You silly, silly women.

Don't you know any better?

It was a little confusing.....basically if you shout 'vote x - they're going to win anyway and you might as well be part of it' some people will vote x and everyone who does renders it more likely that they will win and so it fulfills it's own ends. 'Tis all a massive conspiracy you see

The funny thing is - i've spent five years saying no way would I vote labour again and when the chips are down I'm hurtling back to that socialist broad church like nobody's business and getting all grumpy with the Tories....it's like 1997 all over again

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2010 18:51

I like it. The fight is on the streets, it's all dustpans at dawn in the politics section now

And to think I was moaning about the lack of conservative presence on MN just the other day Altantis

NL - yes like 1997 - except in reverse. They've got the scent of victory now, it's going to be intense.

Like a self- fulfilling prophecy... yes (rubs hands together with glee) I like it.

"And to think I was moaning about the lack of conservative presence on MN just the other day Altantis"

Be careful what you wish for...

atlantis · 30/04/2010 18:56

Anyone ever see the film poltergeist 2 ?

"they're back...."

Northernlurker · 30/04/2010 18:57

Remember 92 though - Labour thought they had it in the bag and John Major clung on (ok it didn't end too well for John but...)

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2010 18:58

lol

yes, it's feeling a bit like that.

That economist thread? It's your Sheffield moment

so triumphalist

just sayin

I think the real issues have been ignored. What are you all wearing to go and vote....?

Northernlurker · 30/04/2010 19:04

Are we alright then?

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2010 19:06

Yeah. We're alriiiiight Northern

ellie. Thank you for restoring the debate to a sensible level.

"I think the real issues have been ignored. What are you all wearing to go and vote....? "

Well I'm wearing my 'if you don't vote for dave you've got your head in the sand ' t'shirt.

colditz · 30/04/2010 19:08

Because Labour and Liberal democrat politicians recognise that one can still be a rational adult without a penis, and therefore don't feel the need to dictate to us who we should vote for.

it's also fairly obvious that these threads are posted by men, because they focus on what a 'loser' you would be if you don't vote Tory - as if being a 'Loser' was somehow really terrifying to women (which to many men, it is)

Northernlurker · 30/04/2010 19:09

I'm cringing just reading that you know. Anyway - back to the fight......shall we bring up school milk and the sinking of the Belgrano and the Miners Strike?

I'm going to wear red to vote.....ok, rather a subtle shade of burgundy but I could take dd3 with me. She has a bright RED raincoat...

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2010 19:10

excellent point colditz

I think i can point the men at fifty posts at the minute

OP posts:
atlantis · 30/04/2010 19:10

Oh Colditz, I thought the big L's that people wearing red rosettes had tattooed on their forehead was for Labour, but now I get it.

OrmRenewed · 30/04/2010 19:10

I am deluded. And I am still not going to vote Tory.

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2010 19:11

point to, I meant, or spot.

I think we'd better evoke memories of how unattractive the helmet hair and shiny blouses and shoulder pads were nothern

OP posts:
OrmRenewed · 30/04/2010 19:12

And my darling ma has been deluded most of her life and she wouldn't vote anything else.

foxinsocks · 30/04/2010 19:13

cor it has been that long hasn't it

you know what I can't bear? the thought that we might have to do this all again.

Can you imagine if we have 2 elections in the space of a few months?

I might have to emigrate. I can do one, but two

atlantis · 30/04/2010 19:14

"

Hey don't knock helmet hair, it was an early attempt at health and safety as was the shiney blouses (could be seen in the dark ) and the shoulder pads just ensured you looked symetrical.

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2010 19:15

Will they have more debates if there's another one do you think? Jeez.

OP posts:
colditz · 30/04/2010 19:15

See?

As if wearing a big L is the worst possible thing that could occur if your preferred party don't get it.

There is no rational argument that will convince anyone who has neither a penis nor a large income or a small business to vote for the Tory party. Of course, an irrational argument might swing it...

It just smacks of typical middle aged male arrogance

"Oh dear, Stupid Women Getting It Wrong Again. I suppose we'd better tell them who to vote for or the silly things will vote for the Pretty Shoes Party, or the Don't Tread On My Clean Floor party. Silly girls. Now then... ahem... 'VOTE CONSERVATIVE OR, UM, YOU'LL BE STUPID. AND A LOSER' Ok, Smuffy, that ought to do it."

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2010 19:16

I can smell your heavy-duty hairspray from here atlantis.

And look! You're only drinking champagne through a straw.

It's a filofax invasion!

OP posts:
atlantis · 30/04/2010 19:16

"Will they have more debates if there's another one do you think? Jeez."

Oh lord, not more of Brown's smiling, anything but that.

foxinsocks · 30/04/2010 19:17

oh I hope not. Don't think I could watch more faux sincerity without some type of X factor intervention. Perhaps they'd introduce a sing off this time. Or 3 members of the public who could press big Xs like on X factor when they'd had enough of their replies.
