Happy Birthday Naomi!! :) :) What are you doing for her birthday?

I won't be having anything to sort out for Q's birthday... can someone help me? What should I do? He really likes one little girl that cm has 3 mornings per week (she's 3) but I don't know her parents...
We have playdates with another little boy who is 2.8 (he's the one who hands down his clothes) and they are lovely... but what would I do?

We were going to have cake, give him some presents, skype the grandparents and have a special day out all together. His birthday is saturday, mine is on sunday. :)

I got Dh a handmade tie clip with Q's fingerprint in the silver and his name with xxx on it for his birthday (a special shop near us does this) - it cost £66. This morning, he put it on and now he can't find it. He thinks it may have come off when he was taking the rubbish out this morning :( Angry
I hope they still have the clay imprint of his finger because it fit perfectly at the time.... I know it's just a material object but I'm annoyed that he could be so careless....
then again, if it were me, I'd be saying "but people make mistakes... I'm sorry..." ugh. I need to just be sympathetic and not Angry

happy birthday Naomi!

star for emma's birthday dh hosted some friends and their children for a lunch thing. sandwiches cake etc and emma had a fab time. it was fairly low key but enough that emma knew it was a special day and had fun so it sounds like what you are planning is perfect.

still here ticking along... 37weeks tomorrow so then we will discuss methods of delivery by the end of the week.

thanks for the reassurance re feeding loulou. sorry to hear that you are under so much stress.

KSal · 21/09/2010 13:21

by the way i have a friend that makes handmade silver finger print jewellery and does mail order. shamless plug but if anyone wants info let me know Grin

StarExpat · 21/09/2010 13:35

I may need to use her if he doesn't find it, Ksal as I'd be embarrassed to go back to this place for another because it's lost Blush. Does she create the jewellery herself, too? That's one thing I liked about this place - was totally handmade then hallmarked.

pepperrabbit · 21/09/2010 14:47

Happy Birthday Naomi!
Star - I wouldn't worry about going back - it would show you loved it so much you really really miss it. Also shows your DH is a numpty tho Grin.
Gives a local business a bit more income, and you get the tie-pin again.
I have a horrid horrid cold. Slightly better but I've been wiped out by it - actually had to lie down yestrrday afternoon - unheard of Shock, Put DD in cot, DS2 in front of CBeebies and set kitchen timer to 26 minutes - shut eyes. Else I physically wouldn't have had the strength to cart them both to school to pick up DS1.
Sometimes i ponder those days pre-kids when you could wrap yourself in a duvet, watch trashy DVDs and sip Lemsip when poorly - for whole days at a time!!!!
KSal, you sound very chirpy considering! Have you got a hospital routine going? 10am teatrolley, 12 noon lunch, etc!

StarExpat · 21/09/2010 15:29

Pepper - I look back at those days pre ds and think how on earth could I have ever before thought "I'm exhausted". Whenever I hear someone without dc say that now, I think Hmm you have no idea!

Good way of thinking about going back to the jewellery place. I thought they'd think I didn't value it enough to keep it safe and as they handmade it and all... but true they'd probably love more money. :)

It's a tie slide - like a thing that slides on like a paperclip and clips to the shirt underneath as well but the front has his fingerprint and name - it was really sweet!

Coconutfeet · 21/09/2010 19:16

Happy Birthday Naomi! Hope you all had a lovely day.

Grin at Oxlips. Sad for the child who was left behind. How long did they get left for? I had to have firm words with a parent today who is regularly 25 mins late to collect her child. Oh and I got punched by a pupil today. Marvellous!

Star - I got a lot of shoulder pain when I was co-sleeping. I think it was because I was sort of locked in the same position for most of the night. I went to an osteopath who sorted it out for me. Could it be that, do you think?

StarExpat · 21/09/2010 20:02

I hope little N had a fab day and is now tucked in bed :)

Cf thanks. Wanted to hear it's normal :)
Punched? Sounds like dh's job! :( poor you!
Child was left after all buses had gone and all cars... She was shaking and crying. :( but very excited to ride in her teacher's car Grin

Coconutfeet · 21/09/2010 20:39

So what did the mother say when you took her home Star? I'd be mortified if someone had to do that with S.

Loulou, How are you doing today? Good luck for Friday. I hope it turns out to be reasonably straightforward.

Happy birthday Naomi :).

StarExpat · 21/09/2010 21:08

Nothing shameful about a little take away Wink

cf, mother and father were both in London, but "auntie" was pulling in from a taxi just as I arrived. A lot of teachers heard about it today and were Shock that I drove her home as it's "not something you have to do"... Hmm she's a little girl. Scared. Forgotten. No idea how she'll get home. Wtf else do you do? Leave her there until 6pm, hungry scared and anxious?

For me, it was a no brainer. Fortunately, I have some like minded colleagues as well :)

loulou33 · 21/09/2010 21:20

Happy birthday Naomi -hope she had a fab day myjob.

Ksal - you're welcome and now your as far along as I was with Joe when they induced me. Amazing how it all comes back to me!

50ft - i do remember and thanks for reminding me, I really want to avoid being in hosp for more than a day and hope it will all be sorted on Friday. I hate being in hosp (weird when I work in the bloody place) but the gynae wards a bit grim....

Feeling a bit less weepy today but DS1 was sent home from school today with temp - hope I don't get it or op will be cancelled on Friday.

More cheery news (sorry Pistachio) I hit a deer on the way to work this am. i was too busy looking at the other deer which had crossed the road and thinking how lucky i hadn't hit it when another one ran into the road from nowhere and smashed the front grill of the car. Could have been so much worse but gave me such a fright and the car looks like shit.....don't expect the deer looks good either Sad. I cried as well Blush

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/09/2010 21:37

Oh loulou - it's not your week is it. Big deer can write off a car quite easily. I've come close to hitting one myself. Thank goodness it's just the front grille.

StarExpat · 21/09/2010 22:06

Oh loulou :( poor you and the deer!! How awful. I would have cried for the deer, too. But if he was able to run away, I bet he's ok.

Every time I type loulou on my phone it wants to say moulin. Not as funny as oxlips. I must have left out a lot of letters but I think mac developers have fun with that. My blackberry wouldn't have corrected ANY typo to "oxlips" HA! I still giggle about that!

loulou33 · 22/09/2010 20:31

cheers Star - its definitely not on the road unless someone else chucked him in their boot and has turned him into venison by now.... am going to forget this week ever happened i think

Joe 'passed' his two year check although he did throw a ball at the health visitor's face. She asked him if he could throw a ball to her and he laughed and did, just a bit harder than she was expecting - oops!! He also hid two of her bricks in his pocket, cunning little devil - will have to drop them off tomorrow!

ROFL pistachio! Grin I remember when I was saying the animal sounds and pointing to animals for Q while doing a puzzle one day a while ago when he was just learning the names of animals, too and I said "who says quack/moo...etc."? and he would say "mommy!"

So. Q is sleeping through the night. He has been for a while. Yeah, he'll wake for 5 second at around 3 or 4 or 5 in the morning but then just wants to get into our bed and cuddle and go back to sleep, which is fine with me :) Blush
and he is very tired at 7pm (bedtime). Same routine of dinner, bath, stories, put star light on, turn "scout" nighttime music on, get tiger and tractor and he used to say "night night" and tell us to go to the door. He'd happily fall asleep on his own.

Now he cries and screams when we put him in his bed. It's a toddler bed, not a cot but he will not ever get out of it once he's been put in. He will in the day if he's playing but never from a nap or bedtime. Hmm He'll cry and point to our bed, but won't get out.

Lately, he's been crying for soooooooo long at bedtime. So much that DH has gone in and lay down with him until he falls asleep (Q in our bed with DH). Then he puts him back in his bed. I do NOT want to get into this habit. Last night, dh was at a school open evening and I let Q cry :( I went in to reassure him often, but it lasted for 1 hour.

I asked cm to cut his naps down to just an hour - hour and a half and she has done so, but it's made no difference (just made him grumpier in the afternoons, in fact!). He's sleeping through the night and definitely tired at 7, so I seriously doubt it's the naps. In fact, since cutting down the naps, he shows he's ready for bed by 5pm, which is just too early! (because, selfishly, we want to play with him for as long as we can and enjoy 4pm-7pm).

So, any suggestions after that long winded rambling post? Blush. I want my easy going to bed baby back!

How was N's birthday, Myjob?

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/09/2010 12:57

Have you tried giving nurofen in case it's his back molars rumbling star? He's the right age for it.

StarExpat · 23/09/2010 13:01

OH MY GOD
:( :( :(
I actually know his back molars are slowly coming in and he's complained about them over the past week, I've felt them and they are pushing but not through yet. I've given him nurofen when he's said "head hurt" and "mouth hurt"but I didn't put 2+2 together about the sudden difficulty going to sleep.

Maybe he's had a headache or he's just noticed the pain more when he's resting in bed. :(

Dh keeps saying "he must be unwell" and I keep saying "no it's because you're giving in to him and laying with him". :(

I truly am a b*ch. :(
