I dont know who terry hall is either mlic so your not alone! enjoy tsc!
Mlic i dont have the first clue about what to do when starting weaning so cant help there! veggies sound nicer though!

Chulita · 11/11/2010 18:51

mlic dd used to love sweet potato, not that you probably have much of that knocking around. S is pretty good of an evening, usually jolly enough in his bumbo while we eat then I feed him and he's in bed for 6pm or just before. I used to try and spin him out but it was too hard. The only annoying thing is that when dh is on nights I have to leave dd to her own devices while I settle S Confused
And I don't know who Terry Hall is either!

mlic ive been reading on weaning and it says no gluten before 6 months, Lyndon hates the organix baby rice and porridge but i mixed pear with it, sources suggest pear, apple, parsnip and brocolli as first weaning fruit and veg, ive just bought the plum organic fruity porridge its free of atifcial stuff and 50% fruit?!
as for the walker advice they now say, im ignoring it, ive just forked out 85 pounds for a walker, it converts into a static bouncer too just got to wait til santa brings it now!!
right then hope you all have a fab weekend, im off to cornwall at 4am got a passat as a hire car its massive yet ive filled it with baby stuff!! had to take it for a fast drive minus baby in car as it will be sensible mum driving tomorrow!!

no reason, i didnt realise they shouldnt have it then i was telling my mother earth type friend how i was trying to feed Lyndon rusks mixed with milk and she gave me a royal telling off!! Confused, was trying to make helpful suggestions, will stay quiet from now on

CakeandRoses · 11/11/2010 23:25

Grin at mlic's "ah that terry hall"

She's too fecking young, tsc, she's just trying to rub it in. Wink

mlic A's never had the evening evils (whereas F was Colonel Colic). She has a 5 minute meltdown just before she goes to bed about 7.20 and I have to swaddle her and keep putting the dummy in and out so she'll calm down enough to take a feed (kinda odd as bf is supposed to calm babies down!)

Before that she sits in her bouncy chair while I cook and give F his dinner but she's usually happy enough.

(sorry!)

mlic, chulita, dh and any others with babies who like to party: please look away now

Everyone else:

What time does your baby wake up in the morning?

A was going thru from her dream feed (11pmish) til 7am+ (twice it was 7.45am - bliss!) But since the clocks changed she wakes up much earlier, 5.30am usually. She takes a feed then goes straight back to sleep til 8amish but it's still annoying as I'll just get back to sleep when F wakes up (usually 7am+).

I'm not sure if it is the clocks or early 4 month sleep regression or something else.

stac14 · 12/11/2010 09:02

R usually wants a dummy at 3am but now wants fed between 5 and 6 then goes back to sleep till 8ish cakes i have no clue why either, trying to get her out of it.

My girl isnt very well she has been sick and is sneezing like mad so think she's defo in for something. She's sleeping again just now, so no bounce and rhyme for us, which was back on today.

Hows everyone today? X

Dylan slept 11-5! I was amazed when I looked at the clock and feel a bit more human now :)

It may just be a coincidence but he has slept longer stretches the 2 nights DP has rocked him to sleep and put him in bed, its so true that they dont expect milk when they hold them and he fell asleep straight away instead of wriggling like he does with me cos he wants feeding.

Going to the breastfeeding group this morning, better get washed and dressed actually.

Hope you all have a good day!

Spirael · 12/11/2010 09:18

Morning all. :) I survived two days at work! I'm only doing one day per month for the next three months.

Regarding your query, I'm not actually sure, Cake! DH goes to fetch her for her morning feed at 7am weekdays, 7:30am weekends. Sometimes she's asleep, other times she's laying there awake but peaceful. Hmm The clock change actually helped us, as M wanted to sleep in later, but we have to get up to take DH to work!

We seem to be having a bit of sleep regression with M here, but it's manifested in that instead of setting down at 7:30pm she now wakes every thirty minutes or so in the evening and needs resettling, before finally settling for the long haul at some point between 9-10pm. So, uh, I can't really complain. Blush

M's still on just baby porridge here, but you've inspired me to try her with some fruit and veg from the weekend, thank you all. :) Sweet potato sounds like a good idea, Chulita! Do I need to serve it plain (pureed obviously) or can I mix it with a tiny bit of butter and nutmeg?

One question I kept meaning to ask and forgetting... What colour are your LO's eyes at the moment? :) Apparently they're meant to start changing between now and settle and six months, in most cases.

My daughter won't. Stop. Screaming. I really really wanted to go to this new baby group today, but something weird has happened to my girl. Normally she sleeps till 10 after her 7am feed. Today she's just cried all morning.

Spirael · 12/11/2010 10:47

This is probably something you've already tried... But (I think you're BFing?) have you tried latching Gwen on and leaving her there (indefinitely), Needle?

I had a day like that with M a couple of weeks ago and belatedly realised it was a growth spurt after reaching my wits end one afternoon. She fed/howled for about four days solid, then went back to normal. :)

Thanks for the advice, MLIC! I'll try just sweet potato and formula then to start. :) Once I've given her single foods a few times and hopefully found no allergies, then am I ok to mix in other ingredients, one at a time?

stac14 · 12/11/2010 10:51

its something you could keep trying dh anything that gets dylan sleeping longer for you is worth a try hun, enjoy your group

Thanks mlic she's had her bottle and seems less snuffly so hoping it was just her reflux but we'll see. Also think R is like W regarding tongue thrust, ds was a great eater. But feel now i've started i should keep going. Do you just use milk or water to thin the purees?

spireal i had tried r on pureed veg but think i did it to quick as she was gagging or maybe it was too thick Confused but i am going to reintroduce over the weekend.

Do you have gripe water needles just incase its trapped wind? R screams like that sometimes and it tends to be wind. Or could it be her teeth? Hope shes better soon x

kkfairybrains · 12/11/2010 10:54

Oh needle does she have a temperature or anything? has she done a poo?
Mlic i always wondered that about pureeing the food. Do you add anything in when pureeing fruit?and do you just puree the fruit the way it is or cook it some sort of way? These may sound like stupid questions but im really clueless! hows the new bottles going?
ellie is going to the child minder for the first time today! feeling a bit emotional about it! im busy with hair this eve but normally shes with me so its going to be quite weird! Just a half day for now and 2 half days next week.

Woodlands · 12/11/2010 11:10

good luck with the childminder kk! i'm sure you'll mind far more than ellie.

having real problems settling j to sleep at the mo. last night i tried from 8-9pm, but gave up and brought him back through as i had a friend over and j was wide awake. went to bed with him at about 11.30 and again kept feeding him to sleep and then trying to put him down. overand over again. finally fed him to sleep lying down with the help of white noise app on dh's iphone, and didn't dare move him over into his cot. this was at 1am. grr! thought we had got past those days. he then woke at 4am and had a nearly hour long feed which is unusual. at least then i got him back into the cot so could stretch out in bed properly.

j is nowhere near ready for weaning yet, but will be interested to hear you guys' experiences!
