aw poor you and your mum memphis so glad your ok hun

Soz i haven't been on ds has been off school due to the shitty bloody snow, on the bright side my girl is getting her first tooth which is causing her a fair bit of pain.

How is everyone? Happy birthday to your dd1 tsc how was the party?

Catch up tomorrow x

DesperateHousewifeIsXmasCrazy · 10/12/2010 08:36

kk yeah thats what I thought, bit boring that they just carry on with their lives, doubt all that many couples do that (unless they already have children separately of course)

Going to the breastfeeding group this morning, then going into town to meet my friend and her baby. She was feeding him weetabix at 5 months old, I didnt think anything of it at the time but suddenly occured to me the other day they shouldnt rewally have wheat before 6 months. Im sure he'll be fine, I wont say anything, dont want to worry her.

Loving all the festive namechanges! must do one myself.
Cakes i browsed further and the difference in the night time one is it has no ring on it. Don't know what difference that would make as the dummy would still fall out of the mouth.
Happy birthday to dd1 for yesterday tsc and to mlic's ds1!
how's the holiday going mlic?

WhatSheSaid · 10/12/2010 17:59

Usual night here, G up 4 times I think. It's actually pretty easy as she wakes, feeds and goes back to sleep within 10 mins and so do I. But at some point I'm going to have to do the whole not-feeding-every-time thing and put up with the crying...not yet though.

Went to dd1's kindergarten Christmas disco yesterday, lots of kids running around, lots of fun. Dd1 and dh are making me breakfast at the moment, something involving bacon and eggs I think as dh is doing the Atkins.

This weekend we are...putting up the Christmas tree this (Sat) morning (first year dd1 has been really excited about it). Then off to a barbeque at friends house this afternoon. No plans for Sunday yet.

kkfairybrains · 10/12/2010 19:11

A barbeque wss!!oh how i'd love to be in new zealand! enjoy brekkie!
Why's it so quiet?! you'd swear people had real life to be getting on with!

Went to breastfeeding group this morning, a new mum joined us. She was quite loud, dont really take to loud people.

Then my friend cancelled on me so went to my mum's house, then we went to my niece and nephews xmas fayre.

CrimboCakeandRoses · 10/12/2010 20:46

Evening all,

Had a reasonable night again - i'm praying A's coming out of the regression - she woke at 5.30 and then again at 7.30 (altho she may have slept longer if she hadn't started escaping DH's crap swaddling attempt by then).

Otherwise, she seems back to her old laid-back self, watching F and me with a look that says "Why the hell don't these two just chill the fuck out?" because we're both quite temperamental and lively, always singing and dancing whereas she just laughs or sleeps her way thru life.

F is being such a sweetheart at the moment, really funny and affectionate and so kind to A - making her laugh and cuddling and kissing her lots. I'm trying to actively notice and appreciate how good he is to get me thru the next batch of teething horror without wanting to throttle him.

Met a friend and another friend's DH at soft play this afternoon - it's actually not too bad a place as soft play goes, has nice coffee and really lovely staff.

I'm not sure what your reason for meeting your friends' DHs was tsc but I feel like I have to take my friend's Dh under my wing now he's off work looking after their DD 2.5 days a week. He's asked to meet up with us nearly every day he's been off so far which is cramping my gossipy coffees with friends somewhat but I'm trying to remember that it must be so hard to meet other parents as a father. Hopefully he'll find his groove soon so i can get back to slagging off men.

We were supposed to be setting off for the inlaws in yorks this evening but F has had a bit of the runs and has been quite clingy today so have decided to go up in the morning if he's back to normal.

dh's has just returned with Inception DVD and popcorn so I'd better post this.

hope you all have a good evening.

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 10/12/2010 21:02

Hello all! I'm too tired to post much after far too much wine and lots of middle of the night wakngs last night. He's been up 6 times a night for the last two nights :( And cried all the way home (as usual) so I couldn't even have 40 winks in the car :(

So anyway, I'm back! Will catch up properly tomorrow. PS glad you're ok after your hairy scarey incident memphis!

Dylthan · 10/12/2010 21:57

Memphis Shock glad your ok. What a horrible scary thing to happen.

mlic hope you had a great holiday can't wait to hear all about it tomorrow.

tsc what a shame dd1 was poorly for her party. Must of been a night for weird shitting. At the 2:30am feed and nappy change Bethan dirtied 3 nappies each time we put a new nappy on she did a shit in it not good dh was close to losing the plot ( he does the nappies)

B was up 3 times last night a slight improvement I'm hoping we're coming out the other side of this growth spurt. She did have a 3hr nap today when we went into town to finish the Christmas shopping so I'm not holding out much hope of tonight being a good night Sad

DesperateHousewifeIsXmasCrazy · 11/12/2010 09:02

Dylan woke at something like 1am, then 4am, then 6am and from then on woke every half an hour, lovely.

Going to battle round tesco this morning, not looking forward to that. Last week was horrible and I felt like I couldnt breathe.

We're still deciding whether to walk round the town's castle as they have a xmas fair thing going on. Id like to but DP isnt so keen, but when are they ever?!

Xmas Smile Xmas Grin Xmas Sad Xmas Wink Xmas Shock Xmas Angry Xmas Envy Xmas Blush Xmas Hmm Xmas Biscuit [fbear]

Just getting into the xmas spirit!

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 11/12/2010 10:38

Well I lost count of the times W woke last night :( On the bright side though, he was sleepy every time he woke so I got him back of with his dummy so he went 10.45pm to 7.30am before he was fed. He had about 5oz then and he's just eaten a bit of porrige (Heinz - much nicer than Organix!). I'm going to attempt the 3mth+ teats today too, see how he gets on as he's still using the 0-3mth ones at the moment.

I've been to Tesco this morning as we had no milk/bread etc after our hols. It was fine. I always think if you must go on a Saturday (I don't unless I absolutely can't help it, I go through the week) then go early. The later it is the more manic it is I find.

How did she sleep after the 3hr nap dylthan?

Morning all,

Have postponed yorks trip again as F still not himself (not really ill but not really well enough for a long car trip etc plus he doesn't know dh's family that well so it would be a bit full on for him)

So we're off xmas shopping to john lewis instead (warm and good baby change!)

The bad news is that dh is thinking he has to still go to see his mum which means a 7 hour plus round trip for him tomo and another day for me having two children clinging to me :-(

tsc your night out sounds lovely

mlic welcome back! Sorry about your crap night.

DesperateHousewifeIsXmasCrazy · 11/12/2010 12:07

tsc how do you stay up that late? I get so tired by 9pm!

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 11/12/2010 12:35

tsc don't pin any hopes on solids making a difference. It's made fuck all difference chez Chaotic :(

CrimboCakeandRoses · 11/12/2010 12:36

tsc isn't reverse cycling where they swap night sleep for day sleep? I never understood that, why wouldn't you just wake them regularly in the day for feeds? I'm almost as 'baby-led' as you get but no baby of mine gets to decide that day is for sleeping!

CrimboCakeandRoses · 11/12/2010 13:11

No, I understand that, I've been there and know the utter shittiness of feeling like you and the bloody baby are the only ones in the world awake (so wish I had you guys then!) I just don't understand it when people let them sleep thru the day. I admit I might be missing something here.

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 11/12/2010 13:25

Well a on a good note - he didn't cough, splutter and generally look like he was going to die with the stage 3 teats :) A little pink in the face maybe, but nothing major! I'm going to stick with them now I think. Whilst he didn't take any more milk than usual, he might start taking more if it becomes easier for him and I've started to introduce porridge from this morningb so that's two small meals a day from now on.

I will get this child to sleep a bit better. I will, I will, I will Grin

CrimboCakeandRoses · 11/12/2010 13:43

Nice one mlic

What's the difference in the teats - do the new ones flow faster?

Is he eating much of the porridge?

MyLifeIsFeelingFestive · 11/12/2010 14:15

I only made a tiny bit of porridge but it went down ok-ish so will keep that up from now on and gradually increase the portion size. The newborn teats are really slow flowing, then 0-3mth are sort of a medium flow and 3mth-6mth are a faster flow. In theory, babies get stronger as they get bigger and therefore suck harder so they need a faster flow otherwise they get frustrated. Obviously my strange son has not gone along with the 'normal' stages due to his problems. He's just over 5 mths and today is the 1st time he's managed a 3mth-6mth teat!

I also wish I had found mumsnet with ds1. It was a hard and lonely time and I really did feel like the only person going through it. Thank goodness I have you lot to moan to for support now :)

Dylthan · 11/12/2010 15:13

Well B went down at 8pm and got up at 2am, 4:40am, 5:30 and then was up for the day at 7am. Not ideal but still at least we're going in the right direction. She's hardly slept today so hopefully she'll sleep even better tonight.

It's been 9 degrees here all day but dh has just been called out to do a grit. Weird but not complaining the extra money is always welcome it was just really unexpected he is going to have to battle through all the football traffic there and back so he will be ages. All our snow melted yesterday so we've gone from having a good few inches to absoulutly nothing. I'm glad to see the back of it but I do secretly hope we'll get a little somthing for Christmas. Xmas Smile
