Hello! How is everyone? Dd is finally sleeping in her own bed - yay!

Don't worry, northstar, it happens to everyone. In fact, I don't know anybody who's baby hasn't wriggled off something or tripped down some stairs.
They are getting so strong now aren't they?

myermay thankgod I am not the only mad one here! I have tickets for Manchester 6th May and 21st May!!! OMG dh is coming with me on the 21st!! He originally bought tickets for me & my friends for the 6th but then felt left out and confessed that really he wanted to go as well! LOL. So more tickets were ordered!!!
I am really excited and have told dh it will be a show to see! Hope they don't let me down . Never mind the whistles I will be on the stage after Howard and Mark & ...I can't believe how much I feel like a school kid!!! I'm 26 fgs!!!!

Maddison · 03/12/2005 14:02

lol shhhh, love your christmas name! I can't think of anything for mine so suggestions are more than welcome!

mm i'm glad your ds is on the up, my ds2 had a cold a few weeks ago and could hardly breathe while he was feeding, i can't imagine what it was like for matthew with an ear infection.

i WILL NOT be going to see take that, iwas more an east 17 gal myself but i hope you both enjoy it (sounds like you will)

well its ds2's christening tomorrow, we're just having the party at our house afterwards. we were going to hire a big hall and have a large do, but that's not like us, so we've decided to just go small and have family and a couple of friends at home.

christmas shopping is going rather well, we have all of (spoilt) ds1's presents and the nieces and nephews, and a few for ds2 so want some more for him, then we just have to buy for adults. not sure when we'll fit that in or where we'll put them but i'm sure we'll find space and time lol.

has anyone got their tree and decorations up yet? if so what do your lo's think of them? i can't wait to get ours up but i think we'll leave it for another week. maybe

logic · 03/12/2005 18:22

Hello everyone :-)

Dd is eating 3 meals a day now which is nice: fruit, vegetables and anything she can take off our plates. We need to reduce her milk down to 20 floz a day though which is really hard going.

Hope the Christening goes well tomorrow, Maddison. Dd's is the 18th and I've bought her a stunning Christening gown and cake I intended to have a few people round to the house afterwards but I've sort of Bridget Jonesed it and now I have to cater for about 40!

Tree and decs are up but ds thinks it is Christmas every day. He keeps asking for toys from adverts too which I thought I'd avoid for another few years...

hello everyone, hope you're all well and babies are all getting better from the horrible cough/cold that all the little ones in the whole country seem to have come down with lately!!.

ds is alot better and is using his glasses as a teether. thank goodness they get repaired for free .

uwila · 05/12/2005 12:25

Hi everyone. Our Christmas tree is up and most of the shopping for the kids is done. Just got toys and clothes, etc. DD (2 1/2 yrs okd) was baptised on Sunday too. We're a bit slow. We took her godparents, our nanny, and DH's brother to apub for lunch afterwards. It was casual, but nice.

Logic, how much drink do you provide? DS was eating 3 meals, but then we noticed he was getting a bit constipated as he wasn't getting enough liquid. So we cut back on the food this weekend.

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 05/12/2005 16:47

Hi All,well dd has got a bed full of pressie from "santa" so far! We couldn't help ourselves!! We now need to start on friends and family's presents!!

Hopefully our home should look more christmassy from next weekend as we should have a tree by then.

BTW on the weaning side of things [whisper emotion so dd doesn't hear], dd is doing really well. She is on 3 meals aday. Beakkie and milk, lunch is fruit or veg and meat and dessert and milk and dinner is the same as before. DD then has a bottle last thing at night. She was having problems going iykwim a few weeks ago. She was going but it was a struggle..bless...We just changed what she was having as I though maybe to much fruit or certain fruits were not helping her. She has x4 6oz (total 24oz) bottles a day but usually drinks a total of 18-20oz's a day which is about right. Needs to be around a pint of milk a day as per hv. BUT for those of you worrying about the amount dd or ds is having don't forget that yoghurts count towards this amount. DD loves yoghurts and has about x2 peti filous (sp?) aday!!! She does have extra "juice/water" after a meal but isn't drinking a huge amount.

Uwila following on from what you said about your ds...do you give him his food after a bottle..? We do as if we don't dd wouldn't drink anthing! We usually have to hide her food as well until she has finished her bottle! LOL!! Little rascal.

TBH I am not stressing with what she is/not eating/drinking as I know she is putting on weight and is looking healthy. At one stage I was so stressed by what the hv were saying that now I just ignore them ...well when they are saying stuff I don't agree with anyway .

Hope everyone else is going ok...?

logic · 06/12/2005 13:16

Dd drinks about 24 floz a day but we really need to cut out half a bottle again. She is on progress milk now though. We give a bottle before meals otherwise she won't touch the food, she has to be a bit full first. I give her the occasional bottle of juice or water too.

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 07/12/2005 22:52

Logic I really wouldn't be to worried about the amount dd is having fluids wise..the way I see it is if they want it they will have it... The only reason we are on smaller feeds with dd is because she started to take less at each feeds about 6 weeks ago.

BTW does anyone know what stage I move onto with dd and moving onto solids..? I'm happy to continue as we are but don' want dd to get bored etc. She has tried a variety of foods pureed and is having 3 meals aday with a total of 4 bottles. (6oz). She has 2 meals that are main and dessert. She has also started to eat more "solid" foods ie stuff thats roughly chopped...meat,veg,fruit etc. She manages these ok but is very slow to eat them (expected when you only have 2 teeth !! )..what now..? DD also has the odd "treat" during feeds. Like a bit of fruit or veg or a biscuit although this is not a regular thing...
I have read about bottles being stopped by the time dd is 1yr...I'm not stressing about this but need to know how do you even start this.? Should dd be on less bottles? How do you move onto a feeding cup? (dd has juice/water out of a trainer cup and is okish) do you use these for milk feeds ?? Doesn't sound right to me but....Any experienced mums who can advise me..????

Maddison any ideas for your christmas name..been racking my brain..!??

LittleHollyBerry · 08/12/2005 14:41

Shhhhsantaiscoming, I know what you mean. dd has 3 x 7oz bottles, bottle at 6.30, 9.30 breakfast-fruit puree and baby cereal/readybrek or weetabix and milk, veg and meat and yoghurt at lunch, milk at 3ish, fruit at 5ish and bottle at 7. She will sometimes take some juice or water in a cup, but when I tried to do this with her milk she tried to drink it too quickly and coughed and spluttered. She also has occasional snacks, cheese, biscuits etc. I'm trying to combine her first bottle of milk and breakfast, and then I think she'll need a mid-morning snack. I didn't know they should be off bottles by 1 year, my two year old nephew still has one at bedtime. What other routines do peoples babies have. With dd's so spread out, I give her a bottle or food every 2-3 hours, which makes it hard when we go christmas shopping, would like to know what the rest of you do. She doesn't have any teeth yet though!
I'm really looking forward to our first christmas with her, although I think she'll be more interested in trying to eat the wrapping paper than any of her pressies!

logic · 08/12/2005 20:34

Hi Shhhh, I wouldn't worry too much about bringing dd off bottles. Ds had a night-time bottle until he was 2 and I really feel now that I should have kept it going a bit longer! You are doing brilliantly at the weaning. I think at about 7 months they can have slightly lumpier food. I've tried dd with the tiniest of lumps and she does a cat-bringing-up-a-furball impression which is completely OTT. She is such a drama queen because she gets the occasional chocolate button and she doesn't choke on them. Funny that.

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 09/12/2005 08:35

Logic LOL at the "furball" description! DD is exactly the same!! She looks at me and her tongue is out and she kinds of heaves! I just tell her to chew it and she won't be sick..for some reason it usually works! Madness!! It must be some way of getting our attention .!!!

Me & My dad are off into town now for the yearly christmas shop...god help us as dd is coming with. I hope she isn't as grumpy as she was on tuesday when I had to go in..I agree with you lhb, when feeds are still regular and they start crying ect it's hard work!!
Oh well...here goes....

sorry for the duplicate x

Maddison · 09/12/2005 16:51

hi everyone hope you and babies are all well.

well ds2 has been to his first ever christmas party today he was as good as gold, the music didn't even bother him (so why won't he sleep through me hoovering?!) he even sat on santas knee and had his picture taken with him, which the orgsnisers made into a calendar which i thought was nice. he got a little pressie too and really enjoyed chewing the wrapping paper! he was a little bit sick on the way home which was pink, and i thought 'what has sil been feeding him?' when i went to clean it up, yes you've guessedit, it was wrapping paper i shall have to be very careful on christmas morning lol!

he has his paed appointment on monday afternoon, i thought it was about weaning him as he isn't keen on solids (except fruit and other sweet things) but the letter says it's for a medical, so god knows what they are going to do.

it's also ds1's Christmas play at school on Monday, and i can't wait!!!!

apologies for not using caps, but bfing 22lb 11oz ds2 as i type!

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 09/12/2005 17:31

maddison bg still welldone welldone welldone! I managed till about 5 months and I wish I had carried on but I think now and then what it would have been like bf dd...I can't picture it! She won't keep still for a bottle feed and is nearly the size of me .

Aww bless about the christmas party, even more so over the wrapping paper! I will watch dd with it on christmas morning. Well we haven't seen santa yet but will defo see him soon as dh is having a days hol from work next week. We have got a letter from santa though !!! Im more excited than dd!!

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 09/12/2005 17:32

sorry meant to say bf....

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 09/12/2005 17:57

brighteyes

logic · 10/12/2005 23:08

Poor Brighteyes That is horrible, just before Christmas too.

Ds had his first pre-school Christmas party on Friday too and seeing his little face light up when Santa arrived was magic.

Just been to weight dd and she is....19lb 2oz!! .... She is 30 weeks...take it I must be doing something right... If only I found it as easy to loose this amount of weight .

Hows everyone else..?? DD is off to see santa at Daisy and Tom on Monday. Dh & I are taking her shopping..we are more excited than dd.!! Logic I can' wait till dd is more aware of santa like your ds was this year..I love christmas. Just wish my pnd didn't put such bad spirits on it now and then. x

logic · 16/12/2005 18:08

Hello everyone :-) Hope everyone is in the Christmas spirit.

The last few days for me have been rubbish but it can only get better. A few days ago, we bought a ton of frozen food for the party on Sunday. Last night there was a power cut that lasted all night, so we now have to throw away the entire contents of two freezers grrr. I also managed to burn my hand with boiling molten wax putting out a candle. It was ds' school show today and he was a nightmare. I spent the whole play in front of everyone trying to get him to behave and wishing the floor would swallow me up and I have a stinking cold.

Sorry, rant over :-)) Hope everyone else is looking forward to a lovely Christmas with their babies. Dd is getting so much more aware of things now it's lovely.

OP posts:
SHHHHsantaiscoming · 17/12/2005 04:41

logic sorry to hear about the last few days..hope things are improving for you...Yeah I agree,dd is also doing so mich more and is aware of so much more that it is nice. We put up the christmas decorations last week and she loves watching the lights etc!

The last week hasn't been the best for me due to pnd but i'm on medication now and feel positive. We are off to take dd to santa on monday and I am so looking forward to it.

BTW I can't believe it's 4.30am and I am wide awake!!!! DD has been waking during the night all week and I have been shattered, tonight she is sound asleep and I am wide awake...???????????????????????????????????????????

LittleHollyBerry · 18/12/2005 12:06

Logic, I can sympathise, dd and I have both had a horrible cold, its so much harder to look after them when you are feeling ill too, and I've just started back at work which has been hard. We're both feeling alot better now though. My sympathies go out to Brighteyes, it must be really hard for her.
Shhhh dd is the same 30 weeks and now 18lb 5oz, almost triple her bithweight too. She had her 6-9mth check she did fine except it took ages for her to swap a block from hand to hand as she kept staring at the HV's glasses!
Can't wait until Christmas with her, it'll be nice to have dp around more too.

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 18/12/2005 18:21

6-9 month check...??? I haven't heard anything about this..? What happens.? Now you mention it I vaguley remember the hv saying at about 4months that she won't see me till dd is about 7-9 months...Do I arrange this or is it done automatically.? Glad all went well at it. It's amazing to see them changing so much.
We finally got to see a friends ds who is 5 weeks old..oh my god dh & I couldn't believe that dd was once like him. . He seems so tiny and fragile..so dependant..not like the little person we have now !!!!

logic · 18/12/2005 22:29

lol shhhh, re: lying awake, it happens to every parent I think - you get so used to getting up in the night to them that it's automatic!

I hope you feel better for Christmas. The ADs do take a while to work but they do work!

Don't worry about the check, the HV should contact you about it. Ds never got his - thanks to the rubbish HVs - but I am determined that dd will! All they do is check a few development things, whether they are attempting to babble, holding bricks and where they are regarding sitting up, rolling etc... They all progress at different speeds and nobody panics. In fact, my GP said that it's always the parents that know if there's a real problem.

Had dd's Christening today and it was lovely. Everyone squeezed into the house afterwards quite easily. We now have a ton of leftover cake and champers to consume though.
