Badenoch is on BBC News standing in front of an armoured vehicle (she's not sitting in a tank yet, but give her time).
When told that the majority of Britons don't want to be involved in this war, she said that we would be if we understood what it meant.
She's happy to have a conversation with the PM, obviously he's too stupid too.
Only she has the intellect required to want to bomb people.

I think our current position of limited support is eminently sensible.

Why should we send our sons to die in yet another middle eastern war?

PandoraSocks · 06/03/2026 12:16

Why is she suddenly pro-war? She wasn't this time last year, quite the opposite.

Because unless someone enters a fight and someone’s son is injured or dies, the baddies will be on our doorstep. War or conflict is about defending our liberty.
That’d potentially include my DS, an infantry reservist, and my DD and SIL as having a Navy and RM reserve commitment, so I don’t state that lightly.

LoisGriffinskitchen · 06/03/2026 12:21

i don’t want any British soldiers sent out to die in this unjust war by Trump and that right wing nut job in Israel. May they both drop dead real soon;

Nor will I listen to Kemi with her foolish and disgusting comments. Everyone the woman opens her mouth she pisses me off.

Iran is not going to be on our doorstep any time soon. I thought the rationale for this war was to free the Iranian people from tyranny?

Also, she didn't call anyone stupid, not understanding something does not mean being necessarily stupid, it might mean you don't have the right information.

But if the cap fits...

I agree with this.

Our government(s) and national press has slowly become less informed and more click baity and I bloody hate being treated like a child. Half our MPs know jackshit and it's embarrassing.

Bollocks. Iran can't even fire a missile accurately at the UAE. There's zero chance of them attacking the UK.

We don't live in a world of 'goodies' and 'baddies', unless you are six. We live in a world where countries act in their own naked self-interest, including the USA (as Trump has quite deliberately made clear to us). We should remember that before jumping in to headfirst to help every time they'd like us too.

Let's be honest, the US Administration has given conflicting accounts of why they're attacking Iran, and of what their aims are supposed to be, so it's hardly likely that the average MNetter is going to be any the wiser.

Very true.

PandoraSocks · 06/03/2026 12:30

As for Badenoch, she is so far out of her depth someone needs to chuck her a rubber ring and a pair of armbands.

She's trying to embarrass KS. She's moving closer to Reform. It allows her to cos-play Thatcher on a tank. It gets her airtime.

Pacificsunshine · 06/03/2026 12:33

Kemi is correct.

PandoraSocks · 06/03/2026 12:35

About what, exactly?

Yes, she's an opportunist and she thinks she has spotted a good attack line.

I have the distinct impression that this is more about point scoring than principle.

Pacificsunshine · 06/03/2026 12:33

Kemi is correct.

A fraction of the time in the sense that a stopped clock is correct twice a day. Not in this instance and not according to the British public.

clarrylove · 06/03/2026 12:36

Do you not think she is privy to more information than is in the public domain?

Exactly this, in my first post I mention China alongside Venezuela. There’s more than the blatantly apparent going on, obviously not understood by many.

I would repeat that yes, the baddies will be on our doorstep unless we defend our own interests in whatever way, not necessarily by entering conflict.
And ScholesPanda, don’t patronise my use of the term ‘baddies’. Hezbollah are joining in, and others will react accordingly. None of us want it, but it’s a changing time. Let’s hope that the change is just not being able to so easily afford fuel.

KB wouldn't know a principle if it introduced itself !

Could you explain a bit more on this, so we can understand better?

PandoraSocks · 06/03/2026 12:35

We let our military deteriorate to such an extent that our only choice is to keep the Americans happy.

If we want choices, we need to build up our defence capabilities so that we are strong enough to say no, as Harold Wilson did when he said no to participation in Vietnam.

BoredZelda · 06/03/2026 12:54

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 06/03/2026 12:03

Well, I don't agree with her but she isn't wrong that the general public probably have a very limited understanding of the issues. As they do with most things tbh.

I haven't yet seen any strong, credible arguments in favour of the UK adopting anything more than a defensive position. All I've really heard so far in favour of offensive action is a) we should help the US because they're our ally and b) Iraq is a threat because it might be developing nuclear weapons. Which all sounds a bit like the dodgy dossier reasons for going into Iraq back in the day. So for those who support Kemi's view, what is the actual argument in favour of Britain participating in offensive action?

I'm genuinely interested in hearing responses, but ideally something a bit more sophisticated than "we don't like the Iranian regime because they're nasty" - they are undoubtedly nasty, but I think we need a bit more than that to go to war.

The British public who vote? Is she saying the electorate is generally politically unaware and unable to properly assess the current situation? That anyone who is against us joining a war just doesn’t know enough?

The same British public they thought were politically smart enough to give the Conservatives a huge majority with Boris at the helm?

How anyone can’t see she is calling us stupid with her comments is beyond me.

Can't we say no now and build up our defences? We are not under any direct threat at the moment.

This, 100%. Is KB just extremely inexperienced or incredibly thick? I can't work it out. She's an utter embarrassment.
