Hello! How is everyone? Dd is finally sleeping in her own bed - yay!

Don't worry, northstar, it happens to everyone. In fact, I don't know anybody who's baby hasn't wriggled off something or tripped down some stairs.
They are getting so strong now aren't they?

Hello LucyKate!

Shhhh, 14lb 7oz! Fantastic! Dd has been ill again so not gaining weight so fast. She loves having a morning rusk though and rice pudding for tea.

I'm probably not going back to work until dd is at school. I find it difficult being at home with two but it would be worse with the stress of working added on.

Hi Lucykate! Trying not to be jealous of only 10 minutes pushing

Not pg - tfft! Woke up one morning earlier in the week and was as sick as a dog. Went back to bed trying not to either cry or panic and then period came. What a relief!

Dd 15 weeks tomorrw and only just 10 1/2 lb. Sweet petite!

hi myermay, the meet-up was fun. I met Teabelly and PinkArjuna from the June thread whom I hadn't spoken to before.

Ds was supposed to start pre-school yesterday but s*dding typical, he came down with a virus and high temp the day before so he had to miss it. It's not his fault but I do feel a bit because I don't want him to lose the place. Also, it's his birthday tomorrow and that's going to be jolly, not. Sorry, feeling a bit down today. Dd has relapsed because she had this virus too so I'm back to running on 4 hours sleep a night. Plus, I've spent the whole day on the phone screaming at GOSH because they've really screwed up her appointment - again.

Logic, sorry to hear you are having a bad day..it happens to us all..well it certainly happens to me thats for sure! Someday I'm so so so happy and others i'm really down for no reason. Things get ontop of me and I think to far into the future..My pnd seems to be improving although somedays I don't feel like that.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for you, sending you hugs {{{}}}
I hope ds is feeling better soon.

I bought dd a Bumbo seat today. Not sure if any of you have seen them..? BUMBO ,I bought ours from Kiddicare for £26.99. dd sat in it today for the first time! She was like queen bee.! IMO its a good buy as apparently it can be used as a feeding chair and also somewhere to sit baby when you have your arms full etc. It seems to have given her a smile knowing she is sitting up on her own . DD sat in it tonight and was watching tv, looking like she was sat on a settee! Ha!!!!

logic · 09/09/2005 21:23

Hi Shhhh, thanks. hug I have made the decision to stop the ADs because they aren't touching the pnd but I'm still getting the side effects. I'll see the doc next week and decide what to do next then. I'm giving up bfing too.

That seat looks really good. I've got a graco swing for dd and it lets her sit up and she loves it. I think they want to see what is going on now! Dd was watching thunderbirds on the telly this morning.

ABow · 09/09/2005 21:52

We've got a bumbo too. Best buy so far IMO. Dd loves it and has been watching the cricket on TV. As you say - its a baby sofa! but she detests being put into a bouncy chair.

Dd also loves her nest and will quite happily sit in it for upto an hour entertaining herself.

lucykate · 09/09/2005 22:03

thanks for the nice welcome. i started a 'today could change our lives' thread this morning. i'm pleased to say it has!.....dh has been offered a really good job, we have to move but it will be worth it.

not a case of deciding whether to go back to work anymore, i can't now, what a real shame

shhhh - i am one of those people who would really like to stay at home and am really glad.

on the bumbo thingys, we've got one too. never had one for dd as they weren't around when she was little. ds can only sit in it for a few minutes at a time, then his head starts to droop, but he does like it. he's desperate to sit up and i've read they are supposed to help them learn balance

hollya · 10/09/2005 21:39

hi everyone, glad all the mums and babies are doing well! alice is fine and almost 16lbs - she is a big bruiser!!

lol at all the dribbley teethers - alice goes through about 4 or 5 bibs a day plus a couple of changes of clothes, she just soaks everything with her drool. it's such a shame to put a lovely pretty dress on her and then have to put on a horrid bib!

she is 16 weeks today and have started weaning, mainly because she is making my boobs really sore! she drains me, then have a couple of ounces of formula. she's a very hungry girl! also am trying to see if a bit of solid food will help her sleep through the night, she still wakes for food at least twice and i may have to go back to work soon so need my sleep!

alice loves her bumbo, she sits in it for ages just playing with her hands and watching tv.

logic my dd also fell off the sofa the other day, it was horrible. she was fine, just a bit shocked i think. i left her fast alseep on the very back of the cushion and ran into the kitchen to get a drink and i heard a bump and screaming. she was lying face down on the floor. i have absolutely no idea how she managed it, but i felt like such an awful person!

dd has her 3rd set of injections next week, i can't bear it. last time she was so upset that i burst into tears too!! i'm making dp take an hour off work so he can take her, he's a bit more hardcore than me!!

logic · 10/09/2005 22:27

hi hollya - it's horrible when they fall isn't it? We daren't leave dd in anything other than a cot now. We have set up the travel cot in the lounge as a safe place to put her.

Had a terrible fright this morning. Ds still had a fever last night and woke up this morning with a temp of 40.9, delirious and clutching the back of his neck! We rushed him off to the GP service at the hospital who sent him up to the paediatrics ward. They thought it might be meningitis but eventually decided it was a throat infection (hence the bad neck). He had to have anaesthetic cream all over his arms in case they needed to take blood and had a chest x-ray and they finally allowed him home mid-afternoon. What a way to spend your 3rd birthday! He opened his presents, went to sleep, woke up and puked all over our bed. Poor kid. Seems better now though.

Can I join in?? I've read some of these posts but never got round to introducing myself....
Right, I'm 31 & live in Tunbridge Wells. Am married with one DD (born 19th May) - so 16.5 weeks. She was 9.7 and had a natural waterbirth - thanks to my fantastic doula & hubby. Will be going back to work mid-Jan as a project mgr for an investment company. Will be so different to being at home with my little girl. She never got the hang of latching on so I exclusively pump. Got into the routine of doing it now so don't think too much about it - still feel like a dairy cow at times! Just wish my local hospital had a milk bank so I didn't fill my freezer when overproducing!
DD is dribbling lots with hands continually in her mouth. She loves her Bumbo but only manages a few mins at a time..
Anyone else in West Kent?? Enough of my rambling!

Logic - hope your DS is okay - poor little mite.

logic · 11/09/2005 21:40

Thanks Shivs and welcome. Waterbirths are lovely aren't they?

Thanks for the advice about getting dd off to sleep, some days she's great, others are harder, but they're all like that! Welcome to lucykate and Shivs. Don't know how much dd weighs now, but will get her weighed tomorrow. She also has a bumbo, and likes it for a few minutes but then gets bored, I'm planning on using it lots when I start weaning her though as she won't go into her high chair for a while yet, not weaning yet though as she seems ok now she's on 7oz bottles. I'm going back to work in January, 2 1/2 days a week. I've got mixed feelings about it as I know I'll miss dd lots and I love being at home with her, but we do need the money (huge mortgage!) and I do enjoy my job and work with a nice bunch of people so I'm sure it will be ok. DP's mum will look after dd when I work during the day (she's really looking forward to it) and dp will have her evenings and weekends (I work variable hours). Shhh and Logic, hope your pnd improves soon, sorry to hear about your ds Logic, but glad he's ok now. Hope everyone else is well.

logic · 12/09/2005 21:26

It's nice that your dp's mum can look after dd, littleb. My pnd is better thanks, mostly because I have stoped taking the ADs. They were making me far, far worse!

Hi everyone and welcome to shiv. Looks like we were right in buying dd a bumbo!! Seems virtually everyone has one! LOL noone I know here at home has ever heard of one!

Logic,do you find that you have up & down days..? Im not on medication but some days I'm so happy & feel life is so good and then other days (like today) I feel so so low....It's not just one thing that is making me down but I feel like everything is getting on top of me. Its not always thing upsetting me that should be iykwim...little stupid things dig away and drain me. Its madness as I know tomorrow I will probably be the opposite? I know yu have stopped the medication but how do you feel? BTW glad to hear ds is better.

Lucykate, i'm glad all is going well at your end. Its nice when good things happen. At least you had the decision made for you about being a sahm!!!

Hope everyone else is doing ok??

logic · 13/09/2005 16:48

I get up and down days too Shhhh, but at least I now feel that there is hope for the future and that I will get better. I feel more in control without those tablets and I am getting more sleep which helps.

Hi everyone, welcome to Lucykate and Shivs1974

I've only had time to skim over some of the posts as DS1 (aged 4.8) kept nicking the computer over the holidays! He started school last week but got a call from them yesterday cos he'd been sick(aaawww) he's ok now though and has gone back today It's weird now though with just me and DS2 - he had his last lot of jabs yesterday and I'm pleased to say he cried for about 10 seconds after each then he was right as rain!!! And at 17 weeks he weighs 17lb 14oz and is on the 91st centile!

We're still breastfeeding (& DH has started calling me Jersey ) and I'm going to try to introduce some solids so wish me luck

Love to all mums and babies

logic · 14/09/2005 20:37

Ds started pre-school yesterday and it went so well that I didn't even have to stay.

I have finally got dd a paediatric consultant appointment for her birthmark! It's on Monday at the Portland (long story but I will be making a formal complaint against GOSH). I will let you know how we get on. Fingers crossed that she doesn't need laser treatment.

dh and i are a bit worried about ds, he's 16wks on fri, and is just not interested in feeding. he's always been difficult, hence the move to bottles, but it's getting worse. here's his daily menu :

7.00am - first bottle of day, 6ozs in it. he has about 2/3 then looses interest.
11.00am - again, 6ozs, has about 3 no problem, then its a fight to get him to have any more
2.30 - has about 3/4, any more that that, he spits it out
6.30 - bottle before bath and bed, tonight he had 3, then again its a fight to get him to have the rest
10.30pm - dream feed, has about 3/4, but am going to try not feeding him tonight and see if it makes him hungrier during the day.

am i worrying unneccessarily?, but if you count up how many fluid ozs he's having a day, its nowhere near the reccomendation for his weight. his weight gain has now started dropping (going to baby clinic to see hv tomorrow to get him weighed and talk to her about all this)

with dd, she was so much hungrier and the amount of milk she was having gradually increased until weaning. i'm baffled with ds as his milk intake is less now than when he was newborn. has anyone else having feeding problems?

Missblossom · 15/09/2005 07:04

Morning all.

How is every one, making the most of the hot weather. Hopefully it will last for next week too as we are going away for a week to Skeggy on saterday. Cant wait, Im more excited than the kids!!!

DD4 started full time school last week and is enjoying it, but if you ask her how her day was, she says she didnt do any thing and she didnt eat her packed lunch and the teacher hates her and she hasnt made any friends. But if you ask her individual questions she will tell you thnat she has done and that and that she played with xxxx in the home corner.
DD1 has got into 6 form, so all 4 are out all day, just me and the baby at home, its bliss.

Luca had his second lot of jabs last week, a bit late but he was covered in heat rash last time he went so they didnt do it just in case it wasnt. Also had him weighed he is now 18lb 8 1/2 0z and is in 6 to 9 months clothes when he is in his pram his feet are touching the end. (Ive got a mothercare 2 in 1 Menza).
He prefers to sit up facing away from me because he is scared that he might miss something!!

Lucykate could it be the weather thats affecting your DS? When its really hot all Luca really wants is juice.
Dont really have any feeding problems just that if I dont get his solids smooth enough he gags.Like last sunday every spoon full he kept gagging, all my MIL kept saying was "he dont think much of your cooking does he" Go I hate that woman so much. Anyway before I get started on her Im going just talking about her makes me want to punch her face in.

uwila · 15/09/2005 12:52

Lucykate,
I think that eating is perfectly normal. My dd (now 2 1/2) was exactly the same and still is. She eats about 1/4 to 1/2 of what other kids her age eat. I've accepted that she's just a small eater. SO long as she gets the right variety of nutrition I leave quantities up to her (within reason).

I think if you can see a bit normal baby pudge surrounding the little thighs then they are eating enough. I just can't get too worked up about a bunch of silly charts.

DS, incidentally, does not appear to be much like her. He eats every four hours and drinks his 7 ounces. He's not fat, but I wouldn't say he's skinny either. Just looks like a normal baby so I don't worry too much about figures on the formula carton of the HV charts.

lucykate · 15/09/2005 18:16

thanks for the message uwila, he's been weighed today, 14lbs 2oz, his weight gain has slowed a bit but he's ok for his age. hv thinks his gums are bothering him and the bottle is agrivating it. so have decided, as my 3yr old dd tells me, to take a chill pill mum!, and not worry, he's fine.

LittleB · 16/09/2005 16:20

Lucykate, sounds like he's doing ok to me, Megan is 14lb 1oz and she's 18 weeks, she's gained alot though as she was only 6lb 10oz when she was born. She has days when she leaves some of most of her feeds, I think they often go through growth spurts when they get really hungry and then slow down for a while. She's a bit grumpy today as she's just had her 3rd lot of injections, at least those will be the last for a few months, I hate seeing her in pain. Good luck with your dd's appointment logic. Hope everyone else is ok.
