Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

Calling LadyB or Fuzzy - advice on willies needed please

Poor wee man :(

Fuzzywood · 05/08/2011 20:44

Oh no poor L. Ev tends to have a bit of a red willy sometimes, like nappy rash and I've just been putting sudocrem on the outside with no messing about with it. Sounds really painful Sad. Hope he's better soon.
DD's party here tomorrow so slightly manic. FIL, step MIL and their three boys arrived from the States today so I've been employing child labour to help sort the garden out (well they are 16, 14 and 10 so it's about time they earnt their keep). They're eating me out of house and home, the oldest 2 are taller than me already, I've hidden the party food!
No teeth here yet but masses on gnawing and dribbling so I dint expect it'll be long.

LadyBuzz · 06/08/2011 17:09

Poor L i have answered! DS1 had balanitis as a baby and it was most horrid for him.

fuzzy same here, lots and lots of drool but not a single sign off a tooth yet!

Kali is loads better this week thank goodness, she lost her voice and everything she could hardly cry Sad but she is making up for it in shouts this week Grin

busy busy busy here, i decided last weekend to move the playroom into the spare bedroom great idea just before we go away Hmm and we have an ant problem yack yack yack so have had to rip the floor up in the conservatory for rentokil to treat it. Nasty!!!

Grits would kill anything. I've seen that stuff and it's not food!

We have a sticky liquid here in the UK which is supposed to be good.

Best bug killers are in Greece because they don't care too much about how toxic it might be. I've seen cockroaches curl up and die after just a whiff of greek bug killer.

RunningKatie · 07/08/2011 18:55

I know someone who knows someone who used petrol to get rid of ants, he poured it over their nest and then set fire to it. What he hadn't figured was that they'd burrowed under his patio, which promtly went up in flames. Muppet.

DD doesn't have any teeth either, she's not loving the food business - I can't tell how much (if anything) she's eating, is that normal? Bizarrely it does seem to be making her go slightly longer between feeds, I wasn't expecting that for some time.

gallicgirl · 07/08/2011 20:00

How are you feeding her Katie? BLW or puree?

If you're offering finger foods then i would say they don't eat very much at first but you can always check in her nappy if anything is getting through. It all comes out in the wash for a while.........

Love the patio story. Grin

Fuzzywood · 08/08/2011 09:52

If anyone does have an ant removal method do pass it on. I've found about 5 nests in our back garden this year and no amount of boiling water or ant powder seems to help. Don't think I'll resort to fire just yet though Grin
I need to get some more storage boxes for toys today after DD's party on Saturday, our house has been invaded by Peppa Pig! Party was fab though and there were no tears when the hired bouncy castle had to go back. Still trying to get the ground in cheese sandwich out of the trampoline though Hmm.
Running not being able to tell how much they're eating sounds normal to me. How many weeks in are you? First couple of weeks with Evan weren't too successful but he's loving it now. What sort of things are you giving her?

RunningKatie · 08/08/2011 18:20

We're in the first week of food - she's definitely eating something as DP was changing a nappy earlier and complained it reeked, I wandered in to laugh supervise and then got very excited as it had carrot in it! Grin She's having a mix of mashed up food and then sticks of broccoli etc. Must just stop fretting and instead enjoy having banana smeared everywhere!

I am threatening to go out for a run in a bit, first one in 10 months. I'm wearing two sports bra's in attempt to minimise bounce. Blush

JJKM it's just awful Sad. Lots of riots in London last night, just watching the news and it also spread to Birmingham, Liverpool and other places. Looks like lots of fires have been started and there has been looting. It just seems so random with some of the places that were affected last night.
Hope you and your families are all safe and well. Let's hope this stops soon.

gallicgirl · 09/08/2011 09:13

It's a lot of places where there are poor neighbourhoods next to slightly wealthier neighbourhoods.

The thugs are out to loot mostly. Idiots, the lot of them.

Fuzzywood · 09/08/2011 10:09

Yeah you're right about the areas affected Gallic. I guess that the fact that they are dispersed all over London (and increasingly the rest of the country) demonstrates that its got bugger all to do with protesting about something and is just plain thuggery. Interested to see what Cameron decides to do about it. I can't see it just dying down now, there's going to need to be decisive action soon or people are going to start getting killed. I'm horrified at the age some of the people children involved.

Fuzzywood · 11/08/2011 21:34

DD was 3 yesterday, where did the time go? Enjoy every minute of their 'babyhood' because before you know it they'll be all big and lanky and cheeky Grin on the plus side she had a fab party and we had a lovely day together yesterday on her actual birthday.
Hope you're all doing ok.

gallicgirl · 11/08/2011 23:25

I'm around. I've been posting inappropriately on lots of other threads. DP was away for a few days setting up his exhibition so we had a nice, quiet, organised house. I ate dinner with DD around 6, put her to bed by 7:30 and had lovely boring quiet evenings to myself.

I know what you mean about time flying Fuzzy. DD seems to get longer every time I look at her. In some ways it's sad, but in other ways, I'm excited about the time we have with her in the future.

RunningKatie · 12/08/2011 22:15

I saw things about Syria on the news tonight, hope Cupcakes DH is ok.

Riots haven't really affected us at all here, DP was going to go to Nottingham Weds eve., but we decided he was safer in having a nice dull evening with us!

Gallic - how on the earth do you get DD down at 7pm? I'm still feeding DD to sleep and she'll have a bit of a nap maybe around 8pm but won't go to sleep properly till 10pm. I'm going to book club on Monday for 2 hours (hopefully), so leaving her during the time i'd normally feed her to sleep. Hmm

gallicgirl · 12/08/2011 22:32

It's just luck and some nights are better than others. It's probably more like 7:30 to 8 really and she usually needs another feed about 10pm.

It depends on what naps she's had during the day too. Sometime she's really annoying and won't have an afternoon nap until 5. I don't want her to nap so late but she's dog tired so I have to let her sleep for a bit and just resign myself to her going to bed later. Trust me, I promise there are nights when she doesn't go to bed til after 9.

I had a night out with my NCT mummies last week and she wouldn't sleep for DP Grin. I reckon he doesn't do it often enough.

i hope you enjoy your book club. It might be hard work for a bit but you'll all figure it out.

RunningKatie · 14/08/2011 17:57

Gahhh, grandparents. Took DD to meet them for lunch today and she ended up sampling all manner of sweet stuff. She loved it of course!

Gallic - I reckon we have to be tough and get DP's to put them to bed more. It's the way forward! :)

jjkm - poor you, how are they getting on?

DD appeared to have made a rolling breakthrough earlier this week but she's back to not quite being faffed with it again.

Fuzzywood · 18/08/2011 22:14

Sorry to hear that JJKM, is there anything the doctors can do?
Running bless your DD it does make me laugh when they just seem to decide they can't be bothered with something that they can do. Ev is just getting really frustrated that he can't get where he wants to be. This usually involves loads of rolling around then not being able to work out why he's nit where he thought he'd be. He's desperate to get after his big sister. He has a very cute angry face too Smile

jjkm sorry to hear you are having problems, They sound like the are progressing well though which must be great for you.

Kali is a very stiff baby although i suspect its more that she doesn't like to bend as opposed to she can't, she can sit by herself but she prefers being on her back or front so she just won't do it!
She is trying her very very best to crawl at the moment, up on her knees and hands but she hasn't quite got the hang of the movement, i doubt it will be long though.
She is also trying to pull herself up in her cot Shock so my job today is to lower the mattress just incase she succeeds!

fuzzy she is desperate to be with the boys too, she goes great guns round the kitchen in her walker after them! Its very cute.

Food still isn't going so well, she still sticks her tongue out at the spoon and although she is now putting things to her mouth she gags so easily and usually makes herself sick.

I can't quite believe that she was 7 months old on Thursday! She is still a little tot!

Hey ladies, back from our hols - this thread seems to have died a wee death?! Where is everybody? Problem with having too many teachers on this thread is that we all bugger off on hols for too long. We also seem to have scared former permanent members off, as well as newcomers! Should we start a new thread to rival the other Jan 2011 ? or are people happy to continue as we are?

So, on to Baby talk; L now has two teeth, is eating three full meals a day but is still feeding every three hours or so at night. Still not taking a bottle :( Am desperate! He's going in his Own Room tonight :) :) and so I may be even :( er and Angry er tomorrow as I'll be traipsing through to his room at God unearthly hours during the night Hmm :o

He is starting to try to crawl - he has done Two Significant Knee Movements Forwards (i.e the start of a crawl) a couple of times but no more. I've been poised with my video camera ready for a few days now, but nothing worth showing anyone other than extremely doting grandparents. Confused

Sorry haven't commented yet on others' posts - am trying to multi-task with little success. Will be back with more later :)
