The dust has almost settled. My assessment of how the BNP performed.

Ok, they didn't make the political breakthrough I'd hoped for, but if you look at the results they are actually very encouraging.

The BNP got 563,743 votes (dispite only fighting half of all the available 650 seats)

They got 10% of the vote. That is pretty amazing for a small party, and under proportional representation those votes would result in seats.

NC will merge with someone (eventually?) and as one of his main aims is to push through PR it's all good for the BNP.

What do these results mean for the BNP ?

The tripling of the BNP vote on May 6th has some important implications.

Firstly, where they went head to head with UKIP and the Greens they thrashed them, they overtook UKIP in 178 seats, and UKIP have far more money than the BNP, and of course UKIP and the Greens are favoured by the media.

Secondly, while all minority parties were pushed to the edge by the bigger parties, the BNP's vote not only help up, but proportionally increased when compared to their June 2009 Euro election results.

The BNP are here to stay, and although the election was a disappointment in some respests, it was a clear sign that 1000's of people up and down the country support the policies of the BNP.

And let's not forget, political pundits had all but written off the Labour party after they lost the 92'election....

They went on to win 3 elections.

look, the election is OVER. the dust, as you put it, has settled. the Liberals are governing the country in a coalition with the tories and the BNP got nothing.

LL;

What did I get wrong..?

OP posts:
SirBoobAlot · 12/05/2010 10:01

"What did I get wrong..?"

The whole basis of the party. And voting for them. The statistics pre and post election.

Aside from that not much.

ladylush · 12/05/2010 10:01

er Some rather important statistics - for starters.

runnybottom · 12/05/2010 10:02

all of it.

Heres a simple rule for you, if you said it, its wrong. You're just too dim to notice.

Good luck with your "degree"

daftpunk · 12/05/2010 10:03

And I can't believe you are sticking up for NC...he's sold his parties soul to get a top job....

Nice.

OP posts:
ladylush · 12/05/2010 10:05

I was going to suggest that you undertake an English Language GCSE prior to embarking on your degree, but I suppose none of your target audience will notice your poor spelling.

complimentary · 12/05/2010 10:06

Sirboobalot. Just gooogled Lord Voldemort, now he's worse looking than Nick Griffin and all of our politicians!

Aitch · 12/05/2010 10:07

nope, you initially admitted that you got it wrong, then later started spinning it as a typo. two completely different things, my racist chum. especially as the ten per cent vote was the basis for your entire OP...

abr1de · 12/05/2010 10:09

DaftPunk, I'm right-of-centre (not too much) and Catholic, like you.

But I could never ever bring myself to vote BNP. I just look at those large thuggish men with their shaven heads standing behind NG and I shudder. When I see those men I see broken bones and blood and I can't get that out of my mind.

I have some sympathy with concerns over large-scale migration, but I'd never take the risk of voting for people I suspect would take pleasure in hurting and intimidating other human beings. You may say that NG wouldn't do this. But look at his henchmen: these are the kind of men who love the smashed down door at 4am, the adrenaline of hitting someone, the screams of frightened children.

complimentary · 12/05/2010 10:13

Daftpunk. I reckon you have got a sense of humour and balls, you've posted this on here, so you must be quite resilent to attack. Perhaps the BNP will ask you to be their next leader or high up in the chain of command I take it you're older than the young Turk you spoke of nipping at Griffins' heels.

Aitch · 12/05/2010 10:15

whereas i reckon that you're a troll.

daftpunk · 12/05/2010 10:16

Aitch, re-read my op..

My 10% quote was not the basis for the entire op...

And if the BNP had got 10%...it would have been in the thread title...

Trust me on that one...

But you are clearly getting some kinda rush out of talking about 10%...maybe you should go and start a thread asking for loads of 10% statistics...

Y'know...really get some satisfaction...

The basis of your OP was an assessment - which you got W R O N G

complimentary · 12/05/2010 10:18

Sirboobalot. Why would MN not allow this thread, people haven't cursed, sworn or personnaly attacked each other or Daftpunk, so there is no reason to pull this thread.

ladylush · 12/05/2010 10:20

Complimentary - because she is inciting racial hatred and peddling views that discriminate against many of the people who use this site such as parents of disabled children. Bit that you even had to ask that question tbh

ladylush · 12/05/2010 10:21

And I'd rather see some swearing than the vile shite being spouted on here.

daftpunk · 12/05/2010 10:23

Complimentary;

I would love to be the leader of the BNP...I swear I would love it...The party would change... but sadly I haven't been to Oxford or Cambridge...

I don't know for sure there is a 25yr old in the background waiting...but there probably is..NG can't go on forever, and he has a bit too much history to really take the party forward.

psml - you don't need to be from oxbridge. Do you think your electorate will really be that discerning

You Are Just Such A Complete Twat!

Quite possibly the most ridiculous post ever written on MN.

Please feel free to report my posts anyone who has an issue with my personal attacks on this doughnut of a person.

daftpunk · 12/05/2010 10:28

Riven.

The BNP's performance is all over the papers...it has to be reported, are you saying talking about the BNP should be banned from all media..?

Would you say that about UKIP..?

OP posts:
posieparker · 12/05/2010 10:28

Reading DP's posts is like picking up a copy of The Sport, crass, dim and just a big tit. (well I suppose the Sport knows it's taking the piss)

posieparker · 12/05/2010 10:30

daftpunk, are you seriously as thick skinned and dim as you make out? Only UKIP and BNP are very different parties, with different histories and morals...
