Hello ladies, hope you found your way over here okay!

Our little newborns are newborns no more! :( :)

Hopefully a while yet before teething and weaning starts, but there's definitely a lot of wiggling and squealing going on already :o

She'll be 3 in 2 weeks (where did that time go). The doctor was saying yesterday that they could leave it for a bit and see if it fixes itself but glasses would be a better option. Hopefully she'll only have to have them for a few years if she gets them now. It's the nerve pathways from the eye to the brain that need fixing but they're set by about age 7 so need fixing as soon as possible. Did the doc say what was wrong with Bridget's eyes?

LadyBuzz · 28/07/2011 09:52

Aww fuzzy i bet she will look lovely in them!

I had a horrific day with my naughty lovely kids yesterday and watched Jo Frost to make myself feel better that they aren't actually that bad after all Grin

Off to my Auntys for Lunch today to see both of my mums sisters and 2 of my cousins, i can't wait! We were all so close growing up and don't see as much of each other as we would like. Its very rare we all manage to be around at the same time (apart from 1 cousin who lives in New Zealand so can be excused).

Our two will be lucky to miss out on long term glasses wearing because of me and DH as well JJKM. The specialist is really surprised that DD's eyes aren't worse because of her genes Smile. I'm just very glad that the choice of glasses is much better than when I was a kid!

Hi all, just back from camping in Hampshire - sustainable camping whatever the feck that might be! three very grubby but happy children, two knackered parents and two cross cats :)

Crappy news about Kali's possible asthma and eczema LadyB and you're very brave mad going to Nickolodean land in the holidsays! :o

I used to want to wear glasses as a kid fuzzy and jjkm to the extent that I used to pretend I could see pictures in those colour-blind blobby picture tests we had at school Blush - nobody believed me though and they never let me have any :( :o

travis I am well and truly knackered too - not just from camping but life with three. Really losing my patience with DD1 and DD2 at the moment, so could do with a full night's sleep to see if I'm a nasty mummy all the time or just with three kids and crappy sleep. The Boy is hopefully going through a growth spurt as is troughing three full meals then boob feeding every two hours >>wailllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Off out in half an hour so quick chicken purée recipe for you.
One chicken breast, half a decent size sweet potato, half a decent size leek, half a tin of tomatoes, little bit of tomato purée, about 5oz water or chicken stock, 5 or so dried apricots.

Bit of olive oil in a saucepan, fry off the chopped leek until soft, add the chopped up chicken and fry until White on all sides, add potato for another 5 mins. Then chuck in the apricots tomato and water/ chicken stock. Bring to the boil then cover and simmer for about 15 minutes. Once cool blend into a purée.
Good thing about it is that if you increase the amount you can take some out before blending and use as a stew type thing for older DCs. Really sweet though so you may want to take the sweet potato out for the older ones and add to rice or something.
Right toe nails dry now so off to finish getting ready Grin

gallicgirl · 29/07/2011 22:13

Steam asparagus for approx 4 minutes until tender. add garlic butter. hand to baby and watch 'em go.

Don't blame you for not moving babies out if they don't sleep through and you have to feed them in the night. I always pull Alys into bed with me when she won't settle so I don't have to move. Sounds like a good plan to wait until after your holidays, Flubba

FlubbaBubba · 29/07/2011 22:45

Like those ideas ladies, ta and only slightly embarrassed at having given The Boy weetabix and bits of my penne carbonara tonight :)

Fuzzywood · 30/07/2011 07:48

Just re-read the recipe it should be 7oz of water/ stock not 5.
Lovely day here and we're off to a picnic later so that should be fun (apart from the fact that DH is going away for a week with work this morning).

gallicgirl · 30/07/2011 13:40

Ah don't worry flubba. DD gets fed all sorts of bits when I'm busy doing something else. Today we tried sweet potato slices with humous, carrot with humous, cucumber with humous, rice cake with humous. You see a theme here? She pretty much just licked the humous off each item and threw the rest on the floor.

Great weather here but unfortunately DP is at work until 10:30 so I'm going to be stuck at home cleaning etc. Dad might be visiting tomorrow so DP has suddenly noticed that the house isn't exactly tidy. Hmm Going to be a lot tidier once I've put all the stuff he has hanging around into bin bags!

Can I have a little rant about my frigging upstairs neighbours? They're having necessary work done so I appreciate that it does need doing and they do need to park a van on the front of the house sometimes BUT we have such a tiny space for parking and today, DP is parked around the corner and he's gone to work in my car so they've pulled the van up right in front of my living room window. :( Neighbour hasn't moved his car mind, and they don't know when we will need the space again. Good job I'm not going out with baby in car because I would park in front of them and block them in. they'd better not be working tomorrow because we need the spaces due to the Olympic trials and bloody parking restrictions. [/rant. Normal service resumed]

How's Kali getting on, LadyB ?

LadyBuzz · 31/07/2011 07:39

gallic rant away that sounds very annoying!

Kali is up and down at the moment, she is feeding a bit better but has awful bouts of coughing which leave her gasping for breath Sad i'm not sure if the inhaler does anything or not but i reckon its best to keep on with it just incase it does. She is still a happy little soul despite not being so clever, DS2 is the same where as DS1 does the whole dying swan routine when he is ill!

I had a chicken stew recipie that sounds very much like one i used to do for the boys and both of them wolfed it.

Weaning still not going great here, no food is making it to her mouth and she is hit and miss with purees, but we still give her bits and bobs and she very much likes playing with it Hmm

FlubbaBubba · 31/07/2011 10:24

Oh poor little Kali - L has had a cough (not asthma related though) for a couple of weeks now, sounds like he's on 20 a day but also doesn't seem bothered by it particularly.

He is scoffing three full meals a day (breakfast was a big banana with greek yoghurt followed by a big bowl of baby rice and then some toast [huge piggy emoticon]) as well as full milk feeds and still feeds three times a night!! He should be the size of a bus!! Blush Hmm

Did you get the parking space gallic? That kind of thing really annoys me too so rant away :)

gallicgirl · 31/07/2011 14:50

I popped my head out of the door and explained I would need to go out later and they were actually very nice and were only there an hour or so. Someone has done the weeding on our wee strip of garden as well so actually turned out to be quite a good day.

Wow! L is certainly going for it. I've been pan-frying slices of apple and pear in butter with cinnamon and Alys has wolfed it down. However she's been rubbing her hand through her hair so she now smells of butter and cinnamon. Could be worse I suppose.

Gotta go try get DD to sleep, catch up properly later.

RunningKatie · 31/07/2011 17:59

I am still here, still not weaning, trying to get DD to take a bottle and maybe even some formula but no luck so far! Weaning starts Friday, I'm ready to start mashing carrots but haven't really got very organised yet.

Hope you're all having nice sunshine this weekend!

Fuzzywood · 31/07/2011 18:16

Flippin eck I'm knackered! Two 3rd birthday parties has done me in. Didn't manage to eat anything at the one today either so also starving. Currently trying to persuade DD she does want to go to bed soon (should be ok once the sugar wears off). DH in California all week as well so definitely put multi tasking into place with both kids at the parties. Trying to decide what noisy and sugar filled things I can put in the party bags at DD's party on Saturday to get my revenge Grin.
Sorry that Kali is poorly LadyB hope the inhaler starts to help soon.
L sounds much like Evan who is also a bottomless pit and sporting the best chubby thighs to prove it Smile.
Good to hear your neighbours were reasonable Gallic, does annoy me when people do things without checking with people they'll inconvenience.
Ooh some yawning happening here, fingers crossed for a bath soon!

awww poor little thing. Will she gnaw on cucumber or celery to help soothe her gums?
Everyone around here seems to rave about ashtons and palmers teething powders. At least I think that's what they're called.

FlubbaBubba · 03/08/2011 18:48

Ashton and Parsons - but don't think jjkm is in the UK?

Also good is a spot of mouth ulcer gel/bonjela on your finger, and rubbed onto their gum just to num it for a bit. also calpol or some such to help ease the pain

L's tooth is now through, so he's a happier chappy, although I fear #2 is on its way too :(

gallicgirl · 03/08/2011 22:34

www.boots.com/en/Ashton-Parsons-Infants-Powders-20-Powders_1674/

You can get them in Boots but I bet they can't ship abroad. It does list the ingredients though in case there is something jjkm can buy locally.

FlubbaBubba · 03/08/2011 22:40

btw I swore by it with the girls and their teething (called it Baby Cocaine :o), but it made squat all difference with The Boy.

Right, off to bed. Picnic in the rain tomorrow, then packing for our holiday on Friday :)

Where's the holiday Bubba? I am v v jealous - think we will go and stay with my DGM in Southwold again... Sorry to hear about teething - Saskia doesn't seem to have any coming! But she does cry every time she has a poo, anyone else have this or is she constipated?
I am so tired at the moment - sometimes feel like I am a rambling fool when I speak to people. Anyone else have that?? Or is it just the sleep thing? Hope you are all doing OK.

FlubbaBubba · 04/08/2011 22:17

Don't be too jealous travis - west coast of Scotland followed by Whitby (with my ILS) Hmm :o

And I always feel like a rambling fool these days. I do think it's a lack of sleep thing
