New thread!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
InmaculadaConcepcion · 09/11/2011 18:32

Ah, fabulous BM medicine...!!
Great for unblocking stuffed up noses, too....

StoneBaby · 09/11/2011 20:01

IC & PA I hope your DD and DS eyes get better soon.

[run hysterically around the room] DS has done a wee on the potty at nursery... [run back]

bethylou · 09/11/2011 21:24

Hi all. I'm also very impressed at Scones and PA being on MN so soon. See Scones? Life with two can be good Smile.

SB Hope your blood pressure goes up soon and your big decisions all turn out to be the right ones for you as a family.

BBB that committee meeting sounds awful. Remind me to keep away from such committees in future Grin

IC sorry to hear about DD. Hope she is better soon and continues to sleep at night, even if she does wake up a bit gammy Grin.

PA DS2 likes books now more than he did and will sit and look at some himself, but is not that bothered by us reading each night, though we persist. He does sometimes bring me a book to read on his own terms. Must not compare him to bookwork DS1! My appointment with the gynae dept. is for November 30th. (My family will have been through 7 hospital departments in 3 different hospitals by December in 10 months Sad) Having already had similar physio appointments, I just decided that having been through childbirth, my dignity had already gone. It's definitely worth getting everything sorted out though so be brave and go through with it. Well done for booking the appointment - sometimes taking that first step can be the hardest. I'm going to PM you if I can remember how.

I've just realised I haven't read the final page so will post this first (in case it all magically disappears) and then read and repost if need be.

bethylou · 09/11/2011 21:27

Wow SB! Now that potty news does warrant a further post Grin. I definiely think chocolate buttons have helped. Stickers are popular too and stories worked to occupy DS1. We've had another poo on the toilet tonight so that's three in a week. Don't think that can be a fluke!

Anyway, another ridiculous day at work (and 100miles between school visits for the first time in 8 years in the job) means I need an early night. May we all have a good one.

StoneBaby · 10/11/2011 09:11

Letter is done and has been dropped into the office by DH on his way to the airport. [sight of relief as now, it's off my hands]

DH is going on a business trip to London to see Red HOt Chilli Peppers at the O2 tonight Envy so tonight it'll only be DS and I and the full moon. I hope my little werewolf will stay in his box. Grin

bethy what a day/drive you had. Do you give the chocolate button when he does something on the potty or just sit on it? Asking as I'm very unfamiliar with bribery.

Bearcrumble · 10/11/2011 09:28

AARGH. It looks like we have subsidence due to a tree on an adjoining property. The owners say they've applied to have the tree cut back, the council says they've had no such application. We can't sell until it is sorted so I've had to take the house off the market.

Re-reading our surveyors report from 2008 I have no idea why we bought the place. It's got so much wrong with it. But it is really, really pretty.

StoneBaby · 10/11/2011 09:28

I'm off to bake some biscuits as DS ate all our gingerbread men. I'll try this recipe I think.

StoneBaby · 10/11/2011 09:29

Oh bc I hope this can be sorted soon. You don't need all that stress now. How many weeks are you?

flyingcloud · 10/11/2011 16:19

OK - I've just printed out the whole thread to try and catch up and it's on 165 pages! You lot are amazing, so lovely after all this time that you're still in touch via MN (worming my way back in here...)

Something to read tonight though, I have no books and am too mean to buy myself any in the run-up to Christmas (thinking about all those presents to buy this year).

Will be back in about a month when I've managed to read it all!

flyingcloud · 10/11/2011 16:21

Oh and big to everyone and to the babies!! (Babies illicit multiple exclamation marks in me at the moment)

StoneBaby · 10/11/2011 18:45

Welcome back fc

Good luck catching up with us!

InmaculadaConcepcion · 10/11/2011 18:57

flyingcloud!! How lovely to hear from you. Congrats in order, I understand...?

Bc that is a major bummer. Bah. I hope it won't be too much of a 'mare to put right. Or maybe someone like you will fall in love with your house, tree roots and all...?

Whoopee for DS being on target in the potty, SB!
Home-made biccies mmm...

I had a nice day with DD today. Nothing special, just a shopping trip in the morning (DD is so far pretty containable in shops and supermarkets. She loves dragging the shopping basket around or putting things in it. And she's generally good at replacing the things she's picked up from shelves and staying fairly close to me) and a wander in the park in the afternoon. Now DD has some wellies, those and her puddlesuit were perfect clothing for her new favourite thing, which is sploshing in puddles.
She's still pretty snotty, but her eyes don't seem to be weeping as much this afternoon. And she slept through last night too, marvellous.

StoneBaby · 10/11/2011 19:27

DH has been stuck in a traffic jam for now 2 hours! He went to London and is less than 4 miles from their hotel. O2 doors opened at 6.30pm but the concert doesn't start before 8.45pm so they may be able to make it... Confused

IC great news on the sleeping through.

PenguinArmy · 10/11/2011 19:33

tell him welcome to the main land SB Grin

DD has now done a month of mainly sleeping through. She's been waking early the past few days but seems to have developmentally leaped again (which I found quite surprising as the last one didn't seem long ago).

She points to all the right bits at the right time in 'head, shoulders, knees and toes' can say 'baa baa back sheep' etc. Her memory is really coming out now as well although I wonder if it's more to do with having opportunities to show it e.g. the songs we learnt at singing class. The other day when walking at the park she stopped and said ball, it had been over a month when we found a tennis ball there.

hope it doesn't take you too long fc

puddle splashing is fun!! (just have to get her not to want the ones in the road as they are the best puddles)

My DM left tonight, I found myself rather emotional about it actually. I think DD will be saying her name a few times over the next few days :(

InmaculadaConcepcion · 10/11/2011 19:51

Aw, PA
My DD is still asking to "go down, see ICDM" whenever we're upstairs.
And she still talks about your DD using her bath and you playing peek-a-boo with her.... Smile

PenguinArmy · 10/11/2011 19:56

I don't even remember playing peek-a-boo with her Grin

StoneBaby · 10/11/2011 19:58

Big hugs PA you'll be fine, Smile

I agree with you regarding their memories and also they are like sponges, DS is very good at copying things he should not do..

DS keep asking to watch Oui-Oui (Noddy) either when at home or in the car Hmm (the titles song is actually going to drive me mad). He also has a new word - sit down (I guess they keep on telling him to sit down at nursery Grin as I only say it in French)

No wee in potty today but he told me that he wanted a poo just seconds before, so no time to undress him and sit him on the potty but he's started to be aware (I just have to be quicker Confused )

bethylou · 10/11/2011 20:09

Hi FC - nice to hear from you.
SB I don't normally resort to bribery either, but yes, we only give a chocolate button if DS2 performs. Our problem is to know what to do about DS1 who is always keen for a button too and yet it rather akes away form the reward for DS2. Saying no seems mean though when he's no really big enough to understand.
PA You'll be amazed at how well you manage with both without your DM. Good luck.
IC Glad DD is on the mend.
BC bad luck on the house front. I hope you manage to sort it quickly.

bethylou · 10/11/2011 20:09

p.s. another poo on the toilet again tonight after a "poo!" shout Smile. Can't wait to end the cost of nappies and the environmental cost too.

StoneBaby · 11/11/2011 08:18

bethy I hink you're getting there re nappies. Any news on your DS1 test?

Well DS is getting more and more upset when putting a nappy on, so I'l lbe brave this weekend and go nappy free Confused Babylegs - checked, potty -checked, chocolat buttons - checked, washing machine ready to load - checked

BabyGiraffes · 11/11/2011 11:25

Very impressed by your LO's using potties and the toilet... My dd has gone the opposite way and will deny having done a poo even if there's an incredible smell following her wherever she goes Grin

StoneBaby · 11/11/2011 11:49

BG I think what's pushed me to do potty training is the smell! DS now in the morning when he sees me tells me 'caca' (poo) with a hand on his bum even before he says hi to me. And the nappy proves him right. Grin

InmaculadaConcepcion · 11/11/2011 14:47

BG more and more I think your and my DDs were twins separated at birth. I know now (to my cost) never to believe DD if I ask her if she's done a poo and she answers "no, no!"
And the opposite. We've had our fair share of unnecessary nappy changes as well as overdue ones... Hmm

BabyGiraffes · 11/11/2011 16:24

IC Hmm they even look a bit alike... Grin

BabyGiraffes · 11/11/2011 16:52

dd2 has started snitching on her sister Grin. She just came running to me to tell me dd1 was eating her hat... (chewing on her swimming cap) Grin

She also surprises me with her memory and likes to tell me for example that there was a baby's bib on the pavement which we then put on a wall in case the baby might come by again... about two months ago. And she keeps wanting to chek on the spider that has long since moved on because the position of the net meant it kept getting destroyed.
Well, her memory is certainly better than mine and I often look at her blankly for a moment trying to work out what she's telling me Grin
