It was getting desperate and since MrsMCJnr suggestion came in last and I was being lazy I just went for that - hope that is ok.

LaT - just read your other thread, sympathies. What I do know is that young DC & crap sleep do not make for an easy life. Hang on in there x

Happy Birthday Sabela Grin

Happy 4th Birthday Sabela Grin

(can you believe 4 years have gone?)

latrucha · 02/01/2012 20:58

Sob My little girl is 4!

Look on my profile, Filly, for my first ever attempt at icing a cake!

simpson · 03/01/2012 23:55

awww, did she enjoy her birthday???

latrucha · 04/01/2012 09:04

She did. It wasn't like last year where she opened one present, tossed it aside and went for the nest one. This year she was utterly delighted with each present (apart from clothes) and exclaimed, 'Can I have it?' as if she didn't believe it was for her.

And she asked to play with her dolls house at long last, Filly Wink

simpson · 04/01/2012 13:35

What did you get her in the end???

I need ideas, am thinking of a leap pad or maybe a tag reader as she loves books.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 04/01/2012 13:55

Happy birthday Sabela. Sorry I am late.

LaT - my sympathies with your thread. I think that DH sometimes feels like this with me so I cant offer anything helpful. Hope you both find some kind of balance soon.

E is getting some slippers and a torch probably from his brothers. Not really sure what to get him as most of the stuff on his list are unsuitable (Transformers etc) and a bike which I have negoiated for next Christmas with both S and E. He is having his very first party. He has invited 6 friends and we are having a Gruffalo party and I am making my very first ever cake. Eek.

Happy New year all.

Fillybuster · 05/01/2012 15:55

Happy birthday Sabela...sorry I'm late but I've been off MN since before xmas!!!

Hope everyone had a lovely xmas and new year? I'm slowly easing back into work, but really not feeling very happy about a whole year of working coming up....dh says my extended maternity leave (which only finished last Sept!) spoilt me for good Grin I've thought about it, but I think having another baby, just for the mat leave would be too much of a drastic solution....GrinGrin

I can't believe our babies are turning 4 this month! And that we've known each other for nearly 5 years!!!

LaT - S' birthday sounds lovely, and I thought the cake looked very pretty :)
MM - I am certain your cake will be great! Drop me a line if you want any recipe advice (I think you can't go wrong with Nigella)....by the way, someone gave me
this birthday cake link today....check it out - it looks really easy and there are lots of other great ideas on here, too.

In fact, I've given in and decided that I will make T's cake after all....I can't find what I want in the shops and I'm not willing to spend a fortune on a 'professional' cake when I can do it myself with a 'fashion doll' (thank you Poundland!), a glass mixing bowl (to bake the dress shape), some mini fairy wings and some clever icing. Going to have a trial run tonight....

Ebay has provided most of T's presents this year, and I found the rest in the sales....so far she's getting:

  • wooden dolls house (thanks LaT - glad to hear S is getting into hers!! Grin)
  • some My Little Pony stuff
  • some Sylvanian Families stuff
  • some Hello Kitty stuff

I must admit, I do feel a bit like everything on the list is a franchise, but she's got a big brother, so has got access to lots of his stuff (like the cd player...yes, it's a great present!) already.

ELC have got the V-tech cameras on half price at the moment, so she's getting one from my Dsis. Btw, A has one, and its been brilliant value, so def recommend if anyone is considering it. Not really a 'sharing' toy though.

Oh, and we're moving house in 4 weeks. So advance birthday wishes to all the Jan babes....i'm either going to disappear under a pile of packing cases until this is over or spend the next 6 weeks venting on here....place bets now!!

AngeChica · 06/01/2012 11:36

Happy new year to all. Hope you had a good festive time. We had a good trip to my folks and all went well. Now back to mundanity of work/nursery etc. Plus doing ridiculous amounts of running training. My legs and bum are really toned but quite dishearteningly I still have a jelly belly after 4 years - I do not think it will ever quite recover from growing a massive baby and being sliced open to get him out.

happy 4th birthday to Sabela! :)

I know this thread isn't used up but how about a new thread title as our LOs turn 4?

DS not til end of the month - wants a Thomas party and wants to be Diesel 10 Hmm is he going to grow up to be Lex Luthor I wonder? :) I think we will get him a new bike (nearly new) his current one small and a bit rusty.

JKSLtd · 09/01/2012 19:12

HNY from me too :)

Filly - i hope the cake trial went well? And moving goes as smoothly as it can.

Ange - I am v impressed with all your running, well done!

Mixed - the Gruffalo party sounds fab, I could do with some party here here if anyone has a sec.

Mostly wish I hadn't been a little organised and booked a hall then we could just say, oh soddit and have a 'party tea' at home with just us

Fillybuster · 09/01/2012 20:29

Yes yes, a new thread title would be great.....something along the lines of the AA Milne poem ("when I was one, I had just begun") maybe?

I'm having some cake troubles actually, but thank god for MN :) DH won't speak to me about it, as he thinks I get really stressed, but I think its just healthy over-absorbtion in a non-critical-problem....its nice to be able to hide in baking books, pink sprinkles and worrying about icing structures at a point in time that the rest of my life has got horribly stressfull!!

Will look at your link later JKS....dh just got home so I need to get off MN :)

latrucha · 09/01/2012 20:42

I agree Filly - it is nice to have a totally unimportant problem to obsess about when other things are more serious.

On that note, would you like to help me choose a new changing bag? My old one has completely broken. It's the last thing on earth I want to spend money on right now. I was bidding on a dreamy one on ebay last night but got pipped at the post I can't find a cheapish one I really like.

So, ladies

Shiny

Smartish

Flowery

or

This

latrucha · 09/01/2012 20:46

Posted on your thread and thinking JKS

Read yours Filly. No blooming clue Grin but interested. S would definitely approve of that Barbie cake.

Oh ladies! Motivate me to lose weight! I don't seem to be able to get in gear and keep troughing carbs. I've lost all my Danny weight but still have 7 kilos Shock at least of S weight to go.

And aGne - symapthy. My belly is the thing I hate. I've never had one before being pregnant and now it feels like it's here to stay.

JKSLtd · 09/01/2012 20:52

Filly - rather you than me re the cake, all sounds v stressful - though i know it will look fabulous in the end :)

LaT - hmm, not sure about shiny though i like the lining :)
ALso not sure about the padding on no 2.
Others are ok, do you definitely want black?

I bought a colourful stripy one, will search for the link, as i prefer more colourful stuff.

JKSLtd · 09/01/2012 21:03

this is the one i've got and i love it.
she does various colour combos.

latrucha · 09/01/2012 21:27

Hmm. Those are nice. I'm thinking of it going with more than one pushchair, which is why I plumped for black.

I've got a black and white one, a green one and a red one. Blush

latrucha · 09/01/2012 21:31

Just done day 2 of level 3 of the 30 day shred Smile

Fillybuster · 10/01/2012 12:05

Left you a longish post on your thread JKS :)

LaT - I've had loads of good advice from stealthsquiggle (although after looking at her cakes i'm tempted to give up forever) so am going to have another baking run this afternoon....if it works (easily) I will definitely let you know :)

simpson · 10/01/2012 12:28

Happy birthday to george Grin
