Happy Birthday lovely lady. I usually rely on FB to tell me birthdays but your's wasn't on there.... Blush

Pistachio - One of my other internet friends lives on the Isle of Lewis and is moving to the highlands once they've sold their house.... I get a nose bleed even thinking about being that far North!

Hope you have a great holiday too Ekka.

We had a nice day trip to the zoo today. Ds spent the whole day walking with only a couple of brief stints in the pushchair, and didn't have a nap, so hopefully he will sleep in in the morning.
Hopefully the fresh air had a good effect on ds2 too. I've actually got him asleep on my bed where he's been since about 7:40 Shock. No idea what that will mean for the rest of the night mind!

StarExpat · 09/08/2010 20:27

Good luck with the new sleeping arrangements, pistachio :)

Happy birthday, Ronshar :)

Thanks all for support and suggestions. I'm waiting to be able to afford to do it privately tbh because I feel guilty using nhs resources for something that I should be able to just get on with and do. I know I pay taxes and everything, too - but also feel a bit like I'm taking advantage of the healthcare system by asking for extra with an ordinary procedure. I'm still in awe that you can just go to a dr without insurance or having to worry if insurance will cover it, how much copayment...etc. Just amazing.

StarExpat · 09/08/2010 20:34

Sounds like a nice day, csws. :) good luck with night sleep! Q doesn't like being in the buggy much, either unless he's really worn out. This morning he spent 3 hours running around the fields by the duck pond. He ran and ran and ran up and down hills by streams...etc. I've had a great workout :) forget shred! Lol. He then napped and woke up saying "outside!" and didn't stop running and climbing until bedtime at 7!

We went to Whitstable this afternoon and M did well with her walking too. She is such a terrible madam though. She didn't want to go and find DH so she flounced off in the opposite direction. I bought her a raincoat & she had insisted on carrying the bag so off she stropped with the bag held up in the crook of her arm. Hmm

That's a lovely mental image 50ft! Probably less fun in real life though Smile

50ftQueenie · 09/08/2010 22:42

It was quite cute Pepper, especially as she had a flouncy dress on and we were on the beach. It did get somewhat irritating after the first couple of times though.... Hmm

That is cute, 50ft! Q just sits where he is firmly or lays himself on the ground where it's most inconvenient if we've asked him to go in a way that he doesn't want to go! Most irritating. I prefer M's flouncing in her floaty dress on the beach :)

pepperrabbit · 10/08/2010 10:50

10.48. constant rain, 3 bored children and no car - and we can't go anywhere on foot as we're waiting for the garage to collect the car.....
Have resorted to CBeebies - and it's way too early for that Hmm. TV is my transfixing entertainmet of last resort....

pepperrabbit · 10/08/2010 10:56

Actually that's a fib, chocolate is clearly the Last Resort!

Aww bless N :) sounds like a lovely day!! Q won't say monkey just scratch his armpit with same hand and say "ooh ooh ooh" lol

OK help me if you can. Q keeps asking for "my roar" (usually a lion or tiger or book with one in it). We have offered everything in our house.... He keeps asking for it. Same thing last night and previous night all the way through. Very little sleep past 2 nights. wakes from naps with same. Bad naps last 2 days, too. Just keeps asking for his "roar" WTF??? We've even let him out to find this "roar" and he. Just points and asks for it!!! We've looked everywhere offered him everything!!!!!!!!
Is he playing us???? It does seem genuine..... I am at a total loss. In the night I pick him up, he wants his bed. I put him in the bed... He wants held!!! Ahhhhhh

pepperrabbit · 10/08/2010 22:01

star - I have several spare strokeys - you could pretend one does "roar" Wink
Seriously though, if DD is convinced of something like that, then it does nornally exist. Not much help I know, but I doubt he's winding you up - he has your undivided attention at the mo anyway so it's unlikely to be that (unless your term just started and I didn't notice Blush).
Hope tonight is better.

StarExpat · 11/08/2010 20:41

I have to go to work tomorrow for a few meetings. Kids start back at my school on 23rd August for orientation. Last night sleep was horrid so I kept him up all day. Well he collapsed at 445 from utter exhaustion and I let him sleep 15 mins... He totally needs his naps but I'm desperate for a night of sleep. How did I manage before on practically NO sleep???!!
We bought him a small soft roaring lion today. He's been calling it "my roar" so fingers crossed he'll accept this in a few hours when he wakes and starts screaming for "my roar" Hmm

He also sleeps loads better when we aren't in there... I desperately want to move!!! Dh has finally Agreed to price reduction so hopefully!!!

StarExpat · 11/08/2010 20:44

Thanks pepper :) no, term hasn't started and he has dh and I constantly showering him with attention. Dh doesn't go back until 2nd sept and my full on work not until 23rd Aug so that shouldn't be it.

Ekka · 12/08/2010 07:25

Star, I'm with you, the sleep deprivation is much worse now, when they don't sleep through. Matthew has been waking 4-5 times a night really distressed that he's on his own for the last couple of months. I NEED sleep! We had him in with us last night as we just had to get some sleep before our flight.

Wish me luck ladies, we're off today. Only 18-20 hours (I hope) and we'll be there Confused Grin

CantSleepWontSleep · 12/08/2010 21:44

I survived yesterday with all 3 dc and no help whatsoever Shock:) (helper had family emergency). I had to take them all with me to my hospital appointment (ENT), but they were pretty good really.

Was surprised to discover when we turned up to go strawberry picking today that the season is already over! And they are only open for raspberry picking on Wedns and Sat, so couldn't do that either. We had a picnic with us though so went to the park and had a nice day anyway.

Dh back tonight. Not sure why he hasn't texted to say that he's landed like he normally does, but his flight was apparently in early, so he may just be in before I go to bed!

Hope everyone well :).

StarExpat · 12/08/2010 22:06

Well done, csws :) I hope your dh gets in before bedtime!

That definitely seems like a daunting task.... Toddler, baby, 5 yo in hospital for appointment. You deserve lots of wine :)

I want to open a preschool. I love love love love this age.

StarExpat · 12/08/2010 22:08

Ekka I hope you survive your journey!!!! Best of luck for sleepy dc Grin

you do know that my dd is only 4 don't you star? Or 4 and a half now - the half is important to them at this age Wink.

StarExpat · 13/08/2010 06:04

Yes halves very important with my students, too. Sorry csws, I don't know why I assumed she was 5! Blush
Pistachio that is so sweet :) can you trust them to play a bit while you lay in bed for a little while? I can't wait for that day.... Q would happily play by himself now if I let him first thing in morning but too worried he'd get hurt or fall or touch something dangerous by himself.
