Q is a funny gorgeous little man.

StarExpat · 06/08/2010 22:40

As is W :)

I still can't believe the clever stunts W can do!

Myjob just bring N!! I brought Q and he is soooo squirmy and he lasted a while. Bring loads of snacks that she loves and just keep them coming! If you need to take her just outside the door for a few mins should be ok right?

Aw well, have fun! Fwiw Q won't sit and watch Cbeebies either - just runs about and plays and occasionally looks up if it's on. The cinema was a novel experience big screen...etc so it might work sometime :) Q was very LOUD though... Which may annoy an older sibling.
How was your cinema trip csws?

pepperrabbit · 07/08/2010 22:21

DD was kind of watching Ice Age 3 at her cousins house - I thought she wasn't paying much attention but when the really big dinosaur came on she was terrified and wailed for ages - she was properly scared Sad.
DS (6) only went to the cinema for the first time last week - don't want to rush into these things here!
And, can you believe that now I have ordered 4 more comforters - the lost pink one which disappeared 3 months ago at home turned up this afternoon Angry Hmm in a jigsaw puzzle box. Now I'll have 5 pink ones, the old blue one and I'm probably going to win a green one on Ebay in 22 hours time!!!!!
To be fair though, she was absolutely thrilled with the lost pink one and has clutched it all afternoon saying "sokey" and kissing it.

StarExpat · 07/08/2010 23:05

Awww bless her, pepper! She's probably so happy to have the real strokey back! :)

Q is fond of Henry Teddy from Isabellas toybox books. He's little and I do worry if he goes missing because he'd notice for sure although he doesn't cuddle him much... But he stays in his bed and never leaves it so shouldn't be a problem.

I wish I lived nearer to you, myjob. I'd have happily had N for the day while you went to he cinema with B. :) she's such a cuddly little thing!!

StarExpat · 08/08/2010 20:42

I tried a mooncup :) Shock
I vomited.
Tried again.
Vomited.
:(

50ftQueenie · 08/08/2010 21:03

Well Star, it was brave of you to try. I can't actually believe you bought one! I would have thought the very idea would make you vomit.

coconutfeet · 08/08/2010 21:20

Why did you decide to try one Star?

Hurrah for Strokey! S doesn't seem too attached to any one particular toy. He does like his "blue blanket" (which isn't remotely blue - he applies his colours, like his numbers, completely at random) but that stays in his cot.

We've been packing for our holiday. Leaving tomorrow evening to get the overnight ferry to Holland. Weather forecast is absolutely crap for the whole week, so I hope it's not going to be too awful. Dp and ds have both got bad coughs and are under the weather. Wish us luck.

StarExpat · 08/08/2010 21:33

Oh good luck cf! I hope it's a lot of fun!! :)

Q used to say everything was "red" now it's all "boo" (blue). He does correctly identify "back"(black) every time, though... And White.

StarExpat · 08/08/2010 21:36

Oh I decided to try mooncup because I thought if I could do that, then I can do the smear test. And keep getting reminders from my gp surgery about it. I just decided to take the mindset of "just do it" but as it turns out, I'm not so strong.

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/08/2010 21:37

oh dear -good luck cf.

Well done for trying star - I too am surprised.

Our cinema trip was good thanks star. Ds was happy with a lap to sit on and dh's large popcorn and fanta to help himself to!

Am not on much at mo as ds2 not settling well enough to put down yet. Am holding and trying to settle him now whilst typing this on phone.

No comforters here (except my boobs, but I tend not to lose them Wink ).

That's a shame, Star. The mooncup is a bit tricky at first. Could you try just with your fingers to start with in order to get used to it? Am I right in thinking that you asked for them to give you something to relax you ansd they said no?

StarExpat · 08/08/2010 22:24

Awww pistachio how sweet is that!
Csws I hope it gets easier soon. Another here not envious as it sounds like a lot of work and I'm enjoying a lazy holiday with one.

Cf that's right they have said no. Thank you for thinking about it and trying to help. I do appreciate it, but Your suggestion made me cringe. I cannot bear even the possibility of that.

I can be intimite with dh again and have been able to for a while but, well, I know this is TMI but only one thing can go there iyswim. And it took long enough even for that after Q was born (many months!).

Ekka · 08/08/2010 22:30

cf - I hope you have a good journey and a fun time, whatever the weather. How long is the ferry ride?

Myjob, our cm's son had an abcess on his knee. They had loads of tests/examinations etc as the docs were really worried about it, but it all turned out well. I think they tend to be over-cautious when it comes to children, so will no doubt take great care of B. It looks v uncomfortable for him, poor chap, he is very brave.

CSWS, that must be tough, what with the other two to manage as well?

Star, you are very brave for trying. I keep thinking about getting a mooncup, but after some of our recent toilet trips on outings, I don't think I need anything else for the dc to comment about (v loudly) in the ladies loos..... Blush

Pepper, great news about the strokeys! M hasn't got one thing he likes, except he snuggles with the top of his nappy that peeps over his trousers Hmm. I hope he grows out of it, otherwise we'll never get him potty trained. Dd has a couple of elephants that she loves but they stay firmly in her bedroom.

We're off to Canada on Thursday. A 10 hour flight, follwed by a 1.5 hour ferry trip (not to mention all the hanging around at airports/ferry terminals) is NOT looking very appealing at the moment. In fact I'm getting more and more stressed about the thought of having 2 v active dc on the plane. It was manageable with them both last year, but that was because ds couldn't walk and slept a lot on the way. However, the holiday will be great, so I'm trying to focus on that. I've done most of the packing, and started to clean the house (I hate coming back from holiday to a filthy house) so my oven is now all sparkly and lovely Smile. I may never use it again! Dh, btw, thinks I'm completely mad.....

star - they must be able to do something for you - you are most certainly not alone - and it's not as if you don't want to get the test done. I have a friend who was prescribed a valium tablet to take each time before her test becasue after many years it became clear that that was the only way to get it done.
ekka - long journey! but worth it - good luck on the plane and have fun when you get there Smile
cf - hope the holiday goes well - has to be better than you are expecting it to be!
CSWS - LOL at not losing your boobs Grin.
I did just win the green strokey on ebay - sigh. and paypal crashed half way through paying so I might have paid for it twice as well Hmm Confused

coconutfeet · 09/08/2010 08:16

Ekka - I've got a sparkling oven (and fridge) as well. I'm like you - I hate coming back to a dirty house. Our crossing is about 8 hours. We're doing overnight on the way which hopefully should be fine. Then we come back in the afternoon. I'm thinking that at least on the ferry we can run around a bit. Your plane journey sounds much harder, but I'm sure it'll be worth it when you actually arrive.

Sad Star - I hope you manage to get it sorted out. Is this the same GP that you had problems with for Q or someone else?

Ekka · 09/08/2010 08:47

Oh, yes, I still have the fridge to clean (and the rest of the house!).

Isn't it a shame that travelling can't always be done at night, we're returning on an overnight flight. Last time the kids slept and we didn't so they were full of energy the next day and we slept in shifts Grin but much better than having to amuse them for 10 hours! But it IS worth it. We'll have a lovely break.

Pepper - you do realise that when you have all these strokey's J will suddenly decide she prefers another toy . My sister used to do that with food, my parents would just have stocked up on some type of cereal/spread after several morning crises where they had run out, and then she would decide she preferred something else! Typical.....

50ftQueenie · 09/08/2010 09:42

Ekka - I will be after all your flying with small children tips when you get back! We're going to the US in October and I am dreading the flight with M! Good luck and enjoy your holiday.

CF - Hope you have a good holiday too and that the weather is kind.

Star - It was brave of you considering your issues. Well done to Q with his colours. M says everything is pink except orange, she knows orange.

CSWS - Yay for good trip to the cinema. Might try M out then..... I only had boobs for comforters too! Very easy to keep track of. Wink

Pistachio - It always makes me laugh when people who live in Scotland talk about going up North.... Grin Are you not North enough?
