Politics

The dust has almost settled. My assessment of how the BNP performed.

Ok, they didn't make the political breakthrough I'd hoped for, but if you look at the results they are actually very encouraging.

The BNP got 563,743 votes (dispite only fighting half of all the available 650 seats)

They got 10% of the vote. That is pretty amazing for a small party, and under proportional representation those votes would result in seats.

NC will merge with someone (eventually?) and as one of his main aims is to push through PR it's all good for the BNP.

What do these results mean for the BNP ?

The tripling of the BNP vote on May 6th has some important implications.

Firstly, where they went head to head with UKIP and the Greens they thrashed them, they overtook UKIP in 178 seats, and UKIP have far more money than the BNP, and of course UKIP and the Greens are favoured by the media.

Secondly, while all minority parties were pushed to the edge by the bigger parties, the BNP's vote not only help up, but proportionally increased when compared to their June 2009 Euro election results.

The BNP are here to stay, and although the election was a disappointment in some respests, it was a clear sign that 1000's of people up and down the country support the policies of the BNP.

And let's not forget, political pundits had all but written off the Labour party after they lost the 92'election....

They went on to win 3 elections.

'y'see, I am being accused of being (pretty much) solely responsible for anyone who has ever left MN.' and this is just shite.

NO one has said that. You are again making it all about yourself, making out you are the sole victim, the object of hatred, and that it is so unreasonable...it's not like that, and you know it. If you can't see that then yes I would wonder whether you are functioning cognitively.

Margaret Hodge tells the BNP to get out and stay out

I am going to post this when I see DP posting.

complimentary · 15/05/2010 19:23

The point of all this is that DP is often picked on by groups of MNs often the same group, who don't normally debate, but swear at her or mock/tease her "come on, I'm waiting for your answer" etc" it is very unpleasant to witness and that is why I and others. will stand her ground for her. This is all very sad, I think I'll move onto a relationship thread I might start my own "who still thinks about their first love? and would they still be with him given a chance?".

ConDemNation · 15/05/2010 19:24

ShriekingHarpy, thankyou for clarifying. May I just say that your incisively condescending post to Willowflower has actually made me feel a bit sick.

ConDemNation · 15/05/2010 19:27

Complimentary, I think that is just what happens when ordinary people are faced with a scenario where someone is saying such outrageous things that they simply cannot believe they are hearing it.

Nobody knows how to respond to that kind of thing, because it is so far from what would be acceptable in day to day life. We've had no practise.

So yes people will insult and so on, they will react in a very ragged kind of way because it is a shock.

It's DP who engenders this though, every time, and I do believe she gets a kick out of it. 'Oh look, all the silly little people are resorting to attacking me because I have really thrown a cat among the pigeons'

it's revolting.

pinkfizzle · 15/05/2010 20:00

I have to say that I am with Margaret Hodge when she says that the BNP and their vile politics have no place in a Democratic Britain.

No place at all.

daftpunk · 15/05/2010 20:46

CDN;

People insult me because they are in shock..?

Can you be in shock for over 2 years..?

Sorry, people insult me because they love it, if they didn't they wouldn't come anywhere near me...fair enough to tell someone you don't like their views once or twice, but over and over and over again..?

There are 2 or 3 posters on here who scare the life out of me..and if I never see their names again it will be too soon.

Condemnation. Does DP say such ourageous things? The Nation of Islam believes that white people are the devil and that mixed marriages should be forbidden, they go further an say that they want segregated schooling. They do not allow white people to join the Nation of Islam. Many groups in society today operate a silent segregation poicy that forbids marriage outside of their own religion or culture. This is not something new. As far a homosexuality is concerned many people would say "I don't care what goes on behind closed doors" but think that children should be brought up by a mother and father. Many parents even though they don't say it, do not want many children in their classes that have a disability, as they fear that the school could not cope, and the child may hold back their own. Schools do in fact receive money for extra resources to facilitate children who have been statemented and have special needs.
Lastly I would say that the white working classes are the least racist. Many of them inter-marry,(unlike the middle classes and certainly not the aristocracy). have children who are mixed parentage. If class and background where measured as a yardstick to ascertain who was really prejudiced and who wasn't I think you would find that the majority of the white working classes, certainly aren't racist, contrary to belief.

Greensleeves · 15/05/2010 21:05

You are NOT keeping to it

your promise was: mstick to music threads only for 3 months

this is not a music thread

ergo: you are breaking the promise you made

I'm disgusted tbh, wish I hadn't bothered to try and be reasonable

daftpunk · 15/05/2010 21:08

I have never said anything that outrageous.

I don't think homosexuality is natural....just like 10 million other people.

I support the BNP....just like 500,000 other people.

A poster told me a few days ago that she wouldn't piss on me if I was on fire...what a charmer, if that wasn't bad enough she said she was a mental health nurse..

Fucking hell.

Daftpunk. Rules should be broken,(especially daft ones) I bet you bunked off school!

daftpunk · 15/05/2010 21:10

GS;

No I'm not.

I made a promise not to post on any threads apart from music ones...I had already started this thread...it is ongoing.

OP posts:
bibbitybobbityhat · 15/05/2010 21:12

Surely time for your ban now DP?

When did you make the promise about staying on music threads only for three months? Was it yesterday?

I think you have crossed the line (although I do of course realise its not up to me ha! and mnhq might still dilly dally) so would start saying my goodbyes if I were you.

Greensleeves · 15/05/2010 21:12

You undertook not to post on any thread other than music threads

this thread is NOT a music thread, it is another of your vile provocative shit-stirring threads, and you are breaking your word by posting on it, bumping it and prolonging it

complimentary · 15/05/2010 21:14

Daftpunk "a poster said she wouldn't piss on me if I was on fire" she was a mental health nurse, no DP she wasn't the nurse, she was the patient!

daftpunk · 15/05/2010 21:14

Of course I bunked off school...but I will stick to my promoise, I wont post on any other threads ...I wouldn't have said it if i didn't mean it.

ps

(Do I know you ?..have we spoken before iykwim..)

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 15/05/2010 21:15

this isn't a music thread dp

you are breaking your word

daftpunk · 15/05/2010 21:16

GS;

No, this thread was already started.
