HoHoHotsAMerryChristmas · 22/12/2010 09:35

Yay for lots of scans merlion and glad everything is going OK. Seems like 2 mins since you were Xmas Sad that you couldn't get pg and now you're nearly half way there Xmas Shock

Oh no hippy re your PILs boiler. If I see a gas man lying around I'll send him their way Xmas Grin

Need to go and get dressed then try and defrost the car before heading off to the supermarket before the car park gets full. MIL coming for tea today but hopefully she's off to SIL's on Christmas Eve. Please pray for no more snow between Wakey and Newcastle for the next 48 hours...

HippyChristmaspotamus · 22/12/2010 10:03

dh beat me to it, he rang them first! they've got a plumber having a look tomorrow. dh and i are assuming they're staying with us

merlion sounds like your family are playing 'house hopping'! similar to bibi's game of bed hopping!

thanks hots

despite all the stockings i've made this year, my poor dd hasn't got one yet so i'd best get crcking on that

feck, dh's present just arrived. i bought an extra one yday in case it didn't but never mind, he can have two! but my main problem is that its huge!! its one of those enormous bean bags. think i'm going to have to ask my neighbour nicely to see if she'll hide it for me! i was really hoping it wouldn't get here til friday!

TwilightSurfer · 22/12/2010 10:54

Morning

aBrightStarWithFestiveWays · 22/12/2010 12:06

Morning all

Typically, it has snowed buckets overnight and still going strong now Hmm I looked at some of the traffic-cams on the M1 earlier though and it looks pretty clear, no traffic really and the road surface just looks wet. So still not sure what we'll do re. Christmas travel.

Merlion how lovely to see so much of your baby generally, even though he/she wouldn't show you the relevant parts Xmas Smile

QoD glad to hear you sounding so chirpy Xmas Smile S sounds very cute. Is he excited about Christmas and getting a new brother or sister?

boybait hooray for your sis making it away at last. I hope she appreciates all your efforts!

Bibi your employers, for example, are twats. Yes you, Scottish polis! Twats.

HippyChristmaspotamus · 22/12/2010 13:31

judging by the size and weight of the box that just arrived for dh, i suspect he's bought me a kindle Hmm He asked me ages ago if i wanted one and i said no, didn't know when i'd use it. he has admitted that i'll think his present to me is 'pointless'

HippyChristmaspotamus · 22/12/2010 13:33

this is my cousin's fb status at the moment...

the beauty of wrecking your house while your mums away is that she can no longer go on holiday without you, hello egypt :)

made me smile!

HippyChristmaspotamus · 22/12/2010 13:56

to my secret santa
i'm very very sorry but DS just opened my present! Thank you Grin They're all perfect! Especially the cup measurers! SmileSmileSmile

SilkStalkings · 22/12/2010 14:49

Afternoon all. Odd question but does anyone know of a cemetery in the UK with a great view (on a hill I'd assume)?

HoHoHotsAMerryChristmas · 22/12/2010 15:08

MIL here, and she arrived before we could have a fortifying cig Xmas ShockXmas Blush

A postcard from Tennessee has arrived too, hurrah! You all look very lovely TS Xmas Smile

CrispyTheChristmasCracker · 22/12/2010 15:27

Whoever is my SS is VERY annoying clever using a friends details. Hmm, now which one of you was it. Instructions on the packet are being heeded, although it is a huge box to try and fit in my crammed full fridge. I managed it though Grin

We have had our first post since last Thursday - 9 parcels Shock. Our very lovely postie left them all in the shed, even the 'signed for' ones. We had popped into the Post Office to see if we could pick up our post from the sorting office, but our v lovely postmistress said they had loaded the entire backlog of posts onto vans today and were going to try and get to everyone. How great is that? Smile

Lovely scan news merlion, fingers x'd s/he is more cooperative in a few weeks

hippy my DH does things like yours in buying stuff when i say 'no, i'm not really wanting one of those' Hmm

Good luck to all of those with IL's visiting. Mine have just canx. Gutted Wink

santashappychick · 22/12/2010 15:38

blueberrysantabait · 22/12/2010 15:42

Silky - there is one in Bath called Haycombe, it is on the side of a valley and overlooks fields. Why you asking?

CrispyTheChristmasCracker · 22/12/2010 15:51

Oh yes Silky, the one on Painswi ck Beacon overlooks the valley

saltasaltasanta · 22/12/2010 16:16

South Wales - beautiful on the side of a mountain. Can find out more if needed.

Hippy excellent - did it come off amazon? Returns are very easy and then you can have lots of lovely amazon credit for buying nice things with.

DH doesn't do presents. Money is a bit tight in fact (never has been before, we have been really lucky) so even buying the bicycle for DS that my parents will pay me back for in England is going to be a bit complex. Oh well, good practice for budgeting in fact ...

saltasaltasanta · 22/12/2010 16:17

Hippy I didn't in fact just suggest that you return the present from your DH for credit. Apologies. Am not sure where that rogue thought came from ...

saltasaltasanta · 22/12/2010 16:22

We went to the zoo this morning. Very very hot indeed. Planning to stay inside in the a/c this afternoon - oh yes, but I have a proper English Christmas pudding to pick up from a hairdressers with a big painting of a naked lady in it where the wife of a colleague of my sister, who brought it over for me has left it for me. Other than this I will be cooking the in-laws turkey. Hurrah

saltasaltasanta · 22/12/2010 16:26

PS CC Xmas Blush thanks!

RedLentil · 22/12/2010 16:33

Scrabble you say Star? Never heard of it. Grin Sorry for the lack of a card and trimmings. That was down to disorganisation rather than deliberate mysteriosity. Blush

Bibi - feckers, feckers, feckers. Is ignoring them possible? Defo use all the advice you can get here.

We're snowed in here - being in the kitchen yesterday was like being in the centre of a snow globe. It looks lovely, but its very dangerous and dh is driving back tonight and then doing a round trip to Cork again tomorrow. Sad Nothing will persuade him to give in on it.

My dad managed to fly in last night from Birmingham though and so everyone who needs to be here is here for Christmas. I don't think we'll see much of him though as we're doing Christmas day here by ourselves and we have the outlaws from 27th to 30th.

I haven't really been outside the house in a fortnight and I'm starting to lose the will to live. Confused

CrispyTheChristmasCracker · 22/12/2010 16:58

LOL red you couldn't wait to get back into your house and now you need to leave. Never happy eh? WinkGrin. Hp[e MrRed's travels go ok and he is safe back with you for Xmas

salta very Envy of heat

SilkStalkings · 22/12/2010 17:36

Thanks for the cemetery suggestions, told you it was an odd Q. Have an urge to go for a picnic at such a place next summer. I just have an image in my head of being somewhere really peaceful and sunny, looking at the view - what's more peaceful than a cemetery? Although with kids in tow it would be less so LOL. Can always use an excuse to go to Bath (the city view from the fields up Bathwick Hill was breathtaking last summer) and I'm sure everyone benefits from a trip to Paradise.

Red Could your DH be at least persuaded to take eldest child with him? Give you a change and the whingeing might keep his journey shorter than plannedGrin.

We saw my bosses' puppet show of Goldilocks yesterday, DS1 roared with laughter the moment they came on stage, DS2 slept the first half and then bellowed joyfully at every move the puppets made. Was such a funny show, made even funnier by DS1's laughter and my BF on other side of the audience who has noisiest laugh in ChristendomGrin.

santaForCrispyTheCrisp · 22/12/2010 17:53

ho ho ho Xmas Grin

Dear CrispyTheCrisp

I am very pleased to see that Rudolph has arrived safely with your parcel. He seems to have taken the long way round but I do hope you showed him a more direct route back home to me.

If you do find yourself running out of space in your fridge, I will now reveal to you my plan B Xmas Grin

Plan B is as follows:

  1. Open the large present
  1. Discover that there are more presents inside. These are wrapped as well so don't worry about spoiling the surprise.
  1. The cuboid present is the only one that actually needs to be kept in the fridge Xmas Wink
  1. Put the others under your beautifully decorated tree

ho ho ho and a merry Christmas to you

love

Santa
x

ps I see you are wondering how I know your tree is beautifully decorated... Santa can see everything Xmas Wink

pps In case you are a friend of mine on fb, don't even bother searching through everyone's friends to see if they have one of the same surname as the 'sender': the name I used is my friend's maiden name Xmas Grin ho ho ho

CrispyTheChristmasCracker · 22/12/2010 18:11

Ooh, santa you are very very irritatingin covering your sleigh tracks so -well-- cunning and mysterious Grin. Lots of pressies sounds amazing - thankyou Smile

Buckets welcome anytime for a graveyard picnic HmmGrin, but you should realise that in order to get such high views you have to go UP. A Lot. Grin

Neither of the DD's have eaten tea, DD2 had a tantrum getting out of the bath and now DH is minding them whilst asleep. Rather sucessfully it has to be said. I do hope all these illnesses pass soon

blueberrysantabait · 22/12/2010 18:18

DD1 demanded politely requesed mummy made sausage rolls for supper luckily for her I had some readyroll puff pastry and the sausagemeat for the christmas stuffing in, so hot sausage roll all round folllowed buy cheese, guacamole and crackers, yogurt and a pear! DH and I out for dinner tonight with friends but neither of us can really be arsed! We have already cancelled once because DD1 wasn't well so can't cancel again.

Crispy - you secret santa sounds intriguing. Mine is staring at me asking to be eaten! and the little package is confusing the life out of me.

santaForCrispyTheCrisp · 22/12/2010 18:25

ho ho ho Xmas Wink
