear from you - good luck with the baby rice - as I rememeber it takes a while for babys to get used to the idea of food, but when they get it they like it!

Just took ds to a party, where I met my friend who has a daughter 5 weeks older than Rachel - Rachel is longer and larger and weighs more! I'm growing a monster! and my friend and her dh are much taller than me and dh! I'm really surprized as ds was always such a neat little boy and Rachels a bruiser! Having said that Rachel is in 3-6 month clothes as she should be at 18 weeks and is going along her growth line nicely!

Another of my friends had her 5 year old in hospital this week with Sallomellia (spelling?) he was very poorly - thankfully he is all fine now - so cook your eggs very well!

PS Lost loads of hair whilst washing it earlier

lexiemum · 21/01/2006 16:33

we've had a milestone momentous day today

dd1 has used the potty for the first time, wearing pants and not complaining - only one accident since waking!

dd2 bottom two teeth are visable under gum - been out for detinox and calpol in prep for a long night!

oh, and me too for losing loads of hair - dd1 keeps thinking its spider webs in the plug hole and refuses to get in.

Simplyred · 21/01/2006 18:09

lexiemum - a memorable day indeed!

lexiemum · 21/01/2006 22:46

made it through day without anymore accidents, even number 2's in potty - was dead impressed with her - hope she'll keep it up tomorrow as having to visit the family and got an hours drive.

Simplyred · 22/01/2006 09:45

Morning!

Going to parents later - to speak to my nans about family past for the family tree - we are also going to have a slide show - pictures of me and db etc 1967-1983 - as ds is doing growing up at school - and want to see if Rachel looks anything like I did as a baby and they are all on slide rather than photo - as I'm incredibly old!

Very excited as dh (he has a cousin doing most of the work) has found a relative from 1611 - how cool is that! I'm back as far as the 1880's!
Found an amazing photo of my grandad's parents on their wedding day (turn of century)- was spoky how much ds looks like him - well minus the moustache!

Have a good day xxxx

Cabe · 22/01/2006 14:55

Hi VeniVidiVickiQV has just managed to post a pic of Conrad in Member Profiles for me here hope the link works

Simplyred · 22/01/2006 15:06

Conrads - a darling little man xxxx

How did you post picture????

Cabe · 22/01/2006 17:45

Hi SR I started a thread saying I couldn't post a picture and VVV said she'd post it for me if I sent it to her via hotmail... my paint programme converts the picture from jpeg to bitmap and I don't know how to get past this so VVV did it for me

Mummyhill - so sorry about Friday. There was absolutely nothing I could do to avoid letting you down at the last minute. I was so disappointed and this is partly what made me so angry with the foolish woman in the building society. I'd love to arrange another day with you... you mentioned Feb 17th - shall we pencil it in honey?

milward · 22/01/2006 19:42

Cabe - What a sweetheart!!

Cabe Awwww ~ Conrad is a little sweetie.

Question for you....? How do you wash your cloth nappies? I don't like soaking them and need to know if there's something I can put in the pre-wash which will help get stains out. We wash them on 60 degrees.

With dd1 we did a cold pre-wash and washed them on 95 degrees but have since realised that's not so good environmentally. Thanks.

Cabe · 22/01/2006 21:32

I tend to soak mine Beatie... the Perfectly Happy People soak is the most environmentally friendly one I could find here and I get that from Mothercare. Is it because of the chemicals or the damage soaking may do to the cloth? I'll have a look for pre-wash powders when I'm next in town x

mummyhill · 22/01/2006 22:05

17th sounds great will phone you durring the week cabe.

beatie · 23/01/2006 07:52

Cabe ~ I don't like soaking them because the bucket is kept in the bedroom and I worry about soliiages (especially with DD! around!)

PiccadillyCircus · 23/01/2006 09:01

Alice says that Conrad looks very sweet (and so do I )

Monday morning moans here I come .

I have heartburn - ow. Nevery had it during pregnancy but have had it twice since Alice was born. Not sure what has brought it on but I am wondering whether it was pineapple that I ate yesterday.

I have an eye infection - I think it might be a stye. Whatever it is, it is not nice. I am bathing it with salt water.

Alice left her rabbit at DS's friend's house on Friday. I hadn't realised she was attached to it but I think she is (she likes rubbing its ears). She is makign do at the moment with one of her vests .

Managed to drop DS off at nursery today without lots of crying, which does make me feel a bit better. Also noticed that his friends being dropped off were also looking quite clingy - maybe it's a 2 year old thing. He didn't take his bear (Boris) in with him today - I couldn't decide whether to sneak him in or not. I didn't - hopefully he won't notice (although this is unlikely).

Can I go back to sleep yet I wonder? Alice "only" woke up at 1:30 and 6:30 but I am just so tired all the time (went to bed at 9:30 last night).

Simplyred · 23/01/2006 11:11

Morning

Had lie in this morning and feel worse for it!

Sorry to hear about the heartburn pc - had it badly durring pregnanacy - I find styes go down if rubbed gently - old wives tale is to use a ring - I've used the nub/head of a steralized pin before!.

beatie · 23/01/2006 12:12

soliiages = spillages

HeyBaby · 23/01/2006 13:46

Dear All - hairloss. Who would have known?!! I think I could make a wig out of mine - might as well make a bit of cash from it all . I just run my fingers through mine and I'm surprised there is any left on my head! Makes me wonder whether it was like this pre-pregnancy and I have just forgotten - my DH assures me it was always like this ....

HeyBaby · 23/01/2006 13:47

BTW - Cabe - your DS is gorgeous!
