Hi,
Thought I would start us a postnatal thread. Were still in hospital, here till Tuesday monitoring dd (now named Eva) and giving her the anti biotics. Im missing dd1 loads as I only get to see her at visiting and trying to contain a toddler on the ward is tough.

OP posts:

winter - i have already had my depo injection but will propably get an implant at my next appointment.

DS is 3 months old today and to celebrate, I managed to take some particularly gorgeous photos of him with DD this morning which I have uploaded onto my profile for you to peek at.

neverlookback · 27/10/2011 21:02

hi everyone, time is flying by and our babies are growing up so fast!
sarge ive got a bugaboo chamelion and i love it, its so nice to push so well done, and they hold thier money to.

Ive gone on the mini pill, previously ive had the copper coil which was fine but i get really bad pmt and hormone headaches so i was looking for something that would stop me ovulating/having periods hoping to stop this. ive been taking it a week and have had no migraines so its looking good, but i have been having heart palpitations irregulary over the last year, the doc said they can be caused by hormones and i have to go for a blood test and ecg next week but ive been having mild ones every 10 mins for the last 2 days and im wondering if this is a side effect of the pill?? hope it calms down, think ill go back or ring tomorrow if they carry on. Other than that i was going to have the mirena coil as that can stop you ovulating too?

Ive got to say im am quite broody which is just crazy, Willow is my 3rd, dd1 is 6 ds is almost 3 so thier quite close, but i cant help thinking i dont want this to be the end of my child bearing days!! and to my absoloute horror and surprise Dp says he would too!!! but i dont think we will, im sure once willow is tearing around, not going to bed and driving us mad we will change our mind!!

neverlookback · 27/10/2011 21:04

oh yes hersetta he is gorgeous, they both have the same lovely little button noses, so cute x

Eviepoo · 27/10/2011 22:22

Lovely pictures Hersetta :)

I just posted a few more of Grace too

OOh I do love a good browse of baby pictures

Eviepoo · 27/10/2011 22:32

Yuraye - just seen your pictures of Freyja too - gorgeous x

Eviepoo · 27/10/2011 22:39

Don't tell my DH neverlookback but I am feeling broody now too, even though I told him no way never after the terrible pregnancy :)

I was looking at your pictures too - very nice indeed :)

For contraception - I have an appointment for the copper coil back in on 18 Nov. I have discussed with my doctor and thats pretty much my only option and they don't mind removing it if/when I want another baby.
I can't have combined pill - my risk of blood clots is too high
PO pill and implant and injection all give me a high dose of progesterone, which makes my IBS flare up really bad (hence some of the terrible PG symtoms) so I simply refuse to have progesterone now.

I had the copper coil for 4 years before Grace - never been happier, no need to worry about conraception, no extra hormones etc. I was also very happy as I had my BFP 10 weeks after coil was removed. So as it works for me I'm sticking with it.

Hello lovely ladies. Even though Morgan is now 20 weeks old, she is going through her milestones along with the August babies. Since she was 8 weeks ahead of her 5th of August due date, her development is mostly on par with you all. Anyway, I added some recent photos!!!! Enjoy.

WinterLover · 28/10/2011 07:55

Wishwales She's gorgeous Grin

neverlookback · 28/10/2011 12:40

wishwales she is lovely, hope her reflus is calming down x
ive put a cople more on of willow and a rare one of all 3 together!

SkinnyGirlBethany · 28/10/2011 13:32

Hi ladies, can't believe our babies are getting so big! never I too am v broody! We want another thou but I want a bigger gap this time!

My cat is trying to climb on Eva as she's feeding so I'll post more later Grin

Yuraye · 28/10/2011 13:34

Wishwales So glad Morgan is doing well, she's lovely!

Eviepoo Thank you. x

Well, Freyja is on extra hungry milk now. She's 12 weeks, and taking 260ml of extra hungry milk each time, would you believe it! She's also teething, which means she's upset most of the time and she'll cry at almost anything. I had a chest infection which meant relatives had to take care of her for a week as I really didn't want her getting sick, it's surprising after a week how much I missed her, and how hard it is to get back into the swing of things!

Does anyone have any tips for teething? Is there anything I can do to soothe her?

Hersetta · 28/10/2011 14:24

Yuraye - a couple of people have reccommended Anbesol liquid to me which you rub on their gums and was describd as a lifesaver - available from pharmacists.I have already got some in ready for teething to properly begin.
Lovely photos posted by everyone.

i am broody and stragely miss being pregnant. i do accept though that Alex was my last. I love, love love the age gap we have now and wouldn't want much short of that again, and i will be much too old at that point as I'm already 41.

Yuraye · 28/10/2011 16:30

I don't know what to do about Freyja at the moment, I don't know if it's teething or something else, but she just keeps crying. She doesn't have a temp, her poo and wees are the usual, and she's feeding a full 260ml of extra hungry milk every feed. She even cries whilst I have her on my lap, bounce her on my knee, play with her, or put her in the cot. She doesn't want to sleep either! I'm at a loss!
It seems most of the time she's been here since my grandparents dropped her back home, she's been crying. It's driving me insane because I can't soothe her. :(

WinterLover · 28/10/2011 17:27

If you put your finger in her mouth does she suck or clamp down on it? If DS is crying and I cant figure out why i do that, if he sucks its either because he's hungry or needing comfort, if he clamps down I think its more to do with teething....

sarges periods come back usually when baby sleeps thru in bfed babies- yet mine haven't come back yet- came back at 6 months ish last time. Beware have pain killers in as your period pains may be awful on your first one.

Re teething the biggest sign is if the poos change and 1 bright red cheek. A tooth usually appears like a slit in the gum. I'd try to ensure it's not Freya being over tired. If she is full, clean and not in any obvious pain it's usually being over tired.

Eva is sleeping well 8am -4 ish or sometimes till 6! However she does not nap in the day for more than 15 mins!!!! Confused oh and feeds every 45 mins in the day!

I have come to the conclusion that it's easier to bath dd's together and my life is so much easier

SkinnyGirlBethany · 28/10/2011 20:07

Oh and Eva is a total creature of habit- I think it's down to having a toddler as a sister as she is used to going to bed after a massive feed after dd goes to bed- 8pm I can set my watch by her! So I would Defo recommend a 2 year gap!

neverlookback · 29/10/2011 09:42

Willow has started to be very whingy and crying a lot in the afternoon, she does not nap well either and i do think sometimes its overtiredness, but it seems to be tummy ache, shes on the lactose free milk so it must be a bit of colic.

Last night at my mums house i was feeding her and she was really projectile sick, my dad was cleaning it up on his hands and knees and another huge spurt of sick came out and almost covered his head, it missed his head by milimeters, it was so funny! i think she practising for Halloween, it was like the exorsist!

shes been going to bed around 8 8.30pm which is good same as the others really so we get a bit of time kid free, she sleep till around 1.30am or sometimes 3am for a feed, straight back down and between 6 - 7.30am so im not bothering doing the dream feed at 11pm as it didnt make her sleep any longer just disturbed her really x

Well Sarge, a lovely baby with a pretty mummy :) Nice pictures...

And yes sarge and SGB - as Grace is now sleeping 9ish to 4ish - feed then til 8ish, she is fairly clingy in day and feeds every 90 minutes, but at least I get my sleep.

She is currently transfixed by MOTD. She loves the footie with her dad.

I went out for a couple of hours with my sister to a wine tasting, was a challenge and took 2 hours but Grace took 100ml from a bottle (I bought a NUK one with a latex teat to try) - she took some from DD1 and DH - then when I came in I managed to get her to take the rest,
Think I am going to express and bottle feed everyday so she gets used to it.

Oh and I'll let DD1 give her the dummy when she is tired

Nope - Grace dribbles constantly too :)

Did you see the picture of Grace with DH and DD1? I am the proudest because I think DD1 is turning into a stunner...maybe I am a touch bias but I don't care, although the boys better keep away for a few years yet.

Grace took a full 3oz bottle in one go this afternoon (from the NUK). Ok so she went on the breast afterwards because that wasn't enough for her - but I think the trick is to give her it when she is not over-tired and hungry just til she gets use to it. I might try a 4oz or 5oz tomorrow - if i manage to express that much in the morning.

And today she has pretty much wanted a dummy all day...what have I started Grin

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 31/10/2011 15:41

Hi there - sorry for butting in but I come with the offer of goodies! We're working with a company that makes something very useful for babies and we're trying to recruit MNers with newborn and very young babies to take part in a product test - am being cryptic and vague on purpose because we can't say on site who it is yet...

Are any of you interested in taking part? All you have to do is try the product out (which is loads of freebies BTW!) and add your feedback to a thread on MN - should only take 10 or 15 mins max. If you're interested in finding out more (no commitment required!), please can you email or PM me? If you email, pls send to [email protected]

Thanks all - as you were!

Poor wee Grace is poorly. She started sneezing n coughing yesterday, her cough is getting worse. This morning after struggling to feed as she is all bunged up she had a coughing fit and brought up the whole feed, so I've got her wrapped up warm and plan to call docs and get her checked - the cough sounds chesty to me. It's heartbreaking...

Hope your wee ones are all ok.
