one hairdo done - at least I was warm in there and DH and the kids have built a den in the living room so it's cosey in here

silks - Dad already forking out the £2.5k for heating so can't go anywhere else - I'm on shift from Thurs & as long as the schools stay open we'll be ok - got a few more heater offers I can call in. I just wasn't hoping it would last that long

I've been invited to a wedding fayre in Feb but it's £75 per table will think about it all in the New year!

Had a lovely day today despite the freezing weather (are you sensing a theme here? ). Took DS to gym tots which he loved, then went round to a friend's for the afternoon. Had my first experience of de-icing the car, brrr. DS retuned the radio while we were waiting for it to warm up and enjoyed some Vivaldi followed by some amazing Bollywood music.

Bibi I am about the heating. I know someone else without heating at the moment and it's dire for them but they don't have small children . I guess moving out for the duration is not going to happen so it will be a case of coats and hot water bottles, and come Monday you will absolutely BLAST the heat out and you'll all be running round the house in nothing but a swimsuit. You poor poor thing, what a dreadful thing to happen.

Crisp that's nice that you have two good uns to choose from - I wouldn't stress unduly about it. We are looking at secondary schools at the moment and as we have two very good ones to choose from it really comes down to a tiny detail here or there. I'm confident that whichever one ds1 ends up in, he'll be in good hands. Having said that, I know primary is slightly different - and it's the first time, and so on. I'm delighted dd1 conquered her stage fright, bless her .

Star I agree - the more you put in the more you get out. DS2's only real bad days are the days I'm ignoring him or getting annoyed because I am supposed to be doing something else and he's preventing me. Poor sausage. And whenever he's grumpy, if I give him something to focus on - spread out markers and paper on the table, or get him up to help me cook, or whatever, he cheers up immediately. I think sometimes I give him too much credit for being able to entertain himself - which he does a LOT!

Bibi I like the cupcake thing but I can't believe there isn't a cheaper way of doing it. Not saying you haven't investigated, just that no-one has thought of it yet. Could we invent something?

Happychick [green] at 4.5hrs childfree Hello/OK time in hairdressers! Bet it looks amazing.

Did my last ever NCT meet&greet at local maternity hospital tonight, was really nice. Spoke to one lady who was worried about BFing again, think I really helped her feel more positive and sold on joining the NCT. Over 5yrs I've been doing this Parent-to-be info night, between my real nappy network and NCT, feels odd that I won't be hanging out there anymore. Branch AGM/pub dinner tomorrow will be my last last last official engagement, I am officially the longest serving member so it's definitely time to quit. So now I neeeeeeeeed a new cause!

Oh and as well as having probs with washing machine, BTVision and forthcoming car costs, we appear to have rising damp in one of our chimney breasts which does not appear to be covered by the DPC guarantee. Still, could be worse, eh?

DD2 is currently trying to waddle from the lounge to the loo with her trousers round her ankles . We have progressed from bare bum, to skirts with knickers (her legs were a tad chilly last week ), to trousers. And also moved the potty from the lounge to the utility room. Now, she feels the need to go, pulls down her knickers and waddles off . Oh and she had no nappy on for her nap and stayed dry

Santa hope DD1 and you both get the all clear
