TSC COOL!!!made me feel old that some of u guys dont know who Terry Hall is, how grumpy was he or is it all just a stage face? What exactly was it u went to? Was there any music? Specials are from Cov, not far from where i grew up, thats a really crap claim to fame isnt it!!
WRT weaning, i know nothing! Whats got gluten in it? Do u cook a sweet pot just like a normal one? Surley a whole pot will fill LOADS of freezer pots, what do people use to freeze it in? Good question about fruit KK, i have no idea either. Hope the childminder goes ok, where did u find her? I soooooo need to sort child care out!
I have felt fed up and a bit lonely lately, i love this quality time with Devon but did another KIT day on wednesday, all the way to maidenhead(!) and i really enjoyed it, dot want to give up this special time but dont want to sink to low either. Looking forward to the weekend for some company from DH!!

CakeandRoses · 12/11/2010 12:32

Just had a twenty min nap whilst the babies were napping and I feel dreadful for it. Really shouldn't have bothered.

Not up to much today, not meeting a friend or anyone for a change but it'll be good to catch up on chores.

What are you all up to this weekend? Other than going out for a Thai with my sister tomo night (so looking forward to that) and to an 'artists in action' show either sat or sun day, we don't have any plans. Probably get a takeaway and watch a dvd with dh tonight.

That is bloody cool tsc! We're all going to get over-excited about a new sleb story every time you go out now!

My only link to the specials is naming my cat rudy as a homage to 'a message to you'.

And the only baby/sleb experience so far was seeing Moss from the IT Crowd (we love it) at a gig and getting him to sign an autograph for Felix as his comforter was named Moss in his honour. Not sure Moss was that impressed by that, tbh.

needle has g settled down?

mlic how's w's feeding today?

CakeandRoses · 12/11/2010 12:36

viksam I didn't do the pureeing/freezing stage but friends who did liked those ice cube style tray ones as they're small enough for this stage (can get them in sainsburys).

Chulita · 12/11/2010 12:59

needle how's G doing? When S cries and won't stop I take him out for a walk, he doesn't stop but it's quieter outside and you don't end up getting (quite) as wound up by it.

viks and kkfairy you could do a whole potato or cook some for yourself and save a bit for the LO. With fruit you just boil it til it's soft and then puree - people tend to recommend pear & parsnip mixed together. Fruit tends to be soft enough once it's boiled to not need mixing with anything, same with sweet pot but if it seems thick add some of your LO's usual milk. They don't need spices/flavourings cos they're used to plain old milk and they're tastebuds are not ruined like ours Grin It'll taste bland as hell to you but to them it's like gourmet! and no gluten or egg til 6 months for allergy reasons. hth

DesperateHousewife21 · 12/11/2010 13:07

I was the first one there at the breastfeeding group, it only started to get busy an HOUR in!

I love telling people I got engaged at the weekend though, the reaction is great. Its always "aww congratulations, thats lovely!"

My friend cancelled today, her little boy is cutting his first tooth so havent got anything to do this afternoon, but Im going to go for a walk when Dylan wakes up, Im not staying cooped up in here all afternoon again.

kkfairybrains · 12/11/2010 13:27

Thanks for that chulita! its good to know and felt silly asking!
Vik the woman who's minding her comes to me to get her hair done. She's lovely and loves having fun with the kids and she only has one more and her own so i know she'll be well looked after! i know what you mean about feeling lonely so the KIT days are definately a good thing. Just makes you feel more normal!

Ha! DH just asked me why I didn't bother going back to the bf group here and I said it was a bit of a 'letdown'... made me laugh anyway

Chulita · 12/11/2010 13:47

Don't feel silly asking, we've all had to ask at some point! If you are going down the puree route, see if you can borrow an AK book or get one off ebay. She's a bit patronising (this is how you boil a parsnip...) but has some good ideas for combinations.

tsc check you out Grin good old F pulled through for his mama then!

CakeandRoses · 12/11/2010 14:56

tsc what a sad and amazing life he's had. you and frankie should team up to become a showbiz journos - you'd get all the dirt

spirael Aurelia's eyes are mid-blue but getting lighter all the time as F's did. His are now bright blue but they'll probably end up blue/green as that's what DH and I both have (we're not related, honest!) and mine were bright blue as a child.

mlic that is speedy! Im worried my next one will be like that as this one was reletively short for a first.

Im going to see my friend's baby on Mon, I cant wait Grin it doesnt make me broody yet though, give it a couple more years!

Needle · 12/11/2010 19:08

What a weird day.

Gwen, who usually naps until at least 11am, woke up screaming at 7.30 and grizzled until about 11, when she was suddenly ok. There was nothing visibly wrong, no wind, no pooing, not hungry, not wet. She was a total cherub for the rest of the day and then went to sleep at 5, and is still asleep. I don't know what to do now, because usually this is her grizzly time, and she settles down at around 8, so do I wake her up now and try and put her back down in an hour or so, or leave her and hope that she doesn't wake up ready to play at midnight? Confused

I went to a mum's group today- just a group of NCT ladies who meet in a Pimlico park so that their toddlers can play while they chat with the babies. It took me about half an hour to get up the courage to actually approach them- I kept walking over, chickening out and walking away again- very cool.

How was everyone elses' day?

Needle · 12/11/2010 19:10

Spirael Gwen's eyes are light blue, and unlikely to change as both mine and DHs are blue too.

Chulita How did the coffee and walnut cake turn out?

viksam · 12/11/2010 19:31

Thanks for all the weening info, i do have an AK book but just dont seem to have the time to read it!!
needle Glad u spoke to them in the end, what were they like? We have a nearly new NCT sale here on sat, hoping to get some good stuff, members get in 15mins early so have the pick of the goods!
We have the opportunity to go on holiday to Spain with the PIL next July, does anyone have experience of spain with a one year old, what will he eat?will it be too hot?are the swimming pools clean? It will be an appartement in a place called Alcudia(sp)What does anyone think??

stac14 · 12/11/2010 19:42

evening all, glad gwens ok needles maybe she just felt like a cry. Rileigh seems totally fine now too. It must have been her reflux. She's still sneezing a lot so not sure if somethings working on her.

spireal rileighs eyes are still grey/blue but i am noticing a change dp and i both have hazel eyes so i assume she will to.

Thanks for the info mlic at least she eventually understood and helped rather than going on at you. How did w go with food today?

dh my niece is in her last trimester and it doesnt make me broody just sorry for her lmao. Defo dont want anymore kids, feel i'd be too old

Wow tsc your better than OK! What a crap life he had. Have to admit i dont know who he is either soz Blush

Hows everyone elses day been? I was arguing with dp he just seems to be rubbing me up the wrong way. Men! X

needle I didn't have the right cake tin size so I made in one bigger one and it tastes alright but doesn't have the same texture. I also had to use margarine and Oatly cream for the icing so that doesn't taste as it should but it's still good :) I'm one for not waking babies on the whole but S tends to go to bed around 6pm so if he's still asleep at half 4ish I'll wake him so he can have 90 mins before bedtime.

spirael S has sometimes brown eyes, sometimes grey so I'm not sure what they'll settle as yet. DD's got brown eyes, so have I, DH has grey so brown are winning so far.

viksam at a year he can just try whatever you're having. Tortillas (the potato & egg stuff) is perfect toddler food, really anything goes for 12mths old except whole nuts. I wouldn't worry on the food front. As for heat, it probably will be hotter than he's used to but babies adapt much better than we do, just keep him in a nappy and cover him with a light sheet at night if it's really warm. Most places have fans too in those countries. The pool should be fine too, if you're happy to go in it I'd reckon it'd be fine for him. We went to southern France last year and DD went in the coldest pool, I couldn't stay in it but she was fine! Remember though these hot places do cool down quite a bit at night and you might get problems with mosquitoes. Very Envy, I need to practice my spanish and would love a holiday!!

CakeandRoses · 12/11/2010 20:14

viksam not much to add to what chulita said re: going abroad with a 1yo as what she said matches my experience of travelling with Felix. We went to Florence and Rome when F was 11 months and he loved it - ate his own body weight in pizza and pasta every day Grin

Dh was talking just now about booking a holiday funnily enough but i'm a bit scared of travelling abroad with a young baby and a toddler already Hmm

I seem to have accumulated a small fortune in clubcard vouchers (i put all the household spend on a tesco credit card) and the 'exchange' rate reduces in dec from x4 to x3 so we're thinking it might be worth using them all now on a holiday or airmiles.

stac14 · 12/11/2010 22:00

we havent been abroad since ds was 3, had hols here but thats bout it. Would love some sun. viks ds was fab a bit reluctant to get his sun cream on but food and climate wise he was great. We were in the canaries. He loved the plane too.

chulita cake still sounds nice, put me in the mood for cake now lol

Were you thinking of going on hols cakes?

CakeandRoses · 12/11/2010 22:38

mlic that is so crap re you not going away for the weekend Sad. can see why you've cancelled tho. hope you manage to have fun at home instead.

stac not sure yet - we're still arguing about whether to go abroad so haven't even discussed where! Italy's always my fave but i'm not sure if i'm even up for that right now. i suppose it would be fine with the children, i just don't know if it'll feel like a holiday or just a lot of hard work, packing, travelling, unpacking etc. sigh....

WhatSheSaid · 13/11/2010 07:31

Is it OK if I join the thread?

My dd2 was born 9th July. I was on one of the antenatal threads but aaaaaages ago..

I have an older dd who was 3 in November. Lat few months have been a bit crazy, dd2 was diagnosed with silent reflux at 8 weeks and is on meds for it, seems to be growing out of it a bit now (crossing all fingers and toes here). She has never once slept for more than 3 hours at a time since she was born so it's all been quite exhausting. Dd1 has been a star with her and she is absolutely gorgeous...now if only she would sleep a teeny bit longer...

DesperateHousewife21 · 13/11/2010 08:45

Welcome whatshesaid! My ds was born on the 9th July too :)
I think I remember you from the antenatal thread actually.

Anyone got any exciting plans today? I havent, Im going to be bored I can tell.
