Hello. Just a quick one to let you know I am still alive.

Happy Birthday to N. Sorry I missed it Myjob.
Ksal. I hope you are holding on in hospital. You are almost there. If I miss your birth good luck in advance. My friend had a 33week delivery and when baby came out of special care 10 days later she had no trouble BFing if that helps you at all.

Things are shite here at the moment. I am struggling to hold everything together. Which is so unlike me that I am very unsure how to deal with myself.
I dont want to depress you all so wont go on about it.

Pistachio. I am really annoyed with myself for being unable to meet you. I hope your weekend was productive.

Ronshar :( Please do go vent a bit on our closed fb group. We are all here for you. I'm so sad for you and you've been there for me a million and five times!

Don't worry, ronshar, I'm sure my american non-stop rambling on made up for you not being there. lol. Pistachio is really exciting, though - so she's lying Wink. Honestly, I could listen to her talk all day. Love her beautiful accent. :)

Ronshar - Please vent. It will help to get it out in some way and there is NO way you will bore us. You've been pretty rock-like for lots of us in the past. Time to return the favour.

We had a yummy take away for DH's birthday but he was at work so that's it. I was going to make him all his favourite foods on Saturday as his present but he decided to agree to go to a stag do without checking first. So that has been postponed.

Sorry to hear things are so bad Ronshar. I echo what the others have said. We're here (or on fb) if you need us.

KSal - I've been wondering how things are going. Weren't the doctors going to make a decision on Thursday?

Loulou - I really hope it went well today (it was today wasn't it?).

I'm good. Busy planning S's birthday. Having a small tea party for some of his friends on the Friday. I asked him where he wanted to go for the day as a treat at the weekend and he said he wanted to visit one of his friends who's just emigrated to NZ. We're settling for London Zoo instead.

50ftQueenie · 24/09/2010 20:44

Oops.... Posted early.

Loulou - Well done Jo. I don't think M will pass her two year check, if she has one. My HV hasn't been in touch since M was 6 weeks old. I was going to take her to be weighed today, but decided to go to the park instead. DH later told me that the building the drop-in clinic was held in has been demolished! Great, good job they kept people informed then.

Myjob - Glad N had a good birthday. I didn't bother saying Happy Birthday on here as I had already said it twice. Wink

Star - You are not a bitch. Not be any stretch of the imagination. M can never tell me properly where pain is. I often see accidents which means I know exactly where she's been hurt, so I know how wrong she gets it sometimes. If Q was confused about where the pain was, there is no way he could effectively communicate that to you.

Pistachio - How much more training do you need to do before you're all qualified? My training is on hold due to funding issue and timing issues for me. PLus I need to have a proper think as the course is SO heavily about counseling with one (I think) module of breastfeeding knowledge.

CF - I will look to apply to Christchurch as I am VERY lucky to have them right on my door step. Sorry to hear of your child-minding woes. Hope you manage to get something sorted. You'll be surprised how quickly they adjust at this age, so if you do need to find a new CM S will be fine.

Argh! I am so forgetful.

Loulou - I hope you're home now. I really hope that you had keyhole surgery and didn't have to endure the laparotomy. Let us know how you are.....

Myjob - I totally omitted to say Happy Birthday to N! I'm glad she had a lovely day. Will check out the fb pictures.

KSal · 25/09/2010 12:26

Hi all. sorry for silence have been waiting around a lot at the hospital because they are just so busy at the moment. i have a little boy called Orin, 6lb 15oz. had my waters broken yesterday followed by drip and labour was 40 mins. was all a bit hairy as his cord was caught round his neck and he was having big decelerations. they brought the trolley in with all the scary kit on it but i got him out quick. am over the moon and hanking my lucky stars that he is ok. probably stuck here for another day while they monitor my blood pressure.

so far so good with the feeding... he is at least keen.

sorry for not responding to anything i havent caught up yet. x

Congratulations KSal! So glad it all turned out well. A great weight for 37 weeks. And a lovely name. Well done!!

Honeymoonmummy · 25/09/2010 22:37

Congrats ksal and happy birthday n! Sorry I've not been on, had a manic few weeks at work, working 8 am till 10 pm most days for past fortnight, not good when you're PG ... Nearly 4 months already eek! Work will be bad again next week then I'm hoping it will calm down a bit .... [hmm thinks wishfully ... ] hope you're all ok x

Coconutfeet · 26/09/2010 08:51

I hope you're still managing to get some rest HMM! You'll do yourself in if you're not careful. Smile

50ft - I meant to say before that I'm sure you're right about children adjusting to change. I think S will be fine. TBH I think my concerns are more about my own guilt at him being there for such a long day. I've got 100% confidence in my current CM, and I just need to find someone else I feel the same about Not that easy, as I live and work in quite a deprived part of London and the quality of childcare round here is very variable. I have friends in more affluent parts of town that have a huge choice of fantastic nurseries and CMs. (Anything less than great just wouldn't get the business and would close down.)

I've heard Christchurch is very good. Are you planning on doing a PGCE full time or part-time? I would seriously consider doing it part-time over two years, as you also have children - I think that was an option at Christchurch IIRC.

Star - How are Q's teeth? Any better.

Oh wagamama :) mmmmm
Lentil shepherd's pie? How did I miss that? Anyone have a few mins to type that recipe? Also watching with interest for other one ppt ideas. Had ratatouille the other night at someone's house - mmmmm delicious with rice.

I was moaning about not liking my fat this morning and dh said "well I think you're fine but if you don't like it... Do something about it!" so... Will shred soon.

50ftQueenie · 26/09/2010 14:29

Star - Saw this and thought of you..... www.themidwifenextdoor.com/?p=1176

I second the Mmmmmmm Wagamama. I love the tofu rice dish. And fat, pah.... What fat? (But I know that no matter what anyone else says, it's how you feel about yourself that matters).

CF - Ah, I see. I can imagine it must be difficult to find a CM that you're completely happy with. The nursery DS went to used to be fabulous, but the turn over rate is astonishing now and the staff seem like they are barely out of nappies themselves. When it's one person responsible for the care of your child the decision must be even tougher. Hope you can work something out that you're all happy with. I am definitely going for part-time, the additional bonus of opting for pt is that the course is at the medway campus! Grin
