Morning all!

mlic that must have been hard to share with us, Im very sorry you had to go through that. Its v understandable why you are protective of your kids :)

How was everyones night? I want to say Dylan is getting slightly better, his longest stretch was 4 hours, but after that wasnt so good.

My friend had their baby this morning!!! He has sent me a pic and she is just SOO gorgeous. Takes me back to giving birth lol, not that it was all that long ago but its been a long 4 months I think.
I really cant wait to meet her!

Ive got a baby group at 2 today but other than that I think Ill stay indoors, which is annoying but its VERY windy and rainy today.

Hi ladies, i'm alive, thank you for your concern! DH is away for a few days and i've been a total lazy bum. I really ought to learn not to take my eyes off this thread though.
Fizzy, welcome to the thread, I hope you find it as useful as I have.

memphis, good on you for finally getting everyone to pay attention, fingers crossed that you start feeling better soon.

mlic, I'm so sorry that you felt you were being attacked. It's so easy for us all to condemn each others' DPs, but without knowing them, we can't really give sound advice. My dh hasn't changed a nappy since gwen was 4 weeks old and I still don't know what i'd do without him.

I wanted to take gwen for a walk today along the southbank as far as Westminster- its only two bridges down from us, but the weather! It's really vile here in London. I really wanted to hear big Ben strike 11, but don't want to take the baby out when it's like this because she's got a bit of s cough and I haven't been able to get a doctor's appointment yet.

Did some baking yesterday from the red velvet book, white chocolate, raspberry and cinnamon blondie- amazing!

needle Im in Kent and the weather is exactly the same, its going to clear a bit this afternoon, will prob clear from London first. Its such a contrast to yesterday!

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/11/2010 11:02

Im watching the 2 min silence on the tv, its amazing how the entire country is completely silent at the same time!

kkfairybrains · 11/11/2010 11:12

Cakes i didnt say people were being judgemental i said we are maybe sometimes too pushy in what WE think is the right way. Every baby is different and some need solids sooner than others and unless we are with the babies on a day to day basis we dont know. Im not getting into a disagreement about iy as it wasnt my intention to do so i was simply just saying that we are maybe sometimes too quick and pushy with what we think is right or how things should be done as im sure for some babies that early waking etc. May be one of the signs that they are getting ready for solids.
And i dont have the best hv in the world but the info she was giving me was from a chart thing she had on her desk that looked like it was the guidelines.
But i have found this group great for advising on stuff in the whole but just sometimes what the guidelines say doesnt suit every baby or the way we do things doesnt suit everybody.
Im crap with wording things the way i mean them so im sorry if i offended you but i didnt mean it to offend anybody

CakeandRoses · 11/11/2010 11:19

No it's cool kk. No offence taken Grin

Needle · 11/11/2010 11:53

Lol cake.
Gwen has started attacking my boon with the mos terrifying expression on her face, it's so funny, she looks totally manic. I definitely am not thinking about weaning yet though.

dh armistice day always makes me cry, I don't know why, but I get so angry at people who don't observe the silence. It's stopped raining now, so I'm going to take gwen for her walk this afternoon, but I really did want to take her to the cenotaph for 11.

Aw tsc thats too bad..someday!!hopefully he's quiet and you get to stay for the whole lot of it. Men eh!

Chulita · 11/11/2010 12:32

tsc it is just a tiny bit of F's life, for the rest of it he won't need you in the same way. I know you know that and it's no consolation at all but in 15 years time you won't be thinking "frickin' 12 November 2010 I had to take you with me cos you wouldn't stop sucking my tits". Doesn't help though so I'll just wind my neck in now

I've not been on for a couple of days cos dh is on nights which means we do stuff during the day. He was brilliant this morning and took the 2 downstairs and I slept/dozed til 8am...bliss! I've been really knackered the last couple of days and have been falling asleep while feeding/winding S at night. One time he was balanced on the footstool so I could wind him and I nodded off...not safe at all!

mlic I didn't see what you posted but I just wanted to say that I'm sorry if you felt pressured to explain your situation. Text is an awful way to relate and things can be read in a totally different light to the way they were written. Lots of people would see the way dh and I relate and think it's odd but it works for us and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Right, round 4 of toast then I'm hoping to make that coffee/walnut cake from the evil cake book needle made me buy.

My right boob really hurts :( just in the last hour or so, I started feeding Dylan and it felt really bruised, it makes my toes curl to feed him on that side.

Its not the nipple its the entire boob AND nipple and its not in one area its the whole thing, it hurts if its pressed (which isnt good cos Dylan loves pushing his hand into it)

Any ideas??

Hot or cold compress, depending on which feels better, DesperateHousewife? A hot shower might help too. Alternatively, do you have a pump? Maybe try pumping on that side to try and clear it a bit.

Sorry for the short post, at work and meant to be working-! Shock

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/11/2010 13:38

Im not 100% sure but I dont think its mastitis, he feeds regularly and its not got a build up of milk its practically always empty.

Im so fucking tired my head feels like its not attached to my body. Dylan is over tired and wont stop moaning, going to a baby group now but I just feel like punching the people who brag about their 7-7 babies.

CakeandRoses · 11/11/2010 14:23

dh have you got a temp, ache or chills? Can you find a painful lump? If no to those then probably not mastitis (I've had it) but can't think of anything else it could be if you're not engorged.

Also, doesn't have to be caused by a buildup, can also be a bra, top or baby's hand or body pressing the duct.

Oh and try to avoid punching anyone ;-)

mlic that sounds like a bit of a step forward. Deffo agree weaning makes sense.

tsc oh no! Are you sure about not leaving him - its only 2 hours. (Wonders whether to invoke terrifying 14 month thing again)

cakes, tsc I answered no to all your questions so I dont think its mastitis. It may just be Dylan pushing down on it ALL THE TIME and its now bruised.

Also Im pleased to say I didnt punch anyone, but I cant promise anything for the future.

tsc this is how i'd decide whether to take him or not...

do you think you'd be pleased of the break from baldie hanging off your nips or do you think you'd just too be worried about him to relax and enjoy it?

If it's the former then GO! It's two hours! DP and Frankie will cope! It really isn't cruel.

dh i think tsc has it with the kidney diagnosis Grin. seriously, it took me ages to find the lump the first time but I had really bad flu symptoms. second time i think i caught it before the chills etc set in and i knew what to look for lump-wise.

Chulita · 11/11/2010 17:37
