A quick hello. And marking my place.

Hello!

PertyPru · 09/12/2010 22:48

Thanks guys. She has a passionate relationship with her frog-shaped water bottle so a promise of a sip to take the taste away helps a lot. But will stock up on alternatives and see. I just hate how worked up she gets, can't help feeling she has some residual dr/medicine/illness phobia but I know my worrying about is not exactly going to help if she does.... ah the tortuous mental circles we go in.

Star I hope it's a very comfy sofa and some superior-quality nothing! I'm sure everything is going to be fine when you get to the MWs. Have you been symptom-y this week? I get quite queasy if I go out in the cold without a good dose of toast and marmite inside me first - shame Wink - but otherwise like you I still feel as though I could be imagining the whole thing. Oh and in case you haven't had a what-not-to-eat lecture yet, apparently this time round we're 'allowed' liver once a week. Woohoo Grin

RedLentil · 09/12/2010 23:16

On one of the child in our time programmes, pert, they took children who'd been in hospital back to high-intensity wards, and they were actually comfortable there (heart rates stayed the same as normal etc) while other children who hadn't been ill found them frightening.

DS was a huge worrier until he was about 4. He'd worry about global warming, illness - anything really. He just noticed too much stuff. It was hard for us to deal with but it passed and he doesn't do it at all now.

RedLentil · 09/12/2010 23:16

For a second there I thought she was drinking out of a hot water bottle. Grin

blueberrysantabait · 10/12/2010 08:25

Morning Ladies

Pert - I wouldn't worry about it being doc/illness fear, DD1 is the same about taking any medication and/or being ill. We have recently tried explaining exactly why she needs it and what it will do to her body to make it feel better e.g. if she has a fever I told her the neurofen (total calpol refuser) goes to her body's thermometer and makes it cool her down so the numbers go down from the hot red section to the perfect green temperature section. We used the toy thermometer from her doctor kit to show her. All very complicated but it made her understand why she needs it.

Morning all else :) D2 yelling for more t oast so will be back later.

aBrightStarWithFestiveWays · 10/12/2010 09:33

Pert I have been feeling pretty queasy actually, it's quite weird as last time I didn't have anything of the sort. Am wondering if I'll get stuck with proper morning sickness this time.

Most curiously, I'm finding it very hard to eat breakfast Shock That NEVER happens!

HippyChristmaspotamus · 10/12/2010 10:27

ooh star, i was the same... pg1 = no sickness, pg2=loads!

hi pert, lovely to see you...fancy meeting for a coffee soon?

hi everyone else

can i just give a big sigh for dh this morning... he's off skiing later so has this morning off work. i suggested yday that it would be nice if he took ds to gym thing (10am start) this morning. he agreed. well this morning he has run round like a blue arsed fly packing, asking for advice what to take (he's never been skiing before whereas i have a few times), asking me to find sun cream, wrapping paper, sellotape, gift tags (for the secret santa they're doing). i got ds dressed and ready to go apart from his shoes. and whilst i was bf dd, i was on the computer finding a photo of the place he's going to and the location on a map for him.
he was late leaving because ds didn't have shoes on and i was meant to be helping him Hmm and because he had to check his emails before he left Hmm He then phoned me at 10 to say there were no halls on the main road. erm no, that's right, there aren't because its not on the main road.
but despite all of the above, i handled it calmly and we'll be having a little chat about leaving things to the last minute when i drive him to the airport!

sorry, that's all very boring but i wanted to keep a record of it!

i'm now sitting having a lovely cup of coffee whilst he runs round a hall after DS who is in a 'kamikaze style i can fly' jumping phase Xmas Grin

HippyChristmaspotamus · 10/12/2010 10:29

when he said i was meant to be helping him i said i couldn't have helped him more this morning. he sheepishly agreed!!

HippyChristmaspotamus · 10/12/2010 10:30

damn, i should have sent him off with dd as well so he got a true taste of what my friday mornings are usually like!

HippyChristmaspotamus · 10/12/2010 10:33

HippyChristmaspotamus · 10/12/2010 10:38

sorry, think i'm having a caffeine hit and combined with DS's absence, it seems to have resulted in numerous posts! i'm like a bus...don't see one for ages and then a million all come at once. actually, i feel like the size of a bus at the moment so i think i'd better quick step over to HM's...maybe tomorrow! what day of the week do you count as the first day?

HippyChristmaspotamus · 10/12/2010 10:39

oh dear goodness, i am sorry, i'm going to stop posting now! i need to get bits ready to go out anyway so it'll be safe for you all to come out of hiding now

CrispyTheCrisp · 10/12/2010 10:43

Today hippy Wink Grin

I fear i am in the same state as MrHippo as i am frantically packing whilst the DDs trash the joint. I have escaped upstairs for a cup of tea and they don't seem to have noticed yet Grin. Mind you, from the bangs going on down there i think they are happy. Good job DH tied the new wardrobe to the wall is all i can say Hmm

DH at work and will float in, be provided lunch, and then be able to get into a ready packed car to be whisked off for the weekend Envy

Re pregnancy sickness, i only ever had it at about 5pm (tired/queasy) feeling. Which was very lucky i know. Well, until the heartburn hit anyways......

Back to it

Santa You can choose your friends your know, she sounds like more hard work than fun.

Crispy Good luck with your travels. Thanks for the printer, picked it up today and yes I did PMSL about the entry systemGrin. If my dad didn't have a shared drive, he would have something identical I'm sure. Bless their little asparagus hearts.

Did I tell you lot about my idea to have a Happiness Festival in my city? Or maybe just the hippy suburb of it LOL. Well, I have just sent the concept to local community group who ran a One Big Community day this summer. I think with enough networking (council, mental health charities, other local groups) and co-operation, it could be easier and more fundable than it seems, getting them to organise their own happiness-themed events during the same weekend, and maybe a grant could be applied for. Not sure how any of this is going to pay me though (other than providing free publicity for my clients) so I don't think I'll mention it to DH unless I get a response.
